Lineage for Motorola (Obake) - LineageOS Questions & Answers

I have a Motorola mini(obake) and a Bionic that's old as crap , weird thing is statistical for bionic is only 33 yet lineage is nightlies. Cyanogen did nightlies for Obake its a way newer phone(yes unlockingthis bootloader wasn't the easiest of phones to unlock) but lots of people use to make ROMs CM RR Exodus ect.. Does anyone else think Obake is needed much more than ROMs for bionic? Last CM I used on a bionic was so slow doesn't seem worth it to nightlie a bionic and effort should just be put into a phone that can run 13/14 no problem like obake. Anyone else agree?
Thanks

Best ROM and kernel which aren't nightlies?

I am no fan of nightlies and only look for stable versions. Currently, I run stock 4.0.4 but am looking into flashing a stable ROM and kernel. I tried AOKP nightly and a franco kernel nightly but want a stable release.
I've heard a lot of good things about AOKP Milestone 4 and Franco's Milestone 2 kernel, but what do you think? I'd like CM9, but there are only nightlies released so far.
What ROM and kernel work best for you that aren't nightly builds, i.e "stables" or "milestones?"
I personally haven't seen ANY problems on the newest AOKP.
I think the buglist on 32 is literally down to 2 things that people have found...
Pressing "reset navbar" causes a SystemUI FC loop.
Fix: Don't press it? All it does is return your navbar back to stock settings. You can do this manually in 5 quick button presses if you really wanted to anyway.
Torch will enable...but not disable...when used from the "power menu" (the menu that pops up when you hold power.
Fix: Remove torch option from power menu...use toggles instead. Or, toggle "off" with the status-bar toggle if you wish.
You see, I don't like nightly builds or builds which are updated every second day.
That's the thing about nightlies. One fix for one bug may break another feature and fixing that might break a third feature. I have had previous experiences with nightlies on my old Nexus One and therefore I want to have a stable release.
I appreciate your input and it's been noted. If many people happen to recommend the nightly builds I might just try them.
I love this phone and have nothing to complain about. It's a huge step up from the N1.
While that may remain true...
And I appreciate the fact that you're a purist...
I'm generally THE bug-finder for AOKP builds.
The devs even seem to take note of my posts...and have PM'ed me a few times asking for logs/details/tests/etc.
Clean flashing (obviously) and I haven't found anything in the last couple days.
Also, while these "builds" are technically "nightlies" in that they're pulled for us at random, it seems...
They also don't occur every night (as you may be well aware) so if the daily flashing drives you away...it'll be more like weekly with AOKP if you want to stay up-to-date.
Gosh.
I never ever recommend a rom to people asking. Generally just tell 'em to "find your zen" on your own...
But I just wanted to emphasize the stability here.
Edit:
Oh, and builds 31/32 are prequels to another Milestone build. So if you don't find something you like by then...Milestone 5 is always a possibility.
I don't know if there will be a 33 first...
But Roman mentioned we're fast-approaching one.

What do you mean with me being a purist?
Lol, just that you like everything to "just work" and be completely stable.
I don't mean it offensively.

Well that's not entirely true, and I guess I somehow worded it wrong. I want a ROM that's stable, kinda lika OTA-stable but anything near a stable OTA is fine by me. The part where it "just works" it not really 100% accurate as I wouldn't choose android as my OS if I wanted stuff to "just work".
Some customization has to be done for me, whether it's homescreen editing or overclocking and whatnot.
Either I worded it wrong or you misunderstood, but I consider the first option since I'm not speaking English natively.
im using black ice aokp with francokernel r135.stable as official release

We honestly need to ban "what's the best rom" topics...
I've decided I want to run a nightly now, after spending hours and hours of checking ROMs, and I think it's safe to say I'll choose between either CM9 and AOKP.
Then it comes down to what kernel to use.
I am really sorry for being such a pain in the rear for you guys.

I'm using Aokp 32 and Franco 135. Have had no issues, reboots or fCs. Just ensured not to do the 2 things mentioned above.
I absolutely love it. Couldn't be better.

Okay, I've flashed franco 135 and AOKP 32. Feels alright so far.

My preferences in order of quality, stability and speed.
LiquidSmooth 1.2 (default imo kernel)
BAMF 1.2
Foxhound 0.4
AOKP m4
Liquidsmooth 1.25 + Trinity - Bomb Proof.
May test out a new rom soon but liquid has everything I need so dont see a reason to switch expect the fact to see what other roms has to offer. Still waiting on CM9 to get few more features.
I only use the stable Rooms/Kernels myself. I been using AOKP build 32 and used Tuna-faux 123 and had no issues or problems. I am noe using the stable version of Franco's Kernel. And again, no issues. I used to always use regular CM but after using AOKP I just keep using it. I know there's all kinds of roms built off of AOKP as others. But I just use the stock versions of ROMS. Like stock CM9 or AOKP and not a ROM built off of it.
There's a lot of great choices out there. Find what works best for you and your device.

AOKP 32 with Latest Stable Lean Kernel with Interactivex governor = Best battery and performance!
Honestly I'm loving AOKP M3 and Leankernel 3.0.0. I had battery issues with francos and stuck with it till about #13, then switched to lean and never looked back. My battery life has improved dramatically and performance is still no problem
With regard to AOKP's stability, I used to stay up to date with it but I think I might just start looking for the milestones, mostly because I think I don't end up using the vast majority of features they introduce with every build. I also got hit with that systemui bug in 32 and ended up just reverting to 31 before the devs posted a workaround because it made the phone unusable. I think I got a little comfy assuming that the beta line was generally stable.
I've been thinking of trying Liquidsmooth when they release the newer 1.3, which based on the chatter in its thread sounds like it will be soon.
As far as kernels go, I think leankernel is the way to go if you're a fan of stable releases. The stable branch probably sees an update about once a week with new features. I don't use franco's kernel mostly because the milestone releases are so far and few between, but apparently he's working with the liquid team for optimizing their rom, so maybe franco M3 and liquid 1.3 will be a nice combo to settle into when those hit.

... at least for me imo CM9 + GLaDOS are my picks i always come back to them every time (so far)

[Q] Should I flash cyanogenmod?

I've been a greedy Cyanogenmod user for the past 2 years on my Samsung Galaxy S, which has now been replaced by a Galaxy Nexus. I'm in love with the smooth vanilla experience, but going nightly tempts me. I'm well aware of all the features added by the Cyanogenmod team, but I'm also aware CM10 is still unstable. So the question is, is it worth it flashing CM10 for it's great additions even if it's unstable?
Also, what degree of "unstableness" are we talking about?

Well, compared to the galaxy s, it is very stable. Since its AOSP which is made for the galaxy nexus, the bugs isn't that frequent.

I haven't used CM10 for several weeks I also used Euroskank CM10 before that and both were stable then. I assume that it is even better now.
I can't think of a JB ROM yet that I would call "unstable".

Should I flash cyanogenmod?
I have ran both 9 and 10, personally I found 9 to be a more stable enviroment, specailly the early builds
I've been on cm 10 nightlies since they came out. I will admit there were a couple major bugs at first but those have pretty much have been ironed out. I say flash and enjoy.

Its rare to find any ROM for the GN unstable in my opinion. I have pretty much flashed every ROM in my thread with minor problems if any.

If you have issues with the gnex using CM its usually fixed in the next nightly. It is possible that you have issues with CM specific features. Those also get fixed pretty darn quick. In general, using cyanogenmod with official good phones are a safe bet that you have the best of cm and most stable out of any other cm phone until stable releases.

Flash it. It is pretty stable for daily use IMO. Its just that screen may flicker at times, settings might fc at certain times and some settings might be left blank (in my case Gallery settings is empty).
so yea, its really worth a flash and if you dont like it, there's always NANDROID.
CM10 is rock solid for this phone IMHO. The only reason I bought the gsm version of this phone is because it is supported so well by the cyanogenmod team.
I say flash it. You won't regret it.

If you use a different Gapps package, ie Formula, the blank settings should be fixed.

also a ex-galaxy s user here, let me tell you, it's not just cm, all have roms are built from the ROM source available (gapps/device binaries are proprietary, but still), not just the kernel, like it was on i9000.
flash anything you want. roll your own if you want.

I know how nightlies work, I was just concerned about switching to CM because my CM9/10 experience with my SGS wasn't hassle-free at all. Thank you for all your replies, you're great as usual!

I have also migrated from galaxy s ( with cm 10) to gnex stock jb. I don't feel the need to flash anymore.... I am loving the stability of stock jb. I needed notification toggles n t9 dialer so I downloaded apps from play store.

Dude I'm in the same situation like you. Switched from galaxy s to nexus and tryed more than one rom on it.
You can try Cyanogenmod to see how it develops on your phone but I would recommend using Codename Android. It's much more stable and you can configure a TON of settings.
Try them out.
I like both 9 and 10 and found the night lies a lot more stable then the cm7 night lies. I still like cm7 more though

Back to android on CM11

Hey guys back from IOS and I love CyanogenMod I have had it on all of my phones and tablets and I'm still sticking with it but I have been out of the game for a bit and I know you can't tell me that a kernal is better that an another but can you guys point me in the right direction to look?
Your best bet is to keep and run the base kernel thats in the final CM build, switching kernels can sometimes cause more issues than resolve.
Steer clear of nightlies, especially if you need reliability out of your phone.
Nightlies are the developer's way of trying out changes and tweeks on the build but using your phone as a test platform .
Other than that final builds can be quite stable and user friendly . I run CM on my tablets with battery life and performance that rivals any of the new or latest tablets.
Pp.
ktoonsez recently updated his kernel to run on latest CM11 and 12. If I were running CM, that'd be my choice. Just my .02.

Advice needed ... best Cyanogen

Hey all, wanting to try Cyanogenmod on my new-to-me SII T989. I've never ran Cyan. before so I'm looking for advice. Would you guys recommend:
- last official stable 10.2
- official nightly 11.x
- Bryan2894's CM13 port
On the one hand I want to get the newest version I can run that isn't too slow in everyday use. On the other hand I don't like updating/reflashing the OS for every single minor change, I want to put something that works on and leave it for years. I'm leaning towards 10.2 or the 11.x nightly which has had lots of development. I flipped through the CM13 thread but haven't read the whole thing in detail; some people are reporting 3D games are slow?
I don't think any of the *current* apps I want to run require Android >4.x but who knows how long that will last.
Just looking for some quick opinions from more active users, thanks!
cm13 by bryan working really cool for me.
best battery,performance,smooth.

The rom Cyanogen on the Oneplus3

Hello,
I currently have a sony z3 compact with the latest cyanogen output 12.1 nightly, the oneplus3 or oneplus3t interest me a lot.
I want to buy it, but I do not want to buy it without being able to install a version of cyanogen "stable" I saw that on the rom the camera does not work, there is quite a lot of Bug and the battery empties quickly.
I would like to know if you have more information about the rom and if you advise me to wait a little so that the bugs are corrected
Thank you
I'm using latest snapshot of the official CM13 and it works without an issues. There's also a camera port for improved quality (OxygenOS comparable) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/themes/port-oxygenos-stock-camera-cm-t3451721
You can use whatever version you would like to. As my oneplus 3 being my daily driver. I know its hard to work with a buggy environment. I took my time and waited for a rather bug less os. And here it is. The cyanogen team just released the cyanogen nightly. Which is seriously dope. I get battery upto 1 day with just one charge. That too with dash charging. As it supports dash charging as well. Then only you would wonder whether the forum is correct or i m. See there are a lot of threads made by different community members. There was no official cyanogen thread created untill they released the latest nightly. So whenever you see some buggy page. It seems to be someone with a custom version of the cyanogen nightly. You can either opt for that or the one from cyanogen site. As using the basic version straight from cyanogen i can tell you. Its a serious deal. You get everything you could ask for. A debloated os with great performance and more than anything battery backup is humongous.
Although you still have to work around with some issues. But nothing's major. Plus the echo in call is there for some variants. While others had none. I had none personally. Just some minor bugs and issues. I hope will be solved within weeks. And you'll get a stable os soon. Opt for any of them. Choice is yours. My vote goes to cm 14.1 nightly from cm site.
A big thank you for your answers which are complete
I'll buy one more 3
Thank you :good:
