Ram Dump - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

I was on N2G47E stock, flashed N2G47O and my Pixel xl wouldn't get past the dancing dots screen. Tried entering bootloader mode and got a Ram Dump screen. My phone is now on its way back to google. Can anyone explain what might have happened so I can avoid it in the future?

I kept holding vol down + pwr through that screen until it goes black then let go and hold them again and it goes to bootloader

^^Exactly this. I found myself in a bootloop Sunday night and holding vol down + power during the Ramdump screen got me into the bootloader. From there I went into recovery and set things straight.
May I ask, how did you flash N2G47O? I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the OTA or the image you flashed also provided you with the May bootloader which causes bootloops if you have TWRP as your recovery. A solution was found in another thread to flash the April bootloader instead.

I was stock, not rooted.. I flashed it in adb. I could exit the ram dump and could eventually get into bootloader but adb could not see the device. I tried factory reset and the issue didn't go away.

Once you are in bootloader adb does not work. You use Fastboot while in bootloader. You absolutely could have flashed back to stock at that point. Could have saved your data, settings and apps too. Just edit the flash-all bat file, remove the -w from near the end, save it and run it.

Sorry. I always use adb as a generic term. My devices wouldnt show up. How could I flash if it is not recognized. It almost seemed like the flash completed successfully and in doing so adb debugging was turned off as it usually is.

anybody else having trouble flashing any stock image on ubuntu? i keep getting the ramdump screen and can get into the bootloader fine but i seemed to have screwed up my boot slots a and b and cant flash a stock image for the life of me. any help would be greatly appreciated
Finally had time to figure out my issue...all you do is update fastboot to the latest which is I believe the 12th of May. Fixed everything and now can flash the boot images to slot a and b...

HTC one x bricked need help...

I just flashed a arhd rom a kernel and InfinitySound mod and then my phone was stuck in the htc quietly brilliant screen...
The main thing is i can't even enter the bootloader with "vol+power down" help please...
Keep pressing the power button for more then 5 second and you will see the 3 buttons blinking. After that phone will restart and then press volume down to enter in hboot.
Then look on xda a tool with witch you will flash a stock kernel.
Perhaps this is the solution for you

Hold the power button to force a reboot. As soon as your HOX powers off press and hold vol down, keep holding until you enter hboot. It might take a few attempts

Does your phone keeps rebooting?
If so, it sounds like you haven't flashed the correct boot.IMG
You need to flash the correct boot.IMG that is for the kernel you flashed.
-----
As for boot loader, why don't you just use the adb command?
adb reboot bootloader
As for the button combination not working, you need to hold both power & volume down at the 'exact same time', and don't release them until your boot loader screen shows - even if it does an extra reboot, keep them held!

I am having the same problem, and i forgot to backup my previous rom. I rooted, and unlocked my phone, then i tried to install the rom, it installed. however now it just stays in the spinning loading sign for CM10. Is there anyway of putting another rom on the >fake, ie internal> sd card, which cant get removed from the acctual phone? so then i can install that rom? i have tried reinstalling the rom but that didnt work

If you have cwm 5.8.4.0 you can mount the sd card as usb drive.
Don't forget to flash the boot.img that goes with the ROM.
fastboot flash boot boot.img
You are probably forgetting to flash boot.img using fastboot from your pc, from your description. After flashing boot.img, issue a
Fastboot erase cache
Or you will most likely get bootloops.

Stuck on boot animation

Hi,
I unlocked via LG dev my phone yesterday, it worked fine, then installed TWRP and SuperSU. Then I restarted my phone and now I do net get into any bootloader anymore. I can use the Hardware Button combination to get into IMEI display screen, but nothing more. I always get the screen Bootloader unlocked then get into LG Logo animation and that's it.
Nothing more.
Sometimes I can start over and over again and I can get my phone recognized by adb, but it says "unauthorized" or "offline".
What can I do now?
Or is it bricked and cannot be used anymore?
edit: I got it in that state that I am not authorized with adb.
I put my pub key in /data/misc/adb/adb_keys on the SD Card, but it seems that its not working...
bye LG
I can use LG Flash tool until the screen to flash the image, then it gets stuck on 0% on my phone and the connection is failed.
What else can I try?

I can only use the combo to get into IMEI Display screen. Then I can get into boot animation screen. I cannot get into TWRP.
I can use lg flash tool 2014 and it will get until the screen on phone is at 0% copying, but it will not go further.
And I can get the phone to be regognized from adb, but it is unauthorized. What can I do that it will be authorized?? Is it possible to do that without being into andoir OS?

Do you have tried this exactly?
The only valid and always working and supported way on getting with a hardware key combo(!) into twrp is using the factory reset screen.
Any other key combo like vol up + power depends on the kernel of the ROM! So it may work or not. Factory reset will work always.
For this you have to ensure that you have the latest twrp version really installed(!) because if twrp sits in recovery it will ignore the factory reset command when going through it.
Power down and pull out the battery. Do not forget to remove any USB cable.
Press power down and hold it down. Put battery back while keeping vol down pressed. Press power button and keep now both buttons pressed. When you see the LG logo the first time just release the power button for 1 second ( do not release vol down ) and then press power again and keep both pressed until you see the factory reset screen.
Once you see that screen just go through the steps like you would do a factory reset. If twrp is installed you will just open twrp without wiping any data. Again it is mandatory to have twrp installed otherwise it would really reset your device.

It is still the same problem. I can use the LG Flash tool, but it won't start the flash. It is stuck at 0% and the Flashing Tool says that the connection to server is failed.
I can still go into the reset menu, but it will do nothing.

Stock Boot-Loop, out of options!

I was at work the night before, and my capacitive buttons stopped responding, so I went for a restart in hopes they would kick back on, this just caused my phone to enter a boot loop. Soft resetting and hard resetting both continue the loop, trying to enter recovery mode throws me back into the loop, entering download mode locks the phone on the small HTC screen. I tried to flash the current RUU onto the phone, but it won't proceed with the install due to a low main battery error despite the fact I've had it charging for 6 hours. The only thing I can think of doing now is sending it back in hopes they fix it, but theres a lot of information I ignorantly haven't backed up, and now can't access before sending it back.
If anyone has any helpful tips or ways to move forward I would be grateful.
you might be able to intervene in the process. when the phone restarts (ideally right after it restarts), hold Volume Down until the grey HTC logo appears, From here, you are in the download menu (or what is now basically the fastboot). If you are stock, you can unlock the bootloader if you havent already and flash a custom recovery (TWRP). Being in TWRP will give you USB access to your phone. And it will provide the ability to flash ROMs, including stock ROMs. Beyond that, you could always try a factory reset from either the download or the bootloader, but not much else I think you can do.
Someone might have more information than me though

Try the same thing, but this time with Volume Up, hold it until the FTM menu appears. From here, you should be able to access the bootloader.
If that also does not work holding Volume Up and Down at the same time takes you straight into the bootloader. Sadly, unless you are S-OFF, there is not a lot you can do from this menu. I dont think it accepts the fastboot commands, particularly fastboot flash commands. But if you can get into the bootloader, and then try each option, download, recovery, etc.
If you get into the recovery, it will be stock (unless you flashed a custom ROM). You have to press volume up twice to access the options, but if you get stuck, hold volume down and power and the touch keys on the bottom flash. After about 15 flashes the phone reboots.

Holding Volume up just continued the loop, I can get into the bootloader like you said, but theres not very many options, download locks the phone onto the HTC logo and doesn't proceed, the recovery option just restarts the phone into the loop.
Im afraid then, that I am out of suggestions for the time being.
Presumably your phone was charging whilst off, and not boot-looping?
Otherwise you can power down from the bootloader and try charging it. That may give you a better chance with the RUU

Mine does not charge either...and RUU does not work because of the battery < 30%
The funniest thing is that I've never touched this phone either (stock, no s-off, no unlock, no custom recovery, just updated via OTA to get Nougat), it just ran out of battery during the night and found the boot loop the morning after when I plugged it. Can't believe it could turn into a f...ing brick by itself.

My friends s7 completly bricked doing the N update. If you havnt done anything to your phone just take it back and get a new one.
Same exact issue here after the Verizon OTA update.
Failed after the first reboot after the update.
The storage was pretty maxed, wonder if that has something to do with it.

Bricked and bootloop after running fastboot oem lock

HTC 10 was running Viper10 ROM, booted into download mode and ran fastboot oem lock so I can RUU and send my phone back for a return.
Phone now bootloops immediately after turning on, HTC logo comes on for a split second and it just turns off again. I can't access or do anything. I can't boot into recovery, the phone won't let me do anything.
Am I ****ed?
I had a very very similar issue. Was getting bootloops right after the bootloader which is a good sign, fyi. It's only a soft brick.
I fixed the issue by restoring my stock firmware via TWRP. that's always your safe place and seeing you're a senior member I hope you made TWRP backup before you got funky with flashing.

How do I boot into TWRP?
As soon as the phone turns on, it just instantly turns off again or it loops when it's plugged in until I unplug it.
No button combinations work and the PC won't detect it.

Stuck :( TWRP flashing screen

So I was trying to install TWRP on my phone. I have a Mac and was looking at some online guide. I had a pin set-up, and this is what I did:
1. Installed ADB and fast boot
2. Unlocked the boot loader on the phone
3. Check the terminal commands that the device is connected correctly
4. Had the ABD and TWRP img files on the phone.
5. Tried to fast boot TWRP.
What is happening now is that I'm stuck on a boot loop of a TWRP screen, the screen if flashing and won't load. I'm guessing to let the battery die out over night
I was looking at a few threads and some say that I should flash the factory image. Everyone is saying flash the stock file... However, I can't even get the phone to turn off or go back into bootload mode for my computer to recognize the phone.
Any tips?
Hold volume down and the power button down. Keep it held down might take sometime but you should get to the loader. boot twrpRC1 flash rc2 after getting in twrp. You could also start fresh by fishing factory once you get back to bootloader
Long press power button to shut it off
or press power button and vol down together and will take you to fatsboot mode and from there you can use volume button to seltect bootloader or recovery
I don't do pin's so I'm not familiar with the hangups involved with those and TWRP.
But I guess the first thing I'd do is remove the pin lock.
Then power down phone.
Wait 30 seconds!!!!!
Press power + volume down until phone powers on, then let go.
Should boot right into bootloader.
Fastboot boot twrp.
Install TWRP from the fastbooted TWRP.
I'm not familiar with the Mac process but on a PC we need to fastboot into TWRP from an image file on our computer first, and then flash the file on the phone.
I recommend keeping a copy of the boot signer on your device, flashing this fixes most of these types of issues I have found, especially with new rom upgrades etc.
Did you let the phone fully boot into the system after unlocking the bootloader, or did you immediately try and boot twrp?
I've had this problem twice before, both after a fastboot unlock, and I had to let it fully boot into the system before proceeding

Hey I think that was it. I immediately tried to boot twrp without letting the system fully boot.
Thanks you all for the support. Go XDA!
The first question everyone should be asking is if OP was on the O Beta previously.. If that is the case Op needs to flash the factory image in both slots.
Put phone into the bootloader
Flash all bat
Put phone into the bootloader
fastboot --set-active=other
fastboot reboot bootloader
flash all bat
fastboot boot twrp
Even if OP wasnt on the O beta, this should fix the issue.
After successfully flashing Oreo, I am seeing the same flashing/looping TWRP (twrp-3.0.2-0-RC1).
Long press of Pwr restarted the phone.
Rinsed & repeat a few times.
Any thoughts to flash TWRP (temporarily)?
