Hi!
Since the first (official) upgrade to Android 7, and even now with the new 7.1, I've been having this issue everytime I use any of these apps.
I always used runkeeper to track my mtb trails and it always worked perfectly. When this started to happen once, twice, etc, I decided to change to Strava, as I assumed it was an app problem.
The same thing happened on strava!
This situation happens on a random time (it happened once after 10 minutes of use, it happened other time after 2 hours of use, completely random). I have kept with strava as, after a force close, when I open the app again, it recognizes that a problem has happened and it restarts from the last recorded place.
Anyhow, this is a very annoying situation, as if I don't notice that the app closed, I will loose most of the trail.
I have disabled "Agressive doze & app hibernation".
Any other ideas?
Thanks
I have the same on 8.0. Compleate stopper for using OP.
All fitnes apps that use gps stop after 10 or 20 or 30 min of bacground work.
Also i use heart rate sensor and it does not restarts itself. It stales Bluetooth and you can not reconnect hr sensor without rebooting device
Considering to swith to Samsung)
Try turning battery optimization off in settings for those apps. I am not sure if this works but give it a try.

I've got a huge problem with my Desire HD that just drives me crazy and still I don't know what to do about it - googled for hours, haven't found anything but unfinished threads.
It started a while ago, I had a ICS - Aokp installed. Some day, WiFi turned off and when I tried to turn it back on, it either remained in the "Turning WiFi on..."-state or gave me an "WiFi Error". Also, the whole OS slowed down terrible.
I installed a 2.3.7 Sense ROM. Worked for a few days, I think. Then one time, the phone froze and after reboot, the WiFi Error occured again.
Switched to Virtuous Infinity v1.31.0. Worked fine for maybe a day, froze, same error. And worst of all, it slew down more than before. Example: Unlocking Screen -> (3 Seconds) -> Displays GUI -> Whatsapp Link -> 10+ Seconds -> displays WhatsApp - but that's not even the end, try to enter text when it displays 1 sign per second. You finish typing, wait 15 seconds to hit the "send"-button.
2 hours ago i installed JellyBean (4.1.1). Without it freezing, WiFi just turned off an won't turn on again. I rebooted, while bootanimation, it froze. I took out the battery, rebooted - it doesn't run as smooth as it did before and WiFi still won't work again. I think in the next 14 days it will slow down again like it did before. It's like there would be processes in the background that need the entire CPU power, but anyway i monitored CPU usage using SystemPanel. There was no CPU usage recorded. I killed apps, no difference. I also intended to monitor the CPU speed, but it wasn't possible with the previous kernel.
Do you have any suggestions, what i could do? Right now, i just want to smash my phone.. it's not dependable. Sometimes my phone rings but won't turn on the screen cause of the stability problems .. I am through so many Android versions, I'm just tired of installing new roms every 2 weeks so i can still use my phone.

Yeah, its true. It slipped my mind. Probably this particular portion of the software was developed at the last moment, and they didn't have enough time to test it thoroughly
I have narrowed my wifi drop outs to the beyond pod app.
My camera won't focus after updating. I had the problem prior, but did the alcohol microfiber run to get the coating off and it was working great. After I updated the camera now seems like it won't focus, only objects within 5 inches are in focus. I did a factory reset and made sure that the camera wasn't set to macro mode. Nothing is working to fix this problem. I think my camera might just be broken now.

Now after a few days i think that the battery cannot hold on so long as with 4.4.2. Previously i could run it two days with moderate use, now the battery level drops to 20% after 24 hours.
At the update the battery was not fully charged. Is this behavior normal after the update, did i make a mistake, or does anybody else have the same problem?
I'm on 19% after 13 hours. WTF is going on? I cannot see any suspicious app causing this. Can i revert to 4.4.2? LOL...

I have (or had) the same problem as you with the new update. Try clearing the cache partition (that's what I've been told). I'm still keeping my eye on the battery to see if it's fixed. The problem for me was that Android Kernel and Android System was using too much battery.
Here are some screenshots:

These battery results are pretty bad compared to what I was getting prior to 4.4.3 (i got 2d5h once with 4h on screen and 7 hours awake).
Hi! I think i was able to fix it, the issue appeared on other devices which received 4.4.3. I cleared the cache for Google Play Store and for GP Services. Now i'm at 50% after 20 hours.

just tried that and hoping it works. I've tried turning off fast boot but having the same issues others are reporting also.
here is a post from another user:
Hi, everyone, this is my first time here, so bear with me. On Wednesday, August 28, I downloaded the new Kit Kat 4.4.3 update from AT&T onto my One M8. Right after and for a few hours after, everything was in great condition as always. I've had my M8 since launch and haven't had a problem since and hold it very dear to me. Then, after about four hours, I noticed the phone was getting hot, really hot. I had power saver on as always and I saw that the CPU was taxed at 97%, just having Instagram running and YouTube actively showing a video. So I restarted the phone, clearing the cache and making sure that nothing was working too hard. That's when the problems really started coming up. It was getting hot but I ignored it and went to the Play Store to update my banking app and download Reddit News. After seven minutes of a normally one minute (if that) update, I stopped the download, cleared the cache and tried again. Nothing. So Google Play won't download, update, or install apps, Google, or third-party. That's not all. Hangouts will not send messages. Even in full LTE connectivity and 5 GHz Wifi AC, message could not send both to Android users (one used messages, the other Hangouts) and to an iPhone. It was like deja vu with my old iPhone 4S. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. YouTube was giving me hell, too. When I would type into the search bar to search for a video, the search bar would clear. For example, if I'm looking up and type into the search bar on YouTube "Linus Tech Tips," then it'll work. But if after that I backspace or "x" out "Linus Tech Tips," and type something else, say, "Build a Gaming PC," If I use Swype (Swiftkey, Google Keyboard, or HTC Sense), the first word shows up, but as I'm typing, the subsequent words are erased and "Linus Tech Tips" shows up in the search bar (check him out if you don't already). This is EXTREMELY frustrating and now I can't watch The Joy of Painting. Damn. Finally, the CPU and heat I mentioned before is crazy. The CPU is always between 79% and 99% at all times. the RAM is usually at about 75% as normal, but the CPU is running nuclear hot. It's going to 105-115 degrees Fahrenheit. This worries me, all of this, because I wonder if this is the fault of the new 4.4.3 update for the AT&T M8 model or maybe underlying causes. I've had Malwarebytes scan my phone and find nothing. That caches are cleared and nothing seems to work. If anyone can help I would be extremely grateful because my only option in my mind is to do a hard factory reset of the device. Thanks to anoye who can help, and if not, then, oh well. Thanks, and sorry I made an essay out of this, this is really a big problem for me.
another user just posted:
Well, I think that the factory reset fixed it. It's been over an hour now, and the phone isn't overheating anymore. Battery life has only dropped 2% in that hour instead of the 2% every five minutes after the update.
After the 4.4.3 update the camera's manual mode doesnt change the exposure the same way as it did in 4.4.2 so i cant see the pics in the viewfinder at night before i actually take the pic and look at it, and that really sucks.
So far my OP3 has mostly been rock solid and I've generally been very happy.
The only issue I've had is 3 times now (twice within a short period, and once today) the phone has spontaneously rebooted whilst using Waze.
All times the phone has been in a mount and charging (standard, not dash charging). Today it was fully charged and the phone didn't feel particularly hot, warm but nothing ridiculous.
Has anyone else had a similar occurrence?
I had the same thing happen to me while using google maps. It happened a total of 3 times and the last time I noticed it was because of the windshield mount pressing on the power button. Lol. Not sure of the other 2 times were for the same reason.

Hi, I have the same experience. While using Waze, I got already 3 random reboots. It was always, while the phone was being charged (not dash charger). Then I went for a longer trip (about 7 hours) and was charging the phone from a powerbank with 2,1A output and the phone didn't restart while using Waze for about 7 hours
Now I'm on OP3Lite ROM with ElementalX kernel and didn't have the issue with rebooting while using Waze for more than a week. So maybe the issue is in the stock Kernel, while being charged "slowly" from the car :-/
Hey me too. i have random reboot when using google maps, it happen more than 3 times in less than 30 minutes.
But i dont charge my phone, just use it while driving.
i have not tried flash custom kernel yet, maybe i will give it a try.
lets see if this problem still happen..
I can confirm that this is happening in Google Maps, too. So is it a bug with GPS?

I've experienced the same issue but in my case the phone felt very hot making me believe it shut itself down due to overheating. It only seems to happen while using GPS with the screen on and charging from the car for prolonged periods of time.
Rebooted when using Google Maps and Radardroid.
5-6 Reboots in 2 hours .
No troubles in 6-7 hours before.
Reboots with and without original car charger.

I have exactly the same issue. Yesterday I had four maybe five restarts in ten minutes when I drive with waze so then I tryed google navigation and restart again.
All without charging. Week before I drove about eight hours with waze and no problem.
This issue is really irritating especialy when is one using navigation in unknown city.
Anyone have a solution?
Same here, but only on long trips
The same thing happened to me on a recent long journey, but never happens when commuting.
My usual commute is about 45 minutes, and I always drive with the Waze app open and navigating, so I get notified of hazards. The phone has never crashed in that situation
However, on a recent longer trip, the phone rebooted after about an hour of use, and when I re-started the Waze app, the phone kept crashing at about 10-15 minute intervals.
This makes me think that something is overheating in the GPS chipset, or perhaps there is a memory leak or suchlike in the GPS ASIC, and it does not get restarted when the phone crashes.
Exact same issue. Looks like a lemon. Filed RMA with OPO, will be returning the phone. This is all after their "update" to fix random reboots. Never rooted, either. Will be going to back to my faithful OnePlus One.

I had the random reboots happen before moving to CyanogenMod. Haven't had it since and I use GPS all the time. It's been really hot here and the phone is often right in the sun when I'm using GPS with no a/c pointing at it... Never an issue with overheating.
It's sounds like a software bug.

This has been happening to me also. I'm using cyanogenmod and I wasn't charging it at the time. As soon as waze is stopped the phone doesn't restart.
I am also having problem with waze, no root, rom 3.2.7. I also play Pokamon Go with GPS and it does not reboot, hopefully someone can find out what is happening soon. At the mean time, I change the location mode to "Device only" and see does it make any difference.
Yes, I experienced the same problem today. Phone charging using std USB car charger and reboots happening with both Ware and Google maps. Happened 4 times with an interval of about 20 minutes between reboots. Never happened before and I doubt an over heating issue.
used to happen to me on OOS 3.2.6/7/8 with Google Maps when playing music (with or without android auto).
since switching over to the OOS nougat beta builds, i haven't seen this issue again
Over the past few months, I've noticed that some standard functions of my phone routinely fail and no longer seem to work properly until I reboot and/or wait a certain number of days until they magically start to work again (only to break again).
1) The auto-adjust sensor is waaaaay off at gauging ambient light. Whenever I'm in bright, sunny environments (like outdoors or by a window with sun coming through it), the brightness and backlight adjust to the lowest level so that it looks like my screen isn't on. The opposite happens whenever I'm in a room with low or no lighting, making it look like a supernova is in my hand and hurting my eyes. In the past, the sensor would eventually adjust to correctly accommodate the lighting, but now it just doesn't.
2) A large number of apps that are set up for fingerprint login immediately give me an error notification that I've exceeded my fingerprint login attempts whenever I open them, forcing me to instead log in with a pin number. Closing and reopening these apps doesn't fix the error, rebooting doesn't fix it, and clearing the app's cache and/or data doesn't fix it. I just have to wait it out until it works again, which is usually 2 days to 1 week after I've last used the app.
3) Holding the Power + Homes button no longer takes screenshots. I can fix this one by rebooting, but eventually this combo stops working again.
4) Several apps, specifically Google Maps and Chrome, will often crash up to 3 times before they're able to stay open and work. I also routinely hard crash out of everything whenever a foreground app I'm currently using (like Chrome) crashes, which causes everything open in the background (like my music or YouTube app that are playing) to also crash.
5) My battery level is stuck at 69% and won't drop. For the past 4 hours, Android OS, GSAM and BetterBatteryStats all show that I have 69% percent battery remaining and continue to show that percentage even though I have nearly 1 hour SoT. I can only get 2 hrs 15 min of SoT before my battery runs out, so I know this isn't right. This battery thing just started today.
Why is everything breaking?!? Since December, I've not installed any new apps, system updates or really traveled anywhere. Before I flashed the ROM I'm on (LeeDroid v5.2.3-R151) last November or so, I did a full wipe and did not restore any apps or settings so that everything was fresh.

Since you're having multiple, seemingly unrelated issues, there is no way for anyone to tell why it's happening in your specific case. Why don't you try dirty flashing your leedroid rom, and if that still fails, start from scratch?
Fairphone 3+ , /e/ , Magisk
A few days ago, my phone ran out of battery and died. No problem, I just let it recharge for a few minutes and turned it back on. However, it's not working properly anymore.
It generally runs a little slower than it has been. Sometimes it won't respond, or it will fall asleep within 10-20 seconds.
Some background processes don't seem to work all the time. At one point I didn't get Signal messages for several hours until I opened the app.
Some apps / subtasks in apps take extreeeemely long to load (several minutes for things that used to take seconds), and some apps / subtasks don't work.
Every few hours (or less) my phone will just randomly crash and restart.
Another weird thing is that several stock apps that I deinstalled with a debloating tool have reappeared? I can't open them though, so I don't think they're actually installed.
I tried uninstalling AdAway and ProtonVPN because at first I thought it might be some sort of networking timeout problem, but that didn't fix the issue, so I reinstalled them.
Take a long time:
Apps (/e/ app store), Nextcloud News when I open an article, a boardgame which I have since deinstalled, Spotify Lite
Crashes:
Files, Settings->Apps & app data, VLC
I'm uploading two logcat files. One from after an app (I think it was Files) crashed, another from shortly after when the phone crashed.
I don't have a ton of experience with android debugging, but this sounds like some sort of corruption in some part of the system?
