Hi, I have a OnePlus 3 with LineageOS, I also used to have the ElementalX kernel on which I enabled the battery monitor and I could see the battery drain percentage/hour in real time, at first it was 1,5%/h idling which is already terrible (for ref i used my schoolmates nexus, which had 0,5%/h and also googled a bit) but then it got worse and worse until it got to 3%/h so I decided to clean flash the rom and leave the stock kernel on... And that has left me with awful OCD about my battery since I can't see the drain in real time anymore (Previously I used the EX Kernel Manager which works only with that kernel)
So I need to know 2 things, does anyone know why my battery drain could have been acting out? And more importantly, please recommend me some apps that can display the idle battery drain in real time...
Thanks in advance.
Ex kernel mangaer works with all kernels. You could use accubattery as well, it does have a similar option too. Idle drain needs to be checked on long runs, for example if you use your phone for texting and turn your screen on/off many times, a battery monitor app could not be that accurate because when it scales the percentage used by screen off it could register the amount of power used by the screen when it was on ( but it wasn't register as screen on because the 1% dropped when the screen was off even if you used that 1% when the screen was on). I hope it's clear enough. English is not my native language and it's hard to explain it.

Hi all!
How do I find what exactly is draining the battery?
Ie. is there an app or something that can tell me what exactly is doing the damage?
(Settings - About - Battery use is not very helpful: now i know that it's Android System and Cell standby.)
It used to work perfectly fine for up to two days with wifi, 3g and sync. Up until cca a week ago. Now, if 3g is ON, the phone gets really warm and eats battery life in just a few hours. Wifi, on the other hand, can be on (sleep policy: never off) and i still get 1-2 days of battery life.
Specs:
Wildfire
CM7 nightly 256 *
latest radio *
* doubt any of these two is the culprit - trying to resolve the battery issue i updated my CM7 nightly (v.80 or so) to the latest one (v.256). Full wipe as always. That didn't do the trick. That's when i found some posts on xda suggesting that flashing the radio might help. Tried that too. No joy.
Try with these 2 apps. It should provide an overview:
CPU Spy (To see if your phone downclocks automatically or not. An 8 hour battery life on idle doesn't suggest it to me)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011497
Better Battery Stats (Important - You can check the Wakelocks and actually see the process name which is consuming CPU cycles / battery. Its all explained nicely in the OP)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
I am using CM7 Nightly 256. I'm getting a good battery life (1 day approx) I recommend you to remove unwanted apps, disable autosync, disable gps when not in use. And ya use the apps recommended by 3xeno as above
And consider using SetCPU. Screen-off profile.
Thanks for the suggestions. Looking into it at the moment with better battery stats (and it's documentation). Will post a solution if i find one.
i have the same problem with battery...must charge daily.
same problem here
Running CM7 7.0.3,and after starting to use the ICS theme, started to get battery drain.
BBS shows the progress "suspend" work extensively, but can't figure out which program is causing this.
CPU Spy show 84%-85% in deep sleep, which means something is running back there.
See attached Jpegs.
Will a newer kernel flash do the trick?or will a Rom upgrade?
Thanks in advance.
Try to use CPU Master Pro. In Screen Off Profilles try to put 264Mhz Max CPU frequency
Before that my battery live 3 days

84-85% on deep sleep is fine. As per your screenshot, are you getting 18Hrs battery life (From 100 to 40)? If that's the case, it's actually pretty good battery life.
i wanted to ask. do heavy themes consume too much battery?
In my eyes any colours on the screen would use more battery than a black image. It's probably not that noticeable though.

Blacks are more energy efficient on LED screens only, since there the LED can just turn off.
Here the LCD needs to display a black color.
My phone:
- stock rom .62
- latest doomkernel (v10)
-.36 baseband
I removed all bloat, have 310mb internal memory free (ran supercharger)
I configured setcpu 806max, 134min, smartass governor and screen off profile 365max 134min
When the screen is off, i don't have the drain. It was at 74% when i went to sleep, when i got up about 9 hours later it was STILL at 74%, so there's practically no drain when the screen is off which is really nice.
But when the screen is on, the drain is immense. I have about 1% drain every 3min when the screen is on. It's on max brightness. I just left the screen on continuously for about 3 hours, and it has gone from 70% to 14% in just those 3 hours leaving the screen on (just leaving the screen on, doing nothing else on the phone).
Is this normal? If not, can somebody tell me how i can find out what is causing this drain? I'm happy about the drain (which is zero to none) when the screen is off though...
you are doing everything ,however if you are using high powered apps like Muffin Knight/Experiment /etc they will drain battery fast under 3 hours
I'm not running any apps besides the standard+setcpu
Display needs to be lowered. Make it Auto.
Turn Wifi off. If you don't need it, it's just awful to have it on because it's always searching & searching and wasting battery.
Also, use this app that I'll link below. It has something called a "Smart Power-saving" function where all 2/3/4G and WiFi will shut off when your battery is 20% or lower, thus leaving only Phone and SMS activated, and there's an option for root users where the cpu will underclock when the screen is locked! It DEFINITELY helps!
The market page is all in Chinese, but the app is in English.

Hi everyone!
I'm using JellyTime 4.2.2R8 on my DHD.
It's working fast but battery drain so much.
Ex: I only view screen, scroll something. Everage 1 minute, battery degree 1-2%
Who can help optimize this problem?, thanks!

Hi,
I installed JellyTime R8 on Monday evening, and I haven't experienced such a battery drain so far, it goes down a bit faster than my stock Gingerbread+Sense ROM. I might have other stats issues (wrong "on battery" duration, charge stuck at 90%...), but no drain so far.
I am not well experienced in flashing ROMs and how to solve problems, but I have seen lots of people advising to flash the battery stats and recalibrate. But you need a few complete charge/discharge cycles to make it work properly. (But according to a few other people, it's a kind of religious belief too...)
You can also install a more precise battery stats app. I saw a more detailed message in Jellytime Dev thread (in one of the last pages). If I find it again, I let you know.

I cannot find again the thread/post where I saw this information, but the application some people advise to use is BetterBatteryStats.
To give you a counter example: since I flashed JellyTime R8 (Monday 20th Mai, 23h GMT+1), I fully charged my phone only twice.
The first discharge took almost a day (but I used it a lot, configuring and playing with the new features).
The second discharge started 33 hours ago and I still have 50% as we speak. Maybe the stats are wrong, but the phone is still ON after 33hours. I'll let you know how long it lasts.
I am on GSM roaming all day long, but my phone stays most of the time in standby mode.
A few things that I've done to optimize the battery life:
- remove the constant location-tracking, both GPS and 3G (especially as GPS is not working since I flashed JT R8);
- remove permanent/auto 3G connection, as I am spending all the day abroad, it is useless to keep 3G activated, without data roaming on.
Go in Settings/location and switch the toggle off.
Go in Settings, expand Wireless and Networks (Plus), then Mobile Networks and untick the first box (my ROM is in french so I am not 100% sure of the translation, it might be something like Activate Data)

Thanks Matth59 !
I toggled off some setting in phone (GPS, MobileData, effect screen, animation, turn off notification some app...)
But but it does not improve the problem of battery.
I charged full battery, after 24minutes
Saw status of battery on 24m19s, (95%)
Screen 70% (I set bright of screen about 20-30%)
Cell standby 6%
Android system 5%
Phone idle 5%
Wifi 3%
Facebook 3%
Android OS 2%
Media server 2%

And how long does it usually take for it to be discharged?
The second time I charged it, it said that charge was complete and stopped charging at 90%, and I got the impression that it reached that level quite fast. But the device is still on, after 38 hours.
I hope somebody with more experience in that field can give you a better advice or more information, than just flashing the battery stats and recalibrate it.
After one week of using R8, this is how battery is going for me.
On standby, it can last as long as it used to with the stock Sense + Gingerbread ROM (or even a bit more, but maybe because I haven't reinstalled all my apps).
When using the phone, battery life is going down quite fast, and I am not sure if it can last more than 1 day of normal use (3g, mails, messages, calls...).
The most battery consuming task is the screen. It makes me wonder if it could be related to the feature that was introduced by Google since JellyBean 4.1: Project Butter, which makes everything smooth in Android.
Hi guys i have my pixel 3xl and my battery is drain too fast when i dont use it in night fo exemple a left him 100% after 6hours i found him 70%
I chek if thers is an app in background and nothing i Factory reset it 3 times and same thing
Let it drain down to about 10%, and then check the battery stats to see what is high on the list. I get less than 1% an hour, and have for the longest time. Running Android 11 since beta 3, and now official.
Hi! I got exactly the same thing with my Pixel 3 and got the same issue, it seems like our device cannot deep sleep. Here is my battery usage and wake lock on EXKM (Running latest Kirisakura, screenshot attached)
Also mine, last night it was 100% then this morning, when i checked it, its already at 95%. Also i noticed that my 3xl now is draining too fast, any tips on regarding this to save or extend my battery? Thanks guys
First week(nearly) after factory reset or flashing img your google play services should drain too much battery which is normal as settings are calibrated, usage patterns adjusted, small updates installed etc.
Most battery issues are related to some rogue app, bad signal reception(it does not need to be full bar, even selected frequency by carrier or phone) or confused google play services. If it is google play then root needed to find root cause(pun intended )
For my case a full day with 1h+ gaming and whatsapp, phone and other stuff 4hrs sot and generally less than %20 percent battery at evening to start charging. You should be happy if you are near this values.
Hi! Thanks for the insight, I'll try to wait until a week and going to post an update here! Just curious because I can't find any information about the kernel wake lock that constantly occurring on my new phone
Edit 1:
So after a few days of searching, I found out the one who cause the deep sleep issue was my modified settings for the Entropy (I modify it via EXKM), after I set it back to default the Deep Sleep issue completely gone and I can stay 0.2 ~ 0.3%/hr when the phone is Deep Sleeping
I hope my issue can help you, and try to reflash it via fastboot with the latest (Android 10 / Android 11) pixel image just to make sure that there is no corrupted data
hi, has anyone experienced the battery drain when the phone is idle?
last night i've left the phone on 20-22% battery and when i woke up - the phone was turned off because the battery reached 0%...
when it charged - the idle battery consumption was off the wall...
device is about a month and a half old...
i'm using stock MIUI (latest, EU), not rooted
phone is slightly debloated via adb fastboot tool...
phone doesn't use 5G network at home or ever, mobile data is turned off when i'm home
i just can't figure out what is happening...
thanks in advance
Debloated too much I think. Have the same issue when I have Samsung Phone and used adb debloater
not sure about that...
i didn't touch any crucial Xiaomi apps, just recommended ones and never had any bebloat battery drain issues on any device which was debloated or even rooted
update:
last night i left the device with 38% battery, just to see what would happen
in the morning, 8 hours after - it still had 35% charge strange...
note: in the meantime, i adjusted some apps not to work in the background if not needed and uninstalled (almost) never used Google Lens (which i've installed few days ago to try something)
didn't touch any battery settings for common social and messaging apps that i use (Facebook, fb messenger, google messages)
so, maybe the culprit was either google lens or some of those adjusted apps - or the device doesn't read the battery well when under 30%... i'll see what will happen in the next few days...
@60nine Settings > Battery > Battery Use (check "Daily battery usage chart")
Look there if you see any app that has consumed much battery.
you seriously think that i don't already know how to check this? (how do you think i've found that the idle was draining the battery?
no suspicious apps there, idle battery consumption was at the top...
Sorry, I overlooked that you have already wrote it is the idle drain and not a specific app
no problem
