If the file is stored on the external SD Card, it can't be found by twrp because sdcards couldn't mount on the z play.

If you are using as shared storage your phone will have defaulted the file to the SD card in shared storage most goes to the SD card I had the same problem after getting SD back to swappable all is good

I don't want to lose my files though? What can I do other than format it?

Formatting it is the only thing that might be able to revive it. To backup, download Solid Explorer, turn your phone to landscape mode (you can see two panels in landscape and only one in portrait), navigate in one of the panels to your ext. SD and in the other panel your internal SD. Copy all the stuff you want to keep from your internal SD to your external SD and then format it.

If he cannot access the internal storage then trying to use Solid Explorer is useless.
Try to dump the partition to the external SD (use an external SD card larger than the internal memory):
dd if=/devices/platform/msm_sdcc.1/mmc_host/mmc0/mmc0 of=/storage/sdcard1/full_dump_internal_sd
You might be able to use a linux box to check the filesystem - the file on external storage named full_dump_internal_sd (should be ext4 formatted as far as I know).

So I just put that into terminal?
Yes, but make sure that you have enough room on the external SD card to be able to backup the data.

[Q] TWRP defaults to wrong external sd path

Ok first of all I'm using dandroids latest rom and I recently installed the latest version of TWRP because Clockworkmod would not work with exfat and I read that TWRP would. So when I tried to do a backup with TWRP to my 64gb microsd card, it detected my external sd card as /storage/emulated/0 when it should really be /storage/extsdcard. Because it detected the wrong path it made a backup on my internal drive. When I use TWRP's file manager, I can navigate to the external sd path just fine and see all my files on my micro sdcard. When I click on the internal sd card button within the file manager the path shows simply sdcard. When I click on the externalsd button it shows /storage/emulated/0. How can I point the external sd to /storage/extsdcard instead of /storage/emulated/0?
Any help would be appreciated.

Ok so I guess when I boot into recovery, I can choose the external sd card but not straight from the app icon. Its weird, but it works. I just have to boot to recovery first.
What App are you referring to ?
Try Nandroid manager to mange your Backups.

TWRP is what I was talking about. works great from recovery but not so much from within android. Maybe its just the Rom I'm running or something. I was more concerned with pointing recovery at my micro sd location where my nandroid backups are saved.
Can you Re-flash latest TWRP version for your Device ?

SD Card Fix questions

I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2672393 , and where it says:
"Make sure file tmo_kk_extsd_fix.zip is in your Internal SD Card (Phone's Internal Memory < < < DO NOT UNZIP THIS FILE, SIMPLY COPY AND PASTE IT IN YOUR PHONE"
My questions are:
How do I get it to my internal SD Card - I'm assuming I have to flash it in Odin, since you can't just copy/paste thru the phone via the PC?
Do I have to format the card first?
I have twrp, do i need PHILZ recovery?
I am rooted and using Wicked 4.4.2

Why can't you copy and paste from the comp? I can. That or take your SD card out and use an adapter.

Oh okay. So you're saying there's nothing wrong with taking a micro sd reader and copying it that way? I thought I would have to format it first, but if not that's great

Okay I just powered off the phone and connected it to the PC and I definitely can not copy and paste files to it, let alone the SD card
> How do I get it to my internal SD Card
If you are on the device downloading then it will go to '/storage/emulated/0/Download'. '0' is the internal SD card. Just copy it up one directory so it will be at the top level of the SD card.
If it is on your PC you can put it there through MTP -- the Windows directory 'N900T/Phone' -- or through ADB. ADB requires that it is enabled on the device in 'Settings-->Developer Options' (search 'enable developer options'). Then on the PC in a command prompt window:
adb push "whatever the file is" /storage/emulated/0
Then you boot into TWRP, hit the button 'Install', explore to the file you put on the SD card. After seeing the nice explorer in TWRP you'll know that you could have saved the zip just about anywhere, like the Download directory.

Sorry if Im being super thick, but when you say "internal SD card" do you mean the internal storage, and not the Micro SD card? Because if I put the Micro SD card in the GN3 it says "blank SD card". After downloading the file and going to TWRP my options of select storage are:
Internal Storage (19580MB)
Micro SDcard (0MB)
USB Storage (0MB)
I can only select internal storage. So should I just install it from internal storage?

Yes.
Internal Storage (19580MB)
AKA: SDCARD, internal sdcard, '/sdcard', fixed sdcard, non-removable sdcard , external sdcard .
Micro SDcard (0MB)
AKA: Removable sdcard, external sdcard.
Note that both have 'external sdcard'. Originally 'sdcard' was for the phone (not on your list) and they added a fixed 'external sdcard' for shared storage and the 'sdcard' was known as an internal sdcard. Then when they added a removable sdcard the term 'external sdcard' began to cause confusion. People thought of the removable sdcard as an external sdcard, so the external sdcard was thought to be the internal sdcard.
The ability exists for there to be multiple removable sdcards so be prepared for more confusion.

I did it then rebooted. Now I get an endless loop of Blank Card/Mount/Format/Erasing , and then it goes right back to blank/unmounted. Brand New Card too.

At this point you should go back to where you got the fix and report the problem. I don't have Android 4.4++ so I can't help.

Formatted internal storage and TWRP is not showing external sdcard

I rooted and unlocked my device using Freegee and installed TWRP 2.6.3.0.then i copied the rom zip to external sd card and booted in to recovery.then i advanced format to format everything including internal storage, now i don't have any rom and TWRP is not showing my external sd card which still has rom file.
I inserted that sd card in to my another phone(HTC explorer) and and booted in to TWRP recovery and there recovery detects my card but not when i insert it in to OGP.
Now i don't have any ROM ,please somebody tell me how to mount SDcard or how to push file to the internal storage.
thank you.
EDITk fixed.moved file to internal using ADB and it worked.still i don't understand why it won't detect my external SD card.thank you.
I have the same problem

Yes, I think it is an security mechanism, by the same but that's not really a problem or? You can also app move to the internal storage but you can't see them.
