I have stock (rooted then unrooted) JC with APEX launcher. It sounds crazy but my phone screen doesn't turn off by itself.
There are several times I woke up in the morning to find out my phone screen was on overnight (screen must have turned on when I plugged in the charger). Right now, I turned on my phone just to see if the screen would turn off at 1) lock screen 2) apex home screen. neither works.
I tried all these with different timeout settings (15 sec, 30 sec, 1min, etc.).
Anyone having the same problem? Anyone with solution?

Yes rebooting always solves the issue but can i get a permanent fix? It's kinda annoying. I'm on GT-N7100 JB4.1.2 and i've never rooted.
Kinda glad i wasnt the only one having this issue. Happened to me yesterday. Kinda freaked me out as i dont want anything wrong with this phone.. reboot worked for me yesterday.
On a side note.. every once in awhile my youtube app goes to **** and it refuses to play videos.. it says network error yet i can do everything else... reboot fixes that too.

Yeah no kidding. I really don't want anything to go wrong with my phone. But unfortunately it has been kinda buggy from day one. A minor issue with the stock keyboard was solved after the 4.1.2 update. But the weird error with the Quick Commands thingy ain't getting sorted out, even after the update. Of course, reboots also never help.
Oh someone please tell me what's wrong with my phone The screen timeout thingy ain't working An unattended message or missed call means my display stays on till I turn it off manually A reboot would solve the issue but then it would come back again. Any permanent fix? Please help I've never rooted my phone.

Uninstall any apps that keep your screen on or go through the apps list and kill everything individually. imediashare keeps my screen on after I'm done using it cause it still wants to stay running.

Went through the 124 apps that had WAKE_LOCK permission. (Used Permission Explorer). If I count out the recently installed apps before which the problem had originally started, I guess there aren't any suspicious apps. Oops Aren't there any apps that forces the display to go off? ^_^

I'm just throwing it out there by maybe go into recovery and fix permissions? Clear the cache? Factory reset if all else fails I guess.

Hi. Having the same problem... However, i believe it has to do with the feature that prevents screen from turning off if you are looking at it. Try to turn it off and on. Perhaps it will help.
If you continue to have problems, just disable that feature... it is a good adon, but having the screen turn off tose battery is more important.
Hope it helps.
Let us know if it worked out
I have had the phone for less a week and I have had to pull the battery twice cause the screen became unresponsive to touch. Was wondering if any one else has had this issue. Very frustrating.

Once today after I woke the screen while shopping, it just froze. Again a few days back when I think I was editing text in an online form. I wonder if the keyboard is playing a role...

If it the lg key board then I would agree. No issues once I went to google or swift key boards
Happened on the G3 that I exchanged last week. Woke it from deep sleep and unlocked the lock screen but after that it was semi frozen. I could turn the screen off and on with the power button but that was it. Had to do a battery pull.

does it still happen? mine randomly freezes on lockscreen. I will have to wait a minute or so and then it comes back to life
I am experiencing this problem as well. It didn't start happening until I turned off the Knock On feature.
I have to battery pull my phone about twice a day.
I don't want to turn Knock On back on because it is a battery drain and it incredibly sensitive.
Does anyone know a solution?

Just had it again in line at Costco...annoying. After a pull I've downloaded No Lock and activated it...this is the second time in two days it has frozen transitioning from wake to unlock screen. I'll report back in a few days if this was a fix.

Mine is doing the same thing and tends to do it at least every other day. Mine hard locks to the point of requiring a battery pull. From what I've found:
1. It happens on ART more than Dalvik. I left it on Dalvik for 4 days and it didn't happen once.
2. Mine tends to lock up most frequently when I pull the notification shade down while on the lock screen, probably accounting for 75% of the locks.
Is this consistent with anyone else's experience?
Mine will do every two to three days or so, but I stopped using the LG keyboard and am using the Google keyboard and seems to have helped. Also it gives me a warning before it goes dead to touch in that it shudders a bit.

It started after I turned off the Knock On off. Which I did thru the secret menu. I literally have to bang on screen to make it wake up.

Mine freezes every other day, and sometimes twice in the same day. Running stock launcher, all animations off, and ART. All freezes seem to be after double-tap wake, and then either a notification swipe or page scroll..still looking for patterns.

I'll just add that last night I added 'No Lock' app and enabled it, so now only a wake to get to desktop, and no freeze since, but it's only been a day, too early to tell.
Hi guys, I've been having a persistent issue on my two weeks old Nexus 5X, basically a few times a day auto rotation stops working forcing me to restart the device.
I've never used Marshmallow, is anyone having this issue on DP5?
Thanks in advance.
Yes I'm having the exact same issue. I've been using an app which allows you to manually set the orientation through a persistent notification.
Hopefully this gets fixed soon.
I had that issue too
I just turned off and on the auto rotate from notification bar and now no problem at all

Nope, worked completely fine on MM. I've been looking out for the cause of the problem to see whether it's a bug in split screen or something.
Edit: Atefi's solution didn't work for me either.

I found it was definitely Pokémon GO that breaks mine. Restart gets it going again.
So let me know if you have the same issue... No matter how long I set my screen off time for, it always goes go sleep after 10 seconds!
Don't have that issue here. ATT version
I do not have that issue either (AT&T). Perhaps there is an email account or other "administrator" that requires a short screen timeout? I have seen that before.

The main screen. I turned moto display off and it still happens
I ever tried rebooting into safe mode and same problem.. Going to try a factory reset later
My motoz2 is doing this same thing. And it is frustrating. (Verizon). Have you figured out how to fix this?
Do you have adaptive brightness turned on?

So I did a master reset and didn't connect my tumi battery until the play store updated the moto mod app to the newest version.. No more screen issue! I highly recommend anyone who gets this phone, update the app first before you attach any type of mod.
After setting up my smart lock I have noticed it not working sometimes. When this happens if I go into security and smart lock after I put in my pin I just have a blank white screen where the smart lock menu should be. But here is the weird thing. I have tried restarting several times and it does not help. But sometimes it just shows back up on its own and starts working again. Then after a while it's gone again. This is driving me crazy! Anyone got a suggestion?
Thanks,
X

Does your smart lock also stop working when the menu isn't there ?
Seems to. I notice it mostly in the car. I have set my Bluetooth FM transmitter as trusted device. So when I get into the car, the transmitter connects turning on Android Auto and I'm greeted with the Android Auto home page. When Smart Lock acts up, I have to touch the finger scanner to unlock phone to see Android Auto home page.

Nope. No root here. Simply stock. Only had the phone a few weeks. I don't see a need to root.
It's interesting to see this possibly effect rooted / non rooted phones alike. Definitely a bug on Google's side.
Googling this indicates it's a bug that goes back about a year. I never saw it with my Z Play, only the Force 2. But I believe Z Play is 7.0. The Force 2 is 7.1.1.
How long has 7.1.1 been out?

Looking into it on Google groups that seems like the temp fix for a lot of users. Google is supposedly aware of the issue and is working on a fix. It has something to do with their servers. I had this problem with my S8, and Nexus 5X. Not having this problem with my Note 8 and Z2.
