Huawei Nova Plus - Phone Backup and Restore Guide - Huawei Nova/Nova Plus Guides, News, & Discussion

1. Choosing a Backup Tool
Back up your files easily, meaning you'll never lose your data again. Huawei provides phone backup and Huawei HiSuite, comprehensively protecting your data.
Scene one:
With so many useful tools, how should you choose the one most suited to your needs? When your phone has an SD card installed, it is recommended that you use Huawei's backup feature, which allows you to easily back up your contacts, photos, and all your apps and their data.
Scene two:
What if you don't have an SD card or a new phone? Don't worry: There is always HiSuite, allowing you to save your data to your computer. Once you have repaired your phone you can recover your data.
2. Phone Backup
2.1 Backup
You might easily overlook the backup app, but once you use it, you'll discover just how powerful and useful it is. Find the Backup app on your home screen.

}
Choose the location to which you want to back up your data, and touch Next. On the Select data screen, depending on your needs, you can choose the data you want to back up. After you have completed your selection, touch Back up to begin.
Your phone will back up differently depending on the type of data you want to back up. If the data includes Contacts, Messaging, or Call log, the system will prompt you to set a password. After you set one, touch Next or you can touch Skip if you don't want to set a password. The following example is for a user who wishes to set a password. After this is complete, touch Next to begin backup.
2.2 Restore
Once you have simply and easily backed up your data, how do you restore it? As before, go into the Backup app, touch Restore, choose the source of the data to be restored, and touch Next.
If you have set a password for your backup data, when you restore your data you will need to enter your password and then touch OK to access the Select data screen. If you did not set a password when you backed up your data, you will access the Select data screen directly. Select the data to be restored and then touch Start restoration.
After you touch Start restoration, a Select data dialog box will pop up. You can choose a location to restore your backed up data from Videos, Photos, Audio, and other locations. Once you have made your choice, touch OK to begin restoration.
In this way, you can easily and quickly complete data backup and restoration.
Note: In the preceding procedures, the latest version of Huawei phone backup is used. When conducting a backup, follow the actual onscreen instructions of the backup function on your phone. Different phone brands may use different formats during backup, leading to unsuccessful backup and restoration. Please check your phone.
3. Huawei HiSuite
3.1 Connecting Your Phone to HiSuite
1. Run HiSuite on your computer desktop.
Connecting and recognizing your phone: In general cases, your phone is set to enable HDB so there is no need to turn on USB debugging. You can connect your phone to the computer using a USB cable. If you cannot connect, check whether your phone has HDB enabled. If your phone does not have HDB, turn on USB debugging manually and connect to your computer. See section 3.2 "Enabling HDB" for more details on the steps required to enable HDB. See section 3.3 "Enabling USB Debugging" for details on how to enable USB debugging.
After a connection is set up successfully, the screen shown in the following figure is displayed.
3.2 Enabling HDB
2. In Advanced settings, touch Security, and then turn on Allow HiSuite to use HDB. The phone can then connect to your computer.
3. Go to Settings > Apps > HiSuite. Touch Permissions and select the required app permissions.
3.3 Enabling USB Debugging
If your phone does not have HDB, manually enable USB debugging.
1. Go to Settings > About Phone. Once you find the model number, touch it seven times and then there will be a message "You are now a developer!" This means you have turned on Developer options.
2. Go back to Settings, touch the newly displayed Developer options, and turn on USB debugging.
3.4 Backup
Touch Home, then Back up, and then select the data you want to back up.
On the data backup page, select Alarms, Weather, or other content as required. Select a backup path and then touch Back up to begin.
The system will prompt you to set a password. You can choose to set a password and then touch Next, or you can touch Skip to avoid setting a password.
When backup completes, there will be a notification: Complete.
3.5 Restoration
On the home page of HiSuite, touch Restore to access the restoration page.
On the data restore page, you can select the data to be restored as required, and then touch Restore.
When data backup is complete, there will be a notification: Complete.

[Q] NFL 2011 App

I went to go download the NFL 2011 application from the market today but it doesn't show up. Does any one happen to know why? Just curious hopefully it starts showing up soon.
I notice the same thing, and 12 won't show up either.

Think I figured out why I don't see the app, if you go to the android market website (not the app). Then go to "My Devices" it has nothing for my carrier. Not sure why, I will stay off wifi and see if it updates.
I was able to download the app. It's actually really polished and quick for checking up on scores without having to sift through interface.
Downloaded it Friday just fine from the market on my phone

I have resolved this issue and wanted to post what was found for any one else that may have this issue. The root cause of the issue ended up being the carrier (sprint) was not identified for the device. You could see this by logging into the android market website and looking at "My Devices" under "My Account". I contacted support and they replied with the below. I performed all of the steps they gave with the exception factory reset. This corrected my issue and caused Sprint to now show up under carriers and I was able to download the application with no problem.
I know this is long but I hope it helps someone out there.
*** Steps from Google Support ****
1. Go to your device’s app launcher, and press the Talk app
2. If you’re already logged into Talk, press Menu, and then touch Sign out
3. Launch Talk again to sign in (if you are unable to sign in, please let me know)
- Try your download(s) using both WiFi and network (3G/4G) connections
- Uninstall Market updates by visiting:
Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications, selecting "Market" under the "All" tab or filter and touching "Uninstall updates"
- Unmount and remount the SD card:
Menu > Settings > Storage > Unmount SD card; then Remount SD card from the same menu, or restart the device if the remount option isn't available
If the above steps don't resolve the problem I recommend you perform a factory reset on your device. Please note that this will reset your device to its original state. While your media content (photos, music, etc.) will not be deleted from the SD card, applications and their related data will be uninstalled.
Before the factory reset, make sure that your contacts are synced to your Google account by logging into Gmail from a computer and verifying if your contacts appear there. If your contacts are not synced, then I recommend updating your sync settings at Settings > Accounts and Sync and choosing either AutoSync or touching the account you would like to sync and choosing "Sync Contacts."
Along with syncing contacts, please back up any important application data and/or settings by navigating to Settings > Privacy and selecting "Back up my data'"and "Automatic restore."
To perform a factory reset:
1) Go to Home > Menu > Settings > Privacy (or Phone storage; depends on the device)
2) Press "Factory data reset"
3) Press "Reset phone"
After you perform the factory reset, make sure you sign into your device with the same primary Google Account you were using before. If you have any questions or concerns before performing the reset, or if doing so does not resolve the issue, please let me know so I can continue to investigate the issue.
It didn't show up for me the first day the phone came out but I checked yesterday and it was there and downloaded it fine.

Lose your Android device, either to theft or your own forgetfulness, is certainly not fun, that's what happened to my wife last month with my Nexus 7 3G. Google has finally released its response to the loss or theft of your Androphone with Android Device Manager.
It should hit your device soon, if not already, to help you locate or wipe (factory reset) your Android device lost. Here's how to use it.
INSTALL
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Android Device Manager will automatically hit your device without having to do a thing. If you don't have it yet, you will soon receive. But before you can take full advantage of ADM, you will need to do some things, such as allowing factory reset on your device. Its implementation is quite simple..
First, visit google.com/android/devicemanager.
and if you want you can download the apk => com.google.android.gms-1.apk - MD5 Sum: d1884b750aff2dc3ff435f95510420cb - Size: 7.30 MB (7649893 bytes)
From there, a map will pop up with some information about your device, along with a prompt to enable the Erase Device function of ADM. You can either manually open up the green Google Settings app, which should be in your app drawer, or use the send notification link on the ADM webpage, giving you an easy way to find exactly where you need to be to enable remote factory reset.
If you don’t use the notification, just open Google Settings, and select Android Device Manager.
The option to toggle both the ability to factory reset your phone from ADM, and locate it, will be in there.
Using ADM
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
After you’ve done that, you’re ready to set to go. At the moment, there are three main functions of Android Device Manager. You can ring a lost phone, factory reset a lost phone or locate your device on a map using your phone's GPS. You can also rename what your device appears as in ADM.
Simply you can load ADM online and will show you the location of your device, but if you’re tracking it while it’s on the move, there’s a refresh button that will recalculate your device’s location.
If your device is located somewhere simply, like in your own house, you may want to use the Ring function. As Google explains, even if your phone is on silent, using the ring function in ADM will force your phone to ring at full volume for five minutes. To turn it off, you have to press the power button on your phone.
There’s nothing on your device indicating why it’s ringing, you’d have to know how to stop the ringing or play around to figure it out.
If you believe your device has been stolen, and you have some precious information on it, then the Erase Device function will come in handy. After you click Erase Device, a pop up will tell you what it will erase (essentially everything), and what will happen after that.
Unfortunately, Google says it “may not be able to wipe the content of the SD card in your device.” Best of luck if you have anything private on there.
If your device is off when you try to factory reset it, have no fear. The moment it’s turned on, it will be erased.
You may think erasing the content of your device is the best thing to do as soon as you find it’s missing, but you may want to hold on. After you erase your device, ADM will not work anymore.
Conclusion:

Click to collapse
For the moment, that’s all there is to it. As with all of Google’s products, we expect to see more features added in time and more practice
Thanks to Androidandme
I'm sticking with cerberus for a while. But I guess ADM may become even better in a few months
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I wish there was an option to set a pin on the phone remotely.
When I login to android device manager web site, how come my phone was not listed there?
Sorry If I'm asking this Question in the wrong section but whenever I locate my device, ADM send a notification to my device which seems to be quite silly as if my phone is stolen, the thief will be able to see this notification and may turn off ADM completely. Any suggestions to turn off the notifications??
I've already remove ticked from show notifications by going to Settings =.> Apps... that didn't work out

[GUIDE] [G781U] Install Android 12 without carrier update

Hi there,
I normally don't make threads, post comments, etc. I've been into modding devices and changing things for some time now, however. I was annoyed that AT&T decided that they're either not going to release Android 12 or they're being slow and lazy, so I did what I used to do and manually updated. Here's how I did it. Sorry in advance if this is poorly formatted.
This guide is aimed towards people who are new in this field and/or just want to update already. Tested on AT&T variant of the S20 FE.
Note: I only have a Windows machine. This guide REQUIRES the use of a computer at the least, and this is written from the perspective of Windows users. I cannot help you if you are on MacOS or Linux.
1. Prep work
Download Frija 1.4.4. In the model text field, enter SM-G781U. In the CSC field, enter a carrier code which supports your carriers network. For example, AT&T uses GSM, so does T-Mobile. AT&T hasn't released Android 12 yet but T-Mobile has, so I used T-Mobile. Here's a few major carrier CSC codes.
VZW - Verizon Wireless
ATT - AT&T
TMB - T-Mobile
Once you've done the above, leave the "Auto" setting ticked and click on "Check Update". Frija should auto-fill ther Version, Size, OS, and Filename fields when it sees the update from the other carrier. Click Download.
Frija is now downloading Android 12 via the other carrier. This will take some time to complete.
While Frija downloads Android 12, head over to this thread and download Odin V3.14.1.zip. I wouldn't recommend the patched version, just use the normal one. Unzip this to somewhere you'll remember and in its own folder for organization purposes. You'll need it later.
Next, unlock your phone, remove your Pin, Fingerprints, Google account(s), and Samsung account, as they could hinder your ability to unlock your phone until the process is complete later on, as I learned.
If you have the Secure Folder enabled and use it, back up all data in it now. Do the same for anything you care about on internal storage. It will likely be lost otherwise.
2. Installation
I will reiterate once more, back up any data on Internal Storage and Secure Folder that you care about or it may be lost. I am not responsible for lost data. I will not help you if you didn't read and lost your data.
With that in mind, we'll begin with the installation process of Android 12. We'll do this as simply as I know how, and how I've done installs like this for years. You'll need a USB-C cable that's capable of Data transport. The one that came in the box should work fine, but so should most other cables. Basically, if your computer can see your phone, you're good.
Unlock your device, head down to About Phone -> Software Information and tap the build number until Developer Mode is enabled. It may ask for your pin/passcode/pattern if you haven't removed those yet.
If you don't know how to use ADB, you can enter Download mode via hardware keys. Please Google this.
Go back to the main settings screen, scroll down past what you thought was the end, and tap Developer Options. Enable USB Debugging and close settings. Connect your device to your computer, and allow the USB Debugging prompt making sure to tick Always Allow. Open a Command Prompt with ADB access and type "adb reboot download". This will immediately reboot your device to Odin Download Mode.
From here, open Odin, which you downloaded above. Unzip the file Frija downloaded to the same folder as Odin for organization. You'll end up with 6 files, each beginning with an abbreviation. You will only need 4 of these, they are as follows:
AP_
BL_
CP_
CSC_OYN_
You will not need the files beginning with HOME or USERDATA.
Within Odin, click the BL button. Select the file beginning with BL_. Then click the AP button, and select the file beginning with AP_, and so on. Odin will "verify" these files as you select them, and may appear unresponsive for some, in particular the AP_ file may take some time to verify. If you receive a not responding prompt from Windows, click wait.
Once all 4 files are selected, your phone is in Download mode, and Odin sees your phone (shown in the ID:COM field), press Start. This will now flash Android 12 to your device. This will take some time. Do not unplug your device until this process is complete! Doing so could result in a soft (or possibly hard) brick! When Odin completes the flash, you'll first see it say "RESET" then "PASS!". At the end, Odin should look something like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
At this point, your device will now reboot. It should reboot straight into recovery, where it is now advised to Wipe Cache Partition, then Wipe Data/Factory Reset. You can use the volume keys to navigate the menu, and the power button to select. If you haven't backed up your data yet, this will be your last chance to do so, and you can reboot to Android by selecting the Reboot option at the top.
Failing to Wipe Cache and Factory Reset will most likely result in broken features, including but not limited to the ability to recieve Calls, Texts, use Mobile Data, or change your passcode/fingerprints.
Once you've finished Wiping Cache and Factory Resetting, you can reboot your device. Android will take some time to boot, and when it does you'll be prompted with your carriers boot screen, followed by the initial setup wizard for Android 12.
At this time, you've completed the process. Android 12 is installed and all functionality should be there. You can now restore your data from the backups you made and continue about your day with Android 12.
Hope this helped.
This is great. Did you lose any functionality like wifi calling or tethering?

How To Guide How to transfer files to / from watch via Wi-Fi (even if you are not at home)

To send to the watch and/or receive from the watch files (e.g. music) the easiest way is through the USB cable, but there are some watches, like Pixel Watch that can only be sent through the Wi-Fi network (Google does not include USB data cable with the watch, although @shinyquagsire23 has already built a homemade USB cable, and it worked).
A. How to transfer files with NavExplorer
It is possible to remotely access the watch from your computer or phone wirelessly, using the FTP protocol. You can copy the files you have stored in the internal storage of the watch to the computer, or send files from the computer to the watch, like music, videos, texts, etc. The only requirement is that both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
To do this, follow the steps below:
Download from the Play Store and install the NavExplorer application on the watch. The app is somewhat abandoned, and is not currently available on Play Store, you can download the APK from here and install it by sideload.
Open app and go to the top menu, click on the Wi-Fi icon.
It shows you an address with the structure: ftp://Watch_IP:2122. This activates the FTP server.
If you would like to access from...
From the computer, open Windows Explorer, and in the upper part of the window, in the folder path, type the address of point 3.
From the phone, use an advanced file manager, for example Solid Explorer. Open the application, select Storage Manager > "+" > FTP, and follow the instructions, basically put the address and the port number, which is 2122.

}
B. How to transfer files with Bugjaeger Mobile ADB
Another alternative, in this case from the phone and via Wi-Fi, is to use Bugjaeger Mobile ADB app. You don't need to install anything on the watch, the app is an adb command emulator that can be run from an android phone. To connect and be able to run the functions, just do the following:
On the watch, go to Settings > System > About and tap "Build number" several times until you see a message that says "you are now a developer". Then go to Settings > Developer options and enable "ADB debugging" and "Debugging over Wi-Fi".
Make sure both your watch and mobile are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, momentarily disable Bluetooth on your watch if Wi-Fi is not enabled on the watch. Now go to Settings > Connectivity > Wifi, click on the network you are connected to and enter the IP of your network.
In Bugjaeger app on your phone, click on the plug icon, enter the IP of your network and click "Connect".
When connected, you will see a notification appear on your watch where you have to give permission to link the phone to the watch, so click on "Always allow from this computer". Now in the app you will see the notification "Connected" and you will see the list of apps that are on the watch.

C. How to send files to the watch without Wi-Fi network (from outside the home).
It happens that there are times when you are not at home, and you want to send music to the watch or send an APK file to install it. The solution to this is by activating the shared Wi-Fi connection of the phone, and pretend it is your home network.
On the phone, go to settings > Other wireless connections and turn on "Wi-Fi data sharing".
Within the Wi-Fi data sharing settings, replace the Wi-Fi network name and password and enter the same name and password as your home Wi-Fi network, this way the watch will connect automatically, and you won't need to enter the password on the watch.
Now, on the watch and if you haven't already done so, go to Settings > System > About and tap "Build number" several times until you see a message that says "you are now a developer". Next go to Settings > Developer options and enable "ADB debugging" and "Debugging over Wi-Fi".
Next make sure both your watch and phone are connected to the same wifi network, momentarily disable bluetooth on your watch if Wi-Fi is not enabled on the watch. Now go to Settings > Connectivity > Wifi, click on the network you are connected to and enter the IP you will see.
On your phone, install Bugjaeger (if you haven't already) and run it, click on the plug icon, enter the IP of your network and click "Connect".
When connected, you will see a notification appear on your watch where you have to give permission to link the phone to the watch, so click on "Always allow from this computer". Now in the app you will see the "Connected" notification and from the app you will be able to send files (Files tab) or install APKs (Packages tab).
