So today I woke up and when I went to pickup my Mate 9 Pro I noticed the Always on Display was not showing, at first I did not think anything of it - thought maybe I must have disabled it by mistake before I went to bed.. but after going through settings the option for "Always display information" is ON (without a schedule), yet it won't display when I put the phone into standby.
I have checked through developer options and most other settings to see if I had ticked something which may disable it (power saving is not enabled etc). I restarted/rebooted the phone, and also did a full shutdown and waited 5 minutes before turning back on.. but still the Always on Display wont come on...
It's a bit dissapointing that this has happened and I have only had the phone a month.. I would prefer not to factory reset it, unless this is the last resort to get it back..
Any ideas?
Currently running LON-L29C636B156 and there is no new update yet - should I wait for the next update to see if that fixes it ?
I would wait for the update.
Hi,
I had a similar problem on my PD Mate 9. Solved it in Options/Intelligent support/ SmartCover, has to be turned off, not sure the Mate 9 Pro has the same option, but it is worth a try

Thanks - I tried this, did not work...
I have no clue how I fixed this but - I ended up plugging the phone into my PC and opening HiSuite and I did a full Backup of the device as I was going to perform a factory reset to see if it came back on... then after I had done a full backup and unplugged it from my PC - turned the screen off... and then all of a sudden - Always On display shows... LOL
Not sure exactly what happened. But its resolved for now.
Going back to your SmartCover setting, I had this turned off already, but I went and turned it On to see if it stops the AOD, but it does not and the Always on Display info still shows....

Hello all,
Since this morning I have a problem with my DHD. When I turn off the screen, it is supposed to stay of until I turn it on again. Since this morning it starts turning itself on over and over again. Everytime I turn off the screen, it switches on in a few seconds. But once it's on it doesn't go off by itself. So I doubt if it is a problem with the on/off switch. What else could it be?
Edit:
This seems not to happen when the phone is connected with an USB cable. Either on my PC or on the regular power charger.

Have you installed anything new at all. Also have you restarted the phone since it began exhibiting this behaviour. Make sure it's a proper restart aswell by turning off fastboot i settings, it's under power settings I believe.
Thanks for your fast reply.
I have not installed anything new since two days ago. And the problem really started this morning. So I guess it is not caused by a program I installed a couple of days ago.
I have indeed restarted my phone. Also turned it off, toke the battery out and waited a couple of minutes (just to make sure it was really really really turned off) but this did not solve the problem.
The thing I find very weird is that it does not happen when the phone is attached to USB...

Maybe USB debugging, or possibly a short on the mini USB connector. What firmware do you have on the phone?
Android 2.3.3
HTC Sense 2.1
I also think it might have something to do with a short in the micro USB connector. Have cleaned when the phone was of. Seems to have solved the problem, but that's only for the past few minutes...

Darn! The problem still isn't gone. It appears to be less frequent than an hour ago, but the screen still turns on every couple of minutes
This is happening to me as well. The phone screen keeps coming on and then going off after a bit. This and randomly going into car mode and whenever I make or receive calls, the phone speaker is switched on automatically.

Indeed! I just noticed that too. I received a call and my speaker was turned on without me turning it on manual..
Update: my phone stopped switching its screen on automatically, but the problem with the speaker still is not gone.
My DHD has started showing both of these symptoms, ie, switching itself on from standby and the speaker phone being activated on incoming calls .. ever since I upgraded to Android 2.3. I'm not sure if this is something to do with 2.3, the DHD or T-Mobile (my provider) .. or a combination of all 3.
And an app called Car Panel keeps launching ..

I have this problem, too.
Before the last update of my DHD the backlight turns on in standby for some milliseconds. I saw only a short flash in standby.
After my update to version 2.3 this happens everey 7 minutes.
And the backlight is on for about 10 seconds, then turns off for the next 7 minutes.

DHD light off on
I had the same problem going to settings/dock and turning off auto launch and then power setting turning off fast boot appears to work so far
I have a 2 week old Galaxy Tab S 10.5 with a problem that just started or noted yesterday. My menu and back touch buttons are flashing every minute or so? I have checked accessibility under vision and notifications is not turned on.. Was playing yesterday with different settings in all the sub-menus. Not sure what I could have done to make this happen. I also have no pending notifications. Plus I rebooted, powered off with no help. The tablet is bone stock unrooted at this time.
If the device still does it after factory reset and with absolutely no changes to settings or additions from user = defective.
Since I am not rooted yet, i hate the thought of setting up the tablet over again. Temporarily I set the led lights as always off. Since I got it at best buy less than 30 days. I can always return it, same as doing a factory reset. Thanks for the reply.
Hello. Basically, the problem is with the flashlight, when I turn it on at the quick settings menu, the phone freezes and the only thing I can do is restarting phone via holding power button. Today I tried taking video with flashlight and phone also froze. I updated to Nougat and the problem is still here. The only thing is, I don't actually know if the problem was here when the phone had 6.0. MM out of the box, I did not test the flashlight and updated to 6.0.1.. Phone is not freezing when I take photos at night with flashbulb.
The phone is 2 days old, it's basically brand new.
Ah, I forgot to tell,I did factory reset twice and started from fresh, also wiped cache partition and nothing has changed.

Just got my H7x Saturday and am blowin away that a phone this nice can be had for under $200usd.
Anyways, Whenever I have the phone connected to the power-cord(charging) the screen won't turn off. I'll wait for the 60sec I have it set to, fade, the screen turns off, and then right back on immediately. Does the same when connected to USB on a windows computer. Charging only, file transfer etc. does it no matter the mode.
Any input with help would be greatly appreciated... Thank you

This setting is normally defaulted to off, but check the development option "stay awake"
No, it's set to off. But good call.
It seems like the screen saver would make it do this too. I just noticed that everytime the screen comes on, it's a different picture. However, settings>display>screen saver is off.
Just figured it out.
Under settings>Apps and notif...>notification and status bar> I had 'notifications turn on screen' turned on. That's what was causing it. Strange...
Can anyone else test for this?

Most users are on roms right now, I suggest you do he same.
And, no need for other people to test for this, you fixed the problem.

I guess I could root and rom. I am just so impressed with the battery on the stock rom I was going to try and keep it as long as I can.
What ROM do you suggest?
And I didn't fix the issue. Just turned it off... Its still an issue for people who want thier screen to turn on when they get notifacations.
Thanks for the help!

Openkirin roms are good, but the support chat in telegram is a bit toxic...
Also, any hi6250 rom will work well, like with the p8 lite 2017; roms there work on the honor 7x too, i've tested.
Hi,
The device I currently own (SM-G990U AT&T) was purchased from a third party three months ago.
Until two days ago, the phone worked perfectly. In the morning, I woke up without any notifications, which has never happened before. Upon further inspection, I discovered the Wi-Fi switch had been turned off, which was very awkward. Within 6 hours of turning the Wi-Fi back on, I noticed it was once again off, and it would turn off every 10 mins to an hour. The first day, I ignored the issue because I was pretty busy, but today things got worse. The Wi-Fi will toggle off every 5 seconds or so at most. It would eventually stop turning on and the icon would remain a lighter shade of blue (loading).
It seemed to stay on longer while downloading files or making online phone calls (Could be wrong, but willing to test this)
Here's what I've tried so far:
- Delete the most recently downloaded apps
- Checked Wi-Fi settings for Wi-Fi control history and others
- Removed Wi-Fi control permissions
- Reset Network settings
- Update software (Odin)
- Downgrade Software (Odin)
- Factory Reset (Recovery mode, CSC file Odin)
After about 5 factory resets, Wi-Fi worked for about 10 minutes (I couldn't get past the FRP without connecting to Wi-Fi - thought the phone was toast). Please help me here if you can, because I don't know what else to do.

What do you recommend?
i have exactly the same problem

Have you tried checking your battery saver program to see if it's the problem? I would also check your connection settings and make sure they are set to default.
