Nougat battery/hour - Nougat vs Marshmallow - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hello guys.
From the beggining. I'm using the latest OOS ROM. Greenify + aggresive doze + AKT + Elemental X.
Still I'm getting about 1%/hour, while the phone isn't used. Most apps are hibernated.
On Marshmallow I had about 0.2%/hour or even less...
Should I switch back to MM?

What AKT profile are you using?

AKT has nothing to do with this.
Can you install Better battery stats? This will help a lot..

What we need is an idle dump. Charge the phone to 100% and leave it idle for 6+ hours. Then unlock the phone and immediately open BBS and save the dump "charged to current" and post it here or in the BBS thread. Ensure that the screen on time is less than a minute.
For me also N was draining more battery than MM. After going back, I am happy now.

Best Battery Saving ROM/Mod/Anything?

I am on OOS 3.2.7 Stock Root Xposed.
By the time passes, the battery performance is getting fu**ed up. Its losing around 10% overnight with everything off. Earlier it was less than 5%.
Whats the best ROM/Mod/any way to improve battery performance? Even though we have Dash Charging, There is no point charging phone twice a day with moderate usage.
Use force doze? Maybe a CPU profile? Greenify? Amplify? Have you checked your wakelocks?
PowerNap, Amplify, Greenify, ForceDoze. These are the best, they helped me a lot... Also, try using the HawkPepper profile :good:

Force Doze can be used with xposed, u don't need a custom kernal for a CPU profile but I recommend it to you, anyways try and see what happends.
I am using FreedomOS with ElementalX kernel (without any profiles atm).
Used to get SoT around 3-3.5 hrs prior to flashing the ElementalX kernel, now I almost consistently get 4.5-5 Hrs SoT.
I have noticed a bit of noticeable lag while gaming but its an acceptable tradeoff for me. The kernel has some profiles that you can use with their app - I have heard people getting crazy SoTs using them.

Thanks. I just installed Force Doze. I will see how it goes.
I dont like putting all my social apps frozen though. I had RedMi Note 3G before this with same 3K battery. It used to last 1.5-2 days easily. OP3 is way better only apart the battery and Camera issues.
Thanks again!

Hmmm. I am also thinking of switching kernel. Either Elemental or Buffela. Have you tried that one?

No, sadly I haven't yet tried Boeffla. Yup sure go ahead, I have coupled it with Naptime by Francisco Franco to keep apps from causing wakelocks. The deep-sleep time is almost a flat line thanks to this app.

Power saving is more power consuming. Leave it default and it gives the better battery backup

Using app for battery itself eats up lot of battery. better to stay away from them, phone itself optimise to best condition as per usage.

I suggest apps like Greenify (or HEBF), LSpeed mod and a general optimization of settings by Android menu

Best battery rom?

What's in your opinion the best rom for daily and battery use
Currently using LineageOS. I think this one is good. 1.3%/hr standby drain with Wi-Fi.
At least for 0430 build.
I think battery and performance are the main point of most people. I use in my MI6 the MIUIPRO 9.5.7.0 stable. after having tried lineageOS, miui-globe. stable and unofficial. for mi6 the stable miuipro sure enough battery, if it were not whatsapp would last a 3 days.
Not an oreo-miui rom that's for sure. I am using epic rom 7.12.21. It gives pretty good battery life and cool temp(almost doesn't even get warm when charging).
Lineage OS 15.1, and you can add kernel manager, naptime app and servicely app and get this:
MIUI is fast but has a lot of standby drain.

With kernel manager I have underclocked cpu to 2 GHz max , with servicely app I have put apps in standby when screen is off, and I don't use 4g speed internet, but 3g, when you add together everything... Naptime alone doesn't do much. You have my settings in this subject post, just read all posts from beginning, there ain't much to read.

There may be apps running in the background. Find out about them. See which app is consuming max battery. If possible, clean flash a ROM like bootleggers and flash bfr kernel under clocked. The download link is available in the bootleggers thread.

Kindly share few basic information with your question.
Which ROM
Which baseband
Which kerñel
How many sim card
Which is your primary network
Your usage patterns (games or social or video, or like 4G or WiFi)
Age of Phone (actually age of your battery)
What is your SOT and standby (how often do you need to charge?)
Etc..
Usually battery monitoring apps like AccuBattery can give you good idea on what is using how much battery !!

Upgraded to Android 10, garbage battery life

Hi,
I flashed stock android 10 image after it was released a few days ago and the battery life is GARBAGE. Any ideas on how to fix this? I know adaptive means it should get better after a few days, but I don't really see this.
Battery life for me is pretty horrible, I can't get 2 hours of screen time doing simple things like taking photos, reading the news and email and some book reading. I don't even play games, I would say processing of HDR photos is the most intense thing I've done. I updated on Tuesday and battery life has not improved.
I had the same terrible battery experience with android 10 stock until I changed kernels. Assuming you are rooted, you can install Ex Kernel Manager, then go to the ElementalX tab and click to check for update and it will give you the option to download and flash Elemental X v. 5.05 for pixel xl android 10. It will flash the new kernel for you and then ask if you would like to reboot. Once you reboot you can change governors and many kernel settings. Currently I am at 54% with over 3hrs screen on time and average about 15 hours per charge with 6 or more hours screen on time. This is at least double what I was getting on the stock kernel.

Actually, even if I do apply on boot, is resetting governor to sched. Hmm
I don't see a real battery difference switching to powersave, just a performance difference.
I didn't actually switch the kernel, though. That's with the included kernel.
The battery life really is awful. Any ideas?
Changed to Elemental.
Set governors to Elemental.
NO improvement in battery.

here are my settings on Elemental. *note under cpu, I have to manually disable perfd after every reboot as the setting doesn't stick but everything else where the apply on reboot is highlighted works automatically. Battery is noticibly better with perfd and core control disabled.

That's awesome! but, does it have significant impact on performance compared to stock kernel? I'd like to balance out performance and battery life.
I wiped the phone and installed 10.
No improvement with battery.
Also, now I have the problem of my messaging and email apps don't update unless I manually open them. and sensor seems to be messed up to where if you tap twice on phone, you don't see clock, and picking up phone doesn't show notifications, despite these options being turned on. I know there is a bug on this.
For what it's worth, I was on the Q betas, and battery life was similar to what I was getting on pie. Then once the official update installed, battery went to garbage even after several days. I ended up downgrading to Oreo leaving the bootloader unlocked, but installing elemental x kernel so that I'd still pass safety net. I had heard before that Oreo had better battery life than pie.
Things improved after that, but I know that a downgrade like this won't be an option for most people.
Edit: also should mention that I've underclocked the CPU using the installer for the ex kernel which has also given me a slight boost in battery life. Don't really notice any performance difference for my usage.

I used ex kernel manager to flash it and then rebooted but it's a paid app. for a free app you could try flashify which is an app that can flash kernels and recoveries. I haven't used it in a long time to flash a kernel so I make no guarantees but it has worked well for me in the past.
How much did you underclock? I went back to 8.1 and battery life is much improved.
Stock seems fine to me 6hr sot on lte off charger for 17 hr. But did replace battery a year ago

Hey, I assume you're asking me. I underclocked to 1440 for the small cores (down from 1593), and 1900 for the big cores (down from stock 2150). The aroma installer has a few values to choose from, so you can try experimenting a bit. The values I used represent about a 10% drop from stock speeds.

The biggest battery drain I have is keeping WiFi on. So I created some tasker profiles to turn off WiFi 2 minutes after the screen goes off, and back on when the screen goes on. It also only turns off if it's not plugged in. Still not perfect, but works well enough for me.
