I got it yesterday and really wasn't impressed with it at all.... Kinda glad I didn't pay for it. Maybe I have to try more apps to really be sure but on first glance I thought it was really bad.

Too grainy for me..not crystal clear and gives me a headache looking at it.

Kinda grainy, not sure if its screen protector or if its normal
Screen door effect is not as bad as people made it out to be. The controller is nice and natural feeling. I suggest using both head straps when you get it. Facebook account is mandatory for Occulus related software. And if you want to browse the internet in VR, get the dedicated Samsung Internet browser app, not the built in Gear VR browser on the bottom menu.

It's more the playback quality... It just looks like a really bad 240p YouTube video... The way they made it sound I was expecting way better clarity and it really doesn't deliver that...
It would be better if it was in HD

it's been pretty good for me, with low expectations because I didn't see too many games coming out for it (I'm glad that promo gave us a few good games)
but still, needs work and more support
(Drop Dead) was a good experience for me plays a lot like house of the dead plus its free of course so very happy so far
not bad i guess, its not perfect but its free right
only few free stuff in the store mostly demo but over all not bad for a first time VR user
my 8yo daughter is loving it
Used it for about 20 minutes when I first got it. Haven't touched it since. Would have preferred a free SD card instead
Dead and Buried is fun as hell, so is Drop Dead. They make very good use of the controller. The 3 dimensional art in the "Oculus 360 Photos" app is pretty damn cool too, it makes me want to find more 3d art. I also enjoy taking 360 degree photos with my S8+ and then viewing the photos in the Gear VR. Watching videos isn't too bad either, you get that big screen feeling when you're no where near a big screen.
I havent received mine yet, did you guys get tracking in email? On samsung page it says gift sent but no date or tracking on it

I now have 3 of these things [1 from the Note 2 and 2 for S8 and S8+]. The controller is a nice addition. I've played a couple of games so far and enjoyed the experience. Downloaded a simulation of flying through the galaxy. That was really cool! I enjoy it for what it is.

Cris, I received email updates from Samsung with tracking info once it was confirmed sent.
As for the headset, I came in with no expectations and as such, was pleasantly surprised. My entire family thought it was 'cool,' and my wife has actually put in more hours playing Drop Dead than anyone else, lol.
For those with the 'grainy' concerns, have you tried adjusting the image with the scroll wheel thing on top of the headset? I didn't notice it was there until the second day. (I didn't read the manual)
Didn't use the one at all that I got with the S7 edge, not once, and still haven't used the new one. Shoulda sold em. Maybe I still will. Idk they're cool but only for like 10 minutes. That's just me.
VR streaming sucks. I download all 180 and 360 VR content.

After typing this I realized I did a play-by-play of his review
Is the main complaint he has about this phone really a complaint? I mean he bought the phone knowing that there's no 4G LTE in his area, so how can it be a complaint if he knew this from the get-go? I bought this phone knowing that there isn't 4G LTE in my area so I, for one, don't complain about it.
I also like the build of the phone, I will agree though it does feel slick at times, like it will slip out of your hands like a wet soap bar! I too put a rubberized case on my phone to give it some more grip.
I agree with BWFBezerk, it's not a WiFI bug it's (ah hem, to say it like Apple).. it's a feature... this feature can be turned off without a problem, I disabled it on my phone...
12 to 15 hours battery life with heavy use, SWEET! I don't know what is considered heavy or light use, I use my phone about the whole time I'm at work from 8-5 and when I come home my battery is at 75%, I'm running Sonic FreeS3 0.1.1 and I must admit the battery life is insanely great.. I'm guessing his is stock ROM... I thought he said the battery life is definite "NO" not "GO" haha, my bad
SuperAMOLED is, in my opinion, the best screen ever... this is why I continue to get Samsung phones... from the Samsung Moment, to the Samsung Galaxy S II and now the Samsung Galaxy S III
As far as the speakers go, man I wish we had a front facing speaker for when viewing videos on the phone..
His case is sweet looking, my case has a kickstand on it too and it allows me to prop it up landscape and portrait
I'll have to agree with him, I really like the TouchWiz on this phone too... even thought I have a custom ROM on it, I only have that ROM on because it keeps the phone as stock as possible. One thing I didn't like about the stock TouchWiz though is the fact that the quicksetting automatically scrolled to the right.
Use the power button to get the recently used apps? Did he miss identify the button?
You know that 2 is more than 1, man I like this guy, he's doing a great review... I like how it's raw and uncut... real world as he says... no LINPack and all that...
I might have to hack my home button, I never use S-Voice anyway..
Direct Call is a definite GO!
Tap to Top, thanks for the explanation!
I can never get my screenshot to work swiping my palm from right to left, I can only get it to work from left to right... haha
I use Task Manager daily
This is a really good review, thanks for posting the link!

I want y'all to convince me as to why I should get a note 2. I like to hear from the one's who owned a s3 and went to that note 2 also the one's who skipped the s3 and just went for the note 2. I'm thinking about selling my s3 on eBay for this phone. Just like to know of it's really worth it.

Nobody needs to convince you. Go to the sprint store and play with their demo for 15-20 mins, use the stylus the whole time.
You'll get your answer better that way because it IS a sizable size difference to hold and that's the biggest issue I've found so far. But I'm getting use to it darn quickly. ha

very easily, this.
just to reiterate, my 2 cents:
the size was only weird for about 2 days, now it feels mostly normal.
but the battery, the CPU, the screen? all big points to win with.
runs All day with Heavy use (games, chat, SMS/MMS, music, +plus all the other stuff), and some to spare for when i get home
(the only exception to this would be using Nav, but you should be powering your phone when doing that anyway...)
never stutters, never lags, runs every damn thing i throw at it, and sometimes two things at once. aaaaaaa. mazing.
movies/youtube look fan-freaking-tastic on it. pictures look fantastic. games look fantastic. reading feeds/pages/docs/anything at all, fantastic.
again, as far as the size goes?
got in a little tete-a-tete with some iFan on gizmodo about it:

well i came from the s3 to the note 2. at first it felt really big in my hands but after like 2 days i use use my wifes s3 and im like dang this screen is too small lol! anyways pull the trigger you wont regret it. the s pen makes this device better than the s3 by itself but you will notice the faster processor and netflix is really enjoyable on this thing. i was going to get a 7 inch tablet but now i don't need it.

Honestly i jumped on the note 2 as soon as it came out and sometimes do miss my s3. The size isnt an issue bc im 6ft 5 and can hold it with no issue. But the s3 is alot easier to handle with 1 hand. I sold my s3 and got a little over $500 for it bc i had alot of accessories so i only came out of pocket with about $150 for the note 2. If your happy with the s3 you will be happy with the note 2 bc it is very similar. But if you have to come out of pocket with alot of money to make it happen i wouldnt do it. I live in baltimore and theres some people offering $250 and there s3 for a note 2 and im considering jumping on it. Iam in no way sayin the note 2 is a bad phone all im saying is the s3 was and is still a very good phone and to me holds its own against any phone.

Ive had my Note 2 now for 3 weeks and I absolutely love it. from the Amazing low light Camera to one of the best Music players on any phone in the business, however, Im finding that Im ending up just using it like my Galaxy S3 or older S2, txting, phoning, wifi and play store, yet i know its capable of so much more. I tried the 184 page pdf manual, but what a joke that is.. theyve built an amazing device with the S Pen usable in every app, yet theyve wasted sections of the manual on how to just turn on/off Flipboard, Maps, Google Earth, Music Player, send a txt or activate wifi.. Really Samsung..
Ive looked on YouTube, yet videos on tips and tricks are scattered around and tend to repeat the same things alot..
So, is there a good website that teaches/explains about how to get into the deeper side of this beast and really use it.. such as S Pen and what it can do in apps, drawings, paintings, diaries and workbooks, how to use it properly
Using the Media player over the web and the HDMI/USB through TV and setting it up..
The deeper side of the camera and video player, great apps and editors and how the device really works.
It seems a shame to spend all that money and then just use it like a SGS2.
I found this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/My-Samsung-...&qid=1368029215&sr=1-1&keywords=galaxy+note+2
But do i need that or is there a good web resource out there
Thanks
Just go around open random apps and try out the settings.. you can probably figure out quite a lot of functions through that you might find useful.
To be honest there isn't much difference between note 2 and s3 other than the fact that the screen is bigger and you get s pen. So the point is to utilise the pen!

Well if that's the case, I doubt it'll be anytime soon. Seeing as there hasn't really been any leaks for a Google smartwatch so far.
Kreyos it is....for now.
I love the voice search thing. Hopefully it has full support for Google Now. A watch is useless without voice recognition.
However, I like to be able to stream music remotely to it and plug in my 3.5mm headphones. I know that's asking a bit much, but I think it's somewhat reasonable. Does anybody else think that should be a thing?
I'll wait for a Nexus watch. Google will have the most optimized watch for Android. Hopefully.
I backed this up the first day it was on indiepop. We'll see come november how it works with android phones. Even if an nexus watch does come out, I highly doubt it'll have a speaker, voice control AND be waterproof.
Ive been looking for a good smart watch for a while, have been waiting to see what comes about.
The nexus one i cant see coming out for a good 6 months + yet,
The new sony watch looks gorgeous but function is a bit boring, the greykos function looks good but i think
it looks ugly!
I thought so too at first, but I guess the design grew on me.

Haha. Smartwatch was implied, my good man. There is no way a watch can achieve its full potential if you can't enter text into it.

Been a fair while since the last post here, but just to let anyone seeing this know Kreyos STILL haven't sent out these damn watches.
The first 5000 have been sent via ship to the US but now have apparently been stopped by the US longshoreman contract negotiations, this being the fourth delay in shipping.
I've backed out and bought a Gear Live watch instead.
Android Wear shows far more promise than Kreyos' watches and I suggest anyone that wants their watch before Smartwatches are a thing of the past should just ask for a refund and get something that can actually ship before hell freezes over.

You still have to take it out of your pocket anyway. All the gear does is tell you you have an email or sms, doesn't actually show who from or the message at all. Kinda makes it useless in my opinion.
I do really want a smart watch myself and the only decent one is the pebble.
JaredC01 is right. The pebble still looks like a watch plus it gets decent battery life considering the screen is always readable and doesn't shut off unlike the Galaxy Gear. I can find out who's calling me, what's playing, what message they sent me without having to use my other hand to power the screen on (unless the gear has an accelerometer trigger to turn the screen on when flicking one's wrist). Sticking with my pebble until something better arrives.

I think they're trying to finish with the pre-orders first before being sold in retail stores (if any at all or maybe only online). A lot of people backed this kickstart project and the pebble orders piled up quickly. I backed them up last year on September and I just got mine this past June. Maybe the wait is less now, or maybe not.
I ordered my Pebble watch just under a month ago and it just arrived.
It's not about not wanting to take your phone out to look at, rather it's about being a little more subtle when checking updates. I can check messages and notifications with the same amount of disruptions as a wrist flick.
If you want something cheap get a Sony watch first or second version for 50-150 on ebay if you want a wrist communicator
But with the pebble you can do some useful things like delete messages, skip through songs, and other stuff that would be useful for say running or if you are at the office and don't want to be blatant about certain things.

I know I'm a little late to the party, but I bought my pebble a month ago in best buy. It was honerstly an amazing piece of hardware and works well. I didn't need to order it or wait. I had an s4 at the time a d it didn't work well with Samsung's talkback bug but I would buy again in a heartbeat... It's a smaller size to me. I usually wear large faces like diesel or breitling but otherwise it works better than the gear.

Questions answered about the Galaxy Gear
I work for Sprint, and I was awarded the Galaxy Gear as part of the Galaxy Note 3 Advocate package. As for what the watch is capable of, it does more than what the previous posters have stated. To answer some of what was said.....it does display your text messages, and it allows you to respond via S-Voice to them. It has a media controller that allows you to skip tracks, control volume levels, and play/pause media including videos. It has a pedometer, accesses your contacts, call logs, and more. I love mine, but I'm honestly waiting for someone to figure out how to successfully pair it with the HTC One or the One Max so I can come back to my HTC. The Note 3 is awesome, but I would rather be using my HTC One with the gear.....thats my take on it.
I bought my pebble from best buy, love it. I've played with the Galaxy Gear, Samsung tried sticking way too many features into the watch and forgot that it was a watch. Get the Pebble.

I didn't pay for mine....got it for free. I had a customer who brought in his iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S to recycle after purchasing the Note 3 using the Sprint 1-Up program for $47.25.....got the gear for free with enough change from the recycle to purchase a body glove case with no out of pocket cost!! Awesome deal!
