Moto G5 Plus Skins - Skinnova Gadgetshieldz - Moto G5 Plus Accessories

Just installed the skins from the Gadgetshieldz. These skins cost around $10 for the back, camera and the logo. They have two types of back skin
Full back - That covers the sides and corners of the Moto G5 plus.
Flat back - That covers the only the back portion and not the sides and the corners of the Moto G5 plus.
They have quite a lot of textures like Dbrand where we can customize the skins as we wish. I went with the Back marble for the back and White marble for the accents.
For installation, I took the assistance of their application video. The skins have the precise cuts for the ports, buttons and the mic hole. I have managed to align as perfect as possible. It's easy to install if you follow the instructions. And Note that you need a lot of hairdryer for the corners and the edges.
After the installation, the Moto G5 Plus is stunning  The marble patterns in the skins are so realistic. I love the overall product quality. I have attached some picture of my MG5+ with the Skinnova skins.
You can get your skins here - http://www.gadgetshieldz.com/motorola-moto-g5-plus-skins-decals-wraps.html
They even have skins for the Moto G5 and full body protector for both.

How is the feel? Matte? Or marble? I m planning to get one

Could you post some pics of the corners? Looks great

Post if you do.

I went with the flat back option in teak wood.
It seems that they have most of the selection that dbrand has...I did send a request to dbrand though...because I want the new dragon skin they offer.

It feels good when you touch the skin. And it's getting better when we use on hands. It feels like the marble not matte.

Waited 3 weeks and the cutout for the headphone jack is in the wrong spot, spotty quality control for gadgetshieldz?

@meesagandu Is the texture grippy or slippery?

Toast real wood wrap for Moto X

So I just saw that Toast is now making a real wood back skin for the Moto X. I think they look pretty good.
http://www.toastmade.com/Home.html
Apparently, it's glued to the phone with some pretty strong adhesive but they have a removal video that showed no residue when peeled off. I have a dev edition Moto X but I may get one of these in bamboo or ebony.
Anyone else up for a try?

I will probably wind up ordering one, but I'm not sure of the color I want. I have a white front / cement back / black accents. Walnut or Ebony would look best, but which one? <.<
Wow... based on the videos I just watched, the adhesive is serious overkill. I recently got the dbrand mahogany skin and it is much easier to remove, while having no problem staying put.
The dbrand skin looks pretty good, but I removed because I wasn't crazy about the feel. The Moto X feels pretty insane naked and I have yet to find an accessory that improves on it.

I agree with this. I have a case on now but only because it was free. I absolutely love the way the phone feels naked.

correct me if I am wrong, but the dbrand skins are 3M material, thus not requiring the use of very strong adhesives. Real wood on the other hand is a different story

I am no expert on adhesive, and what they are using on the little strips that go on the edges of the iPhone may be necessary. But given the amount of surface area of the back, it seems what they're using is overkill. Even their own removal video shows the removal process as destroying the wood, even with heat being applied.
Is anyone worried about the lip or edge this would have in the back of the MotoX? Unless they taper the wood, you're going to feel some edges on the back.
I guarantee you're going to feel it , I can even feel the edge of the dbrand vinyl skin I have.
Has anyone tried sanding the edges to make it feel more natural?

I've been thinking about it because after a couple months the bamboo is chipping away at the edge.
I almost pulled the trigger on two of these for my wife and I with custom text. Then I read they are glued on. No thanks. I'm not ruining my Developer Edition. Now, if they snapped on like a normal case I'd of done it. We're both disappointed.
I have one on my DE and it looks and feels awesome. There is a removal technique.
i'm thinking about getting one of these. can anyone provide some feedback on the product?
i'm especially interested in the durability, and how the edges feel afterward (some people with vinyl skins complain about rough edges from the skins)

I've been using one for a bit over a month now and have absolutely loved it. Before I bought it I thought the edges would bother me and I was planning on sanding it, but honestly it feels fine (and gives the dimple on the back a much better hold).
None of the glue has lifted and there haven't been any scratches on it (gotten a couple bad drops without any damage).
I personally have the toast back with a glass screen protector, a combo that still leaves the moto x with the same amazing formfactor but keeps it safe from 80% of what usually gets damaged

Dbrand Wood skin

Just though I'd share a pic of this beautiful skin. It has the most precise cuts of any skin I've owned. It's also very high quality. A lot of people have thought it was real wood! @Zephyr!

It's worth every penny. Just don't forget to heat up the edges when applying.
What material is that , any link maybe ? Thanks!
The material is 3M vinyl and I'll add the link to OP.
I regret taking my one off, the bright red one I swapped it with it nice, but the wood is much better
I have that one, and the "Tiger Stripe" also..all "wood like" skins that dbrand offers, BUT..I prefer "Sticker Boy" skins, MANY more "wood like" skins, 15 total, I own eight of the Sticker Boy wood like skins and will add more to my collection soon..
Here is a link to a few of my cases with Sticker Boy skins..and the shipping is 2x faster the dbrand..
Here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60545497
Also see OP in the same thread..I have all my skins on a clear and gray slip on case, the skin will NOT stick well to the grippy, textured back shell, I use slip on (hard) gray and clear cases, apply the skin to the case, and can change phone theme daily..

I haven't personally had any trouble with mine sticking. But apparently other's have.
Yeah..Seems where alot are having trouble is when the devices is inserted in the pocket, and the skin collects dust, pocket lint and so on..I personally have never tried any skin placed on the factory back SandStone shell (the textured), I did install a skin onto the factory shell, but it seemed to me, not to be something longterm without a clear case over it, would peel off very easily, but I have not tested extensively the stickability of any skin, longterm on the SandStone textured shell..

I could see how that would be a problem over time. I have a gold aluminum bumper case on the way and once that gets here it'll cover the edges of the device and skin. Hopefully that'll help keep it on.

I've had D-Brand Skin directly on the factory sandstone since December. Have slipped on and off various cases over the skin. For the last month, I've been using it without any case and carry it around in my front pocket and the edges are fine. No lift or dust. I suspect that it will last until I ever decide to peel it off. In fact I did have the small part around the camera lens covered with the skin as well and when I decided to remove it, it was quite difficult to get under the edge to remove that piece.
Thanks for the heads up, very intriguing indeed. Now I feel like picking up a carbon fiber white back with carbon fiber red logo for my silk white OPO. The prices are pretty reasonable too!

For the most part, your statement is true, but as an owner of many dbrand (8 or more) skins, and particularly the "wood like" skins, dbrand offers two options for the 1+1, and as an owner of (6 or more) StickerBoy skins, which offer 15 "wood like" skins, many more options and the quality/fit is just as good (or better) than dbrand, ALSO..shipping here in the U.S. is MUCH faster with StickerBoy..I also have a few Slick Wraps, but with my past Moto devices, particularly the 2014 Moto X, Second Edition, Slick Wrap skins where 99% of the time, to large overall, overlapping the frame of the device..
My point of view and opinion is, Sticker Boy has my overall vote, because I own many of each manufacturer..and can give an honest viewpoint..

I've got the carbon fibre one, with the camera and logo. What happened to my OPO is that the sandstone back started to wear off over time, so before I stuck my carbon skin on (also from Dbrand) I really wiped it and rubbed it so that it would come off as much as possible. After applying it, I heated the edges and did everything as shown on the official video and have fallen in love with it. It looks and feels fantastic! I've had it for over two months, no issues at all. It's literally become part of the phone, it doesn't feel cheap or feel like it's ever going to come off on its own.
Looks much better in real life, compared to the pictures.

add grip without a case

anyone recommend a skin or any way to add grip to the axon7 without using a case? hate cases and find the phone abit slippery. was thinking about the xtremeguard back skin since the protectors tend to be a little sticky front and back. any other recommendations?
I'm waiting for the dbrand skin to ship. If I can get the phone to be a little less slippery, I'm dropping the case. Will let you know once I tested it.
I'm currently using a DBrand Carbon Fiber skin. It's ok. Not super grippy tbh. I didn't find the phone to be super slippery to me anyway, but it's not like the skin adds a ton.
yeah i heard the matte dbrand has a little more grip to it but I love the grey on this phone so I'm hoping a clear skin will add some grip to it without hiding its color.
Just sandpaper it
I just installed the carbon fibre dbrand skin, and I can tell you that it adds grip, a lot.
I'll still use the case for the gym, but for everything else, you can use it naked.

This shows that the Axon 7 is much better looking than the iPhone ?

I've tried the matte dbrand and it does add a "little" grip like you said but not enough for me. plus after using it for awhile it started to unglue on the edges especially on the sides if the phone is curved like the Axon7. I ordered a couple of cheap thin cases from aliexpress so i might have to give a case a try but after hearing about this gt-5000 gun grip tape, i may give that a try first.

These are pics of my bricked s6, but you can see after about 6 months, JUST on the edges, one side peeled, other side had a chip that came off clean. I change it every 6 months or so. Comes off super clean, sticks GREAT IMO. But there is a possibility it may screw with Bluetooth. Not sure but the s6 would cut out every once in a while with my headphones. With 2 different brand sets of headphones, I have had issues with both phones. My head unit in my car has only cut out on me using the axon 7. Next time I change it I planned on testing.

Anyone else find the edges around the USB port to be rough?

I'm digging most things about my Pixel XL, but one thing I have found, especially when comparing to other phones, is that the edges surrounding the USB port are sharp and uncomfortable to touch, especially if I am holding with one hand and my pinky is supporting bottom of phone and it's over the USB port, it's sharp and prickly. I couldn't find anything with any searches, so I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this or perhaps there is some flaw in the build.
Attached a couple of pics showing what I can feel. It appears that the inner piece of the port is a separate piece from the body of the phone and it is raised up off of the body.
My 32GB purchased in November is very smooth to touch. No sharp edges at all.
Does your camera not have a "macro" setting? The pics are blurry.
USB-C port is smooth as butter here. The white plastic that outlines the port lays completely flush with the body of my phone. I'd probably just chalk this up as a manufacturing thing.

I was unsure from the pictures you took I thought maybe I was seeing a colour I hadn't heard of, but my regular size pixel is also black and I can feel the same uncomfortable surface on the pinky which you feel. But I recently fitted a skin and it has made it feel so much better, no more pinky abuse and there's so much more grip on the back I rarely have to to use the pinky to stop it sliding out my hand, I would highly recommended getting a more grippy skin fitted it transforms how you hold the phone in your hand.

Thanks for the useful response. What skin did you use? I've always used my phones naked, so I have no experience with skins or cases.
ATM I have have a gloss skin from easyskinz in the UK, it really makes the phone grip to your fingers, but the fit isn't as great as the matt black dbrand skin I had fitted before this one, I am being picky tho it still fits very well and is dependent on your installation skills, but the dbrand matt black didn't help with grip at all, maybe a gloss version of a dbrand skin will be the best of both worlds? I got stung for a customs charge when I ordered the last dbrand skin from Canada so I'm reluctant to order one again, dbrand was all one piece, eazyskinz is 3 peices BTW, I would advise to do your own research to see what you prefer. For me next time I think I will try the textured carbon effect 3 piece eazyskinz. I'm envisaging that to to look and feel very good.

first product search result link is not white. It is transparent case with white flower artwork
2nd result hit Not really white. They are black case with printed decals slapped on the back
skim through more search hits, there are very few if not only 1-2. Wouldn't call that a "bunch". I've done the search many times, there are not many to out there on the market for pixel 3 xl. I've searched through amazon, ebay, aliexpress.
Challenge you to link me 5-10 on amazon.com that is full body pure white like the Rhinoshield solid suit . They are like the only one readily available. Peelcase has a kind of white one made of recycled stuff, but not really true white. Looks like recycled paper.
As a white-case connoisseur, my educated guess, after owning a billion of them for a billion phones, is I suspect they're not the favorite to produce for manufactures. Rubber and TPU, favorite materials for phone cases, stain VERY easily, and white ones turn irreversibly blue from blue jeans after only a couple days. They probably get a lot of customer complaints/returns. I pretty much gave up on finding nice solid-white cases. Either they stain RAPIDLY, or are made of very hard materials which are either bulky as hell or thin with terrible coverage (insufficient lip to set the phone face down without the screen touching the surface).

those are half price on Ali, and the bottom opening has always been sharp for me. to be fair, i haven't used one since probably the og pixel, but I'd had may previously and they all were sharp against my pinky
These cases are amazing, and the protection is good, consider buying a better screen protector though, you get a free one, and you can tell its free, but its good until you can buy more expensive screen protector. Not white though, but i bet there will be.
