It's very simply. I changed my Nexus 5 because security patch wasn't update. And now, my smartphone is not update again, while a lot of phones are very very supported. I choose Xiaomi because release a lot of update and it take care of his smartphones, but this is not happening with Mi 5s. Last update was released in December. I thinks is not too strange if i'm feeling a bit messed around. They promise this update from some months

Imagine:
- You buy phone in December 2016.
- You receive Global ROM about that time, you feel happy.
- You see every month China users get new stable versions, you don't.
- Around February you lost opportunity to unlock bootloader, because you need MIUI 8.1 or above. Your ROM from December is 8.0.
- Month ago Xiaomi release Global 8.2, everybody was happy, they can unlock bootloader, but after a week ROM is deleted from Download section on official site and from OTA update.
- Week ago Xiaomi promise give you first global dev release. Yay we will be able again to unlock bootloader. And they have delay...
epilogue
- Xiaomi start release closed beta Android 7 builds for mi5s. History show us that this model for Xiaomi is ************. Global version is... I have no words.
I know that there are ways to unlock bootloader etc. But official way right now don't work for Global Stable users. This phone have almost a year and stlii no working official solution.

P.S. Good you see RU is not EU

SO Beta testing has started for miui 6. Yes it is only for china version but as miui developers has previously mentioned that it will support English language, so we are good to go for Official MIUI 6 and Hope so that Indian Version be released soon .

Its Redmi 1s TD not WCDMA
Eagerly waiting for it.
Its MIUIv6 for Redmi 1s TD on Kitkat base. For WCDMA, it would probably be on lollipop base.

I dont think so that it will be on Lollipop Base. We wont be getting Official lollipop before it is released for mi series and Lollipop based miui wont be simply created in a month it requires time.
I think same china version will be modified and will be provided to us.
I think we Will have Redmi note 4g rom on Redmi 1s. It's the same procesor. Sihost did it, so why not xiaomi? ....

I hope you're satisfied with the official info.
yes @ cipisek5 and actually its More stable then what xiaomi is providing officially.
Yes i have read it previously But its for china version and yet not confirmed will it be L or kitkat. So we its really going to be released late march then i dont think their is any chance for L . Because L is new version for miui and its Beta testing should get started atlease 1 month before.
Xiaomi's engineer knows better than me and you. If they have decided, then there must be some reason for it.
I am not saying it's gonna be L, but there is a chance, otherwise they wouldn't have written it.
Hope our device will get L directly. :fingers-crossed:

Don't dream in day bro. I don't believe xiaomi. All their major phones are getting software updates weekly except redmi series.
I just randomly opened the en.miui.com and I saw that our Armani is also eligible for the MIUI 9 update. Guys, take a look and apply maybe?
Deadline for application time is 1st, August 2017 (Beijing Standard Time)
MIUI 5, MIUI 6, MIUI 7, MIUI 8 and now MIUI 9. It has been a long journey. Really excited!! Looking forward for it.

I was so pumped when I read it. I can't believe Xiaomi will indeed update their old devices. My hopes are high for them. But I doubt it might take a long, but that's fine. ?
Do I need to be good at debugging to be able to have a sense in using beta?
Also, does that mean that the camera blobs for our device will be updated to fit Nougat? And does that mean a better camera experience on other Nougat ROMs?
OR will it be another new UI with outdated system?

I still doubt that Xiaomi will be updating the android version too. Still hoping for the best.
Good at debugging? I don't think that is compulsory but surely it'll help the developers if you are.

I just hope that the Android version would be updated too. But as far as I can see, it wouldn't be. Just like the release of MIUI 8. It was based on Marshmallow for new devices but the older ones were stuck. Nougat runs fine even though with a hiccup, but hey at least we know it's working and it's possible to have one MIUI ROM based on Nougat.

Yeah! let's hope for the best. I won't think it'd take that much time. Armani recieved MIUI8 update earlier than Redmi 2.
It'll will be on android kitkat only for redmi 1s, just updated ui and fancy stuff. So just don't hope that it'll come with MM for redmi 1s.

Yeah. After a few days, my hype disappeared. Somewhat disappointed on what will happen. I don't care about fancy UI and colorful stuff. I want a bit of nudge on the Android version. I'll be fine if they notch it up to 5.1.1 or 6.0.1. Thanks to the devs here in XDA, I got a taste on Nougat even though the phone tries hard to catch up.
If there is no xda, our device Armani would have never get past android version 4.4. (Well most of the devices)
im sure that in miui 9 also the android version will stay at 4.4.
One year ago I have dumped my redmi 1s and shifted to RN3 ,but happy to seee miui 9 for our little Beast...
Miss this forum and device. But I keep checking a month how development is gng on...
Its a wasted effort, the company has even dropped MIUI 8 support for Redmi 1S. The only version available seems to be MIUI 8.2.1.0 while a lot of devices got 8.5.xx. Redmi 1S has reached EOL.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite Android 9 Pie update :
Android 9 Pie update expected in Q1 2019
Beta version may roll out before the end of 2018
As already pointed out, Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite comes preinstalled with Oreo 8.1 and thus is entitled to an update to Android 9 Pie, probably the one and only OS upgrade the device will ever see. Xiaomi hasn’t said it publicly, but we expect a beta version to roll out before the end of 2018 followed by a stable released later in Q1 2019.
Of course, the stable Pie update will have MIUI 10 running on top.
Hello,
Global beta ROM is now officialy available, according to this article the beta version 8.12.13 is under android pie https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-8-lite-android-pie-beta-china/?nocache=1
Even if it says that you need bootloader unlocked, I checked on the official website and saw it was available as a global version, here's the link http://en.miui.com/download-346.html#552 (and if you want, here's the changelog http://en.miui.com/thread-4885974-1-1.html)
Since I only have my mi 8 lite in a few days (tomorrow hopefully), I could not test it myself, if nobody does before I'll confirm as soon as possible
Tell me if I'm making any mistake
Have a nice day

Has anyone received the January update? Or have any indication when we'll receive it?
I think no one recieved that.
But i guess we will get it 2 weeks later
The only way I'm updateing is if it activtes the lte for me besides that I'm on pie.just waiting for a stable twrp or equivalent recovery option
any chance that this will fix the wifi issues with pie on the a2 lite do you think?
e.g. slow wifi when bluetooth is also on.

If you flash via fastboot the aboot.img from the, for example, 9.6.4.0 update, you can use the Oreo TWRP in Pie without any problem but I think that someone in the official TWRP thread has a custom fix for Pie.

Because it's android one phone
The A1 had the January update first because Xiaomi messed up its LTE bands, so they had to prioritize it.
With respect to the pure Android/MIUI controversy, this is an Android One phone, I don't understand why there are so many people asking for a MIUI port. I bought it exactly because it doesn't have any bull**** on top of Android.
Hello.
Does someone know why xiaomi mi mix 2 doesn't have support from the manufacturer ? The last update is from 01.08.2018 ,this is not an old phone,it's a flagship.Does someone know the real reason?Anybody have any news about pie ?
That's the reason I decided to go for a custom ROM. I had a Huawei P8 before mix2 and their support was a piece of s..t too. The worst about that was that there was almost no custom rom development become of Kirin.. I am glad I have SD device now because I can make decisions I couldn't before. If you want to be up to date with security updates, use a custom ROM. They are built by developers that do care about your device ?
A Miui 10.2 update is currently in the making. The China ROM already received this update like a week ago. Global Stable update should be coming soon.
