[Q] Text Messaging App Closes (on 2.34.1 or 2.51)

Hi All,
I Flashed from T-Mobile Defy to 2.34.1 UK Deblur... It is Sim Unlocked.. Everything Works. Calls, Internet.. The only problem is that the text messaging application closes and I cannot send a message to anyone through direct number input, ... Is there any way to fix this?
I Can Only Send A SMS if I received one from someone or I had the contact on the phone but not entering "231312313211231" etc...
HELP!!!

Did you delete any of the system packages?

had the same problem solved with deleteting the messaging.apk and replacing it with the mms.apk from the stock android

[Q] Trying to back up sms messages, but no apps can find/access them?

Hey guys,
I'm trying up back up my sms messages so I can flash a new rom. It's been around a year since I've flashed, and I'm trying to use SMS Backup and Restore.
The problem is that no apps can seem to access my messages; they all say 0 messages found. If I install any 3rd party sms apps, they can't find any messages to import.
Is there any way I can get access to my messages? I have access to root/terminal and am willing to get my hands dirty.
Rom: BeanStalk-4.4.225-20140123-d2tmo
Baseband: UVUEMJC

I am having a similar problem with my S4 (though it has cyanogenmod on it instead of the stock Samsung OS). Did you ever find a solution?

Hi i have successfully installed the backup but i cannot receive sms from sim slot 1, i can send sms though, i have checked the sms settings and the service center option in sms setting is not accessible can you help me out ?

The HTC 816v where I installed the backup was a friends phone and unfortunately I do not have it now but sending and receiving SMS functioned without problem; currently it is not usually set the SMS server but does so automatically when the system sees the sim; however, I remember a similar problem that was caused by apk Hangouts.
To solve this, this was the case:
1. Hangout updated ...> receive SMS not working.
2. Disable Hangouts and try ..> Ok receiving SMS
3. Enable Hangouts and uninstall updates ..> SMS works.
4. Update Hangouts ..> Ok receiving SMS.
You can try it because you will not break anything but I do not know if that is the problem.

Well I do not know what can be the reason you do not receive sms, maybe you could talk to your carrier to see if there's something you can configure.

cant send short code sms's

Hi all
I have a swift with an interesting issue
I am on stock ROM, no flashing yet, marshmallow android.
And for some reason I can't send SMS to short code numbers,
I can send normal SMS without any issues,
But if I try send to 35050 my phone crash and reboot my network.
Message still don't get sent,
Any advice?, using stock messaging app,

!Important - Help needed for Stock ZUI 3.5.337ST Messages problem

Hi all,
Just upgraded to ZUI 3.5.337 ST from Stock 2.5 Indian.
Process followed:
1. Flashed 3.5.243Dev from Qfil
2. Upgraded to 3.5.261 ST via stock recovery.
3. Then 3 updates via System Update app.
Everything is working fine. Just one problem
I am not able to send messages or receive messages in both sims.
When I send a message from Sim1/Sim2, neither it shows up on the screen nor it reaches the person.
Also I am not even able to Receive messages on both sims.
Please help.
I can't afford to format cellphone for the next 1 week due to lot of data in phone and at place where I cant backup.
Any other option to reset particular app/service to get it worked ??
I've tried installing other Messaging app and deleting data for inbuilt Messaging app. Same results.
Can anyone help ??

Have you checked the permission settings for SMS application?
Also check settings in security app of ZUI if that is blocking SMS app some how.
Just two guess from my end.

All permissions : Allowed.
Stock message app is not shown in Security App.
Other installed messaging app is there but no effect.
When i type the message... It activates the Send button...
When i click the send button... The message on the text box disappears and nothing is shown in the chat history. And even the message is not received by the receiver.
