N910FXXS1DQC3 Firmware - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i saw that samsung is releasing a firmware update for the Note 4 to N910FXXS1DQC3 which is 6.0.1 European firmware, more info here https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N910F/ , my wonder was with the 150 or so security patches in this update. Im running EmotionOS which has its own firmware requirements so i cant just change firmwares but some of the files should be useful somehow right?

If you're on an old firmware -it is probably worth updating - It is quite good for a stock rom. I'm using it myself.

[Q] Galaxy grand Flashing advice

Hi everyone, I have a Galaxy Grand that I flashed using the Russian version of the firmware, and now that the official Indian version has been released, I want to use that version. Importantly , I want to fix the contact bug, where if you search for a contact and when you tap on it, the next contact is selected.
So what is the procedure I need to follow to install the latest official Indian Firmware and links if any.
There has been too many firmware release which is causing confusion for me.
Other queries, mostly secondary:
1. Is there a linux version of Odin, or any other flashing device that can be used in Linux
2. Is there a working kernel that supports USB-OTG or USB-Host.
Thanks in advance
AFAIK, Odin does not work in Linux (Yeah I know its strange considering Android is based on Linux !). You could attempt it in VM probably. Heimdall runs in Linux but I dont know if it is compatible with Grand Duos.
There is no kernel which enables USB-OTG / USB Host mode in Grand. Might require hardware modifications.
I dont think I need to tell you about flashing. Pick any firmware of your choice and flash through Odin !
search sammobile site
As said ODIN works only in windows.
try with a VM if needed...
For the latest firmware for your country, search the sammobile.com site, they ll provide the latest firmware details and file to download.....
Well, If there's no kernel that can enable OTG, I don't think there is any incentive in updating the software.
I last update on 13th June 2013. Is it worth updating now? I mean has the firmware improved?

Anyone still stuck on 4.4.2?

Samsung noob here.
Bought a used Galaxy S Tab 10.5 a month ago. For some reason it's still on KitKat 4.4.2 and never got the update to Lollipop.
Any idea why?
Model: SM-T805W
Build #: KOT49H.T805WVLU0ANF5 (I search all around but couldn't find any info on T805WXXU0ANF5)
Carrier: Bell Canada (Although I don't use mobile data and only have an expired T-Mobile SIM in it to get rid of the "No SIM" message. I only use WiFi.)
Probably because there is no marshmallow rom at the moment.
Latest is 5.0.2 and can be downloaded from SamMobile.

Oh snap I meant Lollipop. Fixed OP
According to sammobile.com this is the latest firmware for T805W model:
Date: 2015-09-01
Version: Android 5.0.2
PDA: T805WVLU1BOD7
CSC: T805WOYA1BOD7
Are you non-rooted stock? As far as I know, one reason when OTA updates are not offered is when ROM status is not official or if the system is rooted (maybe when it is stock rooted, OTA is offered but cannot be installed).
Anyway, you can download the original firmware from sammobile.com as ashyx suggested and flash it using Odin. There are plenty of manuals how to do that here on xda.

Doubt about OTA Updates on S9

What's up everyone. I have a SM-G9GOU1, Galaxy S9 US unlocked. I recently installed the beta update to 9.0 Pie with the new One UI by following the instructions here at XDA. Yesterday, I got the official stable update by downloading it at SamFirm application. I entered the properly CSC of my device which is XAA and installed the new firmware by Odin. The device is so much more smooth and stable now. So, my doubt is, will I continue receiving posterior OTA updates, or I need to flash the stock ROM which is a Oreo version? The firmware is official and the CSC matches. Thanks everyone for your attention. Every answer is helpful.

Downgrading from Oreo back to 7.0 Nougat

So, I currently have a samsung s7 active that I purchased used, unlocked but was using AT&T with the AT&T firmware on itat the time. I upgraded it to Oreo universal firmware
It's currnet running info is
Baseband: G891AUCS5CSB1
Android Version: 8.0.0
Samsung Experience version: 9.0
Android security patch level: February 1, 2019
How would I go about downgrading back to Nougat but the Universal firmware?
I'm quite new to the android system, and all the guides seem to have different steps to use and there seems to be a million firmwares for each version.
I was looking at the thread linked here, and there seems to be 3 of the same firmware that are all different somehow???
What would be the best, easiest, and quickest firmware to use and guide to follow? I want to go back to Nougat with the universal firmware and my phone to remain unlocked of course
any help is greatly appreciated. thanks!
the problem with this dam phone is the locked bootloader! snapdragon samsung sucks... PLUS it was exlusive to ATT
such a shame. a phone with an AMAZING camera even today and the BEST design for its time... only to be locked to AT&T, LOCKED snapdragon and really ****ty stock software super lame
because of this I'm not sure the thing can be downgraded
Hello, is that the case then? That the S7 Active can't be downgraded back to android v.7 Nougat ? I'm hoping that it can, as AT&T just forced the v.8 Oreo into my S7 this morning, and now I no longer have the very useful 'Usage Manager' app. =( I used it more than any other app, to enable/disable mobile data on the fly, and kill all running apps in background, etc etc.
Please let it be..... downgradable !=(

Is there a way to get Android 7.1.1 Nougat on Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 SM-G165N?

I brought this Koran flip andriod phone a few months back on ebay & the latest update it has atm is Android 6.0.1
I was wondering if anyone has any success flashing Andriod Nougat on it since G1650 has Nougat firmware for it? (China version I think)
I tried flashing the lastest G1650 firmware to my G6165N via Odin & no luck so far. Just throws an error about can't read firmware if I recall.
