Reverse Camera APP? - MTCB Android Head Units Q&A

Anyone know if there is a reverse camera app I can install so that I can launch my reverse camera even when driving if I wanted to?

If your camera isn't wired to your reverse lights (i.e.: only powered when in reverse) you can split the cameras RCA cable with a Y adapter and run one to the backup camera input and one to the AV input, then use AVIN to view the camera at any time. Note AVIN will take over the sound as well as the picture, but this is the easiest way to do that AFAIK.

OK thanks, ya its just wired to the cigarette lighter wire for power. ok thanks seems like to much work, I thought it would be something simple like an app, dont feel like running a whole new cable from front to back.

You don't have to run a new cable like that, or even disconnect everything. Just pull the unit out enough to disconnect the camera, put on a Y splitter and connect it to reverse camera and AV in :good:
If your head unit comes out easy should be ~10 minutes.

I have a problem with my camera - when the HU is fully booted up, it does not switch to reverse view. When it is booting (i.e. while in boot animation), it shows up correctly. I checked the signal, it's 12v when engaged reverse. I've tried reflashing stock rom with Malaysk, reflashing mcu; nothing works. Enabling the front camera in factory settings, putting in reverse and manually starting AVIN with reverse camera, it works. Any idea why it stopped automatic shift into "backup camera mode" and how to repair it?

Did you update your MCU file.. Look under factory settings and enable rear camera if it is not (might be called something else)

actually, i downgraded it.. from 2.86 to 2.85 as i havent found newer one for KLD6. I checked the factory settings toroughly, nothing helped. The problem came out of the blue, one day all was working fine, the next day this problem. No change in settings, installed apps, nothing.

Found it - using another "radio" setting under factory settings turned the cam back into normal operation!
Now my FM radio doesnt work with neither radio i choose. Some produce weird noise when chosen, some completely silent.
Is there any list of devices which radio should be set to which device? Mine is Eonon GA2114.
Regards,
Tine

I simply wired in a 12v switch to manually enable the rear camera. You will need a resistor but it's simple. When the head unit notices the camera getting power ( via switch ) it switches to the backup camera automatically. It does require running a power lead from somewhere though. I pulled mine from the power accessory wire, ran it to the switch, from switch to resistor....then to the radio.

Discussed before, no as not controlled by Android- it is controlled by the MCU, which receives the reverse switch input and mixes video.

O.K. we used to be able to launch the reverse camera by using F-Cam.apk and selecting the camera icon on the left side of the screen.
As long as the camera was powered and video while driving was enabled in the "driving" settings it would give a full screen view of the backup cam at any time regardless of what gear you were in. In malaysk 4.4.4 I have not found the icon on the left side anymore.
I tested his Lollipop build, and the icon is back in F-Cam.apk. and once again I can view the backup cam while driving around.
The backup camera may well be controlled by the MCU, but it is accessible through the F-cam App depending on the version.
Not sure why it doesn't work in the 4.4.4 anymore, but I hope to find a solution.

double post. Ignore.

Any progress on this issue? I own a Android PX5 for my Prius. I am able to see my reverse image when I shift in reverse, but can't see it while driving. F-cam does not seem to work. Any other solutions?
My camera is always powered when ignition is on.
edit: Can you post the F-cam APK? I used this app from the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apexis.p2pfcam&hl=en
I assume they are not the same?

The F-cam Apk you link to is not the OEM F-cam apk I was speaking of. The one I am looking for is pre-installed
on my MTCB head unit.
That being said, I decided to go with a hard wired solution. I bought an RCA cable splitter, and plugged my camera into both the camera port, and the AV IN port. By doing this I am able to see the camera when I an in reverse, or when I open the AV IN app.
My camera is constantly powered when the vehicle is on.

Got it working, when I switch 'front camera' to enable in the factory settings, the F-cam app showed up in my app drawer. Inside F-cam I can enable my rear camera while driving. Nice gadget

Does anyone know how to change which camera gets launched when there the reverse trigger line has voltage? I know this is in the MCU and not android.
Here is my scenario -
Installed in an RV.
Camera has microphone since normally a spotter is used when backing into tight spaces.
So when the reverse line has voltage, I want the AVIN leads to come up not the Back-CAM
I know I can kick in the AVIN manually, but I don't want a two step process especially for turning. My RV has a video switcher that runs a lead out that acts like the reverse camera, but it will change from reverse to side camera based on if the shifter is in reverse or if a turn single is on. That is the lead I currently have in the AVIN to get the sound also.

After installing my front camera by RCA input, I only can see the image with AVin.apk and not with F-cam.apk (I would like to see it with both).
Anyway, my main problem is that I bought a rear camera to be used as a front camera, so it has screen mirroring enabled by default. Does anyone have a modified AVin.apk with screen mirroring image option or something like that? or does someone knows whether there is any way to do it changing any option?
I would like to keep the camera without buying a new one. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE

Did you find a solution? I have the exact same problem.

This was an experimental version of Tinycam that will let you see any IP camera in your unit

(Mine is black)
The day I got my Sony LiveView, I had one problem: The screen wasn't working.
But this was only 2 months ago, so I got a discount coupon from the store and bought the SmartWatch as it just arrived in store.
1. FIRST IMPRESSION
As usual, the design caught my eye, it looked even nicer then the pictures google image gave me.
As every geeky person would do is to try turning it on but that didn't quite happen as I thought it would, you had to charge it 2 hours before you can start playing it. That of course you had to find out yourself as the paper guide told you nothing about waiting.
Charging it is taking the device of the wristband, opening the clip and placing the L shaped cable between the clip and... god this is hard to explain.
It's like clipping it to your belt, but the belt is the cable. There!
2. APPS
Anyways, Once I installed the necessarily software to connect the phone, the first thing you notice is that you get a menu with all Sony apps designed for the SmartWatch. Quite handy as you don't need to start searching for them on the app store. It even has a predefined shortcut to search for apps with "SmartWatch" so you don't have to start typing it (Yey for the 2.3Seconds win!)
Installing an app is as easy as agreeing with the terms and downloading it. Once installed, the app is active on your mobile AND watch.
You can select any installed app such as Twitter or Facebook, even Find Phone tool (VERY handy for girls and there maze purses between tampax and rocks...) with various settings. Some apps can be defined as gadget on your home screen.
Some apps are being created by cool nerds to enhance the flexibility of your watch. One of my favorite is the VFinder, an app who can take pictures with your phone camera, you see the camera on your watch with around 1-2FPS. (Yes you that lives next door a pretty girl, no more peaking, use your phone and watch!) Or the GPS tool, see how fast your driving, how high your climbing and where the hell on this planet your standing.
Maybe a Maps app? There are two who are being worked on, but you can test it already. They both are really bad for now, the one using google maps is the worst. But it's still in early stage... right?
3. HARDWARE
Now, to how handy this tool really is...
First of all, it reacts as it should with your finger(s), but then again, some buttons are to small.
When you double tab the watch, you have a 70% chance it will turn on.
You are also able to shake the device to wake it, but only a 10-20% chance, and not just a little shake, more like shacking a cocktail!
As alternative, you have a ON button on the side.
So, when you manage to turn on the watch, you get the digital clock, with the day (Mo, Tu,We,Th,Fr,Sa,Su) and the day of the month. You don't get to see the month and year.
Once you tab on it, you get the homescreen. On the homescreen you got the gadgets. Wiping your finger on the screen to the left and right, you get to slide between gadgets. I got mine defined on Twitter, Facebook and Events (missed calls, SMS, MMS, etc). The Gadgets are fullscreen buttons, clicking on them will give you more info. When reading your incoming SMS, you can slide up and down to read the whole thing.
Using two fingers and tabbing them both together on the screen makes you go back, I would have preferred a double tab, as sometimes you just can't tab with 2 fingers when smoking a sigaret (Or something else.)
Once back on the homescreen, you can slide down to get the menu. On the menu you find your installed apps. Sliding left and right again you get to find more of your apps.
I happen to have noticed, some apps freeze the watch (Or phone, still sorting it out) till you reboot the watch or force close the app on your phone. Restarting the app will make it work again.
Quite disappointing tbh.
Now about the device main app. It's missing some things we could all use...
For instance, I'd love to change the Screen Timeout time to 10 seconds, as for now it turns off to fast.
Having a function to turn off or dim vibrate would be amazing so i don't have to take off my watch when sleeping.
Changing the screen brightness would be handy for certain things.
Having an option to add a background, change UI colors and styles would be amazing to have, as it's your special watch, you want it to be yours only.
PROS & CONS
Pro's
Design
Multi-touch screen
Size
Respounds Time
Very cool apps
Con's
Can't see screen well in sun
Music Player volume buttons to small to touch on screen
Menu should be fullscreen menu buttons like Live View (It's to small to work with when driving/biking)
Some apps could use more options
Sometimes screen doesn't show image, but still reacts to touching
Should have WAY more settings. (eg. Screen Timeout, Customizations, Vibration strenght, Brightness, etc)
Shaking it to wake up works 1 out of 10 times only

First-time-use-charging is pain in the ass. I connected it to the charging cable, but wasn't sure if it's charging or not... no LED light, no response from watch... nothing. In begining I thought I recevied defective one, that is not charging. Also using custom (too) short USB cable instead of micro USB cable is simply dumb. I think charging is the main failure of this watch.
Watch battery indicator is also not use accurate. It was showing about 50%, but next hour it shut itself down.
Apps are not to good, but they are getting better and better. Unfortunately Facebook and Twitter apps are realy bad. Almost just plain text with no forming. Mail notifications are currently bad.
Weather app is very good, but it needs option for current location not just predefined location.
Find phone, Messaging, Missed call, ModeChanger, TicTacToe, StatusView, Counter, GPS Viewer, GPS Map, Slideshow and Battery Level apps are useful and good working!
Music player needs bigger buttons!
I would prefer bigger screen, but i got big hands, so this is not for everybody. Also pixel densiti and screen brightnes is too low.
Also it would be cool it it would have mic and speaker, so I could answer phone calls from the watch.
And one more tip: the easiest way to check your watch is double tap on the alu ring/band. It apparently uses accelerometer to wake up.

I had that very same impression at first. I will quote this in my review, as the same thing happened to me. The battery was showing 50% if not more and suddenly, I could not revive the thing. I used it for 1 day and a half and it died already :/
Abou the dubble tabbing, you would need a hammer, as I had to almost hit it
LED and Micro-USB would have been handy. Now I have to order a new cable in case the watch dies while driving/working... Worst case scenario, lose the cable...

Nope, no hammer in use!
You just have to get used to it. It works surprisingly good!
One downside is also that it actually is no watch, it's a clip. It is unnecessary bulky because of the clip. 12,5 mm instead of 8,5 mm. So I can easily imagine a scenario where i break the clip by getting cought somewhere since it does not lock in closed position. This would cause the "watch" to be unuseable since you can't charge it properly nor wear it as a watch anymore.
It also not a real watch because it does not show the time without interaction.
I want my MBW-150 back
Nevertheless it has some awesome apps like the camera tool and GPS map "Google Maps for Smartwatch" finally works like a charm.
the sony smartwatch is Waterproof ?, You can splash in the water or surmeger?
It's just dust and splash proof. So... it's not waterproof. No submerging!
Just a little heads up.
Mine stopped working yesterday. It stopped reacting till I placed it back in it's charger.
So, what I now get is a fully charged SmartWatch MN2, who only works when you place it in it's charging cable.
Once every (around) 30 seconds it reboots on it self, then searches for your phone.
Your phone says it's still connected, so the SmartWatch keeps searching till you reset your phone's Bluetooth device list.
Once reconnected, you need to be lucky to be able to use it at least 15 more seconds before it reboots and searches infinitely again.

This is EXACTLY what has now happened to mine! Got to send it to a Sony Repair place now.
It's a little frustrating
I like my Smartwatch so far. I've had it a couple weeks. Music control works great with DoubleTwist & the FindMyPhone app is great (if you're in bluetooth range). The Endomondo app is nice too as I keep my phone strapped to my arm while running.
My main complaint is the actual app buttons. 9 times out of 10, when I tap the icon to launch the app, it thinks I'm swiping and goes back to another screen. So frustrating. Better firmware with slightly larger buttons or something better come quick. I almost chucked the thing across the room. Luckily, the strap was too tight & I had calmed down by the time it came off.
Ok i am so confused .. I wanna ask what is main difference between Liveview and LiveView2(Sony Smartwatch)

MTCB KLD2 (v2.81, Model S07) & canbus (2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid)

Sooo... I have had my unit installed in my Sonata for about a year and just stumbled upon a few little gems I didn't know about. I have seen some info indicating that you can control the climate controls of the vehicle, and even have the display show when a door is open. HOW do I do this?!?!?!?
I am not using a canbus decoder, and I believe that will be the answer I need to achieve the desired result.
I was monkeying with the canbus settings in the Factory Settings menu and it has "15 HYUNDAI & KIA" with nothing selected for canbus items. I select any of the 2 options in that menu and it makes "no" difference. The middle one added an app to the application tray, but it wouldn't open.
-----------------
I also tried the IX35 and KIA5 options from the canbus menu and each of the sub items listed, and still a no-go...
Any ideas @doctorman or @Malaysk?

I'm not any of the guys you're asking, but I can give an answer.
I've been struggling with that for the past four years and I never had it working. I've tried various can-bus decoders
like the ones you mentioned. Never had anything displayed from the can-bus.
I'm sure this has to do with the hardware from the Chinese. It's not working. The SPDIF interface-box works, hence
I can use the factory amplifier. I even tried various apps I've found, but again, nada. I've at least 6 can-bus decoders for I40, IX35 and so on.
Reason being that I've requested can-bus function when I've been buying HU's. I also have complained several times, but silence is the word from
the Chinese sellers.
If you ever find a solution, please tell.

I don't like that answer....please try again :crying:
I want to be able to control the climate controls for the system because I want to design an application that would pass commands to the controls for weather related activity... For instance, remote start the car in the middle of winter w/ frost on the window (below ~34F normally), and it will switch to defroster, and activate the rear defrost. Or when it is hot out, it will turn on the A/C to full, and make sure econ and recirculate are off.
If it has access to manage the climate controls it should be able to access the onboard temperature sensor to have all of the info I would need...

I currently use a Viper system for remote start/etc... It doesn't have that functionality... You can hard wire a pulsed signal or constant +/- signal over a couple extra channels to do things like roll up the windows, or turn on rear defrost. It does sense the temp using an onboard sensor, but will not adjust the temp or level of the fan without causing a wiring headache, even for the most advanced installers. That also includes units that have a dball or one of the other devices that uses canbus to communicate w/ the car, as I do with the SmartStart device I have installed.

Hello all,
I own a peugeot 208 which had it's touchscreen broken, so I bought an android HU since I like freedom because original navigation system is crap and this is actually even cheaper.
I can't post external link as I'm new, but mine is KR-8079 Allwinner R16 Cortex A9 Quad Core 1.6GHz unit that can be found in aliexpress or smart rover site.
I installed the new HU, but still have some issue pending as I'm new to this field. I flashed IQ navi 0.1.25 because previous software (which wasn't marshmallow as publicized) had quite some problem with SD card mounting while with this works properly.
Pending issues are:
-Can't configure SWC commands manually (couldn't even before), can bus works, but I want to change some button. When I open SWC app I press start and the button I want to set, but remains yellow instead of becoming grey.
-Is there a way to add sound to an open door or while in reverse ?
-I don't have rear camera, but still tries to switch into it. How do I change it to full screen parking sensor screen ? I see proximity sensor in the left with a little figure atm.
-When calling with dialer app I can hear the other guy, but he can't hear me. I think system tries to use external mic, but since there's an internal one as well I'd rather use it. I unchecked RC6 on extra settings, but still not working.
-Is there a way to see temperature without internet connection ? I don't think this HU has an internal sensor.
Thank you in advance.
Regards.

nexus 7 2013 dashcam help

hi
I have started building a nexus 7 2013 for my car , I have a question regarding a dash cam, I have searched the playstore to find an app to be able to background record from a usb camera and allow recording to usb storage (which I havnt been able to find),
id like to use either a usb webcam or what I was thinking about was the usb camera from the joying headunit range, which then got me also wondering if their car record app which is on their unit which is android kk, would work for the nexus with the joying cam or a web cam??
if not plug and play could the apk be modified to work ( beyond my capabilities I may add ) ive found a link to to where I came across the apk and a little info, but cant post external links
or can an app be fooled into thinking the usb external camera is the rear facing device camera, as in my case could never use it as my nexus 7 rear camera is behind my dashboard fascia
I pretty much have everthing ready to install, but would love to be able to get a dash cam incorporated, a good quality dedicated cam is just too dam expensive
hope someone can give me any helpful info, surely someone has maybe done?
as far as i know you can use any webcam via OTG as long as its a uvc compliant. You can try to do a search on UVC webcams and it will give you a list.
thankyou for the reply
I know I can use a uvc camera this isn't my problem, ive got multiple ones which work, its finding an application that will record in background to external drive which is my problem
well I think ive now found an app in the playstore that will do exactly what I wish, but I cant save to an external drive, which I really need tbh, as my device only a 16g wifi model
if anyone interested the app in the playstore its usb camera by ShenYao China
if anyone could help to maybe modify the app to change its save location that would be awesome
and I reckon I also need some help to automate pressing record and keep in background
the app can natively be sent to background recording and it functions perfectly with timurs 6.0 rom, and ive tried leaving it background recording, then simulating ignition off, upon ignition back on and checking the recorded file it saves in full
but id like this fully automated one tablet gets power with ignition to start usb camera app in background+record button pressed, another task I wish I could set would be to delete the recordings after a set size, or stop /start recording after set time or even after a set number of files ssaved in the usb camera save location , tried with automateit pro, get it to start the app but cant figure out the rest of the tasks in automateit,
and tasker confuses the absoloute **** out of me tbh, I understand little to do with android os as a whole
I'm fairly newish to android.

Isudar PX6 (1280x720), MTCE (LY) MCU, 4/64GB, DSP - Android 10, 1Din (VW Golf 7)

Hi all,
I bought a 1Din Isudar PX6 (MTCE) unit recently for my VW Golf 7. As I am completely new to Android, I had to figure out a lot; this forum has been very helpful for me to try and understrand the basics, so would like to share some details of the system and my experiences with it so far for reference. I have been running the unit for about a week now, and being new to Android, I still have quite some stuff to figure out. I also haven’t opened up the case yet to check and take pics of the internals, as I want to make sure the unit is running correctly before breaking the warranty seal. I plan on updating the thread as I go.
Feel free to join in and discuss similar PX6 MTCE (LY) systems here. Suggestions/help for issues I'm encountering are also greatly appreciated of course.
Specs out of the box:
PX6, 4GB RAM / 64GB ROM, DSP
MCU: MTCE_LY_V3.52_1 (May 23, 2020)
1280x720 display
A10 (HCT7 surface) – I’ll probably wait with custom ROM until a A10 version is out;
BT: xxxxxx (will add details later)
WIFI: xxxxxx (will add details later)
Radio: ST NXP6686
Amplifier: ST TDA7851
3xUSB, no (micro)SD-card slot
Additional K-Box / Z-link for connecting my iPhone (wired – seems to only work on the unit’s Red USB port)
First impressions:
Overall: unit looks good, and appears to function well and smoothly on A10 (with what seems to be the HCT7 surface) for my main use: (Waze) navigation, (Spotify / Amazon Music) music/podcast streaming, Audible. I connect to internet through my TP-LINK M7350 4G/LTE pocket-router or iPhone.
Car info page: at the (default) moment contains all data in a long list, which is rubbish; have to play around with it to see if I can change this in the settings to get a graphical presentation of basic figures (range, mileage, travel time) that can be interpreted at-a-glance.
Launcher: installed the Agama Launcher; I like it so far, although I have not been able to get the Agama volume and (non-mask) brightness controls to work – not sure yet whether my Isudar unit actually supports this. Might also try the FCC car launcher.
Display brightness: even in night mode and with the brightness turned completely down, the screen is too bright for driving at night – Isudar customer support says that’s normal . For a device being sold as a head-unit, I think this is ridiculous - but I read this is a common thing with these types of head-units; I installed the Twilight app now as a workaround, have yet to test it.
Radio reception: is ok, but I think it could be better. The unit came with a DIN ISO to single FAKRA antenna adaptor; my (VW) car however uses a double FAKRA connector for the antennae. I bought a DIN ISO to double FAKRA to see if that improves the reception quality. Have to install it still.
Customer support: so far the Isudar customer service has been very responsive and mostly helpful to my (not yet so technical) questions. As I bought my unit through Aliexpress, they communicate exclusively through Aliexpress chat though.
Installation: overall, the car-specific installation of my Isudar unit was not that hard after doing some online research and preparation (on panel removal, GPS placement etc.). As it is car-specific, I won’t post the details here; I might post some info later in a VW Golf 7 car forum and link it here, if anyone’s interested.
Cheers!

I have had the same device for about 2 weeks. I think the device is not bad and only found two small problems. When starting from deep sleep, the head unit occasionally makes a cold boot, so I have set a complete shutdown in 5 minutes. The second problem is with the GPS, in navigation apps without routing the pointer jumps over the map like a pawn, so the pointer follows the current position. Everything is fine with routing, so it doesn't bother me that much. I also plugged in DAB + which works great. I had the original VW DAB / FM splitter installed 3 years ago, which splits the antenna that sits in the rear right of the window in my Touran. Please test once whether the navigation pointer stops every 2-3 seconds and then jumps without routing.
Hi! If I run Waze without a route, the pointer moves smoothly, as if filtered. If I run Google maps, the pointer does jump discretely, as if it represents the unfiltered update rate of the GPS. It’s more like 1 time per second on my system though, not the 2-3 seconds you mention.
I have tested the system now a bit longer and some more buggy-ness and instability is surfacing now. Waze worked well for the first few days, but at the moment I cannot use it, as it crashes, seemingly as soon as directions are being given. Tried restarting and closing apps, but no joy so far.
Also I am unable to have the Twilight app (which I want to use for automatic screen brightness adjustment during night drives) consistently functioning after reboot or stand-by mode. Somehow the permission I gave it as Accessibility Service automatically gets disabled over time... not sure whether it’s me not understanding the Android system and settings well enough yet, some other Apps that are intervening, or the Isudar Android install that is just buggy.
Thanks, I'll test WAZE and see if it runs smoothly. I haven't noticed any crashes or instabilities, except for waking up after deep sleep.

I also tested the Twilight app and it works without any problems. WAZE runs smoothly as they said. I am very satisfied with the device. No other errors have appeared so far.
I switched to the new image from the Isudar website.

The day / night changeover is controlled by the Canbus. When I turn on the lights on the car, the screen gets darker and the switch lights come on. This is not done via the Android firmware, but via the MCU. It may be that the settings in the factory mode for the Canbus are not correct.
My car is a VW Touran.

There is also a brightness adjust in the factory setting for "other" because the "automatic brightness" can be switched on / off.
This has nothing to do with the firmware, the day / night switching works for me when the head unit is started up, Android is not yet loaded.
Changing the original launcher from light / dark doesn't work for me either. I use the CarLauncherPro and the light / dark of the backlight.

I think I found the setting for DAY / NIGHT in the HCT7 Launcher that you mean.
In the new update it is not available. I flashed an HCT7 image from 04/15/20 and there the option can be selected.

Sorry if I keep bothering you but where did you find that image? And what I mean by day/night mode is dark mode on the launcher and settings when I switch on the lights.

The image is from here. I flashed it via the SD card method using sddisktool. An Ota update from the site didn't work. If you are not sure about flashing an image, write to the hotline on the Isudar site to get a working OTA update.
I have recently purchased and fitted the same car radio for nissan qashqai. Do you also encounter problems with GPS when using maps? Do you have solutions? Or should we change Rom?
Google traslate
There are no GPS problems during the routing, only the pointer jumps every second without it.

I now have the OTA update A10 AV8V6 from M.I.C. flashed. This works without any problems and switching with the light switch is also possible. But the launcher is not the same, I don't know if you like it.
I talked with ISUDAR support and they gave me this ota https://mega.nz/file/ulEi0LhI#agaxU64gKJ9BJzWLEXgPLKGWFHHpBbVn-GYtRpWU4yM now I don't have any problems
Hello, i have a Passat B7 with Volkswagen Sound System (between Standard and Dynaudio) with a 8-channel amplifier . Anybody knows it is working with isudar or is a rom (like M.I.C. ) avalible that support it?
And why support M.I.C. dynaudio and other not? Is it only software?

For me the GPS signal struggles to find it then during the journey it loses it often and willingly even at an intersection the signal disappeared. I had to replace the antenna with that of an old px5 system and the situation improved significantly.
