I did some debating and accidentally deleted the stock keyboard. Could anyone send me the stock keyboard APK? I have root so I can make it a system app.
Thanks!!!

the Stock keyboard is Gboard, just get it from the play store.
You, one does not need root to copy system apps.
Upload here is not a 3rd graders challenge
Gboard is the stock keyboard? It can get pretty laggy at times... Any fix for that?

Better but maybe laggy in some apps. It is app you are using it in, usually.
Do not touch "make it mine", very laggy if you do.
Too much overhead
SwiftKey keyboard is my go to. I like it much better than Gboard.

I tried it and it did the same lag. Not sure what causes it.
Is it related to N? I don't remember having it in MM

Has anyone gotten a hold of the new swype for the Nexus S?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=SNNoEgY5emg
It looks nice and the new features are pretty cool.
did you try to get it through http://sprint.swype.com/android/get/ yet?
Yeah it didn't work
how far did you get with it? because you need to uninstall the stock swype app before attempting to install. I haven't tried to install this one but I assume it's similar to installing swype beta, which I have had success with.

I tried uninstalling it and everything but you just get stuck with the original swype, the ugly one from the Evo and what not. Thankfully I backed up the samsung swype

That's because the swype installer installs the swype for the device its on.... you need to get the actual swype.apk from the nexus s forums lol.... I tried to do it to but I realized it wasn't gonna work after reading the swype instructions......

That's probably it. But the thing which I'm curious about is what will happen once we switch our build.prop back.

We'll u would need the build.prop from an ns4g on ur comp or sdcard...(probably have to download rom) and open both in text edit. It will probably be the lines before # end build properties.
Should look like this:
ro.build.description=SPH-D700-user 2.2.1 FROYO EC05 release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=sprint/SPH-D700/SPH-D700/SPH-D700:2.2.1/FROYO/EC05:user/release-keys
Copy/paste the same lines from the ns4g build.prop.
Here is one i modified from the EH06 build.prop...
I am making a nandroid backup now before i try it out.
If anyone else wants to try it here it is.
From what I read on nexus s forums they check carrier also somehow
But since most if us are on sprint were good

Did you get it to work? Swype thinks I have a Nexus S but I still remain having the regular beta version.
I just installed the new swype on my gf's nexus s 4g and it looks nice but she wont let me root her phone so I can't pull the swype apk out :/

This is exactly why I wish I had an upgrade. I was gonna take advantage of the free nexus deal and use it as my little Root toy and keep the Epic as my actual phone.
google it... i went to google and type in swype and you can go to their website and get it, looks pretty good to

Did not work for me with my build prop edit... you suggestion here will just get you the beta ... not the sprint version.
P.S even if a user of a nexus S 4g shared the APK it would not work as it licenses it per device...
So I tried looking for a solution and so far havent found anything
I like stock touchwiz (so far) mostly because of the Motion options Samsung introduced (AOKP and CM9 have yet to implement these)
I really liked the stock messaging app from ICS (coming from a Galaxy Nexus) and was wondering if there is a way of getting it on the S3
I tried pushing the stock "mms.apk" to the /system/app folder but it keep saying there is a conflict and cannot install (installing the stock gallery.apk worked though)
The S3 messaging app is called "Secmms.apk" , but even if i rename that and try installing the stock mms.apk it just said the install failed
Does anyone have any clue on how to install the stock ICS messaging app?
Thanks in advance!

BTW, if you want the calendar (ICS version) let me know. It works too!!!
Thanks for posting that. Worked perfectly over here.
Any chance of getting the stock contacts app or will that take more effort than it's worth?
Now that the issue is solved, can someone upload the vanilla apk for the gallery please
And yeah, calendar would be nice too.

hey rumz82
can you share ICS calendar?
can someone post the ics msg app screenshot...? i want to try it too...
Contacts is part of the dialler so you'll get into a mess if you try to change that, I did. I also changed the keyboard by putting in the latinIME.apk and then switching to it as the default input method. I find the stock keyboard quite unreliable.
If you use the CM gallery, as already posted, you can set the background screen image to be scrollable at the right resolution.

thanks for tweeting suroot!
I'm referring to the big circle with the sms icon that appears on the right center of the lockscreen that we used to get then a new sms arrives - then we drag it from the left to the right to open the sms application, that way we don't have to sacrifice one of the 4 shortcut slots for sms app
that's the one I was referring to, and it's gone now!

Thanks for that but I am having trouble replacing the Email (Exchange) app from my stock rooted S3.
Do you have to have a deoxed ROM to replace the Email app for the stock one?
I cannot replace email.apk as there is simply none in the ROM, only an Exchange.apk
Hi. I know this may be too much or even stupid but can someone edit the JB 4.2 keyboard to make the keys larger? Or is there a third party app for that? It would really be nice to have the option to change the size of the keys. Thanks

nope, every "go" thing could could be installed on it's own. you could have go sms/go launcher/go keyboard/go contacts/go locker and more go stuff every one on it's own(i hate them all lol)
and to the OP
why do you need bigger buttons anyway??? try official swype from it's website it is good a little bigger than the official ics keyboard and a very accurate swyping! i really hate it doesn't swype swear words but i could still type them lool
SwiftKey keyboard is very useful try it

yes that would be a great app, but i think i can't download apps from google play in iran and i haven't found it on other markets yet besides, i prefer to fix the problem on my own when you use other apps to fix, they usually add new bugs thanks
