ZE551ML
Seems to keep locking and unlocking itself every few seconds.
Seems to be an issue in the connection between the bottom and top parts of the mobo.
Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks.

it is some issue with bottom PCB and flex cable. put isolation tape under bottom pcb. so it do not connect to metal parts. tight all the screws.
go to setting > asus smart cover untick to disable it. if issue still persists. change sim flex and bottom pcb

Thanks for the reply.
Tried with the isolation tape and it still occurs.
Ordered replacement and I'll wait for it to arrive and then ask again if needed. Thanks

when replacement arrives. first replace only pcb see if works. if not then replace flex. though lot of chances it is flex. but test them both separately so we can rule out which one is culprit. do report back results

Gonna try that to see if it works. Maybe I'll get Lineage on it afterwards if it does or whenever I fix it.
Managed to flippin hard-brick it and I don't get vibration since placing the iso tape even after removing it. FML.
Gonna wait for the mobo and flex cable to arrive then continue.

Hello!
I just finish to "unglued" my digitizer cable on my note 2 ,
Please, just take a look at the picture, maybe can I do something to put it back.
Look like unglued..have you any idea if that flex cable it's glued or soldered ?
Thank you very much.
Wow.. I just did the exact same thing yesterday.. same spot on the cable and everything. I did it when I was replacing the glass.. I've tried taping it back.. and now I've tried gluing it , the touch kinda works but really inconsistent and annoying. I've spent way too much time trying to fix it and think I'm just gonna sell as parts now. What did you end up doing? Any luck getting it reattached? If you were successful please let me know what you did.

For me, was no way to put back this flex cable... and I think its close to impossible to make something good with this display.
I just stored that display ....for don't throw it.
Good luck!
this is a usual ribbon cable. i teared mine replacing the screen... will try to replace it and report back.
maybe it will require light smd oven soldering and that will suck big time. maybe i can just pressure it down somehow. your cases are much better, you still have the original cable and half of it is already soldered making it much easier to solder the rest.

thats not the same part, the part u listed on ebay is for the stylus. U can easily tell its not the same part as shown in the original post. Check out this youtube video at the 20:50 minute mark, it will show u the exact parts and u can tell. Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxgZeb5QytM
Unfortunatly the part the original poster pictured is part of the digitizer and is near impossible to fix once ripped. all ive been able to find online is that ribbon cable being sold with the digitizer itself. If anyone else actually finds the part shown in the original post please do post back.
I have a huge problem, basically I was sick and tired of my black housing for the phone, so I ordered the white one from ebay. I was so happy it came that I forgot to shut down the phone, well during half way of the work, while I was trying to pry it open I remembered and turned it on and it worked I opened it a bit more open and it suddenly went black and since then everything is working except the LCD.
I have no idea whats the problem is the LCD broke or what?
Also when it shut down and me trying to reconnect the LCD flat cable to see if thats the problem I was nervous and did that which you see in the picture. Now my issue is what if I buy a new screen connect it and it doesn't work because the FPC connector?

The connection pins themselves do not look damaged, on the plastic shroud. The socket should work fine.
It's a little hard to make out fine detail in the pic...take a magnifying glass to it and check for cracks or splits in the pins.

Hmm it seems like it goes one small one then longer one, its hard to see from he picture but I think two of the longer ones are missing. And what should be the problem with the LCD because that happened before I damaged the socket.
Between thank you for the fast reply.

Well I don't see any missing pins, but you'll have a better view.
As for you LCD...no idea. Generally it's a good idea to turn everything off before you open electrical equipment. You could have caused a short in the process of opening it live.

Would that be on the motherboard or the LCD, basically should I bother repairing it or just sell it for spare parts thats my issue right now.

If you try to power it on does the vibrate activate...basically does it do everything you'd expect EXCEPT the screen doesn't work or does it do nothing at all?

You might try replacing the LCD and hope you haven't damaged the connector. If you have, a self-repair is unlikely given its size and that of the pins.
Or you dump it and buy a new phone.
Either way it's gonna cost you money. The first is cheaper but may not work.
I think that's your only options.
Yeah I knew from the start it was gonna cost me money, but I wanted the cheapest way out
Thanks a lot for the help I think I am gonna try to fix it. Get some experience while doing it too

Hello guys I have a tmobile s4 that the screen is scratched and it has a small hairline cracked on top. I was wondering if I can take the screen from my Verizon s4 (which I don't need anymore) and put that screen on my tmobile s4 and put the screen from the tmobile s4 to the Verizon s4. Basically can I swap screens with the whole digitizer and all ?
I've replaced my screen / digitizer and there is nothing specific between the two carriers regarding the screen / digitizer. So I would assume that it can be done. The screen / digitizer combo connects to the motherboard via. a ribbon cable which is easily removed. The harder part of the operation is going to be removing the working screen / digitizer from the housing. You may want to consider swapping the motherboards between the two. Either way good luck on the repair.

Yep. The hardware should all be the same (i.e. cameras {front/back}, prox sensor / earphone assembly, USB / home button / menu / back button assembly, etc.). Just be sure to gently lift all your connectors to the motherboard and swap them.

Didn't work the Verizon s4 and the tmo s4 don't match up. Ended up ruining the whole charge port flex. Maybe next time I'm gonna have to ask in multiple forums
There should be no differences between the charging ports on either phone. Sorry you had an issue.

The digitizer were you attach the charging flex were different sizes open one yourself and you will see they don't match up I even tried to attach it as is and it turned on but the cord was hanging there because it's not the same size and I could only got 4G and not lte so now I'm just waiting for the replacement part to come so I can fix it
I have a KGL unit with RK3188 quad core CPU and 1024x600 screen.
I was working with custom ROM (made by Malaysk)
I didn't update anything recently.
Suddenly that morning, the screen is black.
I am able to hear the radio, and Bluetooth calls are being transferred through the unit, but the screen is totally black, zip, nada, nothing at all.
Any ideas what could get wrong?
I've had this happen before also. Do you see any boot logo at all?
Dave
I see nothing at all. Black all over the way.No logo

Did you tried to enter the recovery or it is shows black screen also?
If yes, maybe your display panel is wrong. If you seller ignore your messages, try to check your panel's contact to the board.
Check to see if you can get into recovery. If screen works, turn off lights when in rom. I had issue with auto brightness which was too low. Only way I could fix was to wipe and reinstall and turn off auto brightness.
Just updating... it was a hardware problem.
Flat cable problem + certain transistor.
Thanks for your comments.

The buttons were OK, I was able to listen to radio, switch stations (via the wheel control), and even BT calls went through.
That made me guess that this is a hardware problem, and not software.
and no matter what you did you never got video ? Ive got this same problem but after a hard reset Ill get the video back sometimes.

Actually, I even didn't try to hard reset the unit.
Took it from my technician, and it was working, without any hard reset.
To be precise, I'm going to visit him again tomorrow, since the colors on the screen are a bit on the green side, and a bit smeared.
Not a disaster, but not as it should be.
I guess one of the flat cables inside the unit, is not in its place.

I had a similar issue - would lose screen output, it would go either black or white. Touch screen would still work, and radio/BT as well.
Then I'd disconnect the flat cable and reattach it, and it would work for a couple of days. Final solution (it seems) was to hold the flat cable with tape/hot glue!
Thank you, mine just went out again, it was fine for a month or so after reseating all the ribbon cables in the ZIF connectors, I'll do it again tomorrow and try securing them with some tape.

Hi everyone,
I will explain as fast as possible : I have 2 OnePlus 3. One with a freeze problem (https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/help/strange-issue-op3-t3699715=) and the second one with damaged screen but everthing working. So what if I put the motherboard of the broken screen one in the model with the freeze problem. Do you think it can works ?
Thx for reading ! And sorry for the english.
Watch JerryRigEverything teardown videos and try it and keep us updated I'm curious of the result. It'll probably work because basically what you're going to do is changing the broken screen with a solid one. (Changing motherboard will be about the same i think.)
Yup, this has to work.

It has to work but when I tried to separate the screen Bloc with the metal case it was very very hard, I used too much power and broken the screen... That was crazy.
But I have to work.

I watched his video too, for me it was a LOT more resistant.
And finally I bought another phone (still OP3) and I'm still using it.
I tried to open the old phone again and I managed to do it using the jack connector, I used a screwdriver and levered in the jack connector (and the jack connector is still working).
