I'm trying to get the chrome browser to work on my 1st gen fire tv that is running fireos 5.2.4.1.
I've I've previously installed Google Play Music so I have the play services from that install.
Chrome loaded and starts up but when I select my user account it tells me I need to up Play Services. I can't find any info on how to update the Play Services
info:
1st gen Fire TV
fireOS 5.2.4.1
Chrome 55.0.2882.91
play services 8.7.03 (2645110-030)
Google Play Store (6.0.2-leanback) (does't load but was needed for Play Music)
Any thoughts or suggestions?

I have a rooted KF with GO Launcher EX and Google Play Store installed. I have no problem accessing Music, Video, and Apps from the Kindle Store, however when trying to access Newstand and Books from the Kindle Store it seems as if I am directed to a web version of the Kindle store. It is not the familar grey and orange layout and many mags and books are listed as not available.
Hopeing to find a solution, thanks

That means that Google Play updated your Kindle app and replaced it. Try uninstalling the update in the settings.

Thanks, I have uninstalled the update from the applications section of the KF but still have the same problem. The option to completely uninstall the app is greyed out. Is there anything else I could do?
(Update) After a while this solution did work, is there some way to prevent the Kindle app from automatically updating again?:
In Google Play Store there is a check box that states Allow automatic updating this is checked by default for the kindle for android. Unchecking this box will stop the automatic updating/replacing of the default kindle fires kindle app. Hope this helps
Thank you!
Hi,
I have a question about the Google Play Store. I rooted, and thereafter installed the Google Play Store using the following method:
http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-install-the-google-play-store-on-the-amazon-fire-tv/
After installing the Google Play Store, I used the "Market Helper" app to get the Play Store to allow all apps, using the following method:
http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-trick-google-play-store-into-allowing-all-apps/
Initially, the Google Play Store seemed to allow all apps, as I was able to install apps such as Slingplayer and HBO Go directly from the Play Store.
I thereafter installed some Google TV apps (You Tube via the Play Store, Viki via sideload method), and afterwards the Google Play Store no longer allows all apps (not sure if the Google TV apps were the cause).
I attempted to clear cache/data the Google Play Store and Play Services apps, uninstall those apps and reinstall the 4 Google Play apps, as well as started from step 1 in the first link above.
The Google Play Store still doesn't allow all the apps as it did immediately after I first installed the Play Store.
If anyone can advise on how to get the Play Store to allow all apps again, I would appreciate it. Thank you.
EDIT: I was only able to clear the cache/data for the Play Store and Play Services apps, but could not find the other 2 google apks on the Fire TV to clear them, if anyone knows how to clear the cache and data for all 4 apps, please let me know so I can try that also. Thanks.
Got my device rooted, and I installed all of the google app services. I am able to launch the play store, but when I try to launch the google play music, it just sits at the orange logo screen and hangs. I am logged in on my google account on the play store.
Anyone have any advice?
I had the same issues with Google Music (as a sideload using Apps2Fire on my Android phone).
BTW, how did you get Google Play? I tried to install the APKs for a Fire pad/ Fire phone. Didn't work.
Do you have a link to the instruction set?.....
I seem to always have an issue with logging out of my account on these rooted fire tv boxes without having to completely uninstall google play store. And it's more difficult now that there is this new rooting method with the special verison of google play store I can't simply delete the google play store. Is there a way to log into a different account on google play store if I want to give this box to someone else?
I currently have a Fire TV 3 and was trying to load a new app which required Google play services. After installing the google play store and services the app started working. However Terrarium TV stopped working. Deleted the Play Store App and still Terrarium failed. I went into the filemanager and then deleted the google play services and Terrarium started working again
My questions are -
1) Is there a workaround where I can have Google play services and terrarium work ??
2) I there away of not deleting the Google play Services file - but just disable it - I could not see the play services registered as an app to disable .(which is why I went into Filemanager to delete the file
Any help would be appreciated - as I do not want to have 2 another seperate box just for this one app
