Hi
I've got a brand new htc M8 and enjoying it immensely, but there's one thing that's worrying me. My first three or four charges were very quick--an hour or so from 60-65% but over the last few days charging has become an ordeal. I've read numerous forums and tried a number of techniques, most recently discharging to 10% then recharging (which took nearly 9 hours). I went out this morning and returned with 85% remaining. Plugged it in and Dashclock forecast three hours and twenty minutes to regain that 15%.
I'm using the charger provided, but have tried a number of others as well.Any other ideas out there?

if u have samsung lg or any original charger in ur house test it i normally have 1:50 or 2hr for fully charged
change ur USB CABLE
FIRST THING TO DO IS
CHANGE UR USB CABLE IF IT DINT FIX
SECOND THING IS CHANGE THE CHARGER AND USE ORIGINAL CHARGER FROM ANY MANUFACTURER
IF AFTER THAT UR GETTING SAME TIME CHARGING ITS UR PHONE MATER NOT CHARGER
Do you have fast boot enabled?
If so disable that, then power off the phone for a few minutes then power it back on and try to charge.
My neighbor had fastboot enabled on his and performance and battery life always sucked.. after disabling that he saw a lot better results.
Is your phone being used while charging? Is it getting hot while charging?
Get gsam and see what the mA is while you are charging. ?

But be careful when comparing charge rates, as the current drawn reduces as the battery becomes more charged.

Yes, but a bad cable or charger would be very low. Far lower than the norm. ?
The stock m8 charger is a 1.5 amp charger if your using a normal .5 - 1amp you'll notice a slow charge

Hi guys,
For those having the A70, does the "Super Fast Charging" feature work for you ?
With the original provided charger (with the "Super Fast Charging" logo on it), I need 3 hours to go from 9% to 100%.
So that is 1% every 2 minutes...
I do not consider this a "Super fast". I think it is "Decent" but would not go above that...
For me, this a severe disappointment... Unless of course I am doing something wrong
Anyone else can share his results for Super fast charging here ?
Regards.
Your phone must have an error. Mine lasts about 1:20 to charge from about 15% to 100%.

Hi,
Thanks a lot for your answer.
The phone... or the charger maybe ?
Is there something to enable to have that "Super Fast Charging" ?
Or something to not disable ?
If I can solve battery drain (not really lasting as I expect) and this, I will think again about keeping the phone.
So far, it's more a non keeper
Regards.

Hello . Do you charge it with the screen closed? Only then fast charging works! IF yes then something is wrong with either the cable or the charger .You could also try a factory reset !

Hi,
Thanks for the info => Super Fast Charging only with display off ?
So if I leave "Always On" it will not work ?
Maybe that is why...
Anyways, I did as you suggested : I have done a full factory reset, and I have installed the bare minimum of Apps.
We will see about battery drain an battery charging.
I'll keep you posted.
Best regards.

Hi Sufyan3D,
Thanks a lot for that info...
I've made sure that the fast charge is enabled.
So far, the device is still at 100% so I can't say if the problem is "solved", but I'll make sure to report if now it charges as it should
And also about battery drain...
Regards.
That's correct! OK check it now and tell us! No battery drain, this thing is a beast! Keep us posted!

Hi,
So far, I cannot tell about the Fast charge.
But the phone is almost idle (really gently used) with "Always on" enabled.
It's been idle since about 3hours and battery is at 98%.
I consider this a rather good result.
Hope it'll stay as it is once I install all my apps...
If not, I'll try to track the culprit for the high battery drain.
Regards.
I have same problem, after reading your post, I drained my battery to 9% and charge, it so slow while charging.

Hi guys,
Well I think it is confirmed that my phone has a problem.
The battery drain is more than acceptable.
I drove my kid to school yesterday. It is a 80 minute trip to go there and come back.
While I drove her, I used the A70 as a GPS whilst it was connected to car audio with Bluetooth.
Battery drain in 80 minutes was a little less than 10% which is quite good I think...
Then I played a bit with the phone and went to bed.
This morning it still had 84% battery.
So that is about 2% battery drain overnight.
Not stellar but acceptable.
So I decided to hook it up.
The battery panel reports "Fast charging plugged in".
But after 40 minutes, I am still at 98% charge.
That means 40 minutes to get 10% battery.
I am aware that the last 10% are the longest, but still... 40 minutes for 10% ?
I will test with another charger to see if it is the phone or the charger...
Regards.

Download a free app called "Ampere" from the Play Store, to measure your charging current. Plug the phone into the charger then open the App to get the measurements. Post your result here and compare with other A70 owners.
App shows that my charging current is around 1100mah (with the 25w charger)
I landed here as I was surprised how slow my A70 was to charge. It takes around 3 hours to get from 15% to full, using the included Samsung 3A charger & original cable. Ampere shows the current trickling in at around 850mA. Super Fast Charging is enabled. My previous phone was a Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite which charged at around 2A according to Ampere.
PS I found this link which suggests most of the fast charging happens early in the cycle https://www.sammobile.com/2019/05/02/how-fast-is-samsung-25w-super-fast-charging
The Charger is rated at max 2.77 amps and 9 volts for fast charging. It will vary through the charging cycle though. Towards the end, above 80%, the charging will slow. How long does it take from 15% to 80% and what is the measurement in the middle of that?

I've never tested it. I have fast charge turned off. I charge my phone over night. The battery lasts me all day every day.
Samsung A70 Failed!!
I think A70 is failed in all fields.
No porper GCam. And now batteries.
My device getting charged in around 4 hours with original cable and charger.
Now I think I invest 27k in wrong item. OnePlus 7 or realme 3 pro was far better than A70.
It's just name Samsung, nothing else. Blank box with tag of Samsung. Really disappointing with this.
Sorry to fans of Samsung devices. But I don't like this. After 2011 (Samsung Galaxy Y s5360), I think Samsung is better nowadays but I was wrong. I will never buy Samsung phone again.

I am not facing such issues in my device. Regarding development, for a device like a70, development is always slow. We have the source codes available. The only thing missing is developers onboarding to support the device. If at least 1 dev puts the kernel and device source codes and tree in github, I bet development will start soon after.

I took some readings with Ampere during a charge:
0 mins 8% battery 4050mA
30 mins 38% battery 1060mA
60 mins 52% battery 1050mA
90 mins 66% battery 1020mA
120 mins 81% battery 1080mA
150 mins 91% battery 1000mA
180 mins 100% battery
So 3h from nearly empty to full which is not exactly fast. Is this in line with what others get?
Very odd ever since the phone died since it was really cold out ( i left it in car for a few seconds and looked at my phone and it was dead ) its been shuting off or dieing around 10% left but drains normally. but can still turn it back on once its plugged into a wall charger. so im not sure on what to do cause i mean i only had it for a year now.
it happens with mine too, 2-3 weeks ago.
I had 40%+ and after few sec, was dead too.
I turn it on with 1% battery lol
was thinking of letting it die once then letting it cable charge not fast charge saw a video for an older phone to do that with some call code to reset the battery gauge

I have the same problem since a few weeks.
The percentage drops from 15% to zero.
Mine was a bit different, I was in 13% and then when I plugged in the cable to charge my phone, it showed I was actually in 6%. My friends, our phone is aging
Since it became cold outside I'm having the same problem
Yes
I had this problem with my Galaxy A5 2016 and now with my Galaxy S9...
Never go under 10% if you can't charge within 1 minute or better less. That's why I have a battery case.
So I think I fixed mine a video is for a note 4 ut I think it worked for mine also. Make sure your phone is almost dead and turn off fast charging then go to the phone dial up (built in app) and dial *#0228# and click the quick start (this will restart your battery gauge) let it die then charge to full might take longer but it's worth it.
My S20+ exynos is charging slowly. Its taking around 1 hr 40 min - 2 hr to charge from 5 to 100. Super fast charging is turned on and when i plug in it states 1 hr 10 min to charge. This seems to be happening from last 4-5 charge cycles. Phone is on latest software(ATCT). Any ideas what to do.
For me it takes 1h5m mostly (15%-100%)
Maybe do you have bad USB cable?
Tapatalk - SM-G986B
If you are using a cable other than what came with the phone, that is usually the culprit.

Bro I am facing the exact same issue on my galaxy S20 exynos. I think it is due to the April update installed, as I saw many comments regarding S20 ultras slow charging speed after the update. Anyways please let me know if you find a solution.

Maybe it's only recent or in certain regions? Either way it's clear it has some issues. I've noticed charging issues on ATCT myself
Funny... I've been thinking about *not* using the Samsung 25W charger that came with the phone and use an older sub-10W charger based on the idea that pumping huge current into the battery quickly prematurely shortens its life.
Plenty of articles talk about this.
The cynic in me thinks that manufacturers are pushing the convenience of warp/super/ultra/whatever fast charging knowing full well that users will F**K up their batteries at ever faster rates than before, thus creating a growing captive market for their latest mega-fast charging phones.
All my previous devices had replaceable batteries so I was less concerned with longevity, but having shelled out a not modest sum for the S20 (all my previous phones were superseded eBay items) I really want to get the longest life possible out of it.
I've got it plugged into an HP 1.5A USB charger and Accubattery thinks it should get from 35% to my target 80% in 1h16min, which I think is acceptable. I bought the fast travel charger and fast car charger at the same time, so I'll reserve these for "emergency" recharging and not use them by default.
Anyone else with similar thoughts?
It could be the April update. Mine says "Super fast charging" while I'm plugged into my 25W brick, BUT it only says "Cable charging" if I charge it through my laptop (USB-C) while previously it said "Fast charging". Has anybody experienced the same?

Bro I just found a solution. Not the best but it works. My phone heated like hell even when idle and of course while charging too which resulted in slow charging speed, so what I did is wrap a cold cotton cloth around it while charging to keep it cool, and boom 50% charged in 30 mins. Earlier it took 1 hour for 50% charge.
For the cold cloth, I wet a handkerchief and squeezed the water out, thus ensuring there is no water to deal any damage (although the phone is ip68 rated).
Of course this is not a permanent solution but it works.
Hope it helps :good:

I have the same problem and as pointed out by vanditsadaphale it is related with the temperature of the phone. Mine charges 30% in 30 minutes instead of 50% as advertised and always is > 35.0 degrees Celsius. Also a **** of battery life with screen on time at 5hrs after almost a day of use with 60 hz...
I have the same problem with my S20 snapdragon version ....
Before update:
Super charge and fast charge were fine with same cable and same charger (aftermarket one support 22watt charging)
After update:
With everything in BATTERY SETTING got ticked. It only charges at slowest speed.
Plugged into supercharging port - no response, no charging
Plugged into QC3.0 port - slow charging

Hi all!
I have a 2 weeks old S21 FE, and a brand new Samsung original 25W PD adapter + original USB-C to USB-C cable. I am very disappointed with the charging speed, both for wired and wireless charging. I have obviously enabled fast charge & fast wireless charge in settings. The cable, socket and so on is 100% fine. The phone's diagnosis tool reports that all is OK.
WIRED: At 27% battery, estimated 62 minutes left to fully charged. At 55% battery, estimated 45 minutes left to fully charged. At 87% battery, estimated 26 minutes left to fully charged.
WIRELESS, with a 15 W charger+same adapter/cable as above: At 13% battery, estimated 3 hours and 50 minutes(!!) left to fully charged. At 55% battery, estimated 2 hours left to fully charged. At 72% battery, estimated 73 minutes left to fully charged.
Is this really normal?
The Samsung chat person suggested:
1. Charge/discharge the phone 2-3 times after it's new, to "stabilize the battery". I guess I haven't fully charged/discharged (100%/0%) 2-3 times. However, I do not really believe it's gonna work.
2. Reset all settings. I'd rather not - as I will lose some hours of customizing-work. I do not believe this will do it, anyway.
3. "We have a fast charge adapter on the website, it's supposed to work very well". Obviously, and not surprisingly, the ***** haven't read what I wrote.
4. Activate Secure Mode and test again. Did it, doesn't have any effect.
5. And here it comes, the suggestion they really like you to try, but the one that you don't wanna try after customizing and downloading and getting stuff just as you want it: reset to factory settings!!! The favorite customer service way to "help". Obviously, I'd rather not.
So.... Any owners of this phone (or similar)? What's your charging experience? Does it "stabilize" after som charge/discharge?
Thank you so much, I appreciate it. Great phone, apart from charging speed....
Can confirm minutes for wired, same here. Samsung is not the best in case of charging speed
Put in airplane mode or turn off for better speed. Once phone is hot it stops charging completely, they have huge battery protection I guess. It may also limit the charging speed by default
Thank you. It seems strange though, because I have a Samsung A52 phone for work. It is a quite basic phone, but charges incredibly fast. I have tried the A52 supplied charger on the S21 FE, but still the same slow speed... The A52 charges 0-100 in much less than an hour, if I remember correctly.
Disappointed!
Not sure, if that helps, but you might check the app called AMPERE.
I will put the Google Play link below.
Every time I am troubleshooting the charging on any Android device I use this app.
It will basically tell you with what current is consumed by the device in real time.
My S21FE (SD888) can take max 3000 mAh (3 amps).
I would say it's not bad.
It gets anyways too hot to my opinion with the 3 amps , so I am charging only with max 1300 mAh ...
So install the Ampere app on the A52 and also on the S21 FE and let's see if the numbers will be the same with the same power-brick and cable or not ...

So I had a similiar problem here.. My issue was I got a 'moisture is detected in my port' message. Therefore my phone would stop charging.. when the error finally went away Fast/Super fast charging also stopped working.. I took my phone to a Samsung authorised service centre near me ( Closest Samsung was about 2 hrs away) They fixed my phone within 3 days. Replaced my port and the cable between the motherboard and charging block.
Now my phone works 100%
It might be the same issue maybe not. But maybe try different cables and chargers as well.
Otherwise take your phone in for repairs. It should be still under warranty and would cost you nothing.
It seems like the s21fe has a lot of dud phones it looks like

Can confirm this. However after my repair I got over 3000mAh charge.
Before the repair it only did 800mAh
Mine is also faulty. Battery life is terrible and charging became very slow.
Using samsung 25w sfc charger.
Sending it to repair tomorrow.
But i must note that in all cases you must try a factory reset. It can fix a lot of user issues as well as glitches. But in my case the problem is hardware based.

Yes, there is something wrong with this phone. Mine has severe overheating issues.
Try taking it out of the case, in case you use a case. Helps a lot with heat dissipation and this phone needs all the help you can give it during the summer.
