Hello all,
I recently got a HTC ONE M8S that is OS wiped and I'm struggling to make it functional again.
When I turn on the device it goes to fastboot instantly and shows:
Code:
*** Software status : Modified ***
*** Unlocked ***
M8QL_UL PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-3.19.0.0000
[email protected]
OS-
eMMC-boot 2048MB
Aug 24 2015,19:4356.0
Menu is responsive but when I switch to hboot and select recovery phone goes off and back to fast boot again, factory reset is the same.
My idea to move from here was to use custom recovery so I flashed TWRP:
Code:
C:\adb>htc_fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.8.7.0-m8s-qlul.img
sending 'recovery' (30548 KB)... OKAY
writing 'recovery'... OKAY
Execution time is 3(s)
Unfortunetaly it didn't helped much as i was still not able to run recovery from hboot menu.
I tried to trick the phone to boot into recovery with fastboot:
Code:
C:\adb>fastboot boot twrp-2.8.7.0-m8s-qlul.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 2.440s]
booting...
OKAY [ 0.000s]
finished. total time: 2.440s
Unfortunetaly in my case it had no effect and recovery not booted.
I did further research and the most promissing advice was to restore the stock, so the idea was to follow this thread.
I used adb again to get more info about the phone and find a proper RUU for it:
Code:
C:\adb>fastboot.exe getvar all

I suggest booting/flashing earlier twrp version for now. That worked for me once. Thread
Hi team,
I have been searching for hours on this topic.
As usual, being the geek from the neighbourhood, I was asked if I could fix a HTC Desire 820 n that did not boot anymore.
Needless to say that I have NO CLUE of the things previously done on the phone. Strange thing is that the fastboot screen status was saying "software status: modified", but the phone was locked.
So.... I have access to fastboot and the phone gets recognized under Linux and W10 by fastboot.
I unlocked it using the HTCDEV.com website.
Tried to flash several RUU files either by using the "fastboot oem rebootRUU" command and putting directly the zips on the SD card.
Everything failed.
Last, but not least, I did try to flash a TWRP and a stock recovery found on XDA, with a successfull message via fastboot, but all it finally managed to do, was to erase the recovery partition completely.... I have no clue how it did that, but now, the "IMAGE CRC" option shows 0x0 for recovery.
Now, the "fastboot oem rebootRUU" command just reboots to the white HTC logo, not the black one anymore (I managed to get it twice at the beginning, but not anymore after the recovery flashing attemps).
I am not new to flashing roms, I used to own a GS3 LTE, a Nexus 5 and a OPO (bacon). Now am using an OP3. But... I am new to HTC and this phone drives me crazy.
Given the fact that it does not charge well, I would go for a hardware problem... but wanted to check here first.

Things attempted so far

Thanks, when you run the "IMAGE CRC" option from the hboot menu, what's the output for recovery, 0x0?

I have managed to install TWRP.
The various supposedly stock roms I've found as zip files are corrupt: I can't open the zip file, the zip refuses to install via fastboot flash, via sdcard, or via TWRP.
Would you please have a link for legit stock rom for this model? Thank you!
