Apple Music on 4.4.4 rk3066? - MTCB Android Head Units Q&A

I am running a recent version of Malaysks rk3066 ROM. Apple music wont install on it, PlayStore says its not supported, even though on the page it says it only requires Android 4.3 and up? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apple.android.music&hl=en
Am I missing something / anyone got it to install?

It's not just the chip, it could be the DPI or language.
Just try and grab the APK from APKMirror and install it manually.

I'm curious, why install google keyboard? Isn't it similar enough, feature wise, to the AOSP keyboard? In fact, aren't they the same? I think the google keyboard is for those stock devices that only have the manufacturers custom keyboard installed. You already have it installed on CM11, maybe that's why you're getting an error.

I don't think aosp and google kb are exactly the same.
plus, if it's showing as an update thru play and the error is coming, then not getting the newest fixes&features.
I would check to see that you don't have some version of it being installed by gapps being used or something. one that is themed maybe or customized will usually contain a different signature than the official one.
also, after you delete it and/or uninstall, reboot device before trying to install thru play.

Hey guys, id like to install the Google Keyboard because it has new features that i really like. It doesn not show as an update to the CM11 AOSP keyboard, it is a separete app.
Also restarting after uninstalling/moving the CM11 keyboard's .apk did not help
Any other suggestions on how to get the google apk installed?
Thanks

Does Cardboard Camera work on a Note 2 running KitKat?

Hi guys,
Wonder if someone could do me a favor and try installing Cardboard Camera (Sorry, can't post links yet) on their Note 2?
I have an SGH-T889 running stock Jelly Bean and it tells me that it is incompatible with my phone. Read somewhere that it needs KitKat, but my missus runs KitKat on her (cheap) phone and she can't install it either.
Just wanted to check whether it could actually run before bothering to try flashing a 4.4. ROM.
Many thanks

Thanks but Cardboard Camera 1.0.0.110334691 states Android 4.4+ as minimum, and will not install on my 4.3 Note 2. "There is a problem parsing the package".
Are you saying you can install it on 4.3 or 4.4?
(Note this is Cardboard Camera, not Cardboard which runs fine)

Try it. And if work is not updated to TouchWiz 4.4. You have a T889 t mobile and therefore you are in 4.3? I have this and as no official 4.4 rom use the eclipse v6 4.4 and the phone is faster and has more features
Just to update in case anyone else wondering about this. After 2 solid days of reading, I rooted my phone and installed a 4.4. custom rom (jedi).
Cardboard Camera then installed ok!
Try and take a photo "Unfortunately your device does not reach the minimum requirements" :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
Restored back to stock.

CM13 also doesn't work. I've read somewhere that it's available from Note 4, Note 2 is a lil bit old and specs aren't so great now.

I found the file myself and have uploaded on the cloud to help others in need. In fact this is a newer version of the firmware and working great. I am using this version on the mirror that looks like the one in attached pic.
The firmware can be found at the MEGA link below. Just use Phoenixcard software to burn the sd card as "product", insert the card in mirror and boot. It will load the firmware, takes about a minute, and will turn off. Take the card out, turn on the mirror and all set. Reformat the card as normal and continue using it. If phoenixcard doesnt run on windows 10, try to run in compatibility mode for windows 7.

I dont know why there is a space coming before 0NVc but if you remove that, it will work.
thx thx thx

Tengo una table china android estaba dando todo tipo de errores de firmware. Ahora no consigo el original ...
La version original del firmware era:
v2.0 astar_botton-eng 4.4.2 KVT49L 20150407 test-keys
I have a mirror (identical to RT01 or Phisung Q7) with a newer version of the same firmware (astar_evb-eng 4.4.2 KVT49L 20160510). However, it´s also acting up I'm getting a very basic UI with no app management function or even system info. Can't even select more than one song at a time or build a playlist. CarService stops frequently. Maps and Waze hang all the time. 491 error when trying to download anything from Play Store. Other times I get the "your device isn't compatible with this version" message when trying to update things like Chrome or Google Play Services. Will this older firmware provide a more functional interface and better performance despite being a month older? Thx!

Would the version you uploaded work for me, and could you explain how to do this please?
Many thanks in advance! I want to let my 6 year old use this tablet, and it crashes all the time, and when I connect a pc to it, I can't connect.

Moto G5 not compatible with Android Auto?

I can't find Android Auto on the playstore on my phone, and when I go to the playstore from my PC it tells me that "This app is incompatible with all of your devices."
Is it really incompatible, or maybe this is because Android Auto is not yet available in my country?

As far as I can tell the only requirements for the app itself is android lollipop and above so it probably is geo restricted
Since I don't have your device anymore I can't check
I have included the app in the attachment below though for you to install yourself
It is compatible, I am using it and installed it from play store. Maybe clear the Play store cache? AS pointed out you can also just install the apk (also from apkmirror)
Thanks. Are you using it with the G5 or the G5 Plus?
What is strange is that it is telling me that it is incompatible with my device, and not that it is not available in my country, as it happens with some other apps.
Is it is safe to install it with an .apk, and would I receive updates if I do it that way?

The apk I posted was downloaded by myself from the playstore so totally safe
You would only get updates if It is available in your playstore & even then you may have to uninstall & reinstall depending on app signatures if different in different locations

Thanks. If I can get confirmation that it should work with the moto g5 (not the plus) then I will try it out.
Any reason why Google would have country restrictions on Android Auto? The cars are the same, the apps (maps, music etc) work fine, so why place restrictions on Android Auto? Apple doesn't seem to have any such restriction with Car Play (in my country at least)

Why do you need confirmation to try it? Just try it - it will either install or say app not installed
Like I said the only min requirements is lollipop so no reason why the app won't install
Some apps maybe geo restricted for licensing purposes - if Googling why the app isn't available in your country doesn't come up with anything the only thing you can do is contact the app developer

Lol by all means scan it - decompile it & check it
If you know my reputation around here you know I provide support
I used to be a recognised contributor but left xda for a while
Also I provided the official twrp for this device
So looking through my past posts/threads you will see the kind of support I provide
Of course, I mean you work on twrp for g5 and yet someone still manages to be suspicious
I am not suspicious I just want to know if it actually works! If this is not a country thing, maybe they marked this phone as incompatible for a good reason. I don't yet have a car with Android Auto so I can't fully test it now. Maybe it would run on the phone itself, but then fail to connect to the car (I've seen reports of this happening for several phones including different versions of the Moto G). Or maybe there is some other kind of bug that only shows up once connected to a car...

The only person that can answer your question would be the app developer
Would be quicker & easier to test yourself as the chance of someone with a moto g5 & the car you might have with android auto support would be highly unlikely
In these situations it's always better to just try yourself or contact the app developer for support
I installed the apk that TheFixItMan has provided and it works fine, on both the phone and a car I tried it with for a few minutes. Thanks!
As it was said previously I can't update Android auto from the play store now, so I assume at some point it might stop working properly. Should I just get a new apk every time I need an update?

Yes just get the latest apk
As long as it's just the version that is on the playstore (unmodified) like I provided you can just update it without having to uninstall previous version

You're not very helpful
Since I've been seeking and downloading stuff and tried and tried but I'm stuck with a old update, so, I downloaded
9.0 update
S920 Version : PX30 HCT4_px30_9.0_ota(20190614) https://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/86kpcg
From this forum link
Update goes fine but I had a problem with Google Play Store being stuck on "Checking info"
Went back to a previous build ISD_px30_9.0_ota(20190410).zip
From 4pda
And everything is working perfectly.
Now my question is the same from the start of this topic, is there other specific update for my PX30.
Thanks in advance
Regards
David

Hi Biraghi,
Did your unit come with Android 9 already installed? Or did you update it from 8?
I am hesitant about updating as some people are reporting boot loops or other problems?
Thanks

Hi, the unit was with Android 9 pre-installed, I tried various update but never had boot loops.
When I installed HCT4_px30_9.0_ota(20190614) the only thing wasn't working was Google play that was stuck in the checking info after I put my details.
As now I don't have the car aka the android unit I can't say no more.
