Can't complete initial setup - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone.
Today i was trying to do a fresh installation of my ROM. SO i did a re-flash doing a Clean Install.
After that, everything loads up properly and I get to the Initial setup. At this point I choose my language, then choose my network and click on Next. I get the "Checking info" part and I can't go further.
I'm getting an error saying "There was a problem communicating with Google Servers. Try again later". But it's been hours and still can't get to it.
The problem is that, I can't move forward without this, so I'm stuck and can't use my phone. Any ideas on what could have happened? Is there something I can do?

Hmmm.... could it be the infamous Cyber attack everyone is talking about?

I don't have problems but you can try without sim card and skip wifi connection or your device is frp locked?

I was able to fix the issue. But then, the reason I did the wipe in the first place is still there. It seems I have a hardware issue. The auto rotation fails, and after trying all the workarounds still fails.

[Q] BMB4 Wifi Issue (not wifi calling)

Since upgrading to BMB4 I am having an issue at work where my phone will not switch between access points properly. It appears to be a problem with the phone *disconnecting* from the access point when I no longer have a strong enough signal. If I walk from my desk to another part of the building, it still says I am connected with a strong signal, even though I am not connected at all.
In fact, several times when driving home I have looked down after realizing I haven't received any e-mails in a while to see that my phone still thinks I should be connected to the wifi at my desk.
The only workaround I have found so far is, if I go from my desk to another part of the building, turn wifi off and back on, then do it again when I return to my desk, or anytime I notice that my phone thinks I have a strong wireless signal but I don't.
I tried a full factory reset, but no dice. Had absolutely no problem prior to BMB4.
Anyone else seen anything similar? Any ideas? Anything buried in the service menus that could be wrong? If not, would rooting and reflashing the radio be likely to help (can you give me a link to the right one to try if so)?
Thanks!
The radio wouldn't have anything to do with it. You are probably a victim of just some simple file corruption. It happens, I see this more with OTAs than anything. That "transitioning" from one OS to another while attempting to preserve precious data.
I would recommend you root it, install "TWRP" 2.5.0.0 for your device (which is basically a recovery or "bios" for the device - or basically a kernel), and then install a ROM that has been updated to BMB4... off the top of my head, i would say you should give tweaked 2.0 a try. It's solid (others are as well, but i know for certain that one will give you zero issues similar to the one you are reporting.)
The links for twrp, with instruction on how to install can be found in the "orginal development section" and the tweaked ROM can be found in the plain "development section" of the forum here.
As I said, very likely that your issue can be resolved by starting 100% fresh. New system install (which is not formatted when you wipe data obviously)
So again, root, install twrp recovery, install tweaked 2.0. Follow directions to the T.
Good luck
I was reading and wondering if I actually wrote that question. That is EXACTLY what is happening to me since the update. I never have an issue at home, it is just moving from AP to AP at work and also being 'connected' when I am miles away from the AP. I don't really want to factory reset, so I tried turning off wifi power saving using "*#0011#" and that seems to be working...

[Q] (Ace II x) Issues with cellular networks and connecting to them

So stupid me was fooling around in the *#197328604# menu and I accidentally screwed up my IMEI number (whoops my bad. not going in there again). After watching a YouTube video (Found via Googling), I managed to restore it (It now once again matches the IMEI on the bottom of the phone's box). However, I still have no cell service.
1. When I have the phone on the lock screen, it says "Emergency Calls Only". From time to time it may also say "Invalid SIM" or something along those lines.
2. When I look for mobile services (Settings -> More Settings -> Mobile Networks), it pops up an error, "Insert SIM card to access network services", even though the SIM card is inserted.
3. Sending a text message fails. It just says it will wait with it until a network is available.
4. Placing phone calls fail. "Not registered on network"
5. The phone can read the SIM though. Going to the Contacts, and going to Import/Export has the SIM card options, and nothing goes wrong when selecting them.
Where can I go from here? I've cleared the Dalvik Cache to no avail as well. It almost works, so I think it's software related, or perhaps my SIM is malfunctioning, but I want to exhaust every possibility before going back and saying "my phone is acting wonky".
Have you tried a factory reset? If that fails, you might need to reflash the ROM.

Yeah. Resetting it failed. I can't get past the setup. After skipping WiFi setup, I just get a black screen and nothing shows. I may have to do a stock reflash. If that too fails, I may see if I can bring it in.
Edit: Stock reflash failed to fix it as well. Gonna bring it back and get it replaced.
Edit 2: Got a replacement SIM, didn't fix the problem. Seems it's hardware based (or software). Is it possible to remove all traces of a root before sending it in to make it appear unmodified?

It's not *#197328604#, it should be *#197328640#
been there lol

I've recovered from doing the exact same thing. It will take a lot of trial and error. What network are you on?

[Q] SlimKat 4.4.4 and WiFi Reconnect issue

First, I've had this issue since Build 6.8. I was hoping a Clean Install using Philz Touch Recovery v6.48.4, which is the latest, and selected Wipe Data and select Clean to install new ROM which Formats /data, /cache, /system. I also wiped Dalvik.
Once completed I did the following:
Clean Install of Slim-d2lte-4.4.4.build.7.0-OFFICIAL-5979
I then installed
Slim_full_gapps.BETA.4.4.4.build.7.x-190
Rebooted and waited for SlimKat to boot-up. WiFi/Data both full scale. Everything Restored just fine and things are running smooth.
Then after running a few errands outside of WiFi Range, I returned home within WiFi range only to find out that WiFi had not reconnected. It tells a WiFi connection is available but will not reconnect to it. So I go into Setting and select WiFi and tried to manually reconnect. It says connecting and then goes back to Saved Connection without connecting. This same thing on other WiFi connections such as McDonald's or other open WiFi Connections.
I then do a re-boot and everything is back to normal. WiFi connects without issue and again things are fine and running smooth.
Every time I leave WiFi range and then return within WiFi range, the problem re-occurs. A Re-Boot and everything back to normal.
One thing I've always noticed when doing a Clean Install as stated above, all of my previously stored WiFi connection are still there. Same on Ringtone/Notification Tones.
With the problem I'm having, could it be something that is not being wiped/cleared out during the Clean Install process. Or wondering if it could be somehow that the WiFi Radio has gotten corrupted.
I have also tried different Kernels but again the result is the same.
Hope this is not too much of a noob question and I have searched about everything I can think of. Wondering if anyone has had this problem or have any ideas of what could cause the problem.
I really hope I can get this figured out. Thanks
If you don't have to manually reconnect and enter your password, then its not being wiped. (Or you are restoring it from a backup.) Have you tested it after the clean flash, but before restoring anything? What are you restoring and how?
It sounds like a Rom issue otherwise and you should probably ask in the rom thread.

First I don't know what I've missed wiping. When I say restoring, I'm referring to letting Google re-downloading everything from the Play Store.
I know the WiFi radio are in a different location but like you, when I do a Clean Install by formatting /data /cache /system and wiping dalvik, I wasn't expecting all the stored WiFi connections to still be there, but they are.
Its possible its being restored by Google's backup, but I don't use it myself so I'm not certain about that. Its also possible the rom may save the config file elsewhere. Again though, I don't use cm/aosp based roms so I'm not too familiar with any of their specifics.
Next time you try a clean flash, do not sign into google during setup. Instead go straight to testing wifi to see if it still remembers the connections. Do you have it set to auto connect to any open networks? If so you might want to turn that off.
Have you searched or asked in the roms thread yet? It might be a known issue or something a few others have encountered and know how to fix.

Ya I don't sign into Google at the initial start up after the flash because my WiFi is no able to connect. I will double check the auto connect feature. But I having this issue with other 4.4.4 ROMs also because I tired however on those ones I am amvle to toggle WiFi on but in advanced it has the region set to Europe and when I switch it to Canada it doesn't want to save the change

[Q] should I update rom to fix sim card error

I need help knowing how to proceed with my daughter's tablet. I got her a used Note 8 from e-bay. The seller said they could not keep the sim card in. That was not a problem because we don't plan on using it with AT&T, and the price was right.
So the tablet comes and my daughter uses it for the afternoon with no problems. When I got home I was playing with it and put in an inactive sim card to see if it would stay in. It did, so I took it out and gave it back to my daughter. Now evey couple hours it gives me a message saying sim card added, restart your device to access the mobile network. If I pull down the settings menu it says no sim card. I cannot do anything though, so I am forced to restart. I cannot figure out what to do.
First I am not sure if I caused the problem by putting in the sim card for a minute or it was already there.
So I have tried a few things. The last thing I did was a data wipe, followed by clear cache, then I did a force stop on any at&t app. We still get the message.
I tried to update android as it is running 4.1.2 But is says it is up to date.
While trying to figure out what to do I discovered it is apparently rooted. I noticed it had SuperSU v1.80 installed. To check root I installed root checker from google play store. It says root access is verified. So I assume that is why I cannot update android.
Anyone else have this problem? I searched and couldn't find any solutions.
Any ideas on solving it?
Currently I am debating undoing root and seeing if I can update over the air. And hopefully fix the problem. Or updating with a custom rom to try to fix it. But I am not sure how to do that. It has been a really long time since I rooted anything.
I appreciate any help. Thank you, Sherry
When the message comes up I cannot do anything but access the settings drag down menu. It still says no sim card, but the message on the home page says there is and to restart. Must restart device. So after I restarted it I clicked on the notification that says no sim card for app info. It says it is system UI. At first I was hesitant to disable it, but finally gave it a try. It worked. No more sim card messages forcing me to restart. And so far everything works properly except for the background image. It is just a black screen. Everything else seems to function properly. Good enough for now I guess.

Galaxy A5 (FM520F) FRP issue

Hey everybody. I have googled a lot now but have not found an answer to my issue. I got an old phone from the company I work for to use as a personal phone for my child. The issue is that the phone was not resetted properly after taking it away from an employee and now when I want to set it up for my daughter there is a google message: "This phone was reset. To continue, sign in with a Google Account that was previously synced on this device". The issue is that the phone has been stuck in a drawer for a few years and no one remembers even who it belonged to. I thought I had the right person and we tried logging it in and at some point it even seemed that it worked but later on I still get the same message. I have gotten an ok from the company to do what I want with the phone (root, hack etc) but I really do not know anymore even know how to start. Tried flashing twrp through odin and recovery, did not work, got some error 21 or smth.
Has anyone good info how to fix it?
Thank you so much!
Hi Tanel what version is it on 520FXXUGCTKA?
Hello,
Exactly.
