GApps Variant Aroma for Galaxy S4 I9505? - LineageOS Questions & Answers

Variant: Aroma?
I have an Android Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505. It's rooted. I have TWRP installed.
I want to install Lineage OS. I downloaded
LineageOS-20170120-jfltexx-UNOFFICIAL.zip http://www.lineageosrom.com/2017/01/galaxy-s4-lineage-os-nougat.html
I see "Download Gapps For Lineage OS All Version 6.0, 7.1 {Daily Updated}"
http://www.lineageosrom.com/2016/12/download-gapps-for-lineage-os-all.html
And the S4 I9505 is ARM architecture
But what is "Download Google Apps For Lineage OS 7.1" with options for
Aroma, Super, Stock, Full ... ?
That page links to
http://opengapps.org/?download=true&arch=arm&api=7.1&variant=aroma
Which shows Platform: ARM, Android: 7.1, Variant: aroma.
Does that mean that Aroma is the correct variant for my phone?

The Aroma isn't a bad choice but, I believe that it's not the best option (purely my personal opinion).
You may want to take a look at the following Official Open GApps Wiki pages for the additional information you may be looking for.
https://github.com/opengapps/opengapps/wiki/Aroma-Package
https://github.com/opengapps/opengapps/wiki/Package-Comparison
The following Wiki is regarding the individual to manually create their own GApps package that, I feel, may also require additional skills but, is actually simpler than the Aroma (still just a personal opinion).
https://github.com/opengapps/opengapps/wiki/Advanced-Features-and-Options
Good Luck!

I DO NOT provide support via PM unless asked/requested by myself. PLEASE keep it in the threads where everyone can share.

Aroma package is only to choose which Google Apps do you want to install. It includes all the Google Apps found by Google. It also takes up your space. But I recommend you to download the Micro, Nano or Pico package for your device. It includes the basic Google Apps. After downloading, wipe data, cache, dalvik cache and system in twrp. Then flash the OS. Then flash the gapps. If you flash other packages, it will slow your device and will get heated up.
Enjoy

This firmware was developed for the p905. It doesn't apply to the p905v at this time because it's bootloader locked and a custom recovery isn't possible.
If you want to check firmware - please make backup. Better to store all partitions, at least efs and may be modem.
I'm using nano gapps.

1. Install custom recovery
2. Download the zip(s) - firmware and Google Apps additional package (optional)

Hardware and config the same.
The idea is create another thread for custom firmwares, based on lineage\aosp.
Right now it's RR only, i'm working on OMNI rom, and later i'll build more firmwares.

I'm taking a stab at what you are trying to express but the roms take 10 to 15 minutes to boot the first time because you are doing a full wipe. If you are not giving it at least that long magisk is not a likely cause.

Send Valera1978 a bug report via Private Message. It is the only way developers can isolate the problem and fix it. In most Roms you can take a bug report via developer options.

I followed the step from another user. I paste all steps.
"The order i flashed everything and how i set up everything was:
1) flash twrp and make sure it sticks
2) boot twrp
3) completly wipe /data, so twrp is able to mount it (you have to format the data partition.)
3.5) DONT reboot
4) flash no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip, root disabler and magisk
5) boot stock rom and setup everything (initial setup and so on)"
I wiped all data, system, internal, etc... also I formatted /data ....
I'll do some checks and I'll post the results.
Thx in advance
---------- Post added at 09:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:58 AM ----------
It seems I partially solved. It boots but it stuck at "Checking for updates... This may take a minute or two"
Of course, as i saw, this rom does not include gapps so i'm unable to setup the google account, and that's why I select "set up as new".
Edit: I think i'm going to wait for the google framework included version How is it going?
Stock ROM with google is uploading now..
New Version with all google inside is up...
Would it be possible to flash micro gapps from opengapps onto the ROM with gapps removed?
Might try it out in a couple of hours and I'll report back.

It would be perfect if the gapps package incuded in the full version comes with some bloat
I mean movies, music, powerpoints, documents from google... For me this is bloat too
5 hours with the full version flashed and at the moment zero problems.
This is an idea..
Iam going to create a tool for deleting the bloatware which you want.
But my focus i on the kernel now.
Thanks for positiv feedback .-)
I need the phone working for the weekend but gonna definitely try this on Monday. Good work!

Just finished installing it with the no Google ROM and pico gapps it works great, just one hitch when installing I couldn't get the keyboard to come up on the screen.
Solved the keyboard issue by connecting an external keyboard and installing gboard from the play store.
Realy interesting.
@ fliky
Which keyboard you like to use?? Stock one or from google?

This rom is the beginning!! The first one.
Now we have the base to do more.

I explicitly told you which ROM, Gapps & script you need to flash. Script won't work with MIUI! Their is no costume kernel for MIUI!
ROM:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max/development/rom-lineageos-14-1-t3529851
Why this one? Because it's rock stable & far less buggy than MIUI. It comes with semi costume kernel (only really needed things ware add & set as defaults) which is also much more secure than others available. Same kernel is adopted by all newer costume ROM's. It's also semi costume ROM & contains only fixes like full support for dual SIM, VOLTE status bar indicator that you won't find in official LineageOS builds, it also uses firmware property libs for hardware directory from Xiaomi MIUI builds. It doesn't contain any added apps or anything else different from official LineageOS. Reed the first post carefully before flashing!
Pico Gapps are the smallest one's & only ones that don't come with Google Asistent which alone saves 100MB of RAM.
So from TWRP as I assume you already have it if you don't find also nijel8 TWRP & install it first. You first flash the ROM, firmware, Pico Gapps (all linked in the first post for ROM), power/performance script. Let it boot in settings find & enable hotplug install your apps & games & enjoy.

Gapps are Gapps. I told pico Gapps because they are smaller and lack Google assistant for sole gaming purpose that means 100MB free RAM. I don't know about RR (I doubt it) ask the author.

LePro 3 : How to install GSI Roms, and where to find them
The point of this discussion is to alleviate the confusion of installing and configuring GSI Roms.
Although many of us would prefer to use fully native Android Pie Roms that are specifically designed for our phones, we do not yet have Official Pie Rom options, and there isn't alot of Beta options to choose from. Consequently, we get bored easily and are always searching something new.
Thankfully, GSI provides a wide range of alternative options and there's nothing wrong with experimentation and quelling our curiosities. In the end, lets just make sure that we continue to support our XDA Le Pro 3 developers, and if you can afford to do something nice for them...Please do so!
This thread is a work in progress and and intended to be a group effort, your participation is very welcome and highly appreciated
The OP will change often to add further information, or to correct inaccuracies, dead links, etc. So remember to check the OP occasionally, for updated information and links for useful add-ons or fixes.
The goal is that participants/you; share experiences, reviews, and suggestions.
In example, which GSI Roms you've tried, what was the experience like, was it worth it the time, did you use add-ons, etc.
If your installation required plugins, add-ons, fixes and what specifically did you use, PLEASE provide the link...etc.
Please don't say that you used a zip file to fix something and then not mention the name of that item.
Again, this a teamwork thread, be descriptive, it helps us understand what works and what doesn't. Be kind, share, discuss, and answer questions with patience and humility. If this is all new to you, feel feel to ask for help. [/I]
For now, I am providing the steps that I personally took to install and try several GSI Roms, See the steps below to get started and try this new GSI option for yourself.
Step 1 - Gather all needed Files
Latest Twrp : https://twrp.me/leeco/leecolepro3.html
Base Rom Currently base rom options are : Lineage 15.1 Treble, AICP 13.1 and Bootleggers ( Trebled Version)
Magisk: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
Gapps 9.0 : https://opengapps.org/ (I personally use Nano, or Pico > Best to choose something small )

___________________________________________________________________________________________
Step 2 - Installation Part 1 - Automated Vendor Option - See Bottom of OP for more Manual vendor flash method
Longterm and recommended - Quick Recovery Method
******Boot to Recovery> Flash Preferred Base Rom > Flash Gapps, Flash Magisk******
1. Choose advanced wipe : Select system, Data, Cache and Dalvik Cache
2. Reboot Recovery
3. Flash Trebled Lineage or Trebled AICP ( from Links above)
4. Reboot Recovery - Flash Rom a second time.
5. Flash Gapps 8.1
6. Flash Magisk 17.1
7. Reboot to recovery, reboot to OS > Must do Basic Setup.
8. After setup - Reboot to Recovery Create full backup> Check Everything.
9. Optional save copy of Backup to PC, this will help you quickly restore the phone should you encounter any issues.
Once you have a full Backup of a your trebelized installation, you are now ready to install GSI Rom.
Some GSI Roms have Gapps included while others do not.
If you chosen GSI rom ( seems ideal) that does not have Gapps, you will need to flash Gapps 9.0
Step 3 - Installation Part 2
GSI Installation Steps
1. Reboot Recovery
2. Do a factory reset
3. Install GSI to system
4. Flash Gapps 9.0 ( if needed)

Installation Option 2 -
Quicker install Method - You can choose to have no backup at all or save a partial recovery ( System,Root) which is very helpful to have available, if you break your installation
Step 1 - Installation Part 1
Gather your Preferred Base Rom , Gapps, Magisk
Boot to Recovery
Choose advanced wipe : Select system, Data, Cache and Dalvik Cache
Reboot Recovery
Flash Trebled Lineage or Trebled AICP ( see Links above)
Reboot Recovery - Flash Rom a second time.
No Gapps needed ( save alot of time by skipping setup)
Flash Magisk 17.1
Reboot to Recovery Create full backup> Check Everything.
( Note that you are not booting to system, this method install base and provides a recovery, to will help save time when starting over or returning to a standard Rom.)
Optional save copy of Backup to PC, this will help you quickly restore the phone should you encounter any issues.
Once you have your gappless backup of a your trebelized installation, you are now ready to install GSI Rom.
Some roms have Gapps included while others do not.
If you chosen GSI rom that does not have Gapps, you will need to flash Gapps 9.0
Step 2 - Installation Part 2
1. Reboot Recovery
2. Do a factory reset
3. Install GSI to system
4. Flash Gapps 9.0 ( if needed)
5. Flash Magisk
6. Reboot to recovery, reboot to OS > Setup GSI > Enjoy!
The steps listed above assumes that you know the fundamentals of fastboot, using TWRP recovery, etc.
Using GSI’s roms is essentially testing GSI roms, there is no guarantee, although quite a few run extremely well on many devices.
The instructions above are just guidelines, of course as per XDA policy, anything that you choose to flash is done at your own risk

Installing updates - Steps Needed
The Base Rom method is easier a superior to using Trembled TWRP ( for me the using regular Twrp and Base cause the system to have better stability.
To update GSI Rom
You do not need to wipe any vendor partitions.
Place the update in your downloads folder, and unpack it.
Boot to recovery,
Clear simple cache,
Flash GSI rom to system,
Clear caches
Reboot to system > finished.
If you have a bootloop [email protected] reflash lineage boot.

Very good and stable rom, with the same issues of the other GSI (Nfc, mobile network setup, stock camera)
It brings less personalization than Benzo but does not have as many problems with the Gapps that it comes pre-installed.
It's PR2 and it brings September security patch.
I'm noticing that all the GSIs that I've tried so far have a sharpness and screen definition that I did not see in Oreo, it's what I think.

So far we we know that the following Roms work on the Leeco pro 3
Benzo, version 9/1
Havoc, most recent version. : Gapps is installed separately - I have experienced no issues at all with this rom. Currently using BlackScreen 5.3. r3
If I left anyone out of this post let me know.

First things first, excellent work with the guide step by step, very complete.
I add to the information that there is a new version of Benzo (0912) but it was very difficult to install because the Gapps that are preinstalled have a conflict with the Google Play Store, once all the steps are finished and before starting the first boot of the system , the protection of Google (factory reset protection or FRP) must be removed by means of a PC program, otherwise the initial setting will not go beyond "Searching for Updates". How I said the installation of this Rom is complicated.
Finally in XDA as in the Russian forum 4PDA I read that is about to come out a patch to run the NFC in the GSI Android Pie Roms, hopefully so.
Informative post! Aosip has been treblized too, have not tried it as a base however.

Thanks,
I am using AICP as a base for Havoc with the boot.img from lineage and Blackscreen 5.3.r3 .
Its a flawless installation, Gapps is installation separately the gapps issue that some GSI Roms bring is avoided completely.
Sound quality, Call Quality, Battery life all excellent. Plus, I have installed all of my usual Magisk mods (alot!) without breaking the install.

Yes, its the 0901 version that has no issues, right?
I only tried the 09/12 version, after seeing your post. and prior to that I was on two separate versions of miui GSI. and 2 versions of P beta
The Miui 10 Oreo version will be excellent once its display bugs are worked out.

That's right, the 0109 is the stable version of Benzo.
Against my principles I passed Antutu to the Pixel Experience 9 that I am testing and it gave me a very good score although I still seem that Android 9 offers the best user experience on this phone and Antutu does not reflect that.
Edit: The phone did not raise temperature while running the Antutu tests.
Incredible work @tsongming!! You are a fine machine....

Do you still need the lineageOS boot.img if you're using blackscreen?
Plan on flashing GSI soon. Really appreciate your instructions as they will help me and many others.

LePro 3 : How to install GSI Roms, and where to find them
The point of this discussion is to alleviate the confusion of installing and configuring GSI Roms.
Although many of us would prefer to use a fully native Android P Rom that is specifically designed for our phones, we do not currently have alot of native options.. In consequence, we get bored easily and are often ready to try something new.
Thankfully, we have options, and there's nothing wrong with experimentation and quelling our curiosities. Lets just make sure that we continue to support our own Le Pro 3 developers, and if you can afford it, do something nice for them
This thread is a work in progress and a group effort, your participation is very welcome and highly appreciated
The OP will change to add or change to add further information or correct inaccuracies. So check the OP occasionally.
The goal here is that all participants/ you to share experiences, reviews, and suggestions. I.E : which GSI Roms have you tried , what was your experience, was it worth it, did you use addons, if so what, can you provide the link...etc. or add ons that they have tried. This should be fun!
For now, I am providing the steps that I personally took to install and try several GSI Roms, See the steps below to try it for yourself..
Step 1 - Gather all needed Files
Latest Twrp : https://twrp.me/leeco/leecolepro3.html
Base Rom Currently two options Lineage 15.1 Treble and AICP Treble version
Magisk: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
Gapps 9.0 : https://opengapps.org/ (I personally use Nano, choose something small )
Lineage 15.1 Treble Build : https://sourceforge.net/projects/lin...1.zip/download
Lineage Boot: https://forum.xda-developers.com/att...9&d=1536591029 Can be used with AICP as well.
AICP Treble version: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77596157&postcount=4898
Preferred GSI Rom: https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/Generic-System-Image-(GSI)-list
BlackScreen 5.3.r3 : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77596092&postcount=540
ISSUE Resolutions Files
Safety Net Fix: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/guid-bypassing-safetynet-august-t3837809
Step 2 - Installation Part 1
Longterm ( recommended - Quick Recovery Method)
******Boot to Recovery> Flash Preferred Base Rom > Flash Gapps, Flash Magisk******
1. Choose advanced wipe : Select system, Data, Cache and Dalvik Cache
2. Reboot Recovery
3. Flash Trebled Lineage or Trebled AICP ( from Links above)
4. Reboot Recovery - Flash Rom a second time.
5. Flash Gapps 8.0
Step 3
GSI Installation Steps
1. Reboot Recovery
2. Do a factory reset
3. Install GSI to system
4. Flash Gapps 9.0 ( if needed)
5. Flash Magisk
6. Reboot to recovery, reboot to OS > Setup GSI > Enjoy!
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Option 2 - Step 1
Quicker install Method - You can choose to have no backup at all or save a partial recovery ( System,Root) which is very helpful to have available, if you break your installation
Step 1
Step 2

Probably not since Blackscreen overwrites the boot. When I first tried installing GSI's, I was only successful after using the Lineage boot, and the treble Black Screen had not been released yet.

[DISCONTINUED][TWRP BACKUP-ROM][10] Lightheart 1.0 Galaxy S10 [24.10.2020]

Lightheart 1.0 - Efficiency is key.
Hi everyone. My name is Skulldron and for those of you who do recognise me, know me as the creator of Project Pixel, another one of the greatest ways to emulate the Pixel Experience, whilst keeping all the benefits of using OneUI and its stock optimized drivers as its base. Today I'm going to be introducing something, different. Over the years of working on Touchwiz based ROMs, I've learnt the description of every little apk, every little permission, what it accepts and what it rejects, its pros and its cons. As a result of this experience, I have one of the best debloat lists out there, with each item on the debloat list, being tested, literally through trial and error for over 4 years, and it goes over every file and every partition known in the OneUI OS. This exact same debloat script was used in Project Pixel, which has recieved positive review after positive review for how efficient and how lightweight OneUI became after the debloat. Today however, I present to you Lightheart OS, a new project that I will be building myself and updating monthly (as I do own an actual Galaxy S10). Lightheart, is essentially built equal to Project Pixel, except that instead of Pixelifying and adding another gigabyte worth of apks, permissions and modules, just stops after the debloating and optimization bit. I have done something similar with the Galaxy Tab S2, and it was called Performante, but it was even more stripped on features than I would have liked myself, so today I showcase Lionheart, the Lineage OS to my Cyanogenmod.
Features:
1. Heavily Debloated System Size - The overall size of the system partition has dropped from 5.2 GB to 3.2 GB, along with RAM consumption dropping from 4.2 GB on stock, to 3.1 GB on Lightheart.
2. Heavily Debloated Product Partition - All bloat has been removed/deprecated from the Product Partition dropping its size from 592 MB to 78 MB
3. Better Battery Performance due to Efficiency - With the removal of an incredible amount of bloat, along with better performance and lesser services, you should be looking at better SOTs and better standby times.
4. Better Performance due to the Cruel Custom Kernel - The Cruel Kernel Team have been kind enough to give me permission and access to their kernel, which in itself has many optimizations, along with the allowance to achieve higher system speeds and overclockabilty via Mtweaks (Needs to be installed seperately, I will provide a link)
5. Preloaded Magisk with Cruel - Cruel Kernel comes preloaded with Magisk, all you have to do is install the Magisk Manager
6. October Patch with the promise of updates every month - As I use this rom as my own daily driver, i will update it every month to keep up with optimizations by Samsung and security patches.
7. Restored some stock Google Permissions - Some stock google framework was restored, such as the default setup wizard.
8. All Essential Samsung Features have been kept - All essential OneUI features have been kept alive, for the sole purpose of necessity.
9. Completely Deknoxed - It is covered under the debloat
Changelog:
1.0 - Initial Release
TWRP Install Instructions:
1. Download the latest available TWRP Image from Ianmcd's thread (the current supported version is 3.4.0.3 and will be linked at the bottom of the thread)
2. Download the custom VBmeta file and install 7Zip.
3. Rename the downloaded TWRP Image as recovery.img.
4. Highlight both the vbmeta.img and recovery.img, then right click while selected, 7Zip and then add to archive.
5. Once your in the 7zip interface, choose .tar and do not change any of the configurations and build the .tar file.
6. For this next bit, you'll need to download Odin 14.4 (links will be provided)
7. Open Odin, and then connect your device via USB.
8. Select AP, and then select the newly made recovery.tar.
9. Once it is loaded, press start, and when it reboots, hold the recovery combination (Power + Volume Up + Bixby) to boot into TWRP.
You have now successfully installed the latest TWRP for your S10 and can now proceed to actual install. Remember that if you are coming from stock you will need to flash the MultiDisabler, linked at the end of the thread.
Install Instructions (THIS ROM IS NOT FLASHABLE!):
1. Download Lightheart 1.0.
2. Open the zip and extract the folder.
3. Switch off your phone, and go into twrp via the button combination.
4. Make a backup of your cache (This will make the directory to TWRP's recovery system)
5. Boot back into the OS and head to where you stored Lightheart 1.0.
6. Cut the entire Lightheart Folder and move it to TWRP/BACKUPS/Random Number/
7. Now boot back into TWRP and wipe system, data, dalvik, cache.
8. Go to the restore option, and you should see Lightheart as a restorable ROM.
9. Restore Lightheart and once your done, boot into system
And thats about it for the install process. It is a bit unconventional, but I have been unable to procure or manufacture a working installer script as of this moment, so please bear with me for now.

I encourage you to ensure to provide sufficient support on XDA. Please check the telegram sticky for more info. Also since this is essentially a TWRP backup I've edited your thread title to indicate this as this should be clear from the get go. Do not re-edit that again unless you're able to have the rom be flashable. Thank you and all the best of luck with your project.
Awesome !! Love it so far. Nice performance, genshin impact is not dropping frames like on other oneui ROMs.
Keep up the good work

Hi,
I would like to use your rom if it means longer battery life. However I have no knowledge of rooting or flashing a galaxy S10 phone. I'm not afraid of the terminal but I'm afraid of loosing access to KBC mobile or Google Pay or any other app that is financially or government involved.
Is it because you say deknoxed that it will have problems with such apps or quite the opposite ?
Another question is, Can Jodin3 be used as well? I only have access to MacOS.
Forgive my English, it's not my mother language.
Kr,
Don't do anything with your phone then if you don't want to loose Google pay etc...
hi ,thx 4 ur hard work, sorry 4 a NOOB question: i have an s10 which is G973N, can i flash this rom?

As long as its not G973U, it should work but I advise caution when flashing a ROM which is not the same model
So far this Rom ist great, the lack of the samsung account makes setting up some apps a bit difficult, but other than that this is awesome!
How are temperatures on this debloated rom?
