Glonass problem - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have problem with my stock 7.1.2 Nexus 5X. I cannot get lock on Glonass satellites . Only GPS satellites seems to be working. I tried several GPS tester and nothing. Also tried second Nexus 5X and it's same. Also found info on google support forum, that this error appears after upgrade to Android 7.

As you can see on GPS Test screenhsot, I have no lock on Glonass satellites.

If I understand right, the GPS API of older Android versions did not officially return a "used in fix" info. Since Android 7 this is officially supported, but a new API has to be used for this, probably android.location.GnssStatus .

it seems previous version of android didn't actually get fix on glonass position, and now that the new GPS API is used in Android 7, the real status of GPS / Glonass is shown. I wonders if other device using Android 7 can really get Glonass fix because if they do then the problem is in nexus devices.

It seems to be same issue as 6P mentioned there.
I tried several other phones and Glonass works on them correctly. On 3 different Nexus 5X with Android 7 or 8 beta not.
But I don't have other Android 7 phone. On XDA or other forums are plenty of evidence that Glonass is working on phones with Android 7 like Oneplus5 or S8 (even Galileo). There are also similar Nexus 5x Glonass not working posts on google forums, but no answer.

Inaccurate GPS location after Kitkat Update

Hi,
I am on stock Kitkat and ever since the update, GPS has been behaving badly. GPS is showing a wrong location in google maps and also in whatsapp share location map. It was working well before the update. Anyone else facing this issue? How to solve this. I am on stock Kitkat and not rooted.
I had that issue with ingress, I flashed the latest g3 rom on the development section and the GPS is much better
Update: Infact, the GPS is not working at all. In the GPS option, if I select location based only on GPS signal, it didn't work in any GPS based apps. Tried a GPS test app too, no response. What should I do now?
Having the same issue here. Originally though it was the Google Maps app, but the GPS Test app fails to acquire satellites and shows status as "No fix".

Try going into the location setting and selecting this

Then make sure that the highest accuracy mode is selected
This worked for me after having the issue that kept saying waiting for location when trying to pinpoint my current location.

How to make the GPS not suck?

I'm on a 5.1 ROM but the GPS has always been complete crap on every single Samsung phone I've ever owned.
Without a cell connection GPS takes forever to lock, or simply doesn't.
Right now I'm in China. The following three screenshots were taken at the same time.
Stuck behind the Chinese firewall that blocks all things Google, Googlemaps can't get a lock.

GPS Status gets NO satellites.
Baidu Maps got an INSTANT "lock" the moment I opened it. I think it might just be a cellular triangulation lock or something since GPS Status shows zero satellites.
What the hell????
Is there some device driver that I can download for the GPS chip that allows it to actually get a lock? I've also noticed that when I'm out in the middle of nowhere with no data reception the GPS fails miserably in getting any kind of lock.
All it's good for is burning through your battery as you wait for a lock that never happens.
Maybe it's Google maps? Might also want to try an app called 'faster gps.' The problem with running aftermarket Roms is that you never know if it's the rom or a problem with the GPS itself. I for one, have owned many Samsung devices and never had problems with GPS, but I have mainly stayed with TouchWiz. That's what I suggest you give a try if with the app it still doesn't work
Try using the latest OFFICIAL firmware for T-Mobile variant Nk2 in a stock form, then test your GPS if it works then you'll know it was the unofficial 5.0 lollipop causing the problem.
Then you can decide;
Stock reliability.
Or
Custom unofficial caketup rom unreliability.

Nexus 5x sensors unavailable

Hey guys!
I recently purchased a 5x off of ebay for $200 and have been largely happy with it. Unfortunately, I've been noticing little annoyances, like not turning off the screen when I put my phone to my face. Not noticing when I pick up the phone, and not noticing when I try to rotate the screen into landscape mode.
I found some other users talking about re calibrating their accelerometers, but I think my issue may be a bit broader.
Testing with apps seems unresponsive on many levels. Using "sensor readout" app all sensors seem to have the same fate shown below. "Waiting for sensor to become available"

I don't know what that means
Edit: Newest n2g47w vendor image installed Still no sensors available
This vendor fits to Android 7.1.2 revision 12 and higher.
Still not working
Well, I just performed a "flash-all" with Google's most recent bullhead release
bullhead-n2g47w-factory-e4179e51
I am still getting "possible malfunction" in the app GPS status and toolbox.
I fixed it! I had installed the
H791-32GB-MDA89E TOT file, and repaired the sensors
Fine

False. I had to reflash the firmware

Which cheap tablet (with micro-sd) works with LineageOS?

I'm looking for a tablet with LOS suppport, but the official builds are for brand tablets that are either very expensive or very old (and still expensive, even if I buy a used one with worn-out batteray).
It's purely for website browsing, ebooks and an occasional movie - it doesn't even need cell support, Wifi-only is sufficient. It should have expandable storage with micro-sd though.
Could anyone give me a hint which current cheaper tablets have a LOS 19/18.1 build, or in case these aren't available even older LOS (an inofficial build is just fine)?
I'm asking because there's no 'tablet' list for LOS, neither official nor inofficial, and I'm completely confused by the flood of smartphone builds...
Thanks!
Asus Nexus 7 (2013)
Or check here:
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/
And search (CTRL+F) for tab or pad, that'll show you 6 as of now. Unfortunately, some devices like the previously mentioned Nexus 7 won't show up (edit: by that search for tab)...
You can also try the same by using the switch "Show discontinued devices" on top, then there will be 39x tab and 6x pad.

It does show up at the google section:
Oh. Yes, yes, it's there, of course. Just one wouldnt find it with looking for tab/pad.
Sorry for such halfbaked precision

I have newer version and I repeat Google Wallet it's not working
The device does not meet the safety requirements
Did you activate beta testing or how did you got the update? For me there is no stable update available. Is the issue still existing?
I listed your issue within the "Vivo X80 Pro [Origin OS, CN Version] - Bugs & Experiences - Let's share" thread.
It's a stable update, I didn't activate beta testing and I will not.
Simply got through OTA
And yes, still same issue here
Also, as far as the Play Store is concerned, my device is not certified
Just got the new update and the device is certified again, then Google Wallet is working again
