How about learning to search the forums using the "Search All Forums" at the top instead of creating a whole new thread on the same subject?! No one likes to help those who don't help themselves first by trying and starting a whole new thread is not the definition of trying to help yourself!!

Please clean up this thread mods...there is so little on actual android development, he rest is off topic or barely on top and hence deserves in Q&A or General !

p.s. I vote for finding some new aggressive mods to clean up the sub forums... alot of repeated questions keep popping up all over the place =(
WE have a Q&A thread for a reason...eg barebones rom is not development, its Q&A, 1080p playback is general until it stops being just speculation.
And hell I love NOLED but it's an app.

What do you understand by "Development"?
If NOLED (application developed exclusivelly for our SGS) is not supposed to be here, then what? Are the ROMs discussions and MODs better candidates?
Should we change the name from "Galaxy S development" to "Galaxy S Technical discussions"?
in my opinion the worst spam topics are the many "bricked my SGS please help immediately"

Developer forum should be for apps, roms, firmwares, etc.
This could relate to this other thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=764084
If we can clean the forum and keep it clean (with good active moderators) it should be easy even to merge galaxy s forums and have all interesting information in the right place

Firmwares Technical Feedback /
ROMs /
Rooting /
Tweeks /
MODs /
Applications created by members for our SGS
Yeah, I think topics need to be clarified. Q&A should be "Questions and Troubleshooting"
And development needs to clarify exactly what is covered, otherwise, technically testing new leaked roms might be considered development..

Yah...so I am infatuated with customizing my phone. Always have been since I had a Blackberry 8310. AT&T wasn't provided anymore updates for my phone back then...so I did it myself by forum hunting. But updating the Blackberry seems easy as cutting cake than rooting an android phone. So, here I am with my Galaxy Samsung III...and I have begun researching how to root. All the steps make me nervous. I have installed theme launchers, and widgets...but my phone just is not customized enough. I want FULL control. I want to have pink or blue font used in my status bar if I want to. I have tried apps to do this...but I am a perfectionist.
Is there a "Root Your Phone For Dummies" manual????

Sorry for posting in the wrong section. It was not intentional. I do, in fact, utilize the search function very well. This is a very large forum and it is difficult at times to find beneficial and resourceful information without searching for hours on end. I have noticed there are not-so-patient members who have attitude problems. In the midst of trying to weed through threads with questions and responses that didn't help me, I decided to start a thread hoping a nice person would point me in the right direction; which they did. :good: I must have clicked the wrong section because of my frustration and confusion. I admit...I am a n00b when it comes to flashing and rooting....but using a forum is something that I have experience in as I use to run one myself.
I hope I don't get reprimanded for not posting the above information in the "Introduce Yourself" section. Sorry in advance.
No we understand sometimes it can get overwhelming trying to search for something. Be patient and see even if you open a thread if you do it in the right section you will have success. There are thousands of members in XDA ready to help others. We where all noobs at one time.
Have a great day!
Hello guys, I have finally flashed this amazing 4.4 KitKat rom on my s4, thanks to albinoman887 ROM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2520972 . I have problems with emoji support though. I only see several emoji's.
Is there any way to fix this ??

WIFI on 4.4 issues
Hi Guys,
I just flashed the 4.4 Kitkat for my GS4 from [ROM] CyanogenMod 11.0 | Android 4.4 KitKat [UNOFFICIAL] [Nov-11]. Everything work well except for my wifi. It finds my wifi but it keeps on failing to connect to it. Any suggestions ?
Thanks
Guys 4.4 is really new and really buggy. I wouldn't even recommend it as a daily driver as of now. I suggest you go back to 4.3 and edit until 4.4 had been worked on a bit more

There are also multiple threads on CM11 right now. No need for a new one asking questions that are answered repeatedly in the others.
I searched a a lot about this but couldnt find an answer anywhere. This is the reason I created the topic about this.
Otaku, I know mate but Im just trying some stuff out. I dont like to stop at 1 rom and use it for a long time, it's just way too boring.

I'm gonna go ahad and call shenanigans on your claim that you searched a lot.
The main thread for CM11 int eh development forum has roughly 9 bagillion posts about emoji issues with the ROM. Any search for "CM11 emoji" would have shown you countless posts from that thread alone on this topic.
When you signed up here you agreed to search before posting. Please uphold that promise.
Here is a great video you should watch to help you become a more valued member of this community.

Rules are meant to be broken.
Thank you for the answer to my question. I will search for it in the main thread, I also needed some posts to get the permission in order to post in android development board ....

and your just asking for a spanking from one of the mods with that line of thinking. Rules are there for a reason, follow them or dont post on the site.
Is there a forum where I can ask where sofa that do xyz exist and get discussion/recommendations?
I know there are device specific forms like 'Galaxy note 4 apps' but I'm looking for something more generic like 'Android apps'

That autocorrect though. :silly:
I'd recommend asking these things in either the General Questions and Answers forum or the Android Apps and Games forum, since there appears to be no forum dedicated to app discussion on XDA.
Hope this helped!
Hi. I'm currently using redmi note 10, and I was wondering if there is a custom rom like iOS for my Android phone? If not then why??
I mean I have installed "Pixel Experience" on my phone but why there isn't an "iOS Experience". I know there are many folks who'd love something like that.
I've tried searching for it and found none, there are some iOS launchers on play Store but they're filled with bugs and ads.
Please reply, Thanks.

If you want something and it doesn't exists, you can start developing it from scratch.
Remember that Android is open source, the sky is the limit!
