How do I remove the on-screen warning from recent apps? - Moto G5 Questions & Answers

What bothers me so far is the message to split the app on the screen when we open the recent ones. :good::crying:

I only get that message when I press and hold an app for a while in recent apps. Not when I only open it. Is that the problem?

Same "problem" (more of a slight annoyance) here. The message is always showing there when I open the recent apps menu.

It disappears if you disable one finger navigation with gestures over the fingerprint sensor.
Before you ask, you can't have one without the other.

That also bothered me. But it went off by itself. Have used multi window 2 - 3 times and it finished with the recent button long press, and it was suddenly gone.

Actually the message was showing with one finger navigation enabled AND disabled. But after entering and exiting the split screen view a few times like suggested above it disappeared, even with one finger navigation on. So no more annoying message :good:

This is not a bug, it's a feature
It's a help message that tells people of the new Android feature (otherwise, how would the average Joe know of this gesture?), the same as with the help messages in the app drawer of old versions of Android. It goes away after you use multiwindow a couple of times.

Chrome randomly goes full screen

Hello everyone, I'm using Chrome as my main browser and there's something bugging me about its full screen behavior. Every once in a blue moon it goes totally full screen, hiding the Android bar at the top of the screen and I prefer this better. It makes use of the huge screen of the Note II. But then for most of the time it only hides is own address bar when scrolling down on a page and that's it. The Android status bar stays there and it's not total full screen. I've looked into the settings thoroughly but couldn't come up with a solution.
If you know what's going on please enlighten me. Thank you very much.

Chrome has gesture base feature for hiding action bar or address bar.
It is in built action and even no option for that in setting.
If you scroll down, action bar will be hide. If you scroll up, action bar will be visible.

If action bar is the bar with battery info and time and etc. It doesn't react to scrolling. Today I accidentally hid that bar and for a good couple of hours it didn't appear again no matter if I scrolled or tilted the phone. Now it came back. My Note II is as stock as it can be and I have no other issues with it. I'm confused now. Thank you for taking your time.
So you are talking about status bar. No chrome haven't provision for full screen without status bar.
But Samsung inbuilt stock browser having provision for full screen in settings. Check it out. May be you have observed in that browse.

I'm using Chrome. So what I'm experiencing must be some sort of a bug. Very very seldom this happens and I get a total full screen. I wish I could choose to have it that way all the time.
Thank you very much.
Adding pics. Maybe some of you also experience this?
I also have the Note ll and the same thing happens to me sometimes. I, unlike you, find this annoying and even though I don't know what causes it, restarting the app resets the bug. In case anyone wanted to know how to fix it.
If you have xposed installer ,using app settings app,you can use full screen to any app.

COOL gestures added to KK after minor update

guys did you check out the new small update of xolo kk??? it gives customized screenoff gestures unlike the one where you can just use gestures like "M" for camera... "C" for calls... and "E" for web browser... now you can set custom gestures all along... very happy!!! also they had fixed the security bug which bypasses the lockscreen after i mailed them... i've added screenshots check it out.. :good:

But they still haven't fixed one thing. Those three vertical buttons that show up in the upper left corner of certain apps despite the phone having Capacitive buttons. And it's a pretty big deal for me.

Also I think they should have given the option to set a gesture to unlock the phone directly... Or better double tap to open.... Possibilities are vast... [emoji3]

Fingerprint VS home action

Hi,
with my Mi5s with LineageOS, I have an issue, I use fingerprint (PayPal, NextCloud, other apps), I use home button ... focus and I must use fingerprint to unlock a new time. Is it possible to allow fingerprint to prevent all home usage ?
I'm on latest RR and was experiencing same issues. On RR there's an option to set hardware keys action. If there's such an option on Lineage too just change home longpress action to menu.
Sent from my MI 5s using Tapatalk
Same problem here...
If I change long press action to nothing, I return to home and must reopen app...
Didn't you read what I wrote above? I didn't say to change it to nothing. I said to change to "menu". It works this way for me in the apps that I use with fingerprint.

Turn off screen gesture

Hi all. New on this phone, I've searched for this but could not find, so maybe someone here could help me. Is there a gesture to quickly turn off screen (had a gesture on my old nexus that was double tapping home button)?
Thanks in advance!
You could try 'Edge sense plus' (check the play store) to use the squeeze function to turn off the screen instead of launching the assistant. Personally I use nova launcher and swipe up to turn off the screen.
I'm sure there are other alternatives as well, but that's my 2 cents
I use the app called edge gestures on the play store. Works very well for me!

Is that the app that costs 1,77? Wich are the possible gestures for screen off?
Do you have the possibility to use the fingerprint sensor to turn screen off?
Thanks!
Yeah it does cost some money but I can't remember exactly how much. There is a native screen lock option for Android 9+ and I don't think there is any fingerprint gesture. It's primarily for the edges of your screen.

You could try turning on accessibility menu in the accessibility settings if you don't mind having a small icon to the right of the pill at the bottom of the screen. When you click it, there are several options given and lock screen is one. It's not a simple gesture swipe or a simple double tap but it may be an option.

Tried that, and it works, it appears a person button, and when you press it, it gives a lot of options, and the lock screen is one of them. I will keep using until a easier solution if found. I can not believe android will not include a gesture option for this by default.
I hate to have to press a button to lock the screen, they end up breaking/wearing so fast.
Thanks all for your responses, and other solutions are welcome. Cheers! :good:

Forgot to mention though that with it, when you open the camera app, you'll get this '5 second burst' label on the screen that some find annoying but I, for one, don't mind it.
Oh and when you're down and feeling blue, that small person icon seems to be ready to give a hug so just look at your phone. Hahaha

Yes now thinking it could be a accesibility info. I really do not like it. Will keep searching for other options... Don't mind to have a extra menu, but would preffer a native app and not a installed one. :good:

It's swiping/tapping from either the left, right, or bottom of the screen.
I use Wakeup touch Nexus, which, apart from letting you wake the screen using the proximity sensor, also allows you to turn off the screen by touching an icon on the desktop https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wolandsoft.wtn

I found this very useful, i mean... not the app but it moved me to find the right one... and i found it!

This one can create a toggle in quick settings... (the padlock) its great!, you can use fingerprint to unlock, and all working fine (no root required).

Thanks, but looking for gestures apps or ways to lock the screen.
Check this widget out. It is invisible and adds double tap to lock functionality to any launcher.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jordigordillo.dtswidget
Works without root in Android P or with root in Oreo and lower. In both cases, fingerprint unlocking works afterwards.

There is a setting but I don't remember where it is. I turned off fingerprint because where I work I tend to get cuts on my fingertips from time to time(not deep but enough to make all fingerprint stop working for a few days).
If you root and delve deep into /system/priv-apps there is biometricsetting.apk and aodservice_v50.apk within these there is the fingerprint icons. You can replace these with blank png's converted to webp and have zero fp icon. I havent done this but I managed to change the icon to something else, and the ripple effect is changeable too
Good luck
Or, just go into setting>biometrics and security>fingerprints and just select the option to turn it off.
