Back in the MM release days I made a guide about flashing G Rom to F device with . I don't know if it works for nougat the same way, but I think it's worth a try. BUT DONT BLAME ME IF IT BRICKS YOUR DEVICE!
I don't know if there are significant changes. I will try it though.

This is an OXM firmware. You can flash it on any Galaxy A8 Plus, all you have to make sure is that the model number is A730F regardless of the region.
Flash the firmware via Odin by adding AP to AP, CP to CP, BL to BL, and CSC or Home_CSC to CSC.
CSC will wipe your phone. Home_CSC will not. Choose accordingly.

How to update
Change the file name to UL-ASUS_I01WD-ASUS-18.0610.2106.156-1.1.1-user.zip (only needed for ota file) and put this file into root of internal memory.

I checked for updates on mine and got the 194 update right away. Surprised this didn't have the October security patch in it... but I suppose that might be a lot to ask.
Thank you for WW 194 link. I was able to manually upgrade Partition B (putting the update in root and restarting phone - I got the official update prompt), then use Magisk Manager to patch it while I still had Magisk on Partition A (WW 189) - this was crazy cool. Didn't even need to plug my phone into a PC!

Thanks for this tip, worked like a charm!
I installed the update by putting the zip in the root of internal storage and then - without restarting - directly opened Magisk Manager to click install and choose the option to "Install to inactive slot (after OTA)"
Maybe I'm late to the party, but I never knew Magisk had this option. It beats having to manually extract, patch and flash boot.img by a landslide :good:
Which Magisk versions are working with latest .194 please?

No "1906" means security update for June 2019 which is really old. The latest version is WW_16.1220.1909.194_0 with September security update and we are waiting for the next update with at least October security update or even Android 10 major update.

Oh this is interesting to know that it's referred to security patch. I usually was reading about security patch on release news but is useful to read from the file name.
But it would have been even more weird if they had released (for US) now an update with June patch.
They had June patch in August like in EU (beginning of August).

Thank to this thread I was able to update my phone yesterday. It was at WW_16.1220.1908.189_0 for a while now.
Also, can anyone here help answering me this: Why is my phone not auto update these new versions of its firmware? Only until some apps not working that I noticed the firmware is outdated. I bought it secondhand, it was rooted but I reset it with the buyer's help. Is that why or does phone now need to be updated manually?
If this is not the place to ask this, I am sorry. People here seem to be well verse in this topic, so...

Maybe your Bootloader is still unlocked and you have to lock it again to get OTA update.
New update Android 10 is here.

just replied to your similar complain elsewhere... Am on android 8 unrooted and 300+ apps and hell of a lot of other stuff and no such issues... so may be there is more wrong with the phone than you realise....

Hello, since a manual firmware update from Sammobile for my SM-G9860, I have not received any more security updates. Likewise, information on the firmware is no longer available?

I have TGY but there is no september patch update. As you can see on sammobile https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s20-plus/firmware/#SM-G9860 .

This one seems to be only for Beta testers as it is just around 300 MB . They should be pushing a stable build for non beta testers soon .
In EU (netherlands/germany) they say november full srable version will come. I also will sideload (and root) the rom trough Odin.
A later build, BVK5, is now rolling out to all users in South Korea on their Fold4, F936N, and Flip4, F721N, devices.

What is the difference between SM-F936N (Korea) and SM-F936B version. When I had note 20 ultra, there was one version and I could flash KOO CSC files on my Indian note ultra.
In this case I don't think I can do that.
