what is better galaxy note 5 or galaxy note 4 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note5

Hey guys if any one tried the both note 4 and note 5 .can he tell me which is one better to buy as the note 4 has external SD card , bigger battery (and it's also replaceable ),same screen a little difference in camera and low light quality ...etc
Plz tell me as soos as possible.

I only have the note 5 because the insurance gave it to me when the note 4 wasn't in stock after I dropped my note 4 and broke the screen. At the time, I would have chosen to get another note 4 because I used an external sd card. But they gave me a 64 gig note 5 since I pressed for more storage capacity.
I love both phones. But, in retrospect, I'm glad they gave me a note 5. It is a better phone in my opinion.
I get better battery life on the Note 5, but with the note 4 it's possible to buy higher capacity batteries from 3rd party vendor.
Good luck with your decision.

The Note 4 was a laggy mess with a crappy DAC (audio is my biggest gripe). I had it for about a year before I was stolen. I was got a replacement under warranty and AT&T sent me a Note 5 as a replacement. It's a FAR better phone in every facet. The only features that keeps the Note 4 in the race are the micro SD, the infrared sensor, and removable battery. But, on a single charge the 5 lasts longer. It's much faster and smoother. The camera is better in all conditions, and the fingerprint sensor acts like an actual finger print sensor. If only the 7 didn't have its issues.

Will the battery of Galaxy Note II fit for Galaxy Note I?

Hello everyone, by now i hope everyone knows the launch of Samsung Galaxy Note 2. And while i was going through its features, both hardware and software, it struck me, can we use the battery of galaxy note 2 for galaxy note 1. I was unable to get any ibformation regarding this so i planned to post a thread here, so that if at all anyone knows something about it, will let us all know about it too.
I am a happy galaxy note user. Pretty hapy with usage, camera, browsing, apps etc etc...but the one thing that annoys me is battery life. Continuous usage with wifi switched on, gives me just 3 to 4 hrs of usage and while i use data plan it hardly makes to 3 hrs.
So i wondered, if we can use the galaxy note2's battery for note 1, then we would have a giant 3100 mAmp battery for us.
I saw that galaxy note 2, is almost the same size of galaxy note 1, with a slight increase of height and decrease of width, but did not see the battery in any of the videos yet.

I highly doubt you could buy a Samsung Galaxy Note II battery and fit into your original Galaxy Note, but there are plenty of larger batteries out there from companies such as Anker.
You can always use a hammer....
Thanks for replying..
I was just willing to know if at all there is any chance for the battery of Galaxy Note 2 to fit in Note 1, because the thickness of Galaxy Note2 is even less when compared to Note1. But if at all it fits, I will be the most happiest person

Now to make this post relevant to the OP. No I don't think SGN2's battery would fit in original note.

I too was thinking of note 2, as 3100mah is huge,i can't say the same for its placement, bcoz though it's slim, the ergonomics have been changed, since note 2 u can remove sd card without pulling the batteries,

This board got spammed with a bunch of note 2 threads, and so for the time being they are not allowing new Note 2 threads.
You must just post onto the current note 2 sticky.
I am guessing that the reason the battery has 25% more capacity is because it is 25% longer, to match the increased length of the Note.
So I highly doubt Note 2 batteries will fit in the note 1. It's quite possible, however, that you can put Note 1 batteries in the Note 2 (with spacers) similar to how S2 batteries could be used in the Note 1. The battery contacts were in the same location.

Why would you even want to do that? The original 3100mAh battery will be as expensive(if not more) than a 3500mAh battery from a different brand.

People saying generally that it couldnt be possible for a battery of a different sammy phone to work on the note be advised:
the battery of the galaxy S worked for me on the note 1. with the help of cut q tips to help push the battery up cause its shorter, was a life saver!
Given the fact that no infos about the shape of the note 2 battery are available right now every answer here has to be considered a mere guess. But it's also completely irrelevant whether the note 2 battery works with the note or not since there are plenty of batteries with different capacities available. And most of them are certainly cheaper than an original note 2 battery which isn't even available yet.

I saw a photo of the Note 1 & 2 side by side with the backs off somewhere in cyberspace (no way to find it again). It was very apparent the 3100mAh battery is significantly longer than the 2500 one, no way it will fit in the space allowed by the original Note's case..
Is it?

If what you said is true, that battery of note2 bigger than note1, then, thats the end of my hope to have a genuine samsung LARGER battery for my note1 :silly:
But can anyone please let me know where can I find a battery of large capacity in Hyderabad/India that can fit in Note1 without changing the default back cover that come with the phone?
Now if we could also replace it with the Note"s II screen as well, and may be also the RAM too.
What about the CPU may be that can be changed as well.
Now come to think again do you think the Camera.....
Are you able to fit in your galaxy S2 battery into galaxy S3 ?
Should be the same answer my friend.
I guess we all have to wait to see whether we can make any adjustments to help fit the batery of Note2 in Note1, just like it was done for Galaxy S2's battery fitting in Galaxy Note. Or just to see how we cant do it

Note 2 or Nexus 7 for travelling (NY to Hawaii my experience)

I usually travel with my tablets as I prefer to load them up with my own choice of content (movies\TV shows\podcasts\music\comics) for the long flights and layovers I may have to deal with.
I first started with my Motorolla XOOM and that was a great experience for my first to Hawaii in 2011 battery life was great and the screen size was OK for being in cramped airplane seats (I cant afford 1st class yet )
Last year I flew to Florida and the Nexus 7 was a much better size for the trip and battery life just got better but the trip to Florida from NY was not a good test.
I flew to Hawaii again this year from NY so decided to give my Note 2 a test a the only thing I would use for the entertainment on the trip.
I traveled with a Note2 16GB on board RAM and a 64GB Micro SD card I was able to load it up with movies (MP4 1080p copies) and music (5000 Mp3s) and podcasts (mp4 formats) I also had two spare batteries fully (total of three all fully charged). both trip averaged OVER 12 hours with stops This trip the times for me were : 15 hours (with two layovers) towards Hawaii and 13.5 (with one layover) towards NY. I was able to constantly be watching video and occasionally jump online via in flight WiFi and chat or text via google voice. I did maintain it mostly in Airplane mode so this helped a lot with keeping the battery drain down. I did also bring a Nexus 7 in case i needed it .... but there was no need.
My Note 2 also was awesome for taking pictures/videos of the trip so no need for s separate camera and with the 64GB card I was able to just remove all the media (i bought my laptop and external HD to put them back for trip back) and have enough room for all the high quality video I wanted to take specially since I had spare batteries. all I had to do was carry the two spare ones for a full day of worry free Note 2 usage,
Next trip I will no longer need to take the nexus 7 as this was the best airplane experience I have had so far.
Just thought I would share in case others out there are looking to travel and were wondering what tech to take.
I carry four batteries and with battery life that's already as good as the note 2s, I never ever have to worry about heavy use. Thinkin bout buying three more lol. EBay ftw.

Removable battery=priceless.
So far I only replace battery once a day while I replaced battery twice on S3
Years ago I bought a little usb battery pack that takes four 2500mah NiMH AA batteries. It has a standard female usb port.
I've used it with a variety of devices. It's not as convenient as a spare battery, but it was far cheaper.
It has saved my bacon on several occasions! It's always nice to use my device over a long coast to coast flight and land with a full battery while my coworkers scramble to plug in any place they can find and then "buddy breathe" using the single usb port in the rental car during the next two hours.

Speaking of travel. I travel long distances too but use my Note 10.1 more for consumption. I got this during Samsung's 50% off accessories "deal" for $50. It's fantastic. Small, light, comes with special short cables for the propriatery tablet port and micro USB and is 9,000mAh which is enough to fully charge the Note 10.1 with almost enough left over for a charge on the N2. It recharges in about 3-4 hours which is fast for a battery extender. It also has an on/off switch so it doesn't trickle drain when not being used like a lot of the cheaper solutions do. It daisy chains too. If you plug a device in to its USB port while the it's charging it charges the device first and then itself. I highly recommend it for long distance travel.
Here's a pic showing how small it is next to a N2 battery...

Yeah, I have some serious global traveling coming up and am looking forward to eocking the Note 2. Last year I used my galaxy nexus and was always swapping batteries, using external battery packs, or was just starnded juiceless. This time, I'll be sporting 2 or 3 spare charged batteries. Should get me through 2 or 3 very hard use days without even thinking about a charger. Plus, it's all so light, and no extra cables. Thanks OP for your experiences.

Z5P, Nexus 6P or Samsung S6 edge plus

Hi,
I bought a Nexus 6P however I am not happy with the battery life and when you need to charge it its almost impossible to find USB C,
Other that I am very happy with marshmallows privacy features such as app permissions that's the reason I came back to android,
Since I am within my cancellation period my provider has offered me Z5P or S6 edge plus at no extra cost.
Which one should I go for?
Major selling points are which one gets upgrade to marshmallow first or has better after sale value
Battery life is also very important but with micros USB chargers available everywhere makes life easier.
Thanks

Since you kind of decided against the 6P, I would definitely go for the Z5.
Sent from my Xperia Z3
I have the 6P and Z5P...honestly, the Z5P is the better of the two...I'm sticking with the Z5 Premium
can't speak for S6E+ as i haven't owned one but i can say that i'm very happy with my Z5P right now. both will definitely get the marshmallow upgrade although not sure who'll get it first but Z5P has the bigger battery of the two. then again, Z5P has a 4K screen so if you're always using the native sony app for both photo and video, it'll drain the batt much faster than what you expect.
Thanks how long does the battery last?

Not had the 6P but had the z5p and battery life was awful and I swapped it for the S6 Edge plus and battery life is awesome, infact the whole phone is better than the Z5P screen, performance, headphone and speaker sound & volume, camera, look &feel, charging only missing a card slot really.
RCJ89 I save already ordered Z5P I might sell it and settle for something cheap.

Fair enough, I know a few people who were waiting a while for the premium paid £600 for it at carphone warehouse and have been left disappointed and are now looking to move on already.
Biggest complaint are battery life & cant see the 4K screen diff between that and a 2K screen.
I returned 6p because of size and no sd card slot.
Ordered z5p got it for 5 hours in first full charge I feel battery life same as 6p .i don't know maybe need couple circle full charge to compare again
Yes I tried mine today and it wasn't bad on a 5 volt it charged under 2 hours..

You should try the s6 edge plus. I get 4:30 to 5 hours of sot. Sound is really loud and clear when using headphones. And the screen is the best in the business. The only con is the update schedule.
I have sold mine so happy days it wasn't as attractive as nexus 6p but than I am not a Sony fan.. I got this cheapo wileyfox swift with CM12 it does a good job for what I want a phone to do.

Samsung Firmware always have lots of special features and of course for EDGE display so if u need those features go for Edge+
If Fast Firmware/Security update matter for u then go for Nexus
But Gr8 camera and nice/smooth UI, Gr8 sound and generally GR8 User Experience go for Xperia
:good:
I have S6 edge+ and Z5P (have not seen nexus 6p yet). Battery is about the same, with a few tweaks, I can go a full day with 20% left. Screen is amazing on both. I had no use for the "edge" special stuff, and it made some functions awkward when touching the very edge of the screen. Both cameras are great, if you aren't a photography nerd you will be very happy with either. I am selling the S6 edge+ and keeping the Sony. I love the water resistance, the SD card slot (128GB for $40), and the feel seems more "solid". TouchWiz is pretty mature, but I prefer Xperia's implementation. Either is a great phone. The Z5P has marshmallow release in testing for developers, Samsung says marshmallow is coming any day for S6 edge+. So, not very helpful? Relax. It's just a phone.

Note 7 with Note 8 battery

As the title suggest, its possible to put Note 8 battery in our beloved Note 7 the capacity is a bit smaller (200 mah less, but still 100 mah more than what gimped Note FE version sports) . Its inspired by similar thread by Mr.Ultimate, he did some testing and modification with s7 battery.
I did some research for compatible batteries:
donce1991 said:
got my hands on some batteries, so I can post some dimensions (width, cos its the most important one and capacity), so far those are the ones who are not compatible (I got original ones, fake and copies can and most of the time will be a a different size):
s6 46mm 2550 mah
s6 edge 44mm 2600 mah
s6 edge+ 44mm 3000 mah
s7 edge 42mm 3600 mah
s7 Active 40mm 4000 mah
s8 40mm 3000 mah
s8+ 46mm 3500 mah
note edge 40,6mm 3000 mah
note4 41.4mm 3200 mah
note5 42mm 3000 mah
so far only these are compatible:
s7 39mm 3000 mah
note8 39mm 3300 mah
but still there are about 1 mm of width needed (original battery is almost less than 38mm) so you have to either take the tape off the battery and fold its sides or better remove that frame part between battery and motherboard, so because of the size, I did the mechanical modification and put Note 8 battery in my Note 7.

Manufacturers codes for Samsung S7 battery is GH43-04574C, for Note 8 its GH82-15090A, its just a shame they used much wider batteries in S8, S9 and plus models, but they might use narrower battery in upcoming Note 9, so upgrading and getting bigger battery might not be out of question
As far as I could tell the Note 8 battery is the most promising for its size and device line (still Samsung Note series, just newer) so maybe better compatibility too and so I went with it
For everyone who would like to repeat this process, of course first you need to open your phone. You can look at ifixit.com note7 teardown or youtube for how to open it up and general guidance before you try anything, especially if its your first time opening a glued phone.
You need to remove at least the motherboard and the old battery for this modification (better yet, to remove all the components - easier to clean after), then you have to cut that frame part colored in red between battery and motherboard, cos original S7 or Note 8 battery is a tiny bit wider and removing that part gives fit just enough space to either one. You can use the dremel or any other similar tool to grind it off (I don't recommend cutting it, cos it might stress the frame too much and break the screen, but its just my preference). Then I used some black paint to mask exposed parts like here and here (for a closer look), optional, but I think its safer that way.
Now then new battery can fit comfy inside, had to bend the flex cable for reference, cos there enough space, also the new battery already comes with its own adhesive strips, if you get a diff battery, you can buy some 3M adhesive or similar double sided tape. What's left now is to remove the controller from the new battery and solder on the controller from the old battery.
Because batteries don't like heat the best bet would be to use spot welder, like they do in factories, but that's a bit on the expensive side (unless you do other electronics projects and happen to have one or made DIY one and even then the size of the tabs would be challenge too). So more realistic option would be to use soldering iron and some solder with flux, but because battery tabs are aluminum just any soldering flux won't work, because solder just wont stick properly and wont make permanent connection, which can add some resistance or even make a loose connection over time. So you must use specific soldering flux which eats into battery tabs and makes perfect connection. I tried few generic flux types I had on hand and basically ruined the endings of the tabs cos the solder just wouldn't stick to it, so I got some cheap zinc flux from local shop and it worked perfectly even using the same solder. After that you can use isopropyl alcohol to remove the remaining flux off the tabs, just don't short the battery.
Some pointers:
Try to get original battery, fake or low quality crap from ebay wont cut it, not only because of lower capacity (there are no chinesium batteries who can beat Samsung in battery capacity in same size, period) but because of quick charging too (you shouldn't risk fixing Samsung fire hazard with your own DIY hazard).
MUST use battery controller from original battery, using other controller can and will produce some problems, the controller itself doesn't measure capacity, only voltage, so diff capacity doesn't matter, but diff controller wont "talk" with the phone properly, only using Note 7 controller the phone can charge from 0 to 100% and give full incremental readings and battery charging application actually see the right capacity (about 3300 mahs in Note 8 battery case).
Solder the old Note 7 battery controller directly to new battery tabs, using wires, extensions, etc could add some resistance to connection and you won't get correct battery readings or end up with crappy or slower charging or worse.
I did tried using Note 8 battery without Note 7 controller, even had to make some DIY connectors. The Note 8 battery connector is the same as the one on Note 7 motherboard so even not taking into account different flex cable length and form, you cant just psychically plug Note 8 battery to Note 7 motherboard. So I took some connectors from dead Samsung S6 motherboards and frankensteined them to flex cable and with some wires I got this and this, thus I could use new the battery without any disassembly or soldering directly (to the battery) just by plugin it with DIY inter connector. It looked all good and tidy inside, that outlined area is there the old flex cable was routed (for reference then closing the phone), but it didn't worked properly, I got crappy indication when charging/discharging, the phone couldn't properly detect exact percentage when charging, like, it could sit on 5% for half an hour, when jumps straight to about 80%, or go gradually to about 30-35 and jump to about 70-80 and just sit there and if rebooted it would go to 99% and so on. Also the official wireless battery cover didn't worked properly too.
As for software side I did jumped for a few weeks through diff roms to find the best one for me (Marshmallow based ones works great, but for some you need diff kernel because of charging cap, while Nougat roms are newer, but can be less stable, lack iris support and official covers, that you can get really cheaply, doesn't work too). So I ended up using original Note 7 Marshmallow rom (the one with 30% charging cap) and hydra kernel version 1.3.5, had to extract this version from hydra rom , cos you can separately download only 1.3 version (from here), recovery twrp 3.1, rooted with SuperSU 2.82 and with Europe Multi-CSC selection from CSC Selection. Of course I still get that nagging notification every time I charge the phone, but its a small nuisance. Also removed some bloatware with No Bloat Free app to make it snappier.
So far it works great for me as everyday driver. I charge the the phone on average every two days, it takes less than two hours on average to charge (I try not to use fast charging much) and its holding about same or even better than my old rooted Note 4 (n910c) with new battery. SOT is great (like more than half a day on wifi playing youtube, ect), (SOT time, usage, by apps. After using the phone for a few months I get average charging/discharging and usage time like this). Of course the system or other apps won't detect the exact capacity because they take the capacity from the model information not from measurements, so because the model is n930f, the system reports original hard coded Note 7 capacity of 3500 mah, but because I used BuildProp Editor app to change the model to n935f other apps shows 3200 mah (like it should for Note FE model), while only battery measuring apps like AccuBattery report actual 3300 mah (estimated capacity is measured, designed capacity can be changed manually, by default it would show 3200 mah) capacity.

glad to hear somebody founds it interesting and that there are more note7 fans
your slow charging speed could be from using low quality battery, most batteries you can find on ebay are fake ones (crappy charging circuit or lower quality and lower capacity or both), also depends on the rom and especially on the kernel you using, i found the hydra kernel being the best with charging speeds. As for note8 battery, its better mostly because its newer and bigger in capacity compared to s7 (3000 vs 3300 mah) and because of the almost identical price i could get them so because if you use real original s7 or note8 battery you have to modify the internal frame for either one to fit why not go with bigger one

soldering shouldn't make a big diff, basically if its works you probably soldered it correctly, otherwise you would have some fire on your hands as for note8 battery its thin enough, if you mean width, then you could try to wiggle it in, i didn't took a chance and made a modification, cos even if you manage to put it in inside it would be way more crammed than the original battery was, so a bit dangerous, as for charging, mine takes less than two hours (i try not to use fast charging much)
more updates and tidied up main post
I've got my brand new Note 7 blocked by Samsung for almost 6 months, and change battery for the S7 version and Hydra Rom.
So far everything, I mean everything is working perfect! Iris, fingerprint, cameras, great sound and was able to install any app that I need so far. S-pen works great and if I charge 100% during the night (mobile data and wifi off, phone on) here's my day for test proposal:
7.00 am disconnect from mains and start wifi until 12:00 (several apps running, facebook , whatsapp, viber, phone calls and sms among others)
12:00 until 15:00 out of office mobile data on, wifi off.
15:00 until 19:00 wifi
19:00 until 00:00 wifi at home, games, facebook and whatever...
00:00 mobile data off, wifi off, phone on, don't charge.
7:00 same routine.
At 11:30, 12:00 it's at 10% battery.
So with the S7 battery on my Note 7 and Hydra I can get at least 20 hours regular use and 14 hours in standby.
I'm very pleased with this solution, I'm not an Adroid Update Maniac so this solution appears to be perfect to me.
Some help over here

you looking for a part number GH82-15090A, it likely gonna cost you at least 20 euros, you could try ordering from some suppliers in europe like https://www.replacebase.co.uk/for-samsung-galaxy-note-8-replacement-battery-eb-bn950abe-3000mah-oem/ or https://www.samparts.eu/en/Samsung-GH82-15090A, or https://www.sparessamsung.com/gb/ba...5090a.html?search_query=GH82-15090A&results=1

i used some random flex cable i had laying around and a few matching connectors salvaged from dead motherboards, but as i pointed out i did that before resoldering old battery controller on the new battery and using that connector proved to be no good cos it didn't charged well and showed inaccurate capacity, etc., so i wouldn't recommend going that way
I don't have the note 7 battery controller
Someone had been using it ever since it got released, and 2 weeks ago his battery got bigger and had to remove it. He threw it all away. He gave the note 7 without the battery, thinking I could play around with it. Soy only chance of making this phone work again is if I use a note 8 battery.

you could try searching on ebay or other sites then to find a fake or used battery, cos using diff battery with diff controller will yield various problems, like not charging properly, reporting inaccurate capacity (so it would shut down randomly) and so on

those are hard to come by, so its completely up to you
Thank you for your instruction.
What about the batteries thickness? Isn't Note8 or S7 batteries are more thick than Note7 case?
And I wonder if it's possible to use S9 or Note9 batteries now. Can someone tell?

Note8 or S7 OEM batteries are the same thickness as note7 (aftermarket chinesium ones can differ though), as for s9 or note9 batteries, those are considerably bigger in size, like shorter but much wider and so not usable in note7
Why are the Note FE batteries so hard to come by?

well, any legit supplier had to pull out any note 7 batteries from being sold and note fe simply wasn't released as widely as note 7 or any other galaxy series phone, so most suppliers don't even have any parts for it, including batteries

S20 Ultra - Worthy upgrade over Note 10?

I'm using Note 10 for months now, and happy with this compact flagship. But I want to get more battery life from my phone, and not considering to root it.
Does S20 Ultra can have more battery life with 5000 mAh battery and reducing the display to 1080p 60hz? I would consider switching, or maybe waiting for Note 20 Ultra

My note 10 is fine, I just though that 3500 mAh is to small :crying:
I went from a regular Note 10 to S20+. I loved the Note 10 and had absolutely nothing against it, but I was just itching for a new phone. Aside from lacking a Spen, the S20+ is better in every way. Even with 96 Hz refresh, the S20+ lasts longer than the Note 10, and the Ultra will go even longer. But if you use the Spen a lot, you might want to wait for the Note 20.

I also thought the Note 10 battery was small. The S20+ larger battery was the primary reason I switched. That extra 1000 mAh makes a big difference :good:

Battery and bether photo...
I have Note 10+ 5G and S20 ULTRA 5G...
i have the note 10+ and bought the 512gb ultra , nearly the same but having 5g is cool and taking moon shots on 100x zoom is a plus. i have also kept my note 10 + along with my note 9 , do find it a shame samsung have dropped the heart rate sensor from the note 9 as samsung health is useless if you dont have an old samsung phone or a galaxy watch

Then avoid the ultra as it has issues that indicate worse performance than the s20+ (according to many reviewers) I've come from a rooted NOTE 4 to an S8 to the s20+ so to me the disparity in performance is night & day.
It is possible if you don't mind to add something like a ZeroLemon case , it has an 8k mAh battery connected to it , naturally size increases.
On my note 4 I used betwin 10k mAh battery for 3 months usage to start before I noticed NO benefit as the performance significantly depleted.
Review & find out if ZeroLemon offer something for the note 10
