Can't you see the description given in the kernel adiutor ?
Disabling crc can improve performance, Disabling GFS can improve UI responsiveness, Arch Power patch causes arch dependent power functions to be used instead of generic high resolution timer ticks and double ticks.

Good kernel, keep it up
Severe battery drain, phone doesn't last for even 4 hours. Using v1.1 with AOSP EXTENDED and Viper mod.
Android system seems to be the highest battery user.

He mean to say if you use script with this kernel will result into conflict and as a result poor battery life lag etc...
First try to use only kernel once settle down use script one by one and see.

(Note: I don't wanna be rude, I just want to keep this thread clean...)
Q: What settings do you recommend? What governor? What IO Scheduler?
A: I recommend the default settings. This is why it there by default!

Q: My phone as rebooted on its own or is stuck on a reboot loop.
A: There are 3 reason why your phone may reboot on its own:
1. Your phone does not handle the Undervolt of the kernel
Flash the stock voltage add-on. (NO I will not make the kernel with stock voltage by default)
2. Your phone cannot handle the Overclock of the kernel
Use another kernel, Sorry...
3. There is a bug in the kernel and I should fix it:
Post the /proc/last_kmsg output as a ZIP in the thread. BUT, before posting make sure the last_kmsg contains the mention "Kernel panic", if not, don't bother posting this because your problem is related to point 1 or 2...A kernel Panic looks like this:

Q: Why did you remove feature X?
A: Because I think it sucks
* This is my personal opinion and I am allowed to have it

Click to collapse
Q: Can you add feature X?
A: Depends. Before asking that question, check the changelog.
If it was removed, NO.
* If you have a really good reason why you think a feature should come back from the dead, you can defend your case by PM.
If it's a new feature that I may not know about, just let me know of the feature and I'll consider it.
If its a new shinny CPU governor or IO scheduler, NO the ones that will remain do the job perfectly...

I cant resist it either. Flashed it gonna let it settle in and check the performance once I fully charge it again.
Any thoughts on the comparison of CFQ and BFQ?

100% battery mod is a cosmetic fix. BLX will never go over 96%. If you do go over 96%, you'll damage your battery...

I'm using a cold color mod instead of voodoo colors. Voodoo color was never actually an 100% completed project. Because of the green flicker issue, voodoo color was not included in the kernel. Pawitp from team hacksung seems to be working on an alternative to voodoo color for the GalaxyS. I might try that in future release...
I'm aiming for a really stable kernel. Only features that I know work and that work well will go in.
Breaks USB tether
This kernel breaks USB tether. I am using CM 9 alpha 19 with Glados 2.7. Switched back to Glados and USB tether works again.
Downloaded and flashed. Seems to be running good. Showing benchmark scores only slightly behind other kernels running 1300/1400mhz.
Thanks for posting this up. I like it!

FAQ
How can i set the kernel features?
The recomend app is FauxClock. Other apps can have problems with cpu freq setting or other features.
Fauxclock isn't supported.
Install Fauxclock > Open and accept SuperSu > force close it > open again (if this isn't working, you need to fix permissions.)
Why i do this? ETA's?
It's only build for my own use, so i update it if i think i must do it. Please do not ask for ETA's.

Bro what's your kernel configuration settings?
Final notice: Since my Z5 died (it's broken into pieces, glass shattered) - development is effectively halted - NO more updates - sorry
This is a Stock (Sony) ROM Kernel and WILL NOT work on AOSP, CM, etc.
aka SunKernel for Z4/Z3+ & Z4/Z3+ Dual - Stock ROM (for now only stock)
This is an extension of the Xperia Z5/Z5 Dual "sumire" main thread over at: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...und-z5-wip-t3340725/post65936553#post65936553
Finally !
So the kernel is now also available for the (somewhat forgotten) Z4/Z3+ series
Please understand that I can't test whether it works due to lack of that very device - Enjoy !
Keep in mind that building for the Z5 "Stock" ROMs and "Stock" Kernels, you're constantly facing the following tradeoff:
compatibility with pre-built "core" kernel modules (e.g. texfat [proprietary exfat microSD fs driver])
compatibility with pre-built "goodies" kernel modules (e.g. video and other acceleration, hwcodecs, ...)
losing features that can NOT be replaced by similar ones (e.g. ecryptfs, wlan, exfat, etc.)
when going too far the device doesn't boot or simply hangs on bootanimation
this resulted in a couple branches (at least several dozen) that are partially or totally broken :silly:

AT the end of the thread

NEW features
sys-fs interface to control vibrator intensity (some kernel tools might support it)
lowered init value of screen during bootup: now you shouldn't get 100% BLINDED when rebooting :cyclops:
core 0 and 4 are now always on (per default, unless you play around with core_ctl) - allows changing governor settings for the big cores
mmc crc checksum is disabled by default (?) - 30% or more higher performance, re-enable if you favor integrity
KEXEC support - give @Myself5 's MultiROM a test-drive if you're curious (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/orig-development/mod-multirom-v33x-t3374763)
added Alucard cpufreq governor, if it's too laggy, unstable, etc. - I'm throwing it out the airlock
added a few additional changes thanks to @AndroPlus
.
224 version bump (224 ROMs ONLY)
RAM (working memory) energy efficiency improvements, thanks to @AndroPlus to spot it
overclocking support "big" core ~ 2.1 GHz, "little" core ~ 1.7 GHz (the "little" core is less tolerant for OC, less stable)
changed optimization flags (evaluation), should now be more stable but also faster, efficient

twrp can not mount mtp
works great
Flashed your Kernel Today, no problems with Systemless Root, flashed Systemless Xposed - no problems here. Everything works fine... Now lets have a look at what we can do
If you don't mind a small request to @zacharias.maladroit, I want to use your kernel and features are good, but can you make a kernel build with default clock of CPU and GPU reduced to 50% before boot (it should be same in recovery also) and i want to manually change its default clock through kernel auditor if i want later. Reason is my phone gets heated during boot due to its running at max frequencies.
Thanks for your work and I hope you wont mind giving me this option.
EDIT: Faux sound is not working and it does nothing when i change it from kernel auditor.

What you mean ? Which kernel you are referring to ? Does that kernel have all the features of Zach's ? If so give me link as I can't find it. I liked Zach's kernel but during boot my phone gets hot due to default max freq and also faux sound is not working (which does nothing when i change sliders from kernel auditor app).
Flashed this kernel working well, systemless root, xposed and ex kernel manager. Letting it sit in till I start messing with settings.

Kernel Adiutor Sound controls are broken,
please use Faux Sound Control instead, that works;
I'll see what I can find on that CPU + GPU reduction during bootup,
but this will take some time, focusing on several projects (Android + non-Android) at the same time, so need to triage

I've tried that also but seems to me only Headphones are working and speakers does nothing. Can you please try again and let me know ?
For the GPU/CPU, It would be better if you down clock them by 50% default and clock it higher after OS is loaded using init.d or something else.
Thanks
same problem here
please do a fix with the broken sound using audio output.. Only headset working flawlessly. thank

Hello everyone i would like to share with you my draft project. Its a CM based kernel for nougat roms.
Why release?
Because i wanted to share my work with community. The more toys we got,the more fun we have
Based on ?
Kernel is based on CM 14.1 kernel with some additions.
Kernel editor?
I do NOT include any editor to zip file yet.its just an image file inside a flashable zip.
Bugs?
Yea...surely got.u better tell me
Works on ?
It is supposed to work on every S4 variant that was able to run CM13/14.1 nightly rom. Also it should work on any CM based ROM
This kernel or alucard on JDCTeam roms?
Surely alucard. This kernel is made for fun and for test.Noone could be compared to grandmaster alucard

Nice kernel, but you could reduce the frequency of gpu for the fourth step? 600MHz is too much because there is a lot of glitches and artifacts (on my s4) , and I was forced to use 360mhz. I think that was the optimal frequency to 500MHz. But I see a big potential in this kernel. Thanks for your work. Regards
Thanks for the initiative, the only kernel I found for s4 was on android 5.1.1. I'm very confident that you will do a great job. Testing here to give feedback
Yes i have problem with the 600mhz with the GPU... If i reduce ti 360 NP at all
Anyway love this kernel

Hey @side, great work on the kernel, so far everything is running smoothly, I just had to change GPU clock to 360, 600 gave me RRs and artifacts. You have a typo in the thread, the kernel is 3.4.112 not 3.4.110.

whoops...thanks for that mate
If anybody is interested, I build my first own kernel for Nubia Z17 Lite (NX591J). It is based on stock Nubia kernel published HERE and compiled using Linaro toolchain (from verison 0.1.62 up).
It is compatible with Global (Geekbuying) stock ROM and Chinese stock ROM and NubiaPixel. It is not compatible with LineageOS.
I added multiple features into the kernel, but settings (like governor tunables) are mostly stock, so it is up to you to customize them to your needs using tools like Kernel Adiutor.
FEATURES:
based on stock NX591J kernel
built using Linaro 6.4 toolchain (stock was GNU 4.9) - improved speed and smoothness
added governors (blu-active, interactivex, conservative)
added schedulers (zen, fiops, sioplus)
disabled MSM_PERFORMANCE (stock hotplugging driver)
added 3rd party CPU hotplug drivers (msm_hotplug, Intelliplug) - msm_hotplug enabled by default, but it can be disabled to get more smoothness at cost of some battery life
enabled cpuboost with support for input, wakeup and hotplug boost
USB fast charge support (0.9A on USB data link instead of just 0.5A, disabled by default)
added westwood network TCP congestion angorithm
reading CPU voltages
state notifier support
some minor tweaks
INSTALLATION:
Copy the kernel IMG file to internal memory
Reboot to TWRP recovery
(Optional) Backup your Boot partition
Select Install - Install Image - select the IMG file and check Boot
If you had magisk installed, you need to re-install it again
Reboot
Factory reset should not be needed.
DOWNLOAD:
Version 0.1.62 at Mega
Version 0.1.36 at Mega
TWEAKING:
You can use Kernel Adiutor or any other tool to tweak the settings. Personally, I am using the following values:
CPU governor for all CPUs: blu_acttive
CPU hotplug: disabled
IO scheduler: zen, read-ahead 256kB, rotational/IO Stats/Add Random: disabled
governor settings for little cores:
go_highspeed_load 92
hispeed_freq 1017600
target_loads 92
above_hispeed_delay 30000
fastlane 0
governor settings for big cores:
go_highspeed_load 95
hispeed_freq 1190400
target_loads 95
above_hispeed_delay 40000
fastlane 0
CPU boost:
interval: 40ms
input interval: 300ms
sync treshold: disabled
input boost core 1-4: 806 MHz
input boost core 5-8: 883 MHz
Wakep boost: enabled
Hotplug boost: disabled
big cores 7 and 8 disabled (if I don't need top performance)
Thermal:
Core Control: Enabled
VDD Restriction, Temperature Throttle: Disabled
Virtual memory:
dirty_ratio: 40
dirty_background_ratio: 15
swappiness: 0
vfs_cache_pressure: 10
Z-RAM: 0 + Magisk module Swap Torpedo to get rid of ZRAM (we don't need to compress RAM and use swap when we have 6 GB of it)
With those, I am getting smooth performance and no heating, up to 2 days of battery life. Antutu still scores at 105k (geekbuying stock had only 85k).

Note: I am not responsible about any damage of any kind that this kernel may cause.
If you are looking for the latest stock ROM for this phone, Global version can be found HERE (1.05) and Chinese ROM HERE (2.06) (version numbering is different than global ROM; tip - if the download speed is too slow from China, try a VPN extension...I used Hoxx VPN into Singapore and the download speed went from 30 KB/s to 5 MB/s)

Yes, I see...this is not kernel for NX563J
Actually our Z17 Lite has eMMC 5.1 storage, not UFS like regular Z17, so F2FS could make sense.

No, the file init.qcom.post_boot.sh is in system partition (not in the kernel) and it overrides the CPU settings, so it can't be included in kernel. But you can change the CPU settings also thru Kernel Adiutor.
For example switching to blu-active governor and ensuring that CPU min/max frequencies are set properly should be enough for the beginning.

Battery life depends mainly on your governor and hotplug settings ? With my values, I still have around 50% of the battery left in the evening after light to medium use. I am using Blu-active governor and I am still experimenting with msm-hotplug settings - too much power saving brings lags, so I am looking for balance between smoothness and battery efficiency.
In general, I think that this kernel has a bit shorter battery life than stock with the same governor settings, but it feels considerably smoother.
If you want to have your changes made in Kernel Adiutor permanent, don't forget to enable applying them on boot. For me applying on boot sometimes didn't happen, but it would help if you convert Kernel Adiutor to system app. I am using App Systemizer module from Magisk for that.

I just don't want my phone overheating, can't find some proper settings, the ones from the global rom were good enough. Thanks

When does the overheating happen? I am personally using blu_active governor with the following values:
governor settings for little cores:
go_highspeed_load 92
hispeed_freq 1017600
target_loads 92
above_hispeed_delay 30000
fastlane 0
governor settings for big cores:
go_highspeed_load 95
hispeed_freq 1190400
target_loads 95
above_hispeed_delay 40000
fastlane 0
CPU boost:
interval: 40ms
input interval: 300ms
sync treshold: disabled
input boost core 1-4: 806 MHz
input boost core 5-8: 883 MHz
Wakep boost: enabled
Hotplug boost: disabled
CPU hotplug disabled
big cores 7 and 8 disabled (if I don't need top performance)
With those, I am getting smooth performance and no heating, up to 2 days of battery life. Antutu still scores at 105k (geekbuying stock had only 85k).
If your phone overheats during gaming, you can just try lowering max frequency for big cores, although the phone throttles the CPU on high temperature automatically...
To get back to stock values, you would need to restore them from backup...
EDIT: I added my settings into the first post.
Hi, I am interested in increase in frequency of GPU. It would be desirable to learn whether there is any opportunity for increase in frequency of GPU approximately to ~ 800MHz (for Geekbuying 1.05)?
