For my part, I've use an other phone to copy all of my contacts from the sim card to a .vcf file. Then I import everything on this phone. Do you also have some problems with the clock ?

Yes this option is always available, but I need to view and save new contacts in SIM.
Just check the Clock app and yes it is also crashing.....

Rom that can read SIM Contacts

I am on a DHD. I will need my phone to be able to read and write contacts to the sim card for. So far, i've tried CM 7.2 and IceColdSandwich and both of them are not able to read/write contacts to sim.
I've also tried googling around and there doesn't seems to have any solution for it. Most of the solution centers around syncing the contacts to google which is not acceptable because I need the contacts synced to my sim card to transfer to another non-camera phone, which unfortunately has no way of connecting to a laptop or the network.
On the old stock rom, i had no issue running apps like contacts2sim to sync the contacts. But ever since I rooted the phone, I wasn't able to do so anymore.
Does anyone knows of a rom that can allow me to transfer contacts from phone to sim and vice versa?
CM7.2 actually has this feature.
Simply click on the menu and then choose the "Import/Export" option to transfer from/to your SIM card.
I don't know for any ICS based rom ...
EDIT: but it's true that directly read the SIM contacts is not possible, you have to import/export them.
relentles, I have same problem. Any sense based rom will read the sim card, but not ASOP ICS rom.
Have you tried the VT infinity rom (sense4) ?
as far as i remember, it has that option...
AOSP roms are not built to use the old way of reading contacts. While a few have the ability to import from the Sim card this option is being fazed out a little more with each update.

[Q] help-get rid of contacts imported from google

so when I changed out my sim card for new sg3 at tmob store, guy told me to import google contacts even though I explained they were on old phone only. Afterwards some contacts now have like 4 contact listings. Kind of a pain...so my question is how can I get my phone to not display my google contacts...I see options for sim only etc...but like i said my previous phone stored them on the phone not the sim. I'd like to not have google contacts showing then somehow move phone contacts to sim card.. Right now I'd have to move all contacts (including google to sim) which I don't want to do for reasons stated.
thx in advance
Select all, deselect the ones you want, delete. That's the fastest way I found. You coulda been done in the time it took to post.....
Go to your Google account settings on the phone and uncheck sync contacts

Over even just go to the settings of the contacts and change what contacts are displayed.

He said he already tried that.
OP seriously... just select all and unselect the ones you don't want to delete. I don't understand waiting days for a solution instead of just taking a few minutes to do it.

That would only happen if you for some reason also copied them to the SIM card. When using smart phones and you have a data plan, I find it incredibly dumb to use only the SIM for contacts... why not just add your SIM contacts to Google, hide SIM contacts and display/sync Google contacts? Contact info on SIM cards is completely archaic.

I would have no issue using google contacts as opposed to the sim card, but google seems to import EVERTHING! So an example is say Joe Smith, I have Joe Smith cell#, home # etc, and email in my contact for him. Then google creates a second contact which shows Joe Smith email, then a third one for an old Joe Smith email, then a fourth one for Joe Smith biz email.
Thats my issue. So when I go to call Joe Smith, I open one of the listings, ok nope not the one, open another etc...

I hear you with the select all then deselect ones I need to keep. Problem is, google imported like everyone I ever emailed, and each different email address for a person is now listed as a separate contact under the same name..The one I need is not always listed first...(see my previous reply for some color on it)

From SIM?! Transfer your contacts to your Gmail and no need to worry anymore. It's much better,as you can lose your phone/SIM along with contacts. But with contacts on your Gmail all you need is just log in to your Gmail from your phone and all contacts are ready to use with any Android phone...

Set Contact Picture - Android 11 - How?

Hi everyone,
So how do I?
I use "set as" from gallery....nope...nothing happens.
I open the contact and choose edit and all there is is the phone number, no way I see to add a picture.
Oh I searched and of course got info about 15 years old for android 2 or something, always helpful how up to date the net is.
Thank you for your up to date help.
No problem here...
Open contact, choose edit and click on the picture/icon. Then I can select icon, choose gallery or camera to select new icon.
Working may depend on where your contacts are stored... (google, phone, Microsoft exchange, etc). You can change standard location in contact - settings (3 dots)

Therein lies my problem, when I choose edit there is no picture icon, only contact name and number.
Is it possible this is because my contacts are on the sim and not saved on the phone?
I will give that a try, did not think of it before, thank you for prompting the thought.

It is more than possible since the contacts are at your sim card. Try moving them on your phone and see if that helps.

Yes worked a treat!
However getting the contacts onto the phone was tricky.
I exported by sharing to FX file manager and saved to the SDCard then imported from there as there is no import from Sim option for some bizarre reason.
But got there in the end.
Thank you.
