This is my first time posting here and I am at a complete loss.
My sister gave me her ATT SM-N910A Note 4. It had started this awful rebooting process. She thought that I would be able to fix it, so I gave it a try. It will still not go past optimizing apps. This is only sometimes. It just reboots, reboots, and reboots. She was running on Marshmallow when this happened. The battery has been replaced.
I took it to the ATT store today and they did not seem like they were very interested in helping me. They kind of blew me off. They told me that since I could not get to recovery booting there was nothing that they could do. So, I proved to them that I could, indeed, get to recovery mode by holding all of the buttons down and putting the battery in. He looked at it for a second, pressed a button and he was done with it. He told me that my system files are deleted. That I need to find someone to help me recover them or I could do it myself. SD updating is disabled. I have to do this from Odin.
So, I think I need Odin files.
Please help!

I've done some research on this and haven't found and answer, so im putting it out there for you guys to get at me and let me know. I have been experiencing Rolling restarts on my phone. The phone will boot up fully, but randomly it will just restart it self. At times if I just push the power button, to turn of the screen, the phone will restart again. The phone also has an issue of staying in black and not coming back on, so I have to take the battery out in order for me to get it back to boot up.
Notes:
Im running EL29 Stock. Nothing special at all.
If there is a thread already created for this, I apologize, but ive looked and I couldn't find it.
I'm experiencing something similar except i'm running AGAT's tFH13 rom and kernel.
Every time I get the phone into recovery or even download mode, the phone just reboots itself.
Out of curiosity I opened the mobile odin app and it gave me an error saying it could not detect the device model. -_-

Can you dump a logcat and attach?
(From ADB Shell)
Code:
logcat -d -f /sdcard/logdump.txt
Might help explain what's going on.

That's pretty odd, I don't think I've ever heard of something like that happening unless there was something physically wrong with your phone.. have you ever tried to use Odin to reinstall a stock Rom? & out of curiosity do you have an antivirus app?
I did the Reflash back to stock through odin. Took it to sprint this morning though and found that it was a bad battery. So easy fix but annoying problem.
And with that being said, It did it to me again! Guess that wasn't the issue.

I have used Odin to reinstall a stock rom before. I do have an Antivirus app called Lookout. It might be something physically wrong with the phone at this point im not sure what to do.
*update* Just took it back to sprint and they replaced it for me for free. Went from black to white
I've been trying to flash it back to stock to take it to sprint but my phone just keeps rebooting even whilst in recovery mode. :-\

How long have you had your phone? I am having the exact same issues. My 1 year Samsung warranty expires on the 15th...
Was your phone rooted when you brought it in?

I would say keep trying. Mine was doing that too but it finally held out long enough once to not restart on me. What I did was i just tapped the screen ever 10-15 seconds. Not sure if that did anythign or if I was lucky but It made it through.

I had my phone for less than a year. I had a sprint warranty and the Samsung 1 year warranty. Both covered this issue with no problem. I suggest taking it in if you cant find a solution to the problem. But if your rooted. Flash back to stock.
I was able to restore to a previous backup. From there i got Mobile Odin working and was able to flash the FH13 OTA, rooted though. I still can't get the power button to work and its still randomly rebooting but not as often. Still trying to get the phone to STAY in download mode to flash to stock(unrooted) with Odin.

You can possibly take the "risk" but I took mine that was a Rooted Stock version, and it passed their software test, so they gave me the new phone. Also if its rebooting as much or as fast as mine was, Its hard for them to even run a real test because the phone wont give them a chance to. Its up to you tho to make that decision.
Finally got the phone to stay in download mode and i was able to flash the Unrooted FF18 OC.
Reboots are fewer now but power button still doesn't work. I checked my account and my phone is still under 1 year warranty & i have the insurance. I'll be heading to sprint after work today.
Thanks for your tips and replies. :good:
Same issue. The power button on this phone is iffy. At least i think that's the problem
Swyped from a Galaxy S2 on CM10
update : they are replacing my phone because the power button is broken
It's gonna be a few days till I get the new one, tech says they are back ordered?
The stability and shutdown issues for me seem to be caused by a bad battery. Brought it into Sprint and they gave me a new one, no charge. Seems to have solved the problem.
So I just wanted to flash omega rom onto my T-Mobile i9505 galaxy s4. It worked, but the wifi didn't work, and it said that I needed to flash a file through odin. I flashed the file, but an error occurred in odin. Then, I unplugged my phone, and booted it into twrp recovery. All of a sudden, it asked me for a password, which I did not set. So I hit cancel, then did a wipe of the cache and user data. I then tried to go and flash an old rom, but all of my microsd card files were not there! The folders were showing up, but not the files. Then I tried to boot my phone and it wouldn't boot at all. After trying to install a stock firmware through odin, the phone turns on for 2 seconds, then shuts off. I can't get into recovery anymore either.
First, do you mean you have a T-Mobile M919 S4 and you tried to flash an i9505 ROM?
You are able to, but I want to just clear things up.
Let me write a little something, then we'll see if we can get you back to where you want to be.
- Sometimes when things don't go 100%, you gotta take a deep breath, step away and then go over the steps you took to get to the point of where the issue started. When in doubt on what to do next, youccan read around the threads on xda and other resources. After doing a little research and you still have doubt, just ask questions by posting the issue likeyyou're doing now.
The natural reaction is to fix the issue, and to do this and that without being sure. The combination of the latter with a little panic and perhaps not enough patience, can make matters worse. I'm not saying all of the above pertains to your situation, but some of the comments may, as they have to me during certain situations. Anyway, something to keep keep in mind for the future
Now to the issues at hand.
Can you get into download/ODIN mode?
Power down the phone and pull the battery.
Wait 10s and insert the battery but Don't power on the phone.
Hold power button & volume down button at the same time until the screen turns on.
When you've read the above, let me know if you're able to get your S4 into Download/ODIN mode.
Fixed
The problem was that the phone was just completely out of battery, and I was trying to flash the stock firmware onto it but it could not boot into it because there was no battery. Charged it, and could access recovery and the phone booted! Yeah I guess I wasn't patient and made a simple mistake. OP, Please close thread thanks!

Ah, :good: to hear.
I sometimes forget to add that step and another into my tutorial/how to posts:
- Prior to ROM installation, please make sure you have at least 50% battery charge available.
- Please check your usb cable to be in good working order.
The above are 2 reminders are a of couple of the most overlooked steps prior to flashing ROMs and other associated goodies
ON 11/19/13 i was having problems with my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 the wifi wouldnt work, couldnt get service on it and a list of other things. I was stock rooted with TWRP recovery before and flashed the stock MD4 with flashcount reset to take it back to Sprint so they can try to fix this which they did. After it was fixed I recieved it back and right after rooted it using the Samsung S3 Tool Kit. It was a success, but now my wifi, and bluetooth wouldnt work. So i was convinced to just not do anything and keep it stock and just wait till my next upgrade which is very soon. I did a factory reset and it booted me into the stock recovery and then i proceeded with the process. So as i was doing a factory reset it kept bring a TON of red error messages. NOTHING would mount, NOTHING would wipe, NOTHING happend. But in the end it said it said that it was a success. I was very confused to what was happening ive never seen anything like this. So i was very worried hoping it would boot back up like nothing happend, and thats exactly what happend. Nothing. All it did was boot up and stayed on the Samsung logo screen. The only thing i can do was boot into download mode and recovery. I then put my phone into DL MODE and downloaded the stock sprint rom from AdamLange and flashed it using Odin. That failed obviously. So I re-installed the CORRECT drivers, tried different USB cables and USB ports, and flashed again. That still didnt work. I then used the Samsung toolkit to unroot/unbrick my phone, that didnt work either. I read every forum related to this problem and beleive me i did, i stayed up all day and night trying to figure something out, trying to get information and re-did the process at least 2 times. I am on my last resort id never thought it ended up to me asking a question on here, i dont want to sound like an idiot but i am out of options...
Sorry i made this too long but id thought id put every single thing that i did to my phone that maybe i did wrong. Id appreciate it if anyone had any tips on what to do here, any feedback and any suggestions that can help me is appreciated, thank you.
See if THIS method works for you. Then you can start the process over.

Yes i tried this. That's what I use whenever I take it to Sprint for fixes. And also if i were to try it again it wouldn't mount my sd card or the internal memory, maybe flash it through Odin even if its a .zip file? My flash count is at 3, will sprint still be able to replace the devise or at least fix it? Thank you for the suggestion though.
So I left my phone on the charger in the car because it was dying, came outside and it was stuck on the Galaxy Note II screen with the green light on. I unplugged the cord, the phone refused to come on so I did a battery pull. Upon powering it back on, I get this screen that looks like Poltergeist and phone does nothing. When in Poltergeist, I can't get the computer to see my phone, so that I can back it up before formatting. Volume up, menu, power doesn't get me into recovery mode. I can't get into safe mode either. ican however boot volume down, menu, power it into the mode where I can flash it, Odin will see it, but going straight to flashing means I lose everything.
Does anyone have an idea beforehand? I know I'm asking a lot, but these forums have gotten way over my head over the years. This is an isolated incident, so if you could even attach the file directly that I can attempt to flash vids Odin to fix my booting issue vs saying goto X thread because every thread seems to have it's own multiple files. I just wanna recover it so it'll come on, back up it and then I'll research on my own how to flash it completely. It's 6am my time and I've gotta be up by 1130am for work, so please reply for dummies as much as possible
Thank you ahead of time.
PS - phone is stock on 4.1.2 rooted using CF Auto Root and that's it.
Morning bump...no quick advice?
60 readings, no one comment? "Hey, flash XXXXX and see if the display drivers come back", etc? It'll boot into flash mode, looks normal and the compputer sees it. Safe mode or normal boot give me Poltergeist and the computer wont see it so that I can try to backup everything before flashing....that's a lot of boobies pics (just trying to get some sympathy here) to have deleted
79 views...for the love of god, someone throw me a bone here. I get it, these are old phones now, these forums are full of know-it-alls who can't be bothered (devs) and "search" nazis (me being one of them) as I should just figure it out on my own...but I'm not. I've got versions of ODIN, I've got CWM Recovery files, stock MC2 and NE2 ROM's, I even found myself a PIT file. NONE OF THEM ARE WORKING. No matter which ODIN I use, they all stick at PIT regardless of whether I have re-partition checked or not. I've tried flashing PIT, CWM recovery, stock recovery, CF Auto Root and/or stock 4.1.2 - 4.4 ROM's in just about any combination of one or two together using each version of ODIN. No bueno.
I've got a very nice and thick 24/28awg cord I'm using, I can boot into dowloader mode but can not go into safe, recovery or boot normally. I've watched brick recovery videos on YouTube, I've downloaded files from here on the forums and www.galaxynote2root.com using various downloading I have included a picture of.

Holy crap you forget how nice the Note is when you're back on a Epic for two days while working 12hr days and going through 6 batteries each day...

Did you ever get this figured out? I'm in the same boat with the L900 Sprint Note 2...
Solved it by getting a working logic board from eBay
I broke down and bought a Note 3 off Craigslist for $300 but I'd still like to fix the Note 2 to make it into my backup instead of pulling the Epic outta the box again.
Hi,
So here is my problem from the beginning.
A while back I got the S6 edge and I decided to get into modifying my phone and rooting it for the best experience. So I rooted it and it was all good. But then I couldn't use my banking app and other apps so i decided to unroot it. So I went through SuperSu and pressed unroot but then it came with a pop up and my hand slipped and pressed something by accident while I was reading it and then the phone didn't power on. It was boot looping. No big deal Ill just flash the stock rom. So I get everything ready the ROM Odin and all the drivers go to plug in the phone and nothing. Odin doesn't detect it, device manager doesn't detect it. Its like nothing is connect but it is charging. So I frantically search the web to find nothing online. I have taken the phone to 5 different shops all saying they cannot fix it. One of them said it could be the motherboard but he aint sure. So I don't know what to do.
Any help would be heavily appreciated and I will be more than happy to fill in any blanks that I have missed.
Thanks.
