I know i need to pay for sunshine to get S-Off,i'm considering doing it sometime soon, but just asking, would firewater work if i flashed rom to earlier version of android, like 4.4.0 or so? Also would it need to be official or could costume rom work too? Sorry for another annoying S-Off question.
No does not work.

It is annoying, since the exact same question was already asked (and answered) twice yesterday (and also easy to search and look for besides that) if you just scroll down on the first page of threads. It looks like you are new to XDA. But it would be your benefit to know that most every question you can think of about this device has already been posted, and the knowledge easily obtainable by just looking/searching. Only after doing your due diligence to search (and not finding anything) should you start a new thread.
Also, flashing different ROMs won't enable old s-off exploits that have since been patched by HTC. It doesn't work that way, HTC is not that stupid. The key is in hboot (not the ROM which can be easily changed) which cannot be "downgraded" unless you have s-off already.
In any case, firewater was an online service, so it doesn't work no matter what version hboot you have, since the dev stopped supporting firewater.

Alright, thanks, sorry for late reply. I've been going around xda forum and i saw that for some roms it says it requiers either htc dev unlocked or s-off. I can unlock phone with htc dev, does that mean i dont need s-off to flash rom, kernel and firmware?

You'll need S-Off to flash firmware. But there are other ways to update without flashing a firmware.zip, usually by going back to stock ROM and recovery, and taking the OTAs provided by your carrier or by running an RUU.

RUU stands for ROM Update Utility. So yes, since it's purpose is to update, it should be higher than your current firmware.
Error 130 is because you aren't running the right RUU.
Get into fastboot and do fastboot getvar all, then post the readout here minus your serial# and IMEI. I'll link you to the proper RUU.

Wait. Dual sim? And I missed it anyways. lol. Hung over and just smoked a joint.
You'll have to change your MID as well.
You can find out how here.
I'm guessing this will work only, because I am unfamiliar with the dual sim. But since you are already running WWE firmware on your device, I think it will.

Then you'll probably have to go back to stock to update via OTAs.
Go to this thread, and do a search for what it says in your version-main for a stock ROM backup (if you don't have one that you made yourself) and also for the stock recovery.

I have stock ROM backup for version 4.4.3, but when i tried to update it just sent me into twrp, and i tried to install OTA from there but it just sent me some error. Do you suggest i move to 4.4.3,get stock recovery and then do OTAs? Also closest numbers to my main version in that thread are 3.32 and 3.34 for both ROM and recovery,if this doesn't work which one should i get?

Alright,thanks for all your help.
Greetings to you all. Can someone please give me the best advice what is the best thing to do with my unit now. I only want to install and enjoy custom roms and kernel on my phone but I don't have a regular HTC 10.
Mine is m10h. It won't even allow me update to Nougat.
I just got it today from online selling.
My questions about this unit.
1. What is the difference of this model to regular HTC 10.?
2. Can I go ahead to usual way of unlocking bootloader, flash recovery and flash the custom roms I like ex. Leedroid, Viper, RR, Lineage.? Or I need to flash convert the firmware first or flash RUU.
I attached the system information of my phone on bootloader.
I'd appreciate any help. Please post links which you think will be helpful for me. Thank you.

What makes you think it's not "regular"?
It's just a WWE HTC 10 (pme_uhl) from Taiwan region.
Nothing different about it, that I can see.
Should be no problem to unlock it and flash custom roms for the HTC 10.
Hey @santod040. Thanks for paying attention to my concern. I've used your roms before on my M7. Haha.
I was also surprised to know about this model. Thought all HTC 10 are the same. When I check About Phone - Phone Identity says HTC_M10h.
I will unlock the bootloader now. But my I'm thinking with my current firmware if I'll be able to flash any roms here without facing any issues. Because it's stuck to Android MM. Won't let me update to Nougat.
Do I need to update the firmware first? Before flashing custom roms or my current firmware will be fine. Please advise.

I would first update to Nougat firmware for your variant, either by stand alone firmware zip or full RUU.
RUU you should be looking for:

Try this link: RUU
Download file
Rename to: 2PS6IMG.zip
Place in root of External Storage(SD Card)
Boot to Download Mode
Press volume+ up to proceed with flash
"should" update your device to Nougat and WILL wipe it as well.
So be sure to save anything that may be important to you (photos, etc) if that applies yet.
After the above process, you should be able to flash TWRP, followed by any current custom roms for HTC 10.

I've already provided the link for that; and also instructions; in the other thread you were posting in.

I guess its time to interrupt your conversation.
I'm having 2.41.401.41 pmeuhl. After some battery drain issues on venom rom, i did a nandroid restore to stock rom. But still i'm facing battery drain issues. There is one 2.41.401.41 link https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/stock-stock-collection-recovery-ruu-ota-t3359297in this thread.
But it failed with an error- HEADER_ERROR while doing the sdcard method.
Now i think i need the asian version since this phone is from UAE. so is there an asian version of 2.41.401.41 ??
Awesome! I have more confidence now to do this step because of your help guys..
So after I have updated to latest Nougat / flash RUU. I will then proceed to unlocking bootloader, flash recovery then roms etc. Am I correct?
And please take note that my phone is not S-OFF. The steps are still safe with S-On right?
Thank you very much for taking your time to help me out. :good:

Thanks for the quick reply! I took your advice and downloaded the Verizon RUU found here https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=24545065934258324 , which is DOTTAT_VZW10_1.19.605.9_s_on.exe . It should be noted that this is the gold international one, I think. Model number 2PS6200. I think the bands aren't enabled by default, but is it possible to add them in with something like CDMA tools? I can't seem to find an answer online. Unfortunately I'm stuck with this phone one way or another, so if there's a way to make this work I'm all ears.
Hello friends!
My HTC10 is not rooted and is running on Nougat 7.0 with software version 2.42.651.66 and im not able to update it from the settings.
It is a Middle East unlocked device.
I tried going to SETTINGS-SYSTEM UPDATES-HTC SOFTWARE UPDATE
and then CHECK NOW
But it is only showing CHECKING for an infinite amount of time.
Tried this over wifi and on cellular data but still cant update.
I need a solution where i can update my ROM (STOCK ROM ONLY, DONT WANT TO ROOT) manually using an SD CARD only because my USB connector has got some issues.
Would really appreciate if someone can help.
That is weird i have unlocked OS with software number 2.41.401.41 and it is the latest update for MENA and EU, how did you update your phone ?

Why is that weird. It's locked to Sprint. Check the region number. When it's bought in the Middle East it's probably imported. There is more to find about this in the sprint section, it has its own subforum

Yes I just checked on the HTC website and the software version of my phone matches the Sprint details.
How do I change it to a Middle east version? Is it possible by flashing the ROM?? Which is the latest version of OS available on HTC10?? I have no issues with the network... I have factory reset it several times and yet my Local network is working. If it was locked to Sprint, it wouldnt have worked here on my Local Network.
I know this is an old thread now but I've just purchased a new htc 10 in the UK and it looks like I have the same issue as the op, (running what appears to be an unlocked Sprint phone running nougat on 2.42.651.66). Just wondering should I/is it safe to, update to Oreo via the ruu on the US htc support site, or I guess the other option would be to s-off, change mid and then flash leedroid or similar? I'm happy just running stock Oreo and don't 'want' to go down the route of s-off etc. Will I be safe enough to just flash the ruu?

Yes if the 651 part of the ruu matches and the first numbers are higher than 2.42 (like 3.16.651) you can flash it to get to oreo. After that you can stay stock or gain root, or flash a custom oreo or pie (los, aosp) roms.

Thanks for that. But now another quick question if you can help. Using a cid app via playstore it reports as a Sprint cid. I've since booted into fasboot/bootloader, it says *locked* but also says s-off. cid there shows cid.11111. I'm thinking this has been flashed with a Sprint ruu. Will I be safe enough to follow the steps to unlock the bootloader and just flash a wwe ruu do you think? I've flashed plenty of roms in the past and from what I remember cid. 11111 looks like supercid? In which case I can flash many different ruu's? Just really want to update to Oreo so would the Sprint ruu be the best option as you say? Then I can go on to whatever I want after that and just ignore the Sprint cid side of things?
Thanks in advance ?

As far as i can tell you can safely flash the sprint oreo ruu, i don't think you need to unlock the BL because it's s-off (the flag "locked" is changed by sunshine s-off). You should be able to flash the ruu straight up.
Most easy is to get the nougat sprint ruu and flash that, then update via HTC OTA to oreo.
If you want to flash the oreo ruu you need to flash the oreo firnware first and then the ruu other wise the ruu won't flash.

Just want to say thanks again for all your help man. Made some progress late last night. Oreo firmware flashed, Leedroid rom installed. All good....or so i thought...Realised i no longer have either a 3G or 4G data connection. If i put my sim in my old phone i pick up 4G fine. I also know for sure i did have 4G when it was on Nougat. (Why, 'o' why did i start this.....). In the Aroma installer im selecting WWE UHL build. Thought okay, maybe this is the issue. But if i try the sprint setting i then get stuck in a loop on the setup wizard with it trying to do "Handsfree activation". Im thinking maybe its a radio issue that somehow ive skipped/missed? Anyway im going to download the Nougat RUU and try going through the steps again, (if i can, from what ive read im not sure i can do that after flashing an oreo RUU). Any help suggestions you've got would be most welcome at this point mate.

Did you try 4G on the stock oreo build, flash the stock oreo ruu and see if that helps. I think I've seen reports about this in the leedroid thread but never really followed it as i know nothing to little about sprint
Mr Hofs said:
As far as i can tell you can safely flash the sprint oreo ruu, i don't think you need to unlock the BL because it's s-off (the flag "locked" is changed by sunshine s-off). You should be able to flash the ruu straight up.
Most easy is to get the nougat sprint ruu and flash that, then update via HTC OTA to oreo.
If you want to flash the oreo ruu you need to flash the oreo firnware first and then the ruu other wise the ruu won't flash.

OK guys my HTC 10 model is the HTC__J15, and I was using Pure Fusion OS 7. 1 Nougat ROM. I did not receive any OTA for Oreo from HTC and I flashed LeeDroid 5.0 (Oreo) on top of my Pure Fusion OS 7.1. It was an amateur mistake I know and I have been suffering for past couple of days because of it. Now my firmware version shows 3.16.401.2, I dunno what my firmware version was before that.
Anyway, going back to Nougat completely breaks my Radio, it won't even ask for a sim. When I boot Oreo, either LeeDroid or a TWRP system backup specific to the 3.16.401.2 firmware, the phone does ask to insert sim, but fails to recognize the sim. I have tried a variety of SIMS and none of them worked. In the call settings it says Network or Sim Card Error. I have been informed by other members that the Oreo RUU for 3.16.401.2 isn't out yet so the only solution I can think of is go S-OFF by purchasing Sunshine and changing my CID and MID to the US Unlocked version so I can flash the US Unlocked RUU zip and maybe it will fix my radio.
So if anyone has any better solution or opinion on what to do it would be really helpful. Do you think purchasing Sunshine would be a worthy investment? Please leave your opinions and solutions I would really appreciate it. P.s don't suggest that I read other threads etc, I have searched every thread thoroughly for the past few days and no one has faced my issue or has posted a solution for it.

Bro you stopped replying to me in the last thread we were having a conversation, after I told you that my radio isn't working even on Oreo! I didn't want to bother you again cause maybe you were busy with something else, so I res-posted here just to see if someone else can give me some advice on how fix the radio issue. I'm not trying to spam or anything sorry
I am going to try and flash the Nougat RUU and the upgrade with the Oreo zip file, see if that works

No you can't. You should try a format data in twrp. Not wipe but format. Then reflash leedroid ROM. Other than that there is not much you can do.
Thanks guys for all your suggestions and insights I was finally able to get my radio working by downgrading to Nougat first and the the Oreo OTA. This is was only possible with S-ON thanks to @sabpprook and his amazing guide. And @santod040 even though I annoyed you with my reposts you still helped out which was pretty big of you, cheers mate

Glad you got it sorted while S ON without bricking your phone. Can be a risky procedure. Why don't you write up how you solved your problem just incase someone else has the same problem. ?
How I fixed my radio issue for the J__15 HTC 10:
First download the Nougat RUU File found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75213749&postcount=9
And to flash the RUU with S-ON follow the steps provided in this video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJrNEsWVyOc&t=80s
After downgarding to Nougat successfully, check for updates and install the Oreo update. This should fix the radio.
If you have any confusion regarding the steps in the video, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to respond ASAP.
Note: Credit for all this goes to : @santod040 and @sabpprook, they have done all the hard work I have just posted the links

Your post creates far more questions in my head, than answers.
It would make far more sense to try to figure out what went wrong with the custom ROM install, since that is what you were trying to accomplish from the start.
Most issues flashing custom ROM are due to outdated firmware on phone, old version TWRP, or wrong variant of M8. To determine which of those applies to you, we would need more info:
What custom ROM did you try to install? What version TWRP?
Also need to do fastboot getvar all, and post the results (delete IMEI and serial number).
If you still want to use the RUU:
How do you know it was the proper RUU version for your M8 variant (there are dozens)?
What is the file name or version number of the RUU(s) you tried?
Also need the getvar info indicated above, to know more info about the M8 variant, and therefore what determine what RUU to use.
You also need a relocked bootloader to RUU (unless the phone is s-off). But if it is still unlocked, I would recommend you leave it that way, and instead try to troubleshoot why the custom ROM is not working, rather than going backwards and relocking the bootloader, RUU, etc.
Also, when flashing a custom ROM, you should always make a backup in TWRP of the existing (such as stock) ROM before trying to flash a custom ROM. If you had done that, you could just restore the TWRP backup you made, instead of messing with RUUs.

That version is really old, over 3 years old. It's not compatible with current ROMs, and not compatible with your current firmware (which is Marshmallow as shown in the getvar output).
Fail to flash the ROM is an expected result.
If you still want to flash Lineage, you need to flash a more current version (latest is TWRP 3.2.1-0) which you can get from here: https://dl.twrp.me/m8/
But you've also flashed an old RUU, and downgraded the firmware to Lollipop. It's probably not a big deal, but you're going backwards here. You might also find that you need to play around with TWRP versions to get one that works with Lollipop firmware. Not sure, but I think TWRP 3.2 (maybe earlier even) or later does not play well with Lollipop. And the 2.7 is way too old. So a version in between may be needed (2.8.7 is tried and trusted in many cases).
Probably better to RUU back to Marshmallow (I'll describe that below). Then from there, you can flash latest TWRP and then Lineage, if you like.

Sounds like you are flashing multiple RUU versions. But we can't troubleshoot the error message, if you don't tell us what RUU's resulted in the error. RUU 4.16.401.10 clearly didn't give you that error, since it works. So it must have been other RUUs that you trie.
First of all, as the error message makes clear, the RUU for the wrong model (or wrong Carrier ID also) will result in RUU failure.
Also, flashing RUU's randomly, without knowing if it is the right one for your device is really dangerous, and can result in permanent damage if you flash the RUU for the wrong M8 version!
Be aware that flashing RUU (and some other things) is very risky with s-off, if you don't know exactly what you are doing!

You flashed the Lollipop RUU. You basically downgraded the OS, as you started with Marshmallow. That is probably why you think the software looks like that of the M7.
The Marshmallow RUU is here:

After that, if you still want to flash Lineage, put TWRP back on the phone (such as version 3.2.1-0) and you should be able to flash Lineage successfully. I assume your bootloader is still shown as UNLOCKED on the bootloader screen?
