Hello,
my HTC 10 has CID 034. I kept S-ON, unlocked bootloader, installed TWRP, then LineageOS 14.1.
Then I wanted to revert back to stock. I tried several things, among them I think I downloaded file from this thread - RUU Zip (Stock Signed) - 1.90.401.5 and tried flashing with "fastboot oem rebootRUU" + "fastboot flash zip firmware.zip", but received errors and gave up. Now I think it was lower version (1.90.401.5) then I should have tried to flash (in download mode I saw 2.41.401.4).
Later I found official RUU.exe in this thread, flashing goes without problems, but when I reboot to bootloader, it still shows "System status: Modified".
Does anyone have any suggestions what I should do to return to status "Official" ?
Thank you in advance.

[GUIDE] Safely set your bootloader back to "LOCKED" from "UNLOCKED" or "RELOCKED"
Read this. S-off should clear system status. RUU could never do that on HTC phones
Thank you for your reply.
So, you're saying I should turn the phone into S-OFF state and software status will be Official after I reflash with RUU? I'm sorry I'm new at this and it isn't very clear to me from the thread.
Thank you.

It does that when you have re-locked the bootloader with a custom ROM or even a rooted stock ROM I think.
that might be something like on the Samsung phones with the triangle and exclamation point. i guess it's a double notice for HTC returns to know it was unlocked.

You need to do the process of going back to completely stock.
Flash stock recovery, then re-lock bootloader, then flash the RUU you are currently on. Cannot be an older version as Hboot changed. At least from 1.26 to 1.28 base.
Or if you want to just be able to boot again, you need to unlock bootloader again

I ran into this problem when I tried flashing the 1.29 OTA update today. The device would boot directly into hboot with RELOCKED and SECURITY WARNING at the top, and the only way to render it usable was to re-unlock the bootloader.
After flashing the boot image (I'd dumped a copy the day I got my phone), it booted normally, although it still said RELOCKED in hboot. If I remember correctly, the boot image can be extracted from the appropriate RUU, and I've also uploaded the copy I had (from 1.28.720.10) here: dl [dot] dropbox [dot] com/u/24520454/stockboot.img
Trying to return to complete T-mobile stock, I was previously on ARHD,
1.I flashed the Odex ROM,
2.Sideloaded the T-mobile Firmware update, that updated the hboot, radio, recovery ect. *Unrooted* at this step.
3. Ran the Official T-mobile RUU
4. Now I am stuck at Trying to get S-On, and then relock the bootloader. I see both options here in the All in one. The option for s-on gave a huge warning, about having the stock RUU, and Hboot. Any assurance in just pressing the button without messing up anything? If I get S-on, I then can just Relock the bootloader correct?
I've asked here in the thread that has the all in one. 19 hours ago with NO help.

Hey guys, I know there's a crazy amount of unrooting threads here and everywhere else on the internet, but the more I search the more confused I get. So here's my short situation and my few questions:
Got a T-mobile M8, rooted, S-On, Unlocked, Running S.ROM. I'm trying to do the Tmobile JUMP thing to get the new HTC 10, so I'm trying to unroot this as much as possible. I've found at least 7 different ways with different outcomes on how to do this, so here are my questions:
-I keep reading you can just flash the RUU with no other prerequisites and it'll take your phone back to stock (except for the "Relocked" status). Is this true?
-Follow up to previous question: has anyone had any experience with returning a Relocked phone to Tmobile for their JUMP plan? (Not warranty exchange, I feel they're more strict with that)
-Is the only way to change the Relocked status to Locked by going S-Off with Sunshine and doing all of the 8923479324 steps in order to erase all of the tampered flags?
-What is the BEST method with the BEST outcome to go back to full stock on the M8?
Thanks in advance!

The statement "no other prerequisites" is not specific enough. If you mean stock ROM and/or stock recovery (which folks sometimes think is needed to RUU), its true that neither are needed in order to RUU.
There are however some prerequisites:
1) PC required. Win7 and USB 2.0 for the best compatibility with RUU.
2) RUU needs to be intended for your version (CID and MID)
3) RUU version needs to be greater or equal to main version on the phone (this requirement is bypassed with s-off)
4) Relocked or locked bootloaded (this requirement also bypassed with s-off)

T-Mob is not my carrier, and I know nothing of their Jump program. But in most cases, the best bet with returning a phone is to RUU to stock, and make the bootloader LOCKED. Return to s-on (after s-off) is probably not needed.
Thanks for the info! I guess I'll be getting sunshine then and try to follow all of these guides. So if I S-off with sunshine, as long as I check my CID and MID (I got the RUU from the HTC website, but I'll double check it anyways), I can flash that and return to stock. And afterwards I can find a guide on how to reset the tampered flags and the Locked status?

Yes, that is what I would suggest. Guide on how to make it LOCKED and remove TAMPERED:

How I went back to stock
I was rooted and running custom ROMS, but when MM came out I wanted to make sure that my firmware/radio was updated. So for me this is what I did
- first I am s-on
- When I unlocked the bootloader, just before I installed TWRP, I made a copy of the recovery. Also I backed up my stock ROM. Both I kept
So to restore:
- I re-installed via TWRP, the stock ROM, and made sure that I didn't root it
- I re-installed the stock recovery
- rebooted and phone saw the MM upgrade and proceeded to upgrade.
If you don't have the recovery/stock ROM you will need to remember what version of android you were on when you overwrote the recovery with TWRP. If your firmware + recovery + OS do not match the update won't work.

Awesome, got my phone S-Off. I tried installing the RUU from the HTC website but I got an error and it failed, saying something about I'm using the wrong RUU. This is my CID and MID:
MID: 0P6B13000
CID: T-MOB010
I used this link to get my RUU:
http://www.htc.com/us/support/rom-downloads.html#tmobile
Am I doing something wrong?

What error number? If 155 or 159, you can't RUU from LP to MM (this is a new requirement they added with MM). You either need to flash the 6.20.531.5 full stock firmware from here, then run the RUU again. Or run the T-Mobile LP RUU.
My HTC m8 is not getting updated and is showing the following message

PS: I have tried to relock the bootloader via downlaoding fastboot_adb and using the following commands (although I have never installed custom ROM on my phone).
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
fastboot reboot
I would like to return to the original HTc setting and update to Android 5.0 or whatever the latest update is available .
I don't understand what you are trying to accomplish with those commands.
1) Relocking the bootloader isn't necessary for OTA updates (although is needed for RUU). Relocked bootloader may make moving forward more difficult (depending on what solutions you try).
2) SuperCID 1111111 also isn't going to help your issue (so I don't know why you are trying to do it), and you can't do it with s-on.
3) Even if you haven't installed a custom ROM, its coming up as MODIFIED probably due to being rooted. You need to restore the stock ROM 1.80.720.1 (unrooting isn't enough) and stock recovery, to OTA. Alternately, you need the 1.80.720.1 RUU. I'm not too familiar with your variant, but in general, the steps I've described is what you need to do.
Read more, and see what you can learn about your variant. Because, it doesn't see like you have researched properly yet.

As @redpoint73 said, you make it harder when you relocked the bootloader.
Can you unlock it again ? If yes, you can do the following :
1. Install TWRP for M8 Eye - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62030698&postcount=144
2. Restore the 1.80.720.1 non-rooted nandroid backup
3. Install 4.30.720.4 stock recovery.img (I don't have 1.80.720.1 recovery.img)
4. Reboot then do multiple OTA up to the latest Marshmallow
Item 2 & 3 and How-To, check my thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
I remember there's a RUU zip for your device ... have to recheck, will advise you tomorrow if it is needed.
Can't seem to find any into on relocking the bootloader with S-on
other than HTC has disabled the oem lock in 7.0
So is there anyway I can downgrade to with a TWRP backup, flash a stock recovery file relock the bootloader and then run the latest RUU to update everything or do I need S-off to downgrade the bootloader to relock?
It's not for a warranty claim, I just want to use Android pay since it works with my bank now.
I'm assuming a ***RELOCKED*** flag would pass it's security check?
I don't have sunshine since I never went S-off.

You may want to look into flashing a custom kernel, like ElementalX. Hides the bootloader unlocked status from safetynet. You'd also need to have an untouched system partition as well for Android Pay to work.
You can simply relock the bootloader, no need to downgrade. But you will have to flash a RUU >= your current version. Done it several times, it works
The command world be "fastboot oem lock". Phone needs to be in download mode, obviously...
Relock flag passes safetynet, yes.

You sure?
I've tried it 3 times with a 2.41 RUU the command does what it should, but reboot still shows unlocked.

Enable OEM unlocking option in developer options from settings. Then the command.
A breadcrumb for anybody on the same trail...
If your bootloader status is still "unlocked" even after flashing a stock RUU and passing a seemingly successful "fastboot oem lock", try removing your SD card and "fastboot oem lock" again. After a load of messing around this immediately allowed me to gain "Relocked".
I loved my HTC10 in it's heyday but I'm so over all these HTC quirks
