Hi I just found my old phone and wanted to restore it. I honestly have no clue about this kind of procedures so I'll ask you to please be patient. I've been doing some research but wasn't really successful.
When I turn on the phone I get
*** UNLOCKED ***
MARVEL PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.09.0099
MICROP-0451
RADIO-7.57.39.10M

No signs of the operating system is shown whatsoever. There is a list of options:
BOOTLOADER
REBOOT
REBOOT BOOTLOADER
POWER DOWN
I tried all of them but didn't get anything exiting. When I get to BOOTLOADER some screens are shown and then it says
Loading image [PG76IMG]
or something like that and asks "Do you want to start update". Just for the heck of it I pushed no and then it asked me to reboot. Then when I went to Bootloader again it showed the same thing but this time I pushed yes. It did some updating and then it asked me to reboot again but then the same thing happened.
How can I get past this screen? Does it even matter that I do? How can I install Android on the phone?
Thank you.
I think you don't have a recovery installed. Search for a recovery like CWM or TWRP in the forums and follow the instructons. By the way what did you do with the phone last time???

Hi thank you for your answer. I actually was looking for recoveries as suggested in another post but I'm unable to mount the phone on LInux or Windows when it is on fastboot. I have seen that many people can do this when they get into Recovery but I can't. Any hints on that?

I got this phone like a year ago and it wasn't working. Basically it was showing me the screen with the three Android logos and wouldn't start. I remember I tried some stuff I found on this blog to get a new OS on it but I didn't have much time back then as I was having finals. I remember I got the phone blocked and it said S-ON and was told how I needed to unlock it and turn it to S-OFF.
You don't have to mount it in fastboot you just have to take it to fastboot mode and connect to your PC and use the fastboot utility that comes with adb. However if fastboot does not work try to flash the recovery through SD card.....take your sd card connect to PC and delete the PG76IMG.zip that's there.....then download the flashable recovery zip and rename to PG76IMG.zip place it on SD and connect in your phone and again go to bootloader where it asks to apply update. Update it, turn off, delete or rename the PG76IMG.zip from SD and boot.......see if it can boot into recovery....or go to bootloader and select recovery.......for the recovery I will suggest TWRP (google for TWRP wildfire s) and download zip from there.
For the last two days I tried to revert my HTC One V back to stock android. As in, the way I got it when I first booted it up. I experienced that this progress was pretty difficult. Maybe this was because I was used to the AOSP niceness of Google's LG NExus 4 or because HTC made it very hard to say the least to downgrade/upgrade to their own stock ROM.
I may not have the original sources for all files because I deleted some original .zip files and only have the extracted files.
First off, I wouldn't do any of this if you have important files on your device, I wiped everything from my phone a dozen of times in the process and it didn't care because I didn't had any important files on their.
Alright, so what we want to achieve is to get to the latest version of HTC's RUU version "2.22.401.7". The RUU I could find was "2.22.401.1" so we're gonna have to d/l some OTA's later on via our device if everything is set up.
So obviously everyone who is trying to revert back has somewhere unlocked their bootloader by doing
fastboot oem get_identifier_token
and
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
Please remember this: ANY RUU will fail every single time if your device is LOCKED. It will ONLY work if it's unlocked or relocked.
So first off what we gonna have to do is relock/unlock our device. You can relock your device by going into fastboot[1] mode and running the following command:
fastboot oem lock
Myself have expierenced an error that told me it "FAILED". Please reboot your bootload:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
And check the locked status at the top. If it says "RELOCKED", succes! If it didn't, retry the command above.
Next, we're relocked so we can run the RUU. Please look at the text file at the RUU source [2] for the download links. In this .zip file are the files inside the RUU wizard. You can run the wizard by executing "ARUWizard.exe" and you can view the contents of the actual ROM in "rom.zip extracted" and you can find the original ROM in "rom.zip". Since these are the files the wizard will be using (except rom.zip extracted folder) please do not touch them.
Alright, so we've got the extracted files of the RUU and we're ready to update. Please boot your phone in fastboot mode and connect it to your computer via USB. Now run the "ARUWizard.exe" file and let it update. I couldn't think of a situation where this could go wrong, so please ask below if you face any problems.
The wizard will flash stock radio, recovery andsystem.img (the actual ROM you all know) so by doing this you lose your custom revovery.
When your phone boots up you've gotta go through 3-4 updates till it's on "2.22.401.7".
I recommend not flashing a custom recovery right away because when you install/download OTA updates it isn't able to flash it right. In the meantime if you want root[3] use this command:
adb install -s supersu.apk
When you're on the latest version you have to unlock your bootloader, otherwise you cannot flash a custom recovery or kernel or whatever. You can do this via HTC[4]. I think there are enough guides on how to do this, but in short:
- create an account with an legitimate email address
- Select "all other supported devices" from the list
- follow on screen instructions.
Seriously everything is on there, HTC made it really easy.
If you want to install a custom recovery I recommend using TWRP[5]. Please flash TWRP by booting into fastboot and running the following command:
fastboot flash recovery twrp_recovery.img
Troubleshooting
There isn't really a lot that can go wrong if you do this. But when you're stuck on a screen or you think your device is "bricked" or stuck in a bootloop do these things:
- First off, hold the power and volume down button till the device goes down. If it's down, release the buttons and then hold the same buttons again till you're in bootloader
If that doesn't work do either of these commands (make sure your device is connected via USB, hehe)
Make sure fastboot and/or adb is working first:
fastboot devices
adb devices
If fastboot is working:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
If ADB is working:
adb reboot bootloader
adb reboot recovery
If you have any questions, please ask me. I did a dozen of things these two days, I may forgotten something because I did a crapload of things all at once.
Cheers!

tl;dr
unlock bootloader -> run RUU -> done
This is great and all, but is this for the PRIMO-C or U? US version? etc... etc..
I have a barely functioning M8 and I could really do with some help.
A friend gave me his M8 a few weeks ago, the M8 would not boot. It was getting stuck on the boot animation. From what I could tell, I think the device had been interrupted during an update.
The M8 is Europe model, with MM installed. Bootloader was unlocked at HTC.com but is still S-ON. CID is HTC__001 and MID is 0P6B10000
I installed a custom recovery and flashed the latest ARHD. Finally the device booted fine and showed the correct software/baseband etc. in hboot and settings/about phone. Made test calls etc. it worked fine.
A couple of weeks later the guy is back to me saying the phone suddenly stopped sending/receiving signals, wifi no longer turns on and the phone will not acknowledge any SIM that is inserted.
First look shows the baseband, in settings/about phone, now shows "unknown". But booting to the hboot shows the correct radio version.
I went searching XDA/the internet for the MM radio.img but was never able to find it.
So next I looked for the Europe MM RUU, I needed to ensure that the radio was repaired, which I apparently found at this url:
Code:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24369303960687057
it has a file called 0P6BIMG_M8_UL_M60_SENSE70_MR_HTC_Europe_6.12.401.4_Radio_1.29.214500021.12G_20.72.4196t.01_release_464360_signed.zip
Now I have come across several XDA threads that say this file show be renamed to 0P6BIMG.zip put it on the root of the SD card and then boot to hboot where it will automatically find and install it. But with this file, when doing that it says image fail press power to reboot and never installs the file.
Next I came across an XDA thread that said I need to boot the phone into RUU mode and use htc_fastboot to flash the file, having renamed it to RUU.zip. but despite this being a 1.6Gb file it is detected as 53Mb by fastboot and again fails saying the file is corrupt.
I downloaded the file several times and no matter which method I us, it is the same result it will not flash the RUU. I have found a different hoster with the same file, same end result.
I need to fix this poor M8 and at this point I am out of ideas. Please, if any one can offer some advice on fixing this thing, I would appreciate it.
1. Is the bootloader unlocked when you flash the RUU.zip ? It needs a relocked bootloader - command : fastboot oem lock
2. It needs RUU mode to run the RUU.zip - command : fastboot oem rebootRUU
Maybe this will help : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64926626&postcount=6

Many thanks for the response.
1) how do I unlock the bootloader once it has been relocked? I believe it is problematic so I have thus far avoided relocking.
2) Yes, the phone was in RUU mode, as my post explained. It had the silver HTC on the screen.
I have already followed that guide and it wasn't successful. I am assuming due to the unlocked bootloader. But as I explained the PC only uploaded 53Mb of a 1.6Gb RUU to the phone, I don't know if that is due to the unlocked bootloader or not.
Do I have any other options to repair the radio (and any other partitions without relocking the bootloader and flashing an RUU ?
Kind regards
A S-On device must have a locked or relocked bootloader in order to install RUU or firmware.zip
Only on S-Off device you don't need to relock bootloader.
To re unlock the bootloader, just fastboot flash the Unlock_code.bin that you can get from htcdev.com
command - fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
You also can try to flash a full signed firmware.zip instead of RUU.zip to see whether that will fix your problem... but still require a relocked bootloader on S-On device. (RUU.zip is highly recommended)
Help please HTC M9 boot into bootloader only can access to download & recovery modes
Dear there

Im not quite sure what you mean. Please clarify.
Are you saying:
1, that you went to the bootloader and tried to reboot but it only reboots back to the bootloader and won't go to the os?.
OR
2, The phone rebooted on its own accord and is now only able to boot into bootloader, download or recovery?.

i have been tried to reboot the phone becuse feel that it is slow and when its reboot the phone just enter to bootloader menu (which i can go to download mode or recovery mode from it ) now i can boot only in bootloader mode
thank you in advance
Put your phone into download mode and connect it to a pc. Download htc_fastboot.exe and from its directory in cmd type "fastboot getvar all".
Post the result here but remember to omit your IMEI from the result before posting (if applicable).

I'm sorry, seems that I posted in the wrong section. Could someone move the discussion in the correct section, please?
Does "fastboot getvar all" work?. Try fastboot.exe AND htc_fastboot.exe.
You need to know exactly your firmware version and flash that.
90 hboot usually means to flash again but I'm yet to see an incident where that actually works.
The fact that data is 0mb says to me that your nand has died. Only htc can recover it.
