I'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus and I really want to put Lineage OS on it.
However, I'm also using the first party S View cover on it.
So will Lineage OS still support that cover and show the S View screen when the cover is closed and I press the unlock button?

It doesn't support S View exactly as that is Samsung proprietary but it has the same function called Flip Cover, you need to fit cover and flip open and closed at least once before settings are available, I read

I just started to use Mahdi ROM on my gpad this week, and I find it great for the moment the only thing is that i can't get the smart cover to work....
Any ideas ?
It works but for me opening cover only turns on the screen but does not unlock it.
Also the IVSO cover I use seems to have magnets all over and when I fold the front cover over the back the magnets close the lcd screen so I have to leave it open and hanging which is less than idral

I'm using the latest Mahdi update along with the IVSO cover and it's working flawlessly. It unlocks and locks immediately when opening and closing the cover.
Do you use a lock screen

When i have it on slide to unlock when opening the cover the screen lights up but i am on the lockscreen and must swipe to unlock it.
When I was on the stock LG ROM, this was not the default behavior, it would unlock straight into the home screen when opening the cover.
I'm running the lockscreen that come with the ROM with swipe to unlock. Is there any settings for the smart cover ?

Running CM11 latest nightly with IVSO cover, I was able to use the smart cover until I flashed Dyn.Kernel r2 kernel to it. I then thought that the other kernel (GPE port) might restore the functionality, nope. It seems like the different kernels are breaking smart cover compatibility somehow. I can only assume the same thing is happening with Mahdi and its CM dependencies.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini CM11 Official M12 Stable
Every now and then my phone will switch to a lock screen that just shows the time, date weather, battery, etc. on a plan black screen, that will accept no touch input except to bring down the notifications bar, and it will switch off after a second or two, even if I am touching the screen.
This works quite nicely with my cover which has one of those little windows in the right place to see this info.
Funny thing is its only when it is in this mode will it switch on the screen while the cover is closed, normal lockscreen wont switch on till I have opened the cover.
One problem is I can't get out of that black lock screen without restarting my phone, this screen comes on randomly every now and then?
Edit: Question is, how do I get in and out of the screen?
You know it if you use an original ROM (Kitkat 4.4.2) this will be ok, right? I'm just saying because it's possible to use kitkat 4.4.2 original on 9190-9192-9195 how i used to use.
Now i'm using an unofficial rom (5.0.2) and it's good. Still in test but i try to update everyday. Try to change your rom for an updated version, just if you don't wanna an original rom.

Sorry, I guess I shouldn't have beaten around the bush, I love the Rom, I just want to know how one usually gets out that screen.
Check @leripe ROM , i don't know which is your device, if isn't mine you shoulda check. But if is, check @k2wl ROM .
Use only a recent ROM. Any question you have to ask in they Q&A.

Take a look at these posts. It is the "Smart View" screen. It should activate only if there are any magnets near the phone.

Hey guys! I recently ordered a P600, and have been looking for a Nougat rom that has full S-Pen support, with Air Command specifically. Sadly, in all the third party ports they simply have the button floating on the screen, not appearing when you click the button on the S-Pen. Is there another app that works like this, or is somebody working on porting the tab S3 rom? Thanks in advance

I wanted to go to Android 9 so installed Carbon 7.0 on my Motorola G5 Plus. I like it a lot but in stock Motorola (through the Moto App) I was able to use my fingerprint reader to do "one button navigation". I am not able to find how I can set this up under the custom rom. Does anyone have any experience or help in doing this? I turned on the gestures in the android settings but that just results on a pill on the bottom of my screen and would like to go back to using my fingerprint reader. Thanks for your help and if I am posting this incorrectly please let me know!

This forum is for Moto g5(Cedric) not for Moto g5+(potter) you can post your questions there. If you want finger print guester then you can get in the pixel experience ROM(potter), you just need to set how it works such as (right to left)recent and other functions to get it work.
Want to start off by saying, yes I've searched, yes I've tried the apps that people have recommended here and else where. I am looking for the best possible solution to my dilemma. I had a s8. I used the edge action (etc), simply for the screen capture and instant cropping of a picture or, making something into a gif.
I've found, online, the various versions of the "app" that samsung put out but, none of which will install on my US version a50.
Is there a way that this can be side loaded or, is there someone that can bake it into a rom instead?
Side note, the apps available on the play store and the galaxy store, suck.

For me , better is edge panels apk from samsung a71. Yesterday get one for wife and edge panel from a71 is that I wanna now in A50. Maybe someone do a port.
