I have been using Samsung Pay with with my Gear S3 for months and really became spoiled.
This week, a few days ago Samsung pay told me I had to run an update on my phone. After allowing unknown sources in Andr 7.1.2, it downloads, then comes to a Samsung screen with "Cancel" "Install" both look enabled.
When you press Install, nothing :crying:, hour or so later, trying diff things, nothing. For now I can no longer use Samsung Pay. Oh yea the "Cancel" link/button works just fine!
Really bummed!
=====
I am guessing it maybe the new "External Sources" feature ... ug.. it does not display or think that Samsung pay is an external source!
Just a guess, but explains why the "Install" link/button looks enabled... but does not work...
Are you rooted? Because the new Samsung Pay update doesn't allow root on your phone. I get the same kind of thing you are describing. Trying to find a workaround, but no luck yet.

Thx for the reply.
No, it took several attempts of uninstalling of "Samsung Pay" S-PAY , rebooting and finally I was able to get S-PAY to install from scratch. Of course I lost my Credit Cards that were validated, but that is a minor problem.
Not sure what was going on, never got any type of "External Sources" warning, etc... For what ever reason this update from Samsung did not go in easy on my Pixel XL...
Rooted Phones

You may have seen this http://www.theandroidsoul.com/android-pay-with-root/..
If not hope it helps. Basically I read somewhere else, you have to hide root when using Pay, then unhide... Ect... Sounds like a pain..

I got impatient last night and finally bit the bullet and rooted. Froze a bunch of apps (including Knox ofcourse) and made some changes with MultiWindow and Wanam Xposed. I tried playing one of the movies I bought wiht the $50 Samsung cred and it says: "This item expired. Connect to PC and download license."
Anyone else see this and know how to fix?
Thanks!

If you're device status show "custom" you probably won't be able to use Samsung's DRM protected apps. It breaks AllShare Cast also.

Well I did have a "Custom" status, but I used Wanam to trick the system to saying "Official" again. When it said custom, checking for updates would fail. Now that it is tricked it says that the tablet is up to date. So I think that if Hub used that as a gauge it would work. I am worried that it is going deeper than that and checking the Warranty Bit in the bootloader. OR it could be checking to see if another program is available (like Knox) but since I froze it, it's failing.
Thoughts?

I connect to secure networks and have stayed away from rooting my N3 and N10.1-14 because with KNOX I can't take a chance that some flag somewhere in the s/w would be tripped preventing me from connecting and potentially having to replace my device. KNOX hasn't been around for that long and there are tons of threads across multiple forums swearing that "XYZ" method is KNOX safe. Pre-N3/N10.1-14 I'd root my device, clean it up, and then un-root it while still keeping "official" status. Now, who knows?
Since rooting my stock ROM on the Tab S 8.4, I can no longer use the fingerprint scanner to authenticate PayPal. I get a successful read on a scan but the PayPal app disagrees!
I tried re-registering my prints and re-installed both the Play Store version and the Samsung App Store version of PayPal but no joy.
Reading up on some of the Galaxy S5 forums, it seems this is an issue there too. But I wondered if anyone else here had found a fix.
Incidentally, the "Password Box" app works fine with fingerprint unlocking, so it seems to be a rooting issue and PayPal.
Fingerprint scanner/Paypal broken
i have the same issue here and tried the fix posted in galaxy s5 forum but was unsuccessful so i contacted paypal. the following day i got reply from paypal and they said that as of this time only samsung galaxy s5 is supported by such feature. i emailed them back and told them that this is is latest tablet from samsung and it has almost the feature with samsung galaxy s5 particularly on the fingerprint scanner and told them that in the settings there is an option to link fingerprint with paypal so this must be consented/approved by them. i got no reply.

That's interesting to know. Maybe there's hope of getting it working with a later update. I will email them myself and post any useful reply from them here. There is no obvious reason why it should not work on the Tab S series.
fail
I also rooted my tab s, and at first ( the first month after rooting) everything was well. Suddenly tonight, I get all of the error messages telling me the usual swipe faster, swipe slower, and now the option has disappeared entirely! My alt password wont accept my password, therefore I cannot get into or access my $600 tab anymore! I have re booted, I dont know what else to do, it isnt giving me any options.
please help!

you may have to consider "Odin 3.09" in the near future.
SOMEtimes "rooting" defeats various features.
Does it help if you use the option to "hide" root from the system? I think SuperSU has this ability.
I cant get into my system to hide anything!
I dirty flashed rom and it fixed my scanner.
It's been a while since I've gotten a new phone.
I just bought a brand new, stock, unlocked Galaxy S3 i747 (yes, S3). As I was going through the setup screens, it asked if I agreed to let Google Services push and install updates on my phone.
Since I can't seem to move past that screen without agreeing, it looks like I have no option but to agree if I want to use my phone. Is that true? In order to use my phone I have to agree to let Google modify and put stuff on my phone without any further authorization from me?
I've stopped at that screen hoping someone here might show me an alternative.
(I won't be rooting my phone as I think that would quickly take me beyond my technical abilities.)
Thanks... I'd appreciate your help!
why dose android pay pop up everytime i use android beam is there a way to disable it some times I can't even beam what I want because the stupid thing just keeps popping up
My phone's rooted as well so I can't use it
I know that you cannot use Android Pay if you have a rooted device. The application does not allow it and you will have to unroot and perform a Data Factory Reset in order to use Android Pay. Your phone does daily scans to detect if it is rooted and Android Pay picks up on this.

Reviving an old thread....
I've got this problem, and this thread is the best Google result I've found. I don't have android pay installed, but every time I try to pay using a bank app, I get a pop up telling me to install android pay, so can't use the app.
The most frustrating part is I solved this once before, but I had to do a factory reset and I can't remember how I fixed it. ?
Any suggestions?
TIA
Edit it's a ZTE phone, but the same problem described here.

should be around the same location for you but under settings->wireless&network->Tap & pay, if you set use default as "except when another payment app is open
it might help fix the issue.
other note is, just install suhide and call it a day

Thanks
That was it. Unfortunately I didn't get my email notification that you had replied, so finally solved it on my own, and just came back here to reply in case it happened to me a 3rd time, google would give me answer.
But thanks. When I found it I felt so stupid.
And it turns out I have 3 different apps that all are contactless-ready. Who knew?
Edit: It's actually Settings->Device->Tap and pay, but your instructions would have led me to it.
Edit 2: Ironically, the phone has just - I think - died of the problem that drove me to do the previous factory reset
I went to use Samsung Pay and noticed it did not show up at the bottom of the home screen, so went into programs to open it. I got a message saying I needed to update it to continue, but when I tried, got a message saying it was not available. Obviously, blocked on the N7. I'm actually sorry I tried to update, as anything Samsung is risky under the circumstances. I really liked SP, but guess I'll switch over to Android Pay. Any ideas?
Google the apk
Just Google samsung pay apk along with what ever new version of samsung pay you need to update to. Use your phone for the search because you can just down load the updated version directly onto your phone. Once downloaded just find it on your phone and click on it to open it up and follow the directions. It's pretty easy and should get you up and running in about 10 mins or less. I've done it a couple times on my Note 7

Thanks! I'll check that out. I'm always a little reluctant to sideload apps that involve financial stuff. But I'm also reluctant to load anything Samsung now in case they include some kind of kill switch.
