Hi all.
Have an issue with this HTC WP 8S device.
As described in thread name, after power on I can see a black screen with battery indicator and clock only visible but lock picture is visible.
Seems like shell (explorer maybe ) won't start due to not enough space or file system corruption.
Connected to a PC via MTP device shows ~600 KB free space against 3,6 GB total, while all folders on "Phone" (Music, Pictures, Videos, etc.) are empty.
Is there any way to run scan disk, clear cache, remove some apps or at least make a factory reset over cable and PC?
Thank you in advance for any help.
Resolved with "Soft Reset": Volume Down + Power Button for ~10 seconds till reboot.
This has freed ~7 MBs of space, seems like some cache was deleted or something similar.
All apps and settings are not touched. :victory:
I hope this will help someone else.
Hi All,
I'm loving the quality and the performance of the oneplus 3 but there are a few issues that are irritating me!
1) Apps crash before starting - Intermittently, applications just show a black or white screen when executed. I have to press the power button to get the phone usable again. Example - Google drive, maps, pocket casts , tapet
2) Recents button crash - Pressing the recents button crashes the system ui. This has been happening more since 3.2.0
3) Wifi does not turn off - WIfi remains on after being turned off from quick settings or the main settings page.
4) Android system drain - Android system, almost always, has more battery usage than the screen!
5) I'm not sure if this is an issue - I recently installed AppOpsXposed module and looks like the Google Play Services and Android System have location access running even when location & wifi scanning are turned off. Shouldn't the location permission be used only when location access is turned on? I believe this is contributing to the android system drain!
I'm currently on FreedomOS 3.2.1 but have faced these issues from Stock 3.1.2 onwards. Not sure about 3.1.1 since I received the OTA on first boot. I have tried going back to stock(no root/no xposed) but that doesn't help either.
Thoughts?

Hm. It does work. Works well even. Gotta say they ruined the interface a little bit though. The default mode is automatic mode photo like normal, except swiping left or right switches between photo and video. To get to manual mode or slow motion (which does work if you have a rom with the OOS HAL) you have to tap the menu icon in the upper left corner and select it. You can't just swipe up and down anymore to quickly get to it.
Edit: There is also no save to SD card option in this app as the OnePlus 5 does not have an SD card slot.
Edit 2: There is also no option for high framerate recording like there is in the older OOS Camera app which helps immensely with the low framerate in low lighting.
I have tried to root and use UPSM manager to add app to power saving mode. When I choose apps and click save, it said saved successfully but when I restart and go into power saving mode, I cannot see all what I have chosen, still the limited default apps shown and I still have to choose again which app I want to use and I cannot add more than what they allow there. (If you want to add more, you will have to remove the current in the list and get space for new one )
Is there any other solution that works ? Thank you !
Maybe bixby routines?
how will I add app in bixby routines and will that still work in Maximum Power Saving mode in note 10+ ?
I don't let bixby run, lol read it's eula.
Just know from what I see here that's it's pretty capable.
There's also the Macrodroid app, it may be able to do that.
You know that going into max power saving mode really screws up the display settings when you come out of it? It does on my version, that glitch may have been corrected.
I checked Macrodroid and looks like it is an app for automation. Still cant figure out how that will be able to serve my purpose to add more app in power saving mode ?
(If power saving mode could help me to save battery while I still can use all the most frequent apps I need, then I don't bother coming out of it, and so the display etc.)
You want a custom app list for the power saving mode.
Both Bixby and Macroandriod are for setting up routines. Both use a fair amount of battery.
Beyond that the other issue may be dependencies that the apps you want to run need apks that are deliberately shutdown to conserve power in the maximum power savings mode.
That's one reason it can save power so well.
Specifically what app(s) do you want to run?
I want at least these app:
- Whatsapp
- Messenger
- Covid tracing app (for entrance)
- Bus timing
- Outlook
- Camera
- Home camera
- And if possible: Spotify, and one or 2 apps more also for working.

It's not happening is my opinion. You got a bunch of apps that are constantly polling the internet.
I won't even let WhatsApp on my devices. As for Covid, I'm in Texas and we're already over that junk.
Maximum power savings mode means minimum functionality. A major reason you're chewing up so much power are the social apps running in the background. I have none on my phone; if I can't use a site through the browser, I won't use it.
FB, WhatsApp, Instagram, etc are all data miners and not to be trusted.
My SOT ranges from 7-13%@hr in Optimized power setting. >.5%@hr at night with tap on AOD with phone/internet connected on my N10+'s.
These devices are also heavily optimized so it's more than just not having the social media apps.
I tried power saving with all these apps mentioned above (when I need some app I just use edit button then edit and remove one app to get space for other app in power saving mode) and I have my phone lasting from 8am to mid night. So good enough for me I believe. Now I only need a way that I do not need to remove, add them
Any body has a solution?
2071-3 on a12 retus fresh 100% wipe and install, have a weird issue where normally the external screen works perfectly no matter what page or activity (weather, dialing, texting, other apps in general), but when there is a notification in the tray and you try to touch or swipe or whatever to view it the screen is 100% unresponsive. you cant swipe up, down, left, right or touch the tooltip, its completely dead to touch (but displays just fine) until you open the phone and clear the notification tray. its very weird. sometimes if you swipe the screen right after turning it on you can move into another page and it works perfectly fine as normal as long as you dont try to interact with the home page, but if you go back and stay there or try to touch the noti it becomes unresponsive again.
is this a known bug? is there a fix? the only other thing i can think of is that i disabled some of the bloatware apps it came with and one of them might be responsible for the functionality? i have disabled the following, and none of them except where noted would seem like they would have any effect on this:
google assistant
astro odyssey
demo mode
device help
google duo
google files
google games
google one
google tv
moto
moto display (yes i know, i turned it back on and it didnt fix it)
moto feedback
moto notifications
youtube
yt music
