[Q] Why do some apps put a new folder in SD card while others dont?

Hi,
I noticed that some apps, for example droid comic viewer, camera 360, etc. would make a new folder in my SD card. Everytime I deleted those folders, the apps get deleted too.
All other 75+ apps I had, did not make new folders in my sd card.
There are also apps such as "vintage comic droid" that makes a new folder with a "." before it. This . means it is system files right ? Why do this one apps make system folder instead of regular folder like any other apps?
Does this means some apps are being installed directly to sd card, instead of EXT3 partition that I purposely setup for A2SD ?
through trial and errors, I now knows what has caused this. It was because application install settings in spare parts. When set to external, apps would go to SD card, instead of ext3 partition.
btw, can I delete these folders inside SD ?

Installing app data to sd card?

Hi all,
I was wondering if there is a way to install apps with app data to the external harddrive. I have GTA 3 installed internally and I do not have enough space to install need for speed. I still have not found a way to do it! any help would be great
Thanks,
Tayshun
I heard if you have root there are programs that allow you to map the game directory to your External SD card. Example for GTA you would simply copy all the contents in the com.rockstar.gta3 directory to an identical folder on your External microSD card.

B117 and sd storage

Has anyone noticed that even if you change the default storage location to the SD card, some applications are still installed in the phone memory?

Click to collapse
That is application limitation not the phone or firmware
the apps themselves are mostly installed on the phone memory to avoid problems when you remove the SDcard. but all user data is stored on the external memory. as an example i couldn't install tomtom on previous version becasue the map size (over 4gb) was to large for the internal memory. now the app is on the phone memory but the maps get auto downloaded on the SDcard

[Q] Moving Apps (App Data) to External SD Card

When you check out an app's info, there is an option to "Move to SD card". When I do this, I see that the available internal storage space really does free up. I tried finding the app data in the external sd, but no new directories are made and the size of the "Android" folder in the external sd remains at 32 bytes. So, where is the app data in the external sd?
I don't mean to resurrect an old thread, but I felt compelled to answer this, since this issue bugged me for hours. I'll just leave it here in case anyone else stumbles on to this.
If you are able to move apps to the SD card in G3, android v.4.4 Kitkat, whether by default, or by applying the SD Fix ("media_rw"...), then doing so will only move certain files to your SD (the .apk, I think), but not inside the /external_SD/Android/data folder. The files will instead be moved to the /.android_secure folder, which is hidden and cannot be viewed using a file browser in Android, even with root (tried ES Explorer). You can view this folder if you insert the SD directly to your PC via a card slot. The files moved will have the .asec extension.
In order to move the actual files from the data or obb folder, and save space, one would have to use an app such as FolderMount, although I haven't tried this myself.

Registry - change Microsoft Edge downloads location

Hi,
I have changed download location in Storage settings from SD card to local memory and then removed SD card.
Since then Microsoft Edge do not download any file.
I think it is still trying to save file to SD card.
Is there a registry value from where Microsoft Edge reads location where to save downloaded files?
I found a registry value on desktop (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\AppContainer\Storage\microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftEdge\Main) but it does not exist on mobile (checked HKLM/HKCU).
Setting, storage, new downloads will save to phone.
I have set Downloads location to phone storage. Without SD Card, downloads in Microsoft Edge do not start downloading, it is still trying to access SD card. When I insert SD card then the file downloads. If I change with SD card inserted downloads location to phone memory, files still downloads to SD card.
Probably bug, my OS version 10.0.14393.103
