Go to the devices "Developer Options" and scroll to the last category labeled "Apps" (at the very bottom).
There you'll find a few options that will allow you to do this exact thing and in other ways too.
Good Luck!

Tank you, the app that i found is really ****ty in fact
Is it normal, that the killed app remains in the recents screen? Is there a way to prevent this?

Hi guys I'm still quite new to the forums and have just purchased the XDA premium app for android but I cant seem to find how to favourite a thread so it will show in the favourites tab. all helps appreciated thanks!
It's cool man - find the topic you like, press and hold on it then choose subscribe. It'll then show up under favorites. I believe you have to from the list of topics though, not while you're actually viewing it. Hope this helps!

That is quiet not user friendly, since we have "subscribe" to receive email notifications for new replies...
Talking about confusing, eh?
yes, poorly implemented.
With such a large forum I thought favorites would be helpful to shortcut to the sub-forums I read.
subscribe to make a favorite. to me that implies I would get alerts for all new posts which I don't want. we'll see.

You can shortcut the forums you'd like.
Simply long press on it and a Create Shortcut option is the bottom option.
Also, no you won't get alerts for all new posts. The only way you get alerted for new posts, is if you subscribe to a single thread and change the option to get notified.

Geeze! So simple! But, this has been bugging me forever! Thanks!!
Hopefully this isn't too stupid of a question, but is there a search function for the app?

This needs changing to "add forum to favourites" with a heart icon instead of "subscribe." it's confusing if you don't know

Thanks in advance.

Ok i turned on the settings that should have enabled email notifications but still no notifications.
What setting turns them on?
I thought that i would get more help than this on here.
Are you talking about when you subscribe to a thread and what not?
If so, it is in settings>notifications. Cant remember the exact buttons to look for, but it is in there.

Please don't be a Debbie-Downer. It is kind of a turn-off when people see your request and then see you complaining about not getting help (especially when others have already tried to help). Rather than complain make a new post or ask again. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to be patient. Lol I have a question out there that hasn't been answered in months (granted I found my answer another way)! Sometimes people don't know the answer or assume that it's already been answered when they see multiple replies.
As to answering your question... Setting up notifications didn't work for me in either the XDA app or in Tapatalk. In order to set them up I had to go to the actual website. I'm using the XDA 2013 Beta so my instructions will be for XDA 2013 Beta.
If you'd like to switch to XDA 2013 Beta go to the very bottom left of your screen. There is a dropdown box, click it and select "XDA 2013 Beta".
Now on to the rest.
In the top right corner or your screen select the "Control Panel" (directly below your username).
On the left side of your screen you should see a gray box that says "Settings and Options". Below that is a menu option titled "Edit Options". Select it.
Once you're in the "Edit Options" section scroll down past the first little section and you'll see the section "Messaging and Notifications". You will see many sub-options, almost all relate to different email/messaging options. Play around with the ones you want and presto! You are good to go!

I already did that,i tried all settings in "Messaging and Notifications" before asking this question. And im on Beta 2013.Still no notifications.
I have an account on Phandroid.com and every time someone replies, thanks me or comments i get an email.
I think i had that on XDA before but not any more,it would be great if i could get it on here.
Does anyone actually receive emails for replies on xda or xda don't have this option?

K. That's something else entirely. When you subscribe to a thread it gives you the option to be notified. There are several options in the dropdown list, I normally do immediately for the important threads. I get emails all the time.
There isn't currently a system that notifies you when someone quotes you or thanks you though.
Good luck!

Hi All,
In CM9 for the Epic 4g (non-touch) I was able to use the Nova launcher's activities widget to gain access to the Quick Launch feature for Android installs with a hardware keyboard (to assign Search Key + [a-z/0-9] to launch an application) and it worked great (after figuring out how to get to the Quick Launch settings screen!).
In CM 10.1 I can use the same method to change the Quick LAunch settings, but no matter what key I assign an application, when I press the corresponding SearchKey + [a-z/0-9] the standard "Google Search" comes up. It is the same behavior as if only the Search Key alone is pressed. Has anyone tried to get QL working successfully?
Looking forward to your responses, thanks for reading.
I don't want to bump this topic, I know it's better suited under the developer's thread in the Developer's section, but I can't post there until I have 10 posts. Oh the tragedy.
Can anyone be kind enough to relay this question on that thread in the Dev forum?

Thank you very much! I'll keep up with that thread and will post the answer if I find it.
You may get it to work by changing the "Settings->System->Hardware Keys" and Enabling custom actions, setting the search key to In-app Search or no action.
... in the latest Chrome browser, after editing the post. If I pressed "Save" after editing, I just getting a spinning indicator.
But if I switch to "Advanced mode" everything works as it should be.
Update: same behavior/bug on "Post quick reply" button
P.S. Hmm... I'm confusing: it works now...

yup, @bitpushr should be aware of it and hopefully solve it for good some time in the future and its not the only issue XDA site is going through , so in the meantime the work around might have to do for now. :fingers-crossed:

Do you mean Swype?
I always use the "SwiftKey" Keyboard app that also has the Swype feature.
The Play Store link is:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey
But, someone had created the "Super SwiftKey" Keyboard that's the same as the Play Store version but, includes a ton of additional themes.

You might also try Gboard from the play store, I believe it's google's new keyboard. The swiping function is exceptional, best of any keyboard I've used. It has great prediction while swiping, often nailing your word before you're finished. Very fast and smooth. I thought I'd never switch from Swiftkey because their word prediction is so good when used as a regular keyboard, but their swiping wasn't smooth or fast enough for me. I'd given up on swiping until I tried Gboard. My experience could be device-specific, I'm on Nexus 5.
Thx
