i own an asus zenfone 2 Ze551ml. i had installed lineage os based on android 14.1 official nightly version using twrp recovery.
everything was running fine untill i wanted to update the nightly version.
the update manager would crash whenever i tried to download the update, so i tried downloading the update manually and flashing it using twrp recovery.
i successfully flashed the zip file, but the device went into a boot loop after the install of the update.
i booted back into recovery and tried clearing cache and dalvik cache, but nothing happened.
later while trying to do the same again, i accidentally wiped system partition as well.
now, the device doesnt boot up and stays stuck on the asus boot logo. doesnt show the lineage boot animation as well.
cant boot into recovery mode using the volume button and power button.
i tried to install adb on my windows, but the device is not detected and it shows an error saying device not found.
installing device drivers manually and trying to install adb too didn't help.
someone please help me with this situation :crying:
thanks a lot in advance
If you have hard bricked your phone then this post has all of the information necessary to help you
https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/help/thead-bricked-phone-updating-to-mm-tips-t3452785
plus some addition information I found on the web:
I gathered from the internet that Asus Flash tool will hang after it reloads the correct serial number. It thinks it is communicating with a phone that has SN 123456789ABC but then at some point the phone switches SN and Asus Flash Tool hangs.
You can get around this hang using several methods
1) restart computer after asus flash tool hangs
2) use second computer to load RAW image after asus flash tool hangs
3) Going into Windows Device Manager and disabling the Android bootloader device then re-enabling it (after asus flash tool hangs)

You can tell Asus flash tool is hanging when you run "fastboot devices" command and you see a device that is not serial number 123456789ABC
Answered this problem many times.
You should've powered off within twrp itself.
Waited 15 seconds after switch off, used hard buttons to get to bootloader.
Used giovix modder tool. Return to stock option in modder. Select boot and recovery.
Reunlock bootloader , flashed twrp 3.0.2M1. Root .then flashed 3.0.3.M4 or if possible ...
Power off in twrp itself
Used hard buttons to get to bootloader.
Reflashed new twrp in linos OP.
Reflashed linos or restored any back up
3.03.M4 twrp is in OP for lineage

I have no idea how to root or anything like that, I bought this oneplus 3 and had a update a week later.. so when I did the software update it took me into teamwin recovery mode and now I don't know how to get back into my phone please help....
Did you buy the phone second hand or did you try to flash TWRP yourself? It shouldn't have TWRP installed by default.
Regardless, you can use TWRP to flash the latest update.
Given that you have TWRP, I'm assuming that you have an unlocked bootloader. Did you notice a warning pop up everytime you reboot your phone before? It should say something along the lines of "your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted". If not, you'll have to unlock it (it wipes your phone in the process).
If the bootloader is unlocked, you can simply download and flash the latest zip for OOS 4.0.3 in TWRP. This will update you phone and replace TWRP with the stock recovery (so you don't run into this problem again in the future when installing an OTA). If you don't intend to modify your phone in any way, then this is all you need to do, your phone should be functional.
There are plenty of threads with detailed guides on how to do all of this.
I'm also stuck on TWRP after stupidly downloading the latest OTA and I don't know what to do!
Phone won't boot normal, just goes off.
Situation:
- Bootloader, Fastboot and TWRP wil load.
- Device seen by windows
- Zip install in TWRP gets stuck at 'patching zip unconditiontally'
- Another zip flashes, but gets stuck at the end, no reboot option (manually but that's not the way)
Can someone please point me in the right direction? I don't care if I lose data, just want my phone back!

Simple, check the OnePlus D/L sites for this one http://oxygenos.oneplus.net.s3.amazonaws.com/recovery_op3.img and flash it by TWRP or fastboot to RECOVERY. Boot once with the official Recovery and all ist fine again.
This is issue of using a faulty twrp so for that when ur phone us booting up go to fastboot and flash twrp 3.0.4-1 and everything will work

Similar Problem here:
just wanted to flash latest OOS 4.0.3, so I flashed back stock recovery with flashify and rebooted into recovery mode to flash the already downloaded OOS 4.0.3. zip. That's when it began to go poop! After rebooting it just went dark with no Chance to power it on again! No dice with power button, Volume up/down + power button, nothing! Not even the LED's are blinking when plugged in. So this one seems to be basically dead!
I got it once booting again after randomly pushing the buttons (after x minutes!?), but everytime I reboot the phone it just shuts off without beeing able to power it on again. At the Moment it's dead!
Any ideas what might happened? If I get it on again, should I immediately reset it to factory Settings?
I am kinda lost here! Any help/ideas would be much appreciated!
Flashify? Never used it and never trusted apps which flash stuff on a running system. Use fastboot and reflash the recovery partition. Link to recovery is in my former post.
fastboot flash recovery PATHTOIMGFILE
Thank you for your advice! Still a lot to learn! Got it up again, will try as you suggested!
It appeared that my stock recovery file was corrupted , but all is fine again! Thank you very much!

I may have been the person you traded with to get the OnePlus 3, but I took the phone back and after 5 hours I got it up and running.
The phone would boot to TWRP, but even after wiping the entire system and dragging a ROM zip to the internal storage, reinstalling did nothing. It just kept booting back to recovery.
The solution entailed the following.
Download stock recovery IMG. Flashed through TWRP. Rebooted recovery and now was back to stock recovery.
Download the official OxygenOS ROM zip from the OnePlus website and changed the name to update.zip
Next I downloaded Android studio for access to ADB. I had never used ADB before, but I knew this was needed to push a file to the phone.
Needless to say, ADB kept freezing my computer when I would type in the commands to side load.
I deleted Android studio and installed a minimal ADB/Fastboot I found online. I opened my command prompt, typed the command for sideloading, and immediately got my installation starting. It took about 10 minutes to fully install. When it was finished, I rebooted and had a fully functioning OnePlus 3

Hello
I tried rooting my LG H815 and it didn't go so well.
I managed to successfully unlock the bootloader following the steps on the LG developer website.
I downloaded SuperSu (UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip) and placed it in the internal storage of the phone.
Afterwards in order to root the device, I booted into TWRP with "fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-1-h815.img".
In TWRP I flashed SuperSu. After it finished flashing I rebooted the device. After it attempted to start up again, it froze at the LG logo. I waited around 10 minutes and figured it's not successfully boot.
I removed the battery and tried to fire it up again, but it didn't get past the Logo screen again.
I managed to send "adb reboot recovery" to it, but all I get is an image of a little dead android. I guess this is because I only booted TWRP and did not flash it.
When I get it in fastboot mode, "fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-1-h815.img" does work anymore now. I just says < waiting for any device >.
I managed to get into default recovery with power up + vol down where it prompted me to do a reset by responding Yes twice, but after it rebooted, it still got stuck on Lg logo.
If you cannot get to the recovery then follow these steps:
i) Make sure you have the LG Drivers installed from here: http://oceanhost.eu/e4h2px4e0hkd/LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.0.4.exe.htm
ii) Download the LG Bridge software from here: http://www.lg.com/us/support/product-help/CT10000025-1438110404543-preinstall-apps
iii) Remove the battery and reinsert it so the device it is fully off.
iv) While holding the up volume button, insert your USB cable.
v) You should enter download mode. Go to the Software Update tab of the LG Bridge. It will say connecting and then should say your device is up to date. Click on the recovery text on the bottom right and then follow the instructions. The software will download the system image for you and this is roughly 1.6GB so make sure your firewall doesn't block this connection.
This shouldn't delete your data (no guarantees) but you will have to grant app permissions again and reapply any changes to system files e.g. root, viper4android, xposed ect.
If you have problems try this method instead:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-lg-g4-stock-firmware-to-stock-kdz-t3107848
If successful and you're brave enough to try again. Then make sure you actually flash TWRP. I think you are right in that you only booted TWRP .
You can follow my TWRP/root guide here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/howto-complete-guide-to-unlock-twrp-t3370003
Good luck
Thanks a lot for answering.
LG Bridge wasn't detecting my device. I don't remember if I was in download mode when I tried this, though. I might've not been.
I didn't know how to fix it and asked a friend for help. He managed to flash the h815 stock firmware through some Taiwanese/Korean flash tool (Edit: It was LGUP and he flash a kdz file with the stock firmware).
I followed a similar guide to yours when I flashed SuperSU from TWRP, except I didn't install twrp permanently after booting it from the .img file. I thought it was not possible to install twrp if the device is not rooted first.
I still kinda want to root the device since I voided my warranty by unlocking the bootloader, but I'm afraid I'll break it again if I use the same method.
Edit: Managed to successfully flash twrp. Booted into recovery again after rebooting system. I am now creating and saving a full backup with TWRP. Will try flashing SU again afterwards.
Edit2: I flashed SU after properly installing TWRP and it worked like a charm.
I bricked my phone i installed magisk 15.0 on marshmallow 6.01 then it starting booting to twrp and saying that my phone is not verified and may not work properly then i proceeded to try restore to stock firmware by using asus flash tool but it wasn't detected so i used fast boot to flash. it was at the asus logo which took very long then i tried fast boot again then i only had boot loader and twrp so i replaced twrp with stock recovery and tried to flash using adb sideload but it still didn't work so i started using xfstk but i had connection problems it started to say errors occuring trying to download fw blah blah blah and it would only recognise my device if i held down power+ volume- so i kept doing it after a few trys it said download of fw completed so it booted to boot loader however if i boot to recovery from bootloader it puts me on a usb screen and on the bootloader my device is not show in fastboot devices . before when i pressed volume up my serial would change from 1234567890abcdef to my original serial and now it doesn't. and the device is not shown in asus flash tool
Close thread i unbricked it.
atleast share how you unbricked it. Might come handy for someone else in distress.

Hello members of XDA,
The issue I'm having is pretty rare and found few or non threads about it, so I will try to be the most precise possible.
Yesterday I decided to change the ROM of my LG G4 H815, I was previously on LineageOS, since LineageOS on H815 wasn't developped anymore. So I asked myself why not trying Android Oreo with CypherOS. Before any changes I was with the latest version of LineageOS for H815 and I had TWRP with the version 3.0.2.1. Bootloader was obviously unlocked.
So I starded to download all the required material to switch to CypherOS 5.3.1, while the download I've made a backup of my actual lineageOS installation on my internal storage. Once every thing was downloaded I tried to install CypherOS I had an error 7 in TWRP install box, so I was pretty worried, scouted XDA threads about the error but i was redirected to the solution where you modify the update binary with txt but still didnt worked. I've found a thread talking about updating firmware of the H815 ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/v5-8-5-n7-1-2-resurrection-remix-t3704450) While panicking I've done a wipe of everything (dalvik, data, cache and system) .I applied thge firmware update but I also re-read the thread of CypherOS and figured that I needed a newer version of TWRP, installed it so. THen magically CypherOS installed without any issue.
After installing the Gapps (Arm64 8.1 Nano) I rebooted and the first weird thing appears, after seeing the LG screen while the boot I have another screen telling me that the bootloader has been locked and that i should visit g.co/ABH for more information, then CypherOS initialise, CypherOS worked like a charm. So I wanted to go to my TWRP and make a backup in case. I launched ADB and use the command adb reboot recovery, the phone restarted and had the following events : LG logo, warning message about the bootloader, LG logo again and then a black screen. However I was in recovery mode since adb found me with the command fastboot devices. I had no TWRP logo or anything linked to it. Few minutes later, I had the basic recovery mode where you move yourself with the volume buttons and select with power where the functions are pretty limited.
Then I rebooted the phone with adb (fastboot reboot), CypherOS still working perfectly. Thaught that it was the bootloader which back to scratch when he was blocked, I figured out that he was still unlocked, I used the command "fastboot getvar unlocked" through ADB. THen I thaught i had to install back TWRP, tried through the fastboot mode but I had an error
Code:
FAILED (remote: unkown command)
since i tried everything i could even in the basic recovery mode, the only working command in the recovery is "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" but still does nothing.
I mean it's not that terrible since I can use my phone and i'm about to change phone in 2 months for a Oneplus but i would really like to be able to install magisk on the phone to grant root access and be able to use TWRP on it like I used to. By the way the backup of lineageOS has been deleted while performing unecessary wipes.

It's clearly written on the official website and in the official TWRP support thread for the g4 what you have to do when on Nougat bootloader and want to flash TWRP... and keeping it.

Yet, this still doesnt help me to solve my issue. Do you think there is a way to fix it or no ? If not, I'll just deal with it for the few months lasting.

Okay if it doesn't work for you you must do something wrong. It works 100%. If you really want help you should explain in detail exactly which steps you took as otherwise it's all just guessing what you're doing.

Indeed, I didn't followed the procedure exactly, didn't do the step after flashing TWRP (removing battery and boot manually to recovery). Well thank you, was my bad on that.
Should I do a clean new install of cypheros or should I keep it like that, what would be your advice ? Knowing that at the moment CypherOS works like a charm. I also plan to install Magisk on it to root it.
To help others newbie like me, solution can be found here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/recovery-twrp-3-touch-recovery-t3442424
Hey, guys. :victory:
I had the ROM LineageOS on my Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML), but I was factory reset by setting the cellphone instead of using the recovery mode. With that, my cell phone looped through the TWRP. I tried everything, clean the cache, clean the system, reinstall Lineage, finally tried to reinstall the ROM stock. But I thought it was taking too long (more than 10 minutes in the same process), so I hung up and tried to call the cell phone again, but it was on the black screen, just vibrating. :crying:
I was able to solve this problem by reinstalling the firmware and stock ROM using xFSTK and ADB Fastboot (I could not use the Asus Flash Tool, I did the whole process manually).
Now, I have another problem, for a change. The stock ROM is Android Lollipop, on the Asus website has update for Android Marshmallow, including already managed to upgrade before migrating to Lineage. But now, when I restart the system to upgrade, it goes into fastboot mode and when I try to get into recovery mode it goes back to the fastboot or when I put in normal boot it starts without updating. I tried to install TWRP again but it is looped in Fastboot and I need to do all the procedure I did before to recover the phone.
Has anyone had a problem like this or do you have any idea how to solve it?
P.S. Sorry for any English error. Google translator. :B
