why no roms? - Xiaomi Mi 5s Questions & Answers

why no roms? it is a bad phone that no one wants to buy or no one is interested in, or maybe it's almost impossible to create roms right now for this device?

Z1 Compact or LG G2

Hey!
Hey! I'll buy either the Z1C or the LG G2, which one should I buy? Could you help me please? Advantages/disadvantages with either phone? And try not to be to much of a "fan-boy" please
I want a good mobile camera but I've heard about camera freeze issues every 5 photos or so? Is that fixed? And how good is the camera really? I've heard different opinions about that! And what about that Sony forget about their "older phones" is that true? I know Z1C will get Android 5.0 but after that? Do they send out bugfixes frequently? For how long do you guys think that Sony will support Z1C? Anything else I should be aware of or forgotten to ask about?
I'm not buying any other phone than one of these so please don't suggest any other ones, thanks in advance and sorry for my english

Good morning,
your English is just fine, but your questions. Sorry, you can find all the answers on the net. Who knows now how long Sony will support Z1c? Lollipop is coming sometime in the first half of next year. I do not really know the G2 but for me that size is already too big. I have never experienced camera freezes and never hadproblems with picture quality (which is a personal issue I think).
Hope that help.
Best regards

1: Are you happy with the phone overall? 2: Is there lots of support from people on this site? I mean Sony will stop the support to Z1C in the future and it would be nice to know that I might be able to get the support from people on here for atleast a couple of years or so when Sony stops sending out updates/bugfixes
Thanks for taking your time.

I am absolutely happy with my "precious". Despite the fact that you better use protection from the 1st minute, it will satisfy my needs for a long time. As for support, I am quite sure there will be developers to provide some very fine custom ROMs for the device for a number of years.
Best regards

LeEco Le Pro3 OPEN SOURCE

LeEco Le Pro3's source code is open.
opensource.le.com
http://g3.letv.cn/214/36/85/lefoss/0/Le_X727_OpenSource.zip
will somebody make aosp rom for this device?
The link on Le Eco website is down.
There's a mirror

nice~~~~
Nice news
we are all waiting for cyanogenmod or AOSP
Don´t I remember reading LeEco never does give away source code ???
I told them...they are wrong at least this time.....GOOD FOR ALL OF US :victory::victory::victory:
Correct...now we can have CM13/14 and AOPS.
WAIT! Why is model number different ???
A little more complete information about Leeco Open source project :
http://opensource.le.com/
why the model is x727 not x720?
They removed the source code from their side. I only hope developers got what they need.

My guess is that the x727 maybe for different RAM/storage, or maybe the US variant. I just look at the US variant spec and there seem to be some different in term of spec.
The only architecture specific "config" files necessary for building in the source package (in arch/arm64/configs) seem to be for msm8937, which is the Snapdragon 430. However the newest defconfig in the directory (msm-perf_defconfig) has the CONFIG_ARCH_MSM8996=y option set. This could be the real deal...

Wait, so that means hope of rom support back to square one?
If sources are released I'll definitely get this device and build AOSP for it.

Sources...? Great. I just ordered the phone.
I'm considering buying this device because I like the specs and the price point. I already have a Nexus 6, 6P and a Pixel XL on the way so even if it doesn't have any ROM/Kernel support I'd still like to take it for a spin.

Pixel XL is a weird one with the ramdisk inside of system, have you been able to root it?

My Pixel XL is at home waiting for me right now. I own and operate my own trucking company and I am on the road alot. I'm going to see what I can do with it when I get home. The ramdisk inside the system is a weird one for me. I thought I misread that part when I was doing some earlier research about it.

ROMs won't have a problem, system root won't either but systemless stuff is useless on Pixels.

No, I meant that it looks like they're the right sources.
And on top of that... the changes from CAF kernel sources are very minimal. Porting CM to this should be a snap.
I'm very tempted to buy this on the flash sale when it goes on sale in the US...
That's great news!! Thanks for clarifying.
I just signed up for their $100 rebate available for the Nov 2 flash sale today myself. Only $299!!

Android O??

Anyone tried to port O over to the swift yet?
Not desperate but I would love to show off.

I am aware of that but that does not mean it is impossible to port it. If it's out for the Google phones, it can be run on any phone, with enough tweaking.
I wish there was a way to downvote dumbass threads like these..

It would be possible in a nearly future to flash a pixel experience rom on this phone?

You can have, so far, a fair number of treble GSIs to be flashed. It's a good start.
It would be far way better to get a good kernel development, IMHO.
Lets hope for a official one!

Looking at the threads related to treble stuff, onscreen FP seems to be a common issue, even if it could vary device by device. Same for camera (Gcam ports wise) and other minor bugs. If you are looking for some AOSP, at the moment GSIs are the only option available.
You must check for some development of sd710/712 devices to understand if some porting/development could be operated in a short while.
This phone has just been released in Europe. Should it be necessary to share a third-party system after a few months?
So when will we see the rom for our devices? It has been 2 weeks since closing fundraising

Relax, man. First, buying the device is not very easy in Brazil, I heard. Second, after buying the device, the dev (as everyone) needs to wait 1-1,5 or even 2 weeks until he can unlock bootloader. So maybe he has not even unlocked bootloader yet and you already panic.
As said above, it had been made a fundraising for a developer from pixel experience to buy the Mi 9 SE and build a rom for it. The goal was reached on 06/26, so the development may already have started or he's waiting for the device to arrive or unlock bootloader. We soon should see the first builds I guess. Let's wait a bit.
any news for this ? like "developer already got the device and are waiting for unlocking keys" or "developer is working on PE" ? anything ??

Sometimes it can take longer than 2 weeks for it to even arrive. Also unlocking the bootloader as mentioned. Be patient, it'll be here ASAP.

It took me a month, since I ordered my phone, to get it ready for custom roms.
---------- Post added at 10:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:15 PM ----------
I really wish there was a non MIUI stable, fully working custom rom out there. I tried the available options. But, for now, Xiaomi.eu 9.6.27 + Okita kernel (+ Debloater tool) remais the best combination for me.

stock "ish" rom for view 20

hello everyone
i just got the honor view 20 (as ticks moist of the boxes for me)
and i wanted to know what that is the most stockish custom rom out there
thank you

There is none as you can't unlock the bootloader.
In all honesty you made a huge mistake if you bought the phone so you could simply install a stock rom on it. If that were the case then you should've gone with the OnePlus 6t

Not completely true, I was able to unlock the bootloader. So were a few other people. I bought the code from funky huawei, who doesn't seem to sell codes for the View 20 anymore Don't know if there are other sites...
Concerning roms, i only tried the ones from OpenKirin (Omni and Resurrection). The "stock feeling" is there but they are missing some features i really want to have. In addition, the camera is not nearly as good as the stock one. At the moment i am staying with Magic UI + Root. The guys from OpenKirin are doing a good job though, don't get me wrong
