Hi guys. Before you bash me saying I did not search, trust me I did.
Goal:
I am trying to install cyanogenmod 10 M2 following this guide: oh well, I guess I can't post URL's. But the guide is a wiki from cyanogenmod and is called "Galaxy Nexus (GSM): Full Update Guide"
wiki.cyanogenmodDOTCOM/wiki/Galaxy_Nexus_%28GSM%29:_Full_Update_Guide
When I get to the second command which is to enter the CW menu: fastboot boot boot.img
Problem: My phone gets stuck at the Google logo and my PC says that the driver failed to install.
Here's what I have tried doing and what I installed:
Android SDK + Google USB driver are installed
Universal Naked Driver is installed
I tried re downloading all the files and restarting
I tried changing computers
I even tried FORMATTING my computer and installing a fresh copy of Windows 7 64 bit.
My phone is showing bootloader in the device manager like it should. Everything is FINE and working except for that part. All my drivers are correctly installed on my PC. I have been trying to solve this for exactly 5 hours.
So my question is: how do I solve this ?
Thanks in advance
cheers
You don't have to manually flash the boot.img, just flash the ROM through CWM
Redownload the ROM, check md5 hash, flash away.
Restore the nandroid of your previous working state btw.
cyanogenmod's thread, FIRST POST
Instructions:
First time flashing CyanogenMod 10 your device, or coming from another ROM?
Root the device and install ClockworkMod Recovery. Instructions are available here.
Perform a NANDroid backup of your current ROM.
Format the system, data & cache partitions of your device.
Perform a factory reset.
Flash CyanogenMod.
Optional: Install the Google Apps addon package.

OK but I'm trying to get in the CWM menu. That's not working. How do I enter that menu on my phone ?
Also I don't want to root my phone.
Installing CM10 WILL root the phone as it's a custom ROM

Good day,
I tried to find this topic in the differents threats but I can not find it. The thing is that I have a htc m8 OP6B160 with original marshmallow version.
The cellphone is not rooted and with not custom recovery. I would like to try new roms with sense 8 but I do not know how to do it. It is possible to obtain a detailed guide in order to install a custom rom?
Thank you in advance for your help and sorry for my English.
Kind regards,

Although old, the following guide is mostly still relevant:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/vomerguides-m8-bootldr-unlock-s-off-t2800727
But the TWRP link is outdated, and you will want the latest version TWRP 3.0: https://dl.twrp.me/m8/
You only need to do Section 1 of the guide, up to the point where custom recovery TWRP is installed. You don't need to root to install custom ROMs (you will have root by default after the custom ROM is installed, for most ROMs). Once TWRP is installed:
- Put the desired custom ROM on SD card, or download to phone's internal storage.
- Boot into TWRP
- Highly recommended to go to "Backup" section of TWRP, and back up the stock ROM
- Go to "Wipe" in TWRP, and do the default wipe (Dalvik, cache, user data)
- Go to "Install", find the desired ROM, and select it
- Sit back and let the ROM install, reboot and drink beer - You've just installed a custom ROM
Also note, you should backup any personal data you want to keep, before starting any of this.

Hello Guys,
I need help regarding the issue that I'm facing. What happens is ROM get installed properly without any error but not boots up. It get stuck at boot animation screen. I tried lots of ROMs including DOT OS, C droid, AICP, TOXYC OS. Facing the same issue to all of the ROMs. I followed the below steps to install.
1. Download the ROM file
2. Download the GApps.
3. Booted into TWRP Recovery Mode.
4. Backup done (optional)
5. Wipe all the 4 partitions except Internal Storage.
6. Then install the ROM file and followed by GApps
7. Installation successful for both ROM & GApps.
8. Reboot.
I tried installing the ROM only but result was same.
I'm currently running on Oxygen OS Open Beta 10.
PLEASE HELP. THANKS IN ADVANCE.
Which TWRP do you use? Personally, I recommend this one by codeworkx: https://sourceforge.net/projects/ch....1-0-20180309-codeworkx-dumpling.img/download
Some roms require you to be decrypted; others don't. Most roms require the latest firmware (5.1.3) to be flashed before the rom, gapps, etc. Read the installation instructions carefully. Use the recommended firmware and gapps package linked to the rom. Before you start flashing roms, you should wipe your phone in fastboot mode: fastboot format userdata. This will wipe your phone clean; all your data will be gone. So, backup all your data to your PC before proceeding. After format, reboot directly to TWRP and move your firmware, rom, gapps, etc. to internal storage; follow the flash order and procedures exactly as outlined for the rom you want to try.
I tried installing latest TWRP (3.2.1-2) for my OnePlus 5T but no luck. Please suggest.

The link to a working TWRP is in the post above; it's not the latest or official TWRP, but it works. Also, please read through this thread if you haven't already: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/oneplus-5t-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-t3704592.
Did you try to format data (after wiping the partitions) ?

In twrp, when you go in the wipe tab, there is a "format data" button. It will wipe the data and internal storage partitions and remove encryption. But don't worry, depending of the ROM you flash it will encrypt again.

Idk if a custom rom exists with that feature but there is a xposed module which does that and works on any custom rom (aosp 8.1 based at least) : https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/xposed-android-p-ify-features-t3764556

Did you check the module settings ? You can tweak some stuff.
Or maybe it didn't works because of Lineage (but it should, idk why not), but you can try aosp extended, which is closer to aosp.

I tried AOSP Extended before a week ago. Everything was working fine except headphone Jack. Sound was not coming in my earphones. Sound from speaker grill was coming, even I tried with connecting to Bluetooth speaker, that's also working fine. The only issue I had with that headphone Jack.
Please suggest if you have any solution for that then I'll surely try it again.
Thanks

SCREENSHOTS
What doesn't work:
I haven't found anything so far that seems to be broken. Doesn't mean it's bug-free though.
How to install:
1. Factory Reset
2. Format Data
3. Flash rom <-- Download
4. Flash GAPPS
5. Flash Magisk [optional]
6. Reboot to system
Enjoy.
I tried to install the ROM to my SM-T560NU, it boots with no issues. It's very laggy to use, so I mess around with crDroid settings and I changed the scrolling cache setting (Settings->crDroid Settings->User Interface->Animations->Scrolling Cache) from Default enable to Default disable, it fixed the laggy issue.
I also tried to flash Vince2678's overclock kernel and it boots with no issues.
This is the Bomb. I have a Tab E TM-560NU. I failed miserably trying to install other roms. But yours went in 1st shot. Nice work!
Question is I'm thinking about putting Magisk, But do I really need it? Is that like SU? Probably a very dumb question.

I've experience of flashing my tablet so I can flash my tablet without issues. Since it's too laggy to use, so I switched to LightningFastROM 17.1, for now.

It's your choice whenever you want to use Magisk or not. If you want Busybox, ViPER4Android FX,etc... or other apps that requires root then you'll need to flash Magisk in order to use it.

Let me tell you that twrp otg backups don't work at all. I have 2 USB c hard drives and twrp can't make a backup with them. I don't know why but it can't. I'm really unsure of this phone because there's really nothing you can do to backup anything. You flash a new rom and you have to format everything and start all over again. No music no apps no nothing. I don't even understand what fun that is? Every rom seems to have different instructions and it's a mess.

Ive been doing the custom roms thing for about 4 or 5 years. It's always unlock bootloader, flash twrp, make twrp backup of data, system and boot. Flash magisk or custom rom.
Well now it's different there's no way to back it up. If I make a twrp backup to the internal storage and try to copy and paste it to my USB c ssd it fails it won't allow it. I don't understand if you try to make the backup in twrp it'll say backup failed. I have no idea why I can't make a backup that means I would have to flash stock to fix a bootloop lol it's ruining the twrp experience
There are so many guides on the internet. We don't need to repeat this. Use YouTube and Google.
Search "Poco F3 Flash Custom ROM" and "Poco F3 unlock bootloader"
@dreamytom Just reading a few threads here on xda would be enough to find almost all the answers you need ...

From a certain point of view you are right, but we should also give the developers some time to fix things. It is true, with previous versions of android it was easier to flash and without having to set everything up again, however, it is a phone with a more complicated system therefore the developments of the twrp are more complicated. Without forgetting that the entire development is supported only by donations and the rest is completely free ...
There are some tools too...if you are using same base os... you can use tool to backup and restore.
1. Migrate
backup you app (with data)
restore from twrp
(search it from xda)
2. Swift Backup.
3. Miui has backup and restore too.
but for your data (photos, videos etc) manually backup to your pc.
that's all..
yes, backup restore from twrp not work yet.

I already know about those app backups and it's really not the problem. You need to than make sure you have them stored on a USB C drive because if you format data than bye bye to those apps. Twrp we're the best and I didn't like the idea of no micro SD card but I figured oh well USB C drive will work.
With every android verison update we lose a little bit of root. It's not like when actually change anything to the system it will bootloop. We can't make system backups and now magisk hide is removed that one I don't care I never used it. There's a point when having root doesn't matter really and we're almost there. Coding is getting so complicated that after OEM updates stop I wouldn't be surprised if people can't build updated Android roms
