Food for thought,it works on the phone,so the shield is just a very over sized phone. I think it would work.and plus your storage space can be devoted to whatever you choose!
I got extra shield i'm going to play with and see if i can format it like my phone with link to2sd and see h it responds. What do you guys think, yes no,or maybe so? :silly:Give me some feedback, thanks:silly:
can anyone tell me on the 2015 Shield Tv,when you use sdcard does it mount as ext 2,3,4?

I'm eagerly awaiting my XP to arrive at my house tomorrow. I'm familiar with Android devices (I own a Droid, Droid 3, Archos 70 and a Kindle Fire) so I've already got a list of apps to install, ISO rips to play and I've been reading up on the XP unique features.
My question is about PSXPERIA's game saves. Are they saved in a format that is also compatible with PC emulators? (Like ePSXe) Has anybody found an easy way to Syncronize the game saves from your Xperia play so that when you load the game on a PC you can pick up where you left off?
I'd imagine that it would be possible with apps like Dropbox, but that would be a hassle to drag and drop to each folder when going from the XP to the PC.
Thanks!
I think they are compatible because they stick with a 128KB file size so they can be interchangable, not 100% though, you could do a sync with the folder in ePSXe to the phone at each connect with the pc
I bought a used Shield TV on eBay with expiring eBay bucks. It was supposed to "work" but it was far from that. Nvidia was nice enough to send me the missing wall portion of the AC Adapter.
So having this thing for a week I was finally able to get it up and running only to find out that it boots into native Android.
Unless I can track down an APK the media remote doesn't work in it's current state. I've been able to navigate with a USB keyboard.
I've downloaded the files and am ready to return it back to the factory state but want to ask a few questions.
With Android phones rooting and getting a stock experience is important for devices that have too much bloat or no longer receive updates.
What's the benefit of having the Shield TV in this state? What am I gaining and losing?
I know I lose access to the Nvidia games and interface. I wasn't planning on buying their games but am interested in additional punch this device provides for emulation.
Would all of the emulation that Android currently supports have the same performance on a rooted Shield TV in this state as it would running the native OS?
I thought I read somewhere that the 3D acceleration doesn't kick in without the Nvidia software.
If I restore the Shield do I need to just enable apps from outside the Play store to get emulation working or does the Shield TV need to be rooted?
There is no DirecTV Now app for the Shield TV but there is the FireTV APK that people are using. I could give that a try but if I left the Shield TV in it's current state would all of the regular Android APK's work? Meaning the Android DirecTV Now app would work? I wanted to use the Shield with the HD HomeRun app for live TV/DVR and if I leave the Shield in it's current state I'm guessing I'd have to run Kodi for the HD HomeRun to function instead of being able to download the specific app that the Shield TV supports.
Then you have full android.running. Disputen that the sneller did not tell you , it is beter this wat. You now have complete Control of your device. Also GeForce now and alle other optioneel are stille available.
Check out the web for Zullu99 FULL android.
Check if the device is rooted, if so you van install droidmote server on the shield And the droidmote cliƫnt on your cellphone to control the shield.
All aps are possible to install. Not Just android tv apks.
Just got myself a Sony kd75xg8796bu which has Android TV and decided would install some games on it .. which worked for Asphalt 8 .. but then realised that there is not that much space available (8gb'ish ) ... so I have added a 64Gb USB drive, which it sees and allowed me to format .. so far so good
So, my next thing I wanted to do was move the Asphalt 8 Game across to this drive, however ... even though it shows that the game is 1.2Gb in size, it only shows 143Mb on teh USB drive, and now am left with hardly any free space on the internal
Looking around the web, it seems that you should be able to move, but I don't seem to be able to .. any ideas?
I also have added in sony android tv a 64gb usb stick as internal. It formated and I see it in settings as 64gb. But i move an app there 10mb, and it show me 2giga free in the usb..? How can it be? Any idea? I should have almost 64 giga free not 2..
Hi,
I'm not able to use by exFAT formatted HDD (4TB Seagate Backup Plus) on TCL C715, it says it is corrupted even though it works perfectly fine on my 7 years old Samsung F6400. I'm not sure if it will read NTFS as well because I don't have it on hand right now.
I also have an Android TV box (H96 Max X2) with Android TV 9.0 which also works fine with this exFAT drive and supports NTFS as well. The reason I bought the TV was to have an all in one device with Android so that I can plug in my drive directly to the TV rather than an external TV Box and setup KODI on it.
I'm familiar with rooting Android phones (Samsung, SONY, LG) so I'm open to suggestions if there is any way to make this work. I don't have a spare drive or space to copy all my 4TB data and then format it to something the TV will support.
Thanks!

Have you found solution?
I am having same problem on my TCL P815, it has diferent procesor but same motherboard. It looks like TCL for some reason das not support exFAT.
Hi, You need to format your external drive with FAT32 and it will work on TCL Smart TVs.
TCL should release support for NTFS and ExFAT file systems as well.
No support yet?
My TCL support drives in NTFS format, only Exfat is not supported. I think it should be the same with the models referenced in your posts

Congrats. Im considering getting it as well. Can you help check something for me on it?
What country/ location did you get it?
Yes I am a newbee here and I admit this forum looks a bit over my head at the first look. I have a 50" Insignia Amazon Fire TV that I bought a while back from Best Buy. Admittedly I do not watch a lot of things every day or night, but mostly I will sit and watch a TV shows (seasonal series) type of programs. Not into News (fake news) or music all that much.
I am now just educating myself about things like KODI where I can get live TV and ALL the other goodies via using the down loader app and the steps described as from some of the YT video channels gurus!
After initially doing this I began to get the "LOW STORAGE" (aka low memory) 8GB of Internal Storage. I added a USB 8GB thumb-drive on the left side panel and was able to "move" a few of the downloaded apps to the external memory (USB). However unless I get the internal memory "FREED-UP" so there is 500MB of open space on the internal memory the LOW STORAGE WARNINGS (aka "pop-ups") come back! Arrg!
I am wondering what else I can do to not fill up the 8GB of internal memory bank? Some of the Amazon (extra features) packaged goodies like Photos and Music etc. Are things I wish I could delete but there is no "delete" option in the Application Management function. I would like to remove some of the "pre-loaded extras I probably won't ever use .
I know there must be others here who understand the issues -- I have read a couple of the threads -- but they get a bit too technical for me - at least at this point in my learning curve. If someone can give me some third grade level help that would be appreciated here. Thanks!

The simple answer to your question would be to not use kodi on such a low memory device.
Kodi uses a lot of cached space so is not ideal for devices with low storage.
If you are able to use external storage then you can use this to hold most of kodis files.
If not, then.. are you not able to use a couple of movie apks such as cinema HD or Film+ instead as these apks are small in size, use minimal space and do the job well (just install vlc and mx player alongside).

Thank you! Yes I will research where I can get the lowest CACHE eating apps. And remove KODI as you are indicating it is not great for a low memory device such as my Insignia Fire TV with it's mere 8GB of internal storage.
