Hi!
I now have 14.1.20170314-Nightly-ham on my Zuk Z1
Whenever I try to add a new contact, the only option I get is to add it to the online Gmail account or Outlook account.
I want to just save a contact on the phone (not SIM, but phone storage) but the option is simply not there. (Under Contacts > Add contact round button > Saving to)
Does anyone know whether that was a design decision or could it be a bug? Or, am I missing some setting that I need in order to do that?
I didn't see this feature on any rom but you have the choice to share a contact by SMS/Gmail/Notes/Bluetooth and... GDrive

for some reason my contacts on my phone are not synchronizing with my gmail account. The contacts on gmail did sync to my accounts but not vice versa. Any suggestions? I even sync manually from the settings on the phone
make sure you are saving the contacts to google and not to phone storage, when you add a new contact it should ask you where to save, choices being Phone, Google account, or Exchange account.
oh ok gotcha. thanks
Edit: what I did was export the contacts from phone to sd card. I then uploaded all the contact to my google account.
If I saved all my contacts straight to the phone, how would I sync them to my google account. Also, would anyone be able to see my contacts and phone numbers, that was the one reason I didn't save them to google, as I didn't want my contacts to be public.
When adding a contact the first thing in the Information tab says contact type. Select Google each time.
If they are already a phone contact create a new contact for them, on your phone as a google contact, or on your gmail/gvoice account on your computer. name them the same and select link in the top right of their phone contact and it will link the phone contact to google and backup on your google account.
To only show Google contacts Go to people, hit menu, view, uncheck all but Google.
Hi all,
I am running a completely stock HTC Desire and I have a really strange annoying problem.
The problem is if I add a new contact, it adds the person, as when I am on "Phone" and tap the numbers to spell their name they appear.
Also if I go into google mail and contacts, I can see the contact.
What I cant see is the contact in the "People" application.
This is really frustrating and I was wondering if anyone had any idea how I can fix this? Just to note, I am adding contacts setting them to my google group exactly the same as I have always done. Im not sure when this started to happen.
Thanks for your time.
When adding the contact via phone, are you ensuring the contact type at the top is a Google one?
When adding the contact via Gmail, are you ensuring the contact is added to teh 'My Contacts' group?
Try this...
Go into your Contacts.
Hit your Menu key and select Display Options.
Select your GMAIL account.
Make sure there are checkmarks in each of the lines, especially "All Other Contacts.
Click Done.

Hi All,
The Defy has what my google account contacts sync"ed" seem okay., now I hve many contacts in the Defy which is fine.
However, when I manually add contact within my Defy, it shows me "saved okay" but the contact I made is not seen from anywhere afterwards in the Defy., nor in my google account in gmail dot com/contact
I tried & tried & tried again, no hope. The Defy kept say "SAVED" but it couldn't be found from anywhere in the Defy the contact I manually added. Just like I never add one.
See if any solution from you guys. Thanks much. edmond
For me there are a few “annoying” things with adding contacts on the DEFY. I recently had to return mine due to the earpiece failure, so the following may be slightly off because I am working from memory
1) By default a new contact will be added to ALL accounts. For me this meant that each name would be added to 4 accounts (AOL, Exchange, Blur and Tmo). I believe the setting to change this is in contacts. You need to un-check the accounts that you do not want a new contact added to. UNFORTUNATELY, you cannot un-check the Blur account I would add a contact, then “un-link” the contact so I could delete the Blur contact and keep only gmail contact...
2) New phone contacts for any account other than Blur are “hidden”. Again setting under contacts will prompt you to select which contacts you want to un-hide.
3) New gmail contacts are not saved under “my contacts”. You may see that they show up under “other contacts” when viewing your gmail account on a PC...
When i bay this phone i export contact to gmail from outlook, and sync on phone and all is ok i get all contact.I have cyagen mod latest stable, and i put new 3 contact to my phone and i want to sync.I turn wifi go to sync contact and press ,and what happend? All my contact is deleted from gmail and from my phone exept these 3 new?I have backup and restore contact to my phone, but how to sync with phone with gmail?to have contact on gmail?
Hehe fast from me!I found options on gmail /contact restore contact and works!!!But still it is same question.I create new contact on phone and when i sync i want to have on gmail contact too
I believe it will auto-sync to your gmail/google account once you have added it. Then when you switch roms. You can restore all contacts. Nice to see you figuring out your question.
But when i add some new contact to phone and go to sync on google contact create just THAT contact and delete all others also on phone.

Couldn't you do a bulk sync? And select all your contacts to be uploaded together, so google has an updated version of your contacts.
I am not able to find the option to directly save all the new contacts that i create directly on google. It always ask for which account contact needs to be saved to.
Any solution??

You must mean set a preference so you are not selecting Google every time you create a contact. I have yet to find that out (not that the extra prompt is a big deal for me), but there is Manage Contacts > Copy Contacts to be able to duplicate what is on your device to your Google account.
Me, I hardly ever add contacts directly on my phone. I usually add them through the Google account on my PC and let them filter down to my phone.
Maybe we should ask them through google play feedback.
