Custom ROM for call recording in Nexus 5X - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, is there any custom ROM for Nexus 5X where call recording works fine?
More detail:
I'm a developer and I'm attempting to modify AOSP to enable call recording on Nexus 5X.
I was looking for existing ROMs for reference, but couldn't find any details.
Basically, I need to make the normal API work (AudioRecord with AudioSource.VOICE_CALL or AudioSource.VOICE_DOWNLINK).
Any kind of modification is OK for me as long as it can be done in AOSP.
I thought this forum will provide better knowledge about existing ROMs that have this feature working already...
I'm a new user so the forum won't allow me to post in the development section - hope this is the right place.
Thanks!

I am using skvalex call recorder, and have been using it on any rom so far without problem, using CAF mode makes recording both lines. This app is the only one that warked on nexus 5 and 5X so far. Its not free but not expensive if you need it.

Thank you - do you have any idea what they're doing to make recording work on this device?
I need the end result of being able to use the API in my own app - ROM modifications are possible.

"This is Rogue 2. I found them. I repeat: I found them."
"Good morning! How nice of you to drop by!"
I've got camera working.
1- just flash stock (i used ITL41F);
2- cd device/samsung/maguro/
3- connect phone to adb
4- ./extract-files.sh
5- from the top of the tree, 'make clobber' and 'make clean'
6- rebuild

When you guys lunch, do you see arm-v7-neon in target arch? Shouldn't it be omap? This has been bugging me for a while now, do I need to pass another argument to lunch or make?

OMAP is the type of chip. ARM v7 is the type of instruction-set architecture it uses.
Many chips use the ARM set.
Bluetooth wasn't working for me on this for some reason. I have stereo bluetooth headphones so this is a must. You did good stuff on the vibrant and G2X so I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

FINALLY!! Touch-auto-exposure in Jelly Bean camera!!

For the longest time most Android camera apps are incapable of auto adjusting exposure to suit the touch-focus area, a feature that's found in HTC Sense camera and iOS camera. Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I just realized that this feature has finally been added to Jelly Beam on GNexus!! For this feature alone I'll stick with Jelly Bean instead of AOKP ICS.
Just wanted to share this as I thought some might find it useful.
Cheers.
--
Edit: I'm really surprised by how many people have absolutely no idea what touch-exposure is. The keywords are highlighted in red above. If you still have no idea what it does, borrow an iPhone from your friend, try touch-focus a few different areas with different brightness levels within the same view, you'll know what I'm talking about. Sadly most people don't even know what they are missing out....
This is awesome if true!

I think it's automatic... uh "touch-auto-exposure" is in the name. Wherever you touch on the screen automatically applies the correct exposure.
You can also take pictures while recording video, just tap on screen.

I'm always baffled why Google didn't implement this earlier. iOS and HTC Sense have had it for a while.
And guess what, even Galaxy S3 still does NOT have this feature..
better known as touch to focus :silly:
I'm confused. What exactly are we talking about? Does touch-to-focus do something it didn't do before? And autofocus doesn't do it?
I think Touch to Focus was absent in AOSP until JB. I used it today without realizing it is a new feature, works exactly as it should.

<SOLVED> Dialer Codes not Working

I am on a custom rom.
My dialer codes do not work, and I would like to enable them. I am curious to know why this is, what exactly causes them to not work (i.e. missing APK?)
I have searched around a bit, and cannot seem to find exactly what controls these codesl
Thanks!

My post is not pertaining to a rom specific issue, but more of a general question of how the dialcodes work

There needs to be certain apks on the device, if you are using a custom ROM, those apks may be deleted.
For reference, the dial codes on Samsung Roms seem to be died to the DM APKs. There are about 3 of them

Which apks? Do you know? Would be nice to pull them before flashing a custom rom.. I even have this issue when staying stock and only rooting. I feel like root is breaking it as well..

I'm rooted and on stock self debloated and my dialer codes still work.
I know that HiddenMenu.apk is the actual apk that holds all the activities inside it. There then is another service/receiver that actually listens to the numbers being dialed inside the dialer.

This is what I found seem to be related to Dialer codes, somehow:
Samsung DM * (both phone interface and Service)
HiddenMenu
Phone / Dialer (depending on rom)
Somehow these are all intertwined to work together.
The DM apks are responsible for the actual interaction between the dialer codes and the network (i.e. PRL Updates), but are also somehow linked to the function working. Ill play around with the apks a bit more and try to gather some more info.

If this takes care of this for you and so that others can know that this has been resolved, please advance edit the OP and tag the topic with the word <SOLVED> and something in post #1 as well with the resolution. Users have quite the limited attention span, they wont bother reading for the solution, they'll just ask instead of looking.
I'm still not sure how to do all of that I could not find anything in my settings about the dialer if you can help that would be awesome
