I just got my phone back from repair (it died of the bootloop syndrome), but previous to this I also burnt out the QI chipset. Didnt RMA it as it didnt bother me that much.
However, now I got my phone back with a completely new motherboard, So I was wondering if theres anyone out there that actually has a G4 with working QI wireless charging sticker that has worked over time.
If there is, I might try another go with a QI sticker, but if there isn't, I'll just leave it.
I have been using the Cheotech Wireless Charging case - https://www.amazon.co.uk/CHOETECH-Circle-Wireless-Charging-Receiver-x/dp/B011DTIW6U - every day with no issues. Still works after a motherboard bootloop repair.

Have you ever tried quickcharge on that phone? Some users in the forums believe that alternating quickcharge and wireless charge is causing the qi chipset to burn
I got a sprint varient. I bought a after market coil and have never had any issues with it.
i never liked the curvature of the back of the phone without a charging case.
if u set your g4 on it say at 12 oclock 0 degrees up and down come in 8 hours later the phone will rotate sideways and fall off the charger.
im assuming from the micro vibrations that the magnetic coils make. im real particular about crap like that and i set my phone down i expect it to stay on it.
i had to set a rubber pad on mine so it dont move

after owning a load of samsungs my s5 s6 s7 note 5 a couple of actives wireless charging is a must. i even got a old lumia for att that was release in 2011 or 2012 that has it in it
I sometimes use quick charge, but I find my wireless charging is normally quick enough for me so use that at least 90% of the time.
I have the QuickCircle case but I don't use it (came with the used G4 I just bought), and I do have a Qi charging pad but personally I think wireless charging does more damage to the battery than good because of the additional heat it causes over traditional plug-in charging.
Maybe someday we'll have some time of battery technology that suffers no ill effects from such wireless transfer of power, but as long as we know for a fact that Li-Ion batteries are affected by heat buildup which shortens their total lifespan (not on a per-charge basis but the actual lifetime of the battery cell itself usually measured in years) I'm just not a fan of anything including Quick Charging (2.0 or 3.0) because of the increased heat the cells end up being exposed to during such quick faster charging.
I have an LG 1.2A charger that I use with my G4 and it works fine, I'm never in such a massive hurry that I have to "quick charge" and go, that's why I have a second battery that gets charged on the G4 battery cradle so it's always ready to go and I swap the cells weekly to get both of them with fairly even levels of wear over time.

Just picked up a Nokia DT900 plate and also what appears to be the fastech type qi receiver pad (blue sticker / 650ma) from ebay. Despite the "super thin" claims about the pad, it is still a tight fit in the case and definitely causes the back plate to bulge a bit. But the main thing I've found is that the charge rate is really slow (about 2% every 15 minutes - which means that it would take longer to charge the battery than run it down) whereas most experiences on the forums seem to indicate a 30% or so increase in charge time.
If this is the qi experience it seems rather pointless so I'm hoping to hear from others before I go back to the seller as it may well be a dud pad.
******Earlier report in error. Either the charge pad or plate doesn't appear to like be jiggled while charging otherwise the rate slows right down, leaving it alone shows a charge rate of 5% per 15 mins. So if the phone is bumped while charging it needs to removed and replaced. And it does get warm, currently ambient =17C and the face of the phone is measuring 28C using my trusty IR thermometer
just line the bottom of your s3 to the bottom of the charging pad and you should be all set.
that seems to be the sweet spot for my phone

I have the Fast Tech pkg. Yes it is slower by a lot. With the proper wired charger and stock rom, I measure 1100ma max charge rate using a meter. So if the pad is rated 650ma,that says it all. That is a max rating as well... so if for some reason, it is not charging efficiently, then then it will be even slower.
That said, I decided to buy 2 of them for my home for these reasons:
- easy to charge, no fumbling
- affordable
- accommodates cases
- nice to have around the house
- won't wear out usb port
I have one in my kitchen with a sound system with BT receiver, so I get easy wireless music and charging. It's great when you have guests in a kitchen and you want to keep changing songs manually because docking is so easy. It's still faster charging than through most pc usb ports. Just keep a normal wired charger for times when quick charging is necessary.

The DT900 seems to be quite tolerant of phone position but I suspect that if the phone is moved about during charging this confuses the multi coil system on the plate which is why the charge rate slows further.
Also the light on the plate doesn't go off when the phone is charged, as it's claimed to. Hopefully this isn't an issue, although I'm not sure if the phone is able to switch to trickle when using qi.
if the small light doesn't go off, then it's not charging. simple as that. I line my phone up so that the usb port and the light is aligned.
never had a problem as long as the phone is in that position (this is also considering i have the ballistic SG case on it)
I have been using my G3 with the following chargers.
1. CAR - http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.9.312.b3nISV&id=19923741183&_u=r5ljepd1b56
2. HOME - http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.9.298.b3nISV&id=2030530342&_u=r5ljepdfb71
For the CAR charger, the phone keep asking me place the phone in center of Hot Zone.
Or will charge for a few seconds and stops, and charge and stop...repeat.
For the HOME charger, it ask me to place the phone in center of Hot Zone, but once message disappear it charges fine.
I tried a long time and can't find the perfect spot.
Can someone point me to right HOT ZONE on the phone??

Hi, the same thing keeps happening to my g3 whenever I try and charge it wirelessly.
Just to ask did you buy one of the budget qi chargers?
I bought one for £7 on ebay, thing is it charges my Nexus 4 perfectly fine, just can't seem to get a good angle with my G3.
The price was the same as the link I posted. Around 30-40usd each. The charger is fine with my nexus as well just not g3.
Seem to me as though the charger coil on the g3 back cover is very small that is causing the issue.

Yeah I took the cover off my G3 to see if I could see any hint as to how big the coils were or where they were placed but couldn't really see anything.
Did you actually buy your chargers on taobao? I wouldn't trust anything on there to be of good quality.
Maybe the G3 has trouble working with cheap chargers, the proper LG one's i've heard work really well.
I was thinking of getting a better charger, perhaps one with 3 coils see if that makes a difference..
Yeah I got it directly off taobao, there wasn't a good selection of charger when I got the nexus. And especially it was so hard to find a good car charger.
Guess I have no choice but to get the official lg one now.

I have the same problem with a generic circular one. If the screen is on, the message about the hot zone pops up. If the screen is off however, the charging message pops up. But it does this every few seconds, every time the screen goes off.
If I look at the inside of the cover on mine, I can clearly see the coil layout (you have to look at an angle, under a light) The coil I see looks about the same as a standard one.
The issue, I think, may be down to the NFC coil being in the same location. Qi is supposed to detect foreign metal objects such as keys & coins, and will turn off if they are detected. Maybe the NFC coil is interfering with Qi and the official LG charger has been designed to overcome this issue.
I haven't been able to find the official charger at retail.
Here I have found it on Taobao, the price is pretty steep though about 50USD.

I got the official charger but same problem for me. Says its loading but when the screen goes of it pops back up. The charger is working fine with my Nexus 7. Anyone who solved this problem yet?
I also have this problem with a premium charger I bought for my note 3. Keeps on telling me to put it in the hot spot and then won't charge. Looks like another problem for the g3 and I'm beginning to wish that I'd kept my note 3
Please help
This is my second try to get an answer to this question. Does anyone here have a us LG G3? The reason I'm asking is I have seen two different charging pin locations one is the international one which has a space between pins 2 and 3and the Korean version which has no spaces between the pins. I want to buy a charging cover and don't know which one to get so hopefully someone here can let me know. Thanks in advance.
i thought only me have this problem.
im using official LG G3 charger WCD-100, while charging the G3, sometimes charging stop for a second and continue. happen so often. the wireless charging notification annoy me, not sure if charging with random disconnect will make the battery life cycle worse
when charging my nexus 5 with the same wireless chager, the charging went smooth, no disconnect happen
i check the back cover and clean the pin, nothing changes, still got random disconnect

Disable the alert with Xposed and G3 Tweaksbox. You can disable the slow charging notification and the hot zone message.

wireless charging alert keeps popping up
Hi to all!
I just got my new LG G3 phone and starting to familiarize its usage. Though one thing I can't figure out is the wireless charging indicator pops up every after 30 seconds or so. Is there any configuration I can set to disable this?
Thanks!
Chris
I'm using a generic charger from dx (the round black one) and positioning is sensitive, but it does work and doesn't keep popping up asking me to reposition it.
I also have a round puck charger and and also one of those Lugalake qi chargers with integrated battery. UK phone.
In both cases the G3 just sits and whines about positioning. The puck thinks it's charging and the battery level increases but the back of the phone gets very hot so I don't think it's 100% right. A hot zone, for sure.

Exact same problem. I am currently using G3 Tweaks Box to remove the annoying notifications that pops up every now and then, but no solution to the actual issue of the phone not charging consistently. Not sure if its the phone or the charger, but am currently thinking of swapping to a better charging stand (the WCD-100 looks pretty inconsistent with the premium look of the phone, plus I'm using a black G3) and hoping that the charging issue would be resolved.
I have the LG WCP-300 and I get the placing message as well, but it charges the phone without any issues. .
I get a weird behavior when my G3 reaches full battery while wirelessly charging. The phone and charger connect and disconnects about every 3 seconds.
For comparison Using the same charger with my nexus 5 my phone would stay connected even at full capacity (I'm sure it has a internal safeguard for overcharging rather than disconnecting continuously)
I'm using one of those aftermarket qi wireless charging stickers.
(edit) I ended up buying a OEM LG battery door with qi built in. I get the same result. It's the phone.
Anyone else experience this or have a solution?
I have not. I bought an unbranded LG back plate and am using an old nexus 4 orb without any issues. I do not get the "battery 100%" notification, but on the lock screen is says battery fully charged every time I check it, all without any sounds during this time.
Now I'm considering just buying a OEM battery door. ****ing Hassel and waste of money to get the removed functionality back in this phone

My concern is for the health of my phone's battery.
Just get insomnia. Then your phone won't stay fully charged that much. LoL I get a new phone a lot so I doubt the batttery will be a issue for me.
I have this issue with the factory USB charger, as do many others. I think it's just something they're going to have to patch out of the software.
I called LG support. They gave me the usual run around. Not to be racists but it was a Indian call center. I could tell that they have never even held the phone on their hands before and they were just reading through the typical responses.
One guy said it was similar to bluetooth disconnecting and re-connecting. I told him please transfer me to someone who knows something about phones. Then I got a girl who said pull the battery out and put it back in. This is the best support I could get...
Sounds like Sprint. LoL
Is my problem a isolated issue? I don't get much feedback from G3 owners
What battery app are you using to see that it disconnects and starts charging again when full. Do you charge the phone when you sleep? Can you charge the phone some before you sleep and then when you wake up? I'm thinking it would take a year + before you have any battery issues if any at all. I think it's software related and who knows if and when it gets fixed. If it bothers you that much why even use wireless charging?

First I use lightflow to show my charging/charged led indication. Second my actual wireless charger has a led charging /not charging indicator.
All abnormal behavior compared to my nexus 5
This happened to me once but it wasn't while the battery was full. I turned off the phone and took the battery out and after it restarted it hasn't happened again since.
Today I received an LC-C6 wireless fast charging pad from Aukey. I’ll start by saying that I’ve had many Aukey products and have never been anything but happy with any of them. They all have worked for me and quite well at that. I’ve only had one of my products ever fail on me and they were very fast to replace it and they were pleasant about it as well. Anyway, back to the charger. Once I received it, I opened it up to get to testing. If you’ve been around wireless chargers you know that quite a few of them (at least in my experience) miss the mark or just downright suck. This charger works well, with a minor issue that seems to be a compatibility issue which I’ll get to later. I powered it up and charged my wife’s LG G6 for about an hour until it was full (it was about 60% charged to begin with and LG G6 doesn’t support Wireless Fast Charge) with no issues whatsoever save for my wife picking up the phone for something and not setting it back down correctly on the pad. Having said that, this particular pad is very forgiving as far as they go. If you’re a touch off center or up/down it still works. She simply put the phone more off the pad than on it. So far so good. I also attempted to charge my Galaxy Note 9. It went well for about 10 minutes, even entering wireless fast charge until the status LED started flashing red. The manual says this is a charging error so I took my phone off to let it reset, checked all my cables and charge adapters and tried again. Same as before 10 minutes or so in, I get a charge error from the pad and my phone stops receive charge. I should state at this point that my Note 9 lives in an Otterbox Defender which is quite thick, so I removed the case to further test this pad. It definitely did better without the case, but after 20-30 minutes I get the same charging error. Having done some looking now I see this is pretty normal between this charger and a Note 9 as I am not the only one seeing the problem. Overall I am still very happy with it, and I will likely buy another wireless charger from Aukey in the future when one of the many in my house need replacing.
This started happening a couple of weeks ago, prior to the latest update.
When I put my P6P on the Stand 2 at the end of the day, I get the little sound and animation that it started charging. After a few seconds I see the message at the bottom that it's "charging wirelessly" and a time until full. I have the stand set on Max Charging and adaptive charging turned off. After a minute or two, the fan comes on. About 10-15 minutes later, it stops charging, (the message goes away and the current % is shown), and the phone is really hot. No matter how long I leave it, even overnight, it never starts charging again. The phone remains really hot until I remove it from the stand.
About 50% of the time, if I reboot it, it will behave normally again, but last night nothing I did would get it to charge wirelessly. I ended up plugging it into the wire. It never gets warm when charging on the wire.
It has been working fine since I purchased it in Nov. This just started a few weeks ago. Has anyone else seen this?
Dave
Try cable charging.
Charging will disengage if the battery temperature gets too hot, about >103F
Fast charging may disengage if the temperature gets beyond 95-100F.
Ideal charging battery start temp is 82F.
Erratic charging can indicate a failed battery.
Any swelling is a failure, replace asap if so.

As indicated in my OP, cable charging works fine every time. The phone doesn't even get warm. It's only wireless charging that's an issue, and not every time I try to charge it wirelesly. It's like the phone decides to stop accepting the power, and it starts to heat up because of it.
I take it you don't have a second wireless stand to rule out if it's the phone or your STand 2 that's behaving badly?
I have been using a genric set-up from charger to stand with my P6P and did have charging issues a few months ago with wireless charging not working correctly but the May update fixed it.

May be a hardware failure in the phone or stand.
Remove a case if it has one and try.
C ports generally last for thousands of charge cycles and cable charging is better for the battery, produces less heat.

No, unfortunately I only have one stand. I'll keep trying things to see if I can narrow down the exact situation when it occurs. I was mainly checking to see if anyone else had something similar happen and there was a quick fix.

Yeah, and I've always used cable charging on all my phones in the past with no issues. I thought the stand was cool in that it could fast charge and keep the phone upright so it's easy to read in the middle of the night. I'd really like to keep using it. It was stupid expensive and I'd hate to let it go unused for that price.
Thanks!
Dave
I've been experiencing similar problems with my Stand. Sometimes it charges normally, sometimes it charges REALLY, and I mean really slow... And sometimes I get the "Not charging" message for whatever reason.
I think it's gotta be an issue with the adaptive charging on the Pixel 6 Pro, because every time I put my other phone on the stand, my S21U, it charges without any issues.

Yeah, I feel you. It could be firmware, a SEU which are rare but do happen. A reflash would fix it if so. Probably not worth the trouble to try and more likely to be hardware.
Cable charging be the best plan for now I think.
The old micro connectors were horrible and invariably would fail. The C connectors are much more robust. This N10+ is heavily used and the C port jack is still tight and has well over a thousand cycles plus a few drops and pulls. Even the original cable is still AOK.
Just came across this thread while looking for similar problems on my P4 with a 1st Gen stand. The phone showed the normal 'xx% charging wirelessly' display then at 79% it changed to simply '79%'. After a while the message went back to 'xx%charging wirelessly'. I took the phone off the charger and using a utility app called 'inware' I looked at the battery temp which was at 41.5C/106F.
So I'm guessing that the phone will stop charging when the battery gets hot and resume when it cools down a bit. What is 'too hot' and when does it cause damage, I have no idea. Google told me in a chat session the other day that it's perfectly acceptable to leave the phone on the stand all day. Personally, I take it off at about 80% charge which lasts me all day.
Mine also has this behaviour, taking it off and placing it back on continues to charge
I just sent my stand back for similar reasons - not good when a $12 Qi charger from Amazon was doing a better (and faster!) job charging.
I sent mine back too & am now using a charger that I bought at IKEA for £5. It's a shame as I thought that Google would have made more effort to integrate the charger & phone. Oh well, bling gone!
