Hello,
I would response to the official thread, but I'm not allowed.
Could somebody please tell me if there is an OTA function in Freedom OS, or how I could update it?
Aroma installer only configure once, so how I reconfigure without loss of my data?
Thanks mcdy
XDA has a per-thread search function, please use it next time.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/search/thread/3409348?query=ota
Short answer: Do not use the OTA function, it will attempt to download regular Oxygen OS.
Flashing a new version of Freedom OS while configuring it with Aroma will not delete any of your files in internal storage, or any of the settings in your apps. Just install the same apps that you had before.
Thanks for reply, I tried search, but looks like the wrong way.
So I have to flash update over recovery?
What if I want more or less apps, is this also possible?
You only write same.
Thanks mcdy

You can add more apps or choose to not install any app you want. When updating (through recovery), TWRP essentially wipes your /system partition and replaces it with the ROM you are currently flashing. All the apps in the AROMA installer system apps, so flashing a new version will essentially delete all the old ones and replace then with those you choose to install. App data and settings for those apps are saves in /data rather than /system, so your settings will remain unchanged.

Imagine your system, OS, and system apps is on drive C: and all your downloaded apps, data, and personal files are on drive D:
The installer only touches C: so you can configure it however you want as many times as you want.

Hey guys, CyanOS 13.1 OTA is pushed to the Swifts.
Changelog/features: https://cyngn.com/blog/cyanogen-os-13-1
Want to get it but rooted?
Wait for the correct zip to appear on this page (not there as of 12.08), then download it and install it using a recovery: https://cyngn.com/support
Discuss stuff below
COS 13.1 is on https://cyngn.com/support now.
Did anyone dirty flash from COS 13.0 ?

Works fine.
Flash 13.1, then superSU, then TWRP recovery, then reboot.
Reboot takes very long, be patient and have more than 50% battery.

There's no reason to share the OTA, as you can't install it, but here's the zip you're looking for: http://builds.cyngn.com/factory/crackling/cm-13.1-ZNH2KAS29G-crackling-signed-d4ad5010c5.zip
Does anyone install the OTA on an cryped phone. After my last update from 12.1 to 13.0 I can't decrypt my phone with my passphrase. So it would be cool to know it is working as I use my phone as a daily driver.

I don't know if it has any decryption problems, but dirty flashing lower level updates causes less issues (in this case, instead of 12.1 to 13.0 you are doing a 13.0 to 13.1 and instead of an android 5.1 to 6.0 you are doing a 6.0 to 6.0)
I compared cm-13.0 with cm-13.1 'fastboot' partitions and only following ones differ:
boot.img
emmc_appsboot.mbn
recovery.img
system.img
So I guess upgrade (even dirty) should be seamless.
I have no Wileyfox Swift but I maintain those of 2 friends.
I'll upgrade (and root + twrp) them without factory reset, just dalvik cache clean.
Updated (rooted) and slightly broke my Apps2SD in the fact that it is always and invariably asking me for a second soft reboot after initial startup (each taking a long time to complete) for it to be able to properly mount the second partition. This is never a problem that I have had to do prior to the update. Not a major fault but a nuisance nevertheless.

I remember having limitations in previous Android versions, but in this one, anything that isn't an uninstallable system app I can move to my SD card
Did the update on my cryped not rooted phone. And the update went through without any problems. Only Twitter mod was not working but after clearing the data for this mod and doing a reboot it is working.

Many thanks. I was under the impression that this would only move the app (apk) itself but leave all the paraphernalia associated with it (data, obb... etc.) behind on internal memory. I will give it a try.

It is definitely an update, but not available as full package. You can install it and reinstall the recovery (download via updater app and locate it, copy to separate directory, install 13.1 full, install ota, install twrp, install super SU)
But i have not tried it because i am on holiday without a pc...
Report back if that's working!

Do you know where exactly the updater app downloads it to?
Installed the new update yesterday. It looks like a security update. I think that this will fix the latest issues with the Qualcomm chip. But I don't know it for sure.
Hello guys,
I moved yesterday to Android Marshmallow on my Htc one m8 with a customROM and I am just wondering, why I can't delete any system apps. I tried to Google the thing, but I get over and over advertisement and reviews about Android Marshmallow. Nothing that helps.
I tried to delete them with several tools and manually with a data explorer. Nothing worked. It seems like the system is restoring itself. Is there any way to "fix" my problem?
It seems like it's not a device-specific thing, so I've decided to ask in the general Q and A section.. I am sorry, if this wasn't correct.
Thank for any help!
What custom ROM?
This device has write protection on the system partition, even with root. But most custom ROMs have the mod applied to bypass the write protection (and allow such changes). So its surprising to see this issue on a custom ROM.
If using a file explorer, try to change the permissions on the folder to RW (rewrite) and see if that helps.

Strange, it should work.
Did you dirty flash the ROM? If so, that may have something to do with the bug.
Did you try to mount as RW in the file explorer, as I suggested?
Or you can try to flash wp_mod, which is normally how you would remove the system write protection on the stock Sense ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development/rom-stock-unlocked-developer-sense-7-t3262894
Highly suggest to make a TWRP backup of you current ROM and user data, before flashing the wp_mod; in case the mod causes any problems. Not sure if this mod will play well with a custom ROM that has all the modifications like Viper.

No, I did a full wipe before flashing the ROM on a clean, stock ROM. I mounted system as RW in the file explorer, yes, but it didn't work. I am going to look for some other ways, if them doesn't work, I will try the file you linked. Thank for your help and ideas!

I've searched for "uninstall" and "uninstall system", but it seems like I am alone.
One guy, who had the similar problem, was suggested to use Titanium to uninstall. After that he didn't respond anymore.

AFAIK, Swift 2 ks not officially supported by Lineage OS, so no. You may be able to find an unofficial version though.
Cannot dirty flash
I currently have thomson.aa's unofficial lineage os build installed. This update shows up in the updater app, but after I download it, it says the zip is corrupt or unsigned and it does not let me install it. If I manually download it and try to install via TWRP, it fails saying "can't install this package on top of incompatible data. Please try another package or run a factory reset". I would hate to have to reinstall all my stuff, though. Is there some way around this? Or is there something wrong with the update?
Got no problems installing it via TWRP. Works great, stable so far.
crdroid was fine too, lots of special settings (little too much for me), but I prefer a ROM with regular OTA updates. Thank you beroid anyway.
P.S. My grammar help changes "beroid" to "heroic"
Can this be installed over the top of cm13.0 nightly?

You basically asked the same question in 2 threads??? So as this isn't really thomson.aa's problem, I'll answer you here.
I dirty flashed from stock -> cm13 -> crDroid -> thomson.aa's LOS14 without issue. I tried with the official release and got the same as you. So after editing the installer script to force it to install, it did. But once it booted, everything kept force closing. It just wasn't happening.
So I wiped data and chose to restore my backup from google. I just installs most of your apps but it saves a bit of time. Still need to set things up properly though.

I figured this might be due to either
- Something being wrong with the currently installed build
- Something being wrong with the one I'm trying to install
That's why I posted in both places. Sorry if that is not the thing to do.
Thanks for your reply. I guess I'll have to do another reinstall then.

I have no wifi, too (after trying a dirty install over an old CM13 that resulted in an error). Here's the issue in their bugtracker, I think, in case anyone else experiences this.
Got the same issue when trying to go back to CM13 now -___-
Seems strange that I've had no wifi issues. I've tried turning it on and off with no problems.
A few (maybe patronising) thoughts:
Did you guys check the md5 hash?
Which recovery did you use? I used TWRP 3.0.2.5
Were you previously on COS13.1.2? I was.
I downloaded fresh open-gapps for the install - ARM64, 7.1, nano.
I wiped system, dalvik, cache. Installed LOS14.1, su, gapps in that order.
The dirty boot left me with lots of force closures so I wiped data, dalvik and cache, completed the wizard after booting and all was fine.

I was on the latest CyanogenMod snapshot.
I wiped data, dalik and cache, then installed lineage, gapps and su. Restoring a nandroid backup of CM13 did bring the wifi back again.
I then wanted to restore my backup of lineage, because I already transferred most apps and settings and don’t care to much for the wifi (hoping it will be solved in not too far future), but TWRP failed to recover, getting stuck while restoring data, only restoring the system partition. Strangely, after this, the wifi worked, however I experienced many FCs. After wiping data again, the wifi was broken again, the MAC adress showing as 02:00:00:00:00:00.
Wiping system, I tried to reinstall lineage without any extras, but TWRP just got stuck again with no progress being made after detection of the partitions. Strangely, restoration of the lineage backup worked now, including data The original problem persists, of course.
I mentioned COS13.1.2 specifically because it flashes partitions other than system that may affect your situation. CM doesn't. If you've had COS13.1.2 installed previously then these other partitions should be up to date.
If you're having inconsistent results using TWRP3.0.3 it may be worth trying 3.0.2.5.

For dirty flash its very easy to have all the configs and apps intact, but sometimes its recommended to have new flash or all features don't work in dirty flash so new flash is obvious.
And here remains the challenge, to get/restore everything back after the new flash. So I like to know from the experts about the easiest way to restore/get back everything (configs/apps/etc) without installing app by app and config everything individually again.
What is the best/full proved way to restore after a new flash?

I think there is not one way for all the cases. Better way is firstly via recovery TWRP only in case that be the same rom, I try ever first this option but not always works, you can backup absolutely all but maybe don´t restore all properly if you downgrade or upgrade to other version (i.e from marshmallow to nougat or from miui to lineageOs or viceversa), other possibility is make a flashable zip with all your apps, there are some tutorials about that, but never turned out for me. There are obviously different between settings from different roms. Finally after years of flash several roms I opt ever for Titanium Backup to restore data just from some apps like WhatsApp, browsers or games with records and install all my apps with ES File Explorer using multiselection and click then one by one, also there is a file explorer with root installer, more faster to install like fx file explorer in Google Play
Thanks a lot SubwayChamp for your response.
on more question: is there any way to automate the things that I usually do after any new flash one by one, its like running a script kind of thing?

The problem will be mainly data restauration maybe for the incompatibility between different versions of firmware like marshmallow to nougat or versions of rom restoring data from miui to lineageOs. Any script (if exists) will do the same like recovery restoring data but that doesn´t change the stage. I didn´t find any app that can restore a multiselection by i.e of 20 apps without ask one by one to install, maybe someone knows and want to share. Here you have other method to backup and restore from pc, I didn´t use yet, but if you give a try, here´s the link of github of the app https://github.com/koush/support-wiki/wiki/Helium-Desktop-Installer-and-Android-App

Hello,
Everytime i try to flash the Gapps i get this error in TWRP.
Also at advanced wipe - system i got Size 4339mb, Free 3357mb.

Hopefully someone could help me out.
My guess is that you forgot to directly flash GApps right after LOS, instead you re-booted phone again into TWRP: hence the error.

No i did it directly after, strangely i downloaded the open_gapps-arm64-8.1-pico-20210619 with almost the exact same size and it worked without any problems. I'm now running lineage-15.1-20180613.
Everything is working except there is no Weather Provider. Do you know how do add one?

What you are talking about should be the device storage. You won't have 43 GB in system partition. It is the availability of system partition space that is important. Most of the apps in Gapps install as system apps. So system partition size is important.
I see that you have now solved the problem. Any other apps forming part of Gapps or otherwise will install outside the system partition if you download and install from Play Store. So system partition size is not important now. Try any weather provider you want from Play Store. You can install it.
EDIT: You can install apks also from outside Play Store and they won't install in system partition.

No i was talking about the system partition size. All other gapps are working so probably there was something wrong with the file.
