I've seen some posts about updates to official Nougat failing, so I decided to upload the update.zip to get to Nougat. I'd like to note that I didn't update using the update.zip method, so let me know if anyone runs into any issues. Hopefully this helps you guys out.
1) Make sure you are on official NON-ROOTED PI3. Also, make sure you enable any disabled packages.
2) Create a folder on your SD card named fota.
3) Download this zip and rename it to update.zip, then put it in the fota folder you created.
4) Turn off the phone and boot into recovery-volume up+home+power at the same time.
5) Wait a minute for the dead android to go away and recovery finally boots, then select update from SD card. Select the update.zip.
Here is the Odin files for PI3 for those that need it. G930VVRU4API3
Testing now
---------- Post added at 11:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:17 PM ----------
Still not working. Didn't get the log though, but there was a mounting error and then I believe I saw something status 7. Not sure what else is wrong.

Everything appears to be in order. Is your SD card encrypted? I recall that being an issue with the beta builds.

It is not
The best advice I have is to Odin all four PI3 files, but not Home_CSC. It will give you the cleanest install and take everything else out of the equation. I'd backup everything with Smart Switch first, then restore it all after updating.

Probably not, but you are welcome to try. If it doesn't work, then flash back to PI3 and update from there.
Also if you use package disabler pro like most of us. Ensure you go back into there and enable all bloatware you can re-disable after the update goes through

I already put this in the steps, but I guarantee a lot of people will forget to follow it lol.
I got mine updated. Here's what I did.
I reluctantly used the Verizon software repair tool to "repair" the OS. It took quite a while but did reload everything. After that I just took the OTA and it seemed to work fine. I would imagine that Odin would have worked too.
I'm on a VZ Galaxy S7, PI3 firmware on Boom Mobile (VZ MVNO). Tried OTA update, Samsung Smart Switch and Verizon Software Upgrade. All 3 are showing that my firmware is up-to-date on version 6.0.1 PI3. Have they just not rolled it out to everyone?
Is my only option to use the procedure on here?

Updated using the process from OP, worked fine.
I was on PI3 firmware and I kept checking without getting the new software from yesterday. Just now I connect my phone to the PC and open up Smart Switch, it tells me the new update is available.
I was having this same problem. I couldn't get my phone to take the OTA even after unrooting and I had to end up using Odin and flashing that BL file as well as the other three that you normally flash. give that a go if you're still having problems!
Upgraded directly from PKC (beta) using SamFirm to download and flash new verizon firmware via odin. Worked great. Didn't have to downgrade back to pe1.

I have an AT&T SM-N910A Note 4, currently on Lollipop 5.0.1. It is permanent unlocked via CODE and I'm using it outside the US with a foreign SIM with no problems.
Last April 14 ATT released a firmware update (OTA) to 5.0.1 with new:
Baseband Version: N910AUCU1COC4
Kernel Version: [email protected]#1
Build Number: LRX22C.N910AUCU1COC4
When i try to get that update via ">Settings>General>About Device> Software Updates"... it does NOTHING. Just display a text saying "No Firmware".
To me it seems I'm being ruled out from updates....
Does anyone knows why is this? Do I need to be a current AT&T customer to have updates?
IS THERE ANY PLACE TO FIND THE LATEST 5.0.1 FIRMWARE files to update from ODIN??
Thank you guys for your help!!

Happened to me too on the initial Lollipop update. Basically, the update was downloading, but would fail at install. Eventually, I got the "No Firmware" toast every time I tried to check for updates.
I had to go to Best Buy and they reflashed Kitkat (Because they didn't have the update yet). After that, the update check worked again and the update installed.
And as just stated, there is no 5.0.2 update. Only 2x 5.0.1 updates. First update was the Lollipop OS. The second was just a patch to correct some things.

It wasn't a factory reset. It was a reflash. I didn't lose any of my files, apps, or settings. It was like updating via OTA, except the Best Buy guy did it via USB and the update was the same exact firmware version that I already had.
I'm not even sure if Best Buy is an option for you, but using Odin to reflash the latest Kitkat firmware should do the same thing. I say this because I've done it on my Samsung tablet and I don't lose apps, settings or data. I do lose root though (easy to regain), but that won't matter with the n910a anyways.
Edit:
Using the firmware repair option in Kies may work too, but not 100% sure if it'll retain your data since I've never tried this before.

Just tried it but there is a warning about loosing all data if performing that.
Best Buy is not an option for me.
Unfortunately, flashing the update via Odin is your only option at this time. You will not be able to upgrade firmware via OTA, if not on an ATT network. There are apps that will allow you to backup and restore your call history and text messages without root. You can try copying your android data to your external storage card and copying the files back to the device after the firmware has been flashed.

Hey @thepinkpanter, just saw your post.
First, if you haven't already, remove the battery, boot into recovery mode and do a factory data reset, then reboot.
If you already tried that, then I would try flashing back to KK (NIE or NK3) both files can be found in the General Thread for the ATT N4. Use can use ODIN ver 3.0.7, 3.0.9 or 3.10.6, just follow the instructions for the specific ver you choose.
Let me know if you need further assistance..

Hey @thepinkpanter
You can flash NIE over OC4. I have done so a few times myself. Currently I'm using NK3.
It looks to me like your data partition is not being wiped. If I am remembering correctly, you do not get the android is updating screen on initial boot.

I would suggest selecting Nand Erase All, F. Reset Time, along with Auto Reboot in Odin on your next attempt. This will erase all of your partitions (system, data, etc) prior to flashing the ROM files. Unfortunately, this will erase all of the data on your internal storage card, but I believe this will fix the problem you're experiencing.
Do not select Re-Partition or EFS Clear, this will wipe your phones IMEl.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B79PB4FhWfJAM0hMUWNDanE1ZW8/view?usp=sharing
Note that I haven't found a way to install it yet.
Change log is:

Optimized experience of camera.

I have found a way to get all OTA and full updates. Unfortunately, this update only exists in OTA form right now.
I'm hoping someone who has a non-Chinese Mate8 can get in touch with me and I can find all the updates for it as well.
Thank you. How would you install it on the AL10 (stock recovery/unrooted) device?
wow, good work there buddy! looking forward to more OTA leaks from your side

I confirm that...putting the zip on internal sd it doesn't give the message "impossible to find the update package" (or similar I don't remember) as you put it in the external...the verification starts, starts also the "updating phase" but it freezes immediately at 5% (in my opinion without modifying anything, cause I was able to reboot normally)....just to be clear, I'm on B156 but I've root and decrypted boot...maybe the success could be obtained starting from a clean b156....maybe rowihel2012 could kindly give us more details on his upgrade success (phone model, starting firmware status,...)

Non-root stock does not work either to install this. There's an .app file that HiSuite recognizes if you unzip the file that you downloaded... However once loaded and phone restarts it just takes you to a screen where you can wipe or restart. Tried the other way too and get the 5% and then freezes. Something isn't right with the archive. Saw another dload folder on root but can't mess with it since I'm stock. Maybe you could try that directory

This rom is for NXT-L29 version?
theyre both for AL10 but u can crossflash. also, no one has gotten B163 to work yet
Sent from my Huawei Mate 8 NXT-AL10 using Tapatalk
In the root directory there is a folder called dload and inside is a file called update_huawei_dload. Has anyone tried renaming the update to that same name and putting it in that folder?
Has anyone tried to flash this OTA zip file by TWRP ?
I just opened this zip file and found some of scripts which are similar with that's used in TWRP.
I flashed L29 152 update NXT-l29C432B152-FULL-OTA in TWRP on my AL10 after deleting all data. And everything works, so far, apart from themes.
They apply but doesnt do anything. Also it did throw up some error but forgot to take note of it.
I presume b163 will do the same thing,

I tried to sideload the update a few days ago and set my phone into a boot loop.i was able to use Odin and flash it back to 5.1.1 but now I am unable to install the security update that is available. I've tried to install it 3-4 times so far but after my phone restarts and says it is installing it quits once it gets to 25% and boots as normal. Then it comes up with a message that the install was interrupted. So I don't know what's going on with this update as I'm on a good wifi connection.
I tried again on a different network and when it got to installing 25% it gave me an install failed error once again.
Am I going to have the same issue when AT&T pushes out MM?

If I recall correctly from the Android Central thread, you had to odin reflash after an unsuccessful adb sideload attempt, like myself. The instructions in the firmware thread were to use only the AP file in odin. That's not correct, you have to use the AP,BL,CP, and CSC files to completely restore the official ATT firmware.
The same thing happened to me. The OTA failed at 25% many times. After reflashing using all the correct files,
I successfully received the OTA. I also had discrepancies in my settings which were resolved by this.
I'm not sure if that's what you did also, but if so reflashing as indicated above should have you back on track. Hope that helps!
Thanks, I'll try that because I only used the AP file in Odin.
I can't find a firmware any longer.
Never mind I got it.

This method creates the ability to debloat the Verizon GS7 (non-Edge Snapdragon) by modifying @jrkruse's method for the S7 edge posted here. Huge thanks to jrkruse for making the GS7 what it should be without massive bloat.
After my OP, he and @CVertigo1 evolved the method to fix the safetynet fail issues, so it now should work perfectly. I personally have not yet tried the updated method but will do so tomorrow. I'm copying instructions from the CVertigo1 thread here, but also keeping the old instructions below in post 1.
Knox counter is still 0x0, and I can confirm I have repeatedly used Samsung pay.
New CVertigo1 method:

Yet again, all thanks go to @jrkruse for this one. I have modified his zip to work on the Verizon S7 flat. The ROM is silky smooth since it uses the factory kernel. I'm going to tweak his instructions to work for the flat. I can confirm that SafetyNet passes using this method.
Download
ODIN v3.12.3.zip
Firmware bundle for the G930. Includes VZW and TMO firmware (G930VVRU4BQA2 and G930TUVU4BQB1) as well as engineering bootloader and stock boot_recovery.image
S7_SU_2_79_Root_Unroot_WO_Tweaks.zip
VZW_TMO_HYBRID_PLAYSTORE_BS_FREE_STOCK_V5_VZWS7FLAT.zip
Install Instructions From Any Build
Warning: This will wipe your device. Some of these instructions are redundant, but they will ensure that everything goes as planned. If you don't follow them to the T, don't complain.
1) Unzip Odin and the firmware bundle zips. Boot the phone into download mode and flash the G930T BL, AP, and CP files in Odin.
2) Don't bother logging into any accounts, as the phone will get wiped again. Copy the FlashFire.apk and VZW_TMO_HYBRID_PLAYSTORE_BS_FREE_STOCK_V5_VZWS7FLAT.zip to your SD card.
3) Shut off the phone and boot into download mode (volume down, home, and power). Flash the S7 Nougat root kernel in the AP slot in Odin. This file was in the firmware bundle.
4) When the phone reboots, unlock developer options and enable USB debugging. Unzip the S7_SU_2_79_Root_Unroot_WO_Tweaks.zip and run root.bat from your PC.
5) Now install FlashFire. Go into FlashFire settings and click option to allow flashing Bootloaders.
6) Now click flash firmware and chose AP_G930TUVU4BQB1_CL10376601_QB12449107_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar.md5 SELECT ALL OF THE PARTIONS!!!
7) Now click install zip and choose VZW_TMO_HYBRID_PLAYSTORE_BS_FREE_STOCK_V5_VZWS7FLAT.zip Make sure to click mount system when FlashFire asks. View attachment 4073928
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: MAKE SURE TO UNCHECK INJECT ROOT AFTER ADDING THE ZIP!!!!!!!- Thanks @dclutter1
8) The phone will restart and FlashFire will flash the firmware first(it will take a couple minutes to find and flash everything), then the Aroma installer will start.
9) In Aroma, select wipe data(DO NOT KEEP SU)
10) The phone will say custom status on first boot, but it goes away after setup and reboot.

ROM: There are two basic options to choose from:
PlayStore Rom - so called because it has almost NO apps and you download what you want from the PlayStore. Has an experience very similar to the Pixel.
Hybrid ROM - close to Samsung Stock experience by massively debloated
Method:
Reboot phone to recovery wipe data
Reboot to bootloader

In odin Flash Engineering Boot.img from above (in AP slot)
When phone reboots and computer reconnects to phone Open HYBRID_PLAYSTORE_ROM.zip folder
Click Verizon_TMO_PlayStore_Install.bat
When done click press to continue the phone will reboot back to download mode
In odin flash:
In CSC slot: CSC_VZW_G930VVZW4BQA2_CL10280325_QB12417265_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5

During Boot Phone will Say Custom Status this will change after phone is setup and a reboot is performed
Once through setup open Rom Control App
Navigate to Phone and Settings
Click on IMS Settings
Choose Ims service switch
Click on MMTEL switch
Click on RCS switch
Under MMTEL section I enabled all the options
Click Back Button until your back to Phone and Settings Menu in Rom Control

Make sure under Advanced Calling that HD and Video calls are enabled
Activate WifiCalling
Known issues:
Safety net check fails (so Venmo does not work)
Some sites are blocked. Turning on "data saver" in Chrome settings worked for me but not everyone
I found that I had to go into settings > applications > phone and explicitly choose the phone as my default application for calls before it would correctly create a notification when the phone rang.
Some slightly more varsity moves:
Keeping apps from your stock:
You can modify the .bat file to not remove any apps you want to keep.
For example, I wanted to keep the "always on" display, so I deleted these lines from the .bat file:
Code:
adb shell rm -r /system/priv-app/AODService_v20
You can also further delete apps. Essentially during steps 5 - 7 above, the phone is rooted. During that time you can remove other packages. (My advice would be to pull them to your computer so you can push them back if needed)
For instance, I wanted to remove Hangouts, the AOSP browser (I use Chrome) and VisualVoiceMail. So I repeated step 5, then did:
Code:
adb root
adb remount
adb pull /system/app/VisualVoicemail
adb shell rm -r /system/app/VisualVoicemail
adb reboot bootloader
Then repeat steps 9 - 11
Wipe CACHE, (NOT data)
Reboot
Cool, cant wait to walk a friend thru this.
Just got up and running on PlayStore, everything seems good except I can't get the call recording to work. Thanks for putting this together

Where is this .bat file?
Also, on jrkruse's thread, I only see a single ROM for download: VZW_TMO_HYBRID_PLAYSTORE_BS_FREE_STOCK_V2.zip. Am I missing something?
Edit: I found the Play Store ROM; it contains the .bat file. The new ROM in jrkruse's OP won't work with this method, I assume.

Yes It appears he updated his method to one that uses a different kind of temporary root as well as flashable files. I'll have to look at it and see if it's customizable the way the other one was, but it looks like you found the correct playstore ROM zip from before. Here is the other ROM. Sorry for the confusion.
Do we need to flash the Verizon modem? And if so would you have a flashable file? Thanks,
if i want to just put the tmobile firmware on my verizon phone and still use verizon service, do i just flash the tmobile firmware and then the verizon csc file and call it a day? not looking for the debloat and all that other stuff. just straight up tmobile firmware working on verizon.

I tried but the .zip kept failing so maybe I didn't create it right.... So ultimately I did not bother and my service seems just fine at the moment.

I think that would work (and wouldn't think you need to bother with the engineering bootloader steps either then) but to be honest it might be safer to ask jrkruse, because I don't deeply understand it - really just adapted his method for the S7 flat.
You speak of rebooting into recovery and wiping the cache. How exactly? All I seem to get is a dead robot on my screen.
Am I missing something?
Attempting this on a G930V, FWIW.

After which step?
At one point I did get a robot with a yellow triangle saying "no instructions" or something, but I waited a DL few minutes and pressed a few buttons and it booted into recovery.

Step 10.
Hmm, It seems that I wasn't holding the buttons down long enough.
If DL = Damn Long, then, yes, I agree.
OK, made it to step 15 and now I'm boned.
I had to install that ROM Control app manually as it didn't get pushed to the phone for some reason.
While attempting to follow along by clicking on IMS Settings, a toast message complains about no CSC binary or customer.xml
EDIT:
Hmm, I'll just wait a bit until you all get this sorted out I guess. In the meantime, it's back to stock for me.

If ROM control didn't install manually it's because the .bat file didn't execute correctly. Did you modify it? Did it successfully acquire root and execute all the commands all the way through to the "click to continue" prompt? OR did it give error messages along the way? (There will be a few during the remove steps because it's removing packages that only exist on the S7 edge, not flat.
I would try it again if you have the patience.
I didn't modify anything.
I only recall a few minor errors regarding removal of non-existent directories.
Yes, the script went through to the end.
Yes, the phone had root and the TMobile rom wouldn't let me forget it, lol.
It kept complaining the whole way through.

Can you do me a huge favor and install 'Phone info *Samsung*' from the PlayStore and upload a screenshot of the firmware page. I replicated jrkruse method since he changed it, but swapped the boot.img for the S7 flat images. Everything works great, but I fail SafetyNet. I need to find out where I'm mixed up. If I can figure this out, then I believe I can make a simple zip to take care of everything else.

Yeah attached. I think I also have this problem as do those in the other thread, and that's why I get an error on device check with Venmo.
I thought you posted that Samsung Pay worked for you in the OP.

I'm really hoping someone can bail me out here before I...
I have made a mess of my new (to me) Note 4. I bought it as an Unlocked GSM. It arrived booting with a Sprint screen. I have Safelink BYOP service. When I switched from my Note2 to Note4, yesterday, an ATnT sim card was used to activate it with Tracfone. Everything seemed to work EXCEPT for MMS - I could not send nor receive pictures. I read -what I thought was- clear instructions here on the forum, I started downloading and attempting to root my phone, hoping that would solve the problem, since tech support had no answers.
I followed the instructions in this post - https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-sprint/help/rooting-sprint-note-4-pj1-t3495306 . Now the phone will only boot to download mode, or I can use the up volume button to get to the program to install, restore, etc. I have tried several times - with a couple of different .tar files. This last attempt - I tried to restore it - that also failed. My old eyes can not really see the tiny text but I did see in Odin3 that 1) No MDS found 2) Systemless mode Boot img support required 3) Boot Image Patcher Failed. When I attempt to install the SuperSU, from the thread, it gives me similar errors 1) NO MDS file found 2) (under Boot Image patcher it says FAILURE / Abort after extracting Ramdisk.
If anyone could help me out, I would be most grateful.

I pm you also. Read it first, make sure I'm right.
Then download attached file samfirm.
Here's it's original post, to show how to use, https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
Use that program to download the stock firmware for your phone.
Use model number: SM-N910P
Use Region: XAS
Then use Odin to flash stock firmware. All should be good then!
Added Odin! Use this version!
Once you get phone back on stock. I'll show how to root!
Thank You
Thank you so much for the reply. I have downloaded the files you put in my post. I will attempt to do these things now, but I have a question. I stayed up fighting with the phone all night. I probably did some things I shouldn't have? I realized that I was getting stupid and quit, but I did (maybe) put some other stuff on the phone that night. Should I use the Clean or wipe function in TWRP before I do anything else???
Yes, I can boot to downloader or to TWRP. The phone (on its own) is now stuck trying to load with the Note 4 splash screen - but I can boot to either with the vol +/- buttons.
SamFirm did not work. It said Unable to fetch... please check data or enter manually.

First - THANK YOU all for the assistance.
Yesterday, none of the suggestions were working, but I kept at it. I was finally able to install the most current Stock tar that I could find. This phone had updated to the most current version available for the phone - it had Marshmallow 6.01. NOW, the red and yellow tamper errors appear to be gone from the Note4 splash screen - BUT, it boots to Sprint Activation so it won't fully load to OS. I read a post about removing the Sprint Hands Free Activation, but it gives two ways of doing so. 1 requires having a rooted phone (I am assuming it is not rooted now?) and the other uses ADN Connect, and I am not sure what that is.
I'm not really sure what to do from here? Any assistance appreciated. Can I start from step 1 of the original post to install SuperSU now?

Well, the sun is about to come up - again - but I think I got it! This has been a learning experience to say the least. I wasn't really planning a crash course in Android, but thank you to all who responded. And to :Samep too!
I think I get it
So, after a little rest I have a Note 4 with the most current stock tar. When I left it, at sun up, I had a slightly older stock version and rooted through TWRP 3.0.2.0 and rooted with the latest version of SuperSU. I spent a couple of few hours continuing to read and figure out how I would get it updates. If I could ask just a couple more questions??
If I put the TWRP 3.0.2.0 will the tamper warning come back to the flash screen?
Can I put TWRP on without rooting with SuperSU?
If not TWRP - is there a way to do a full backup without it? I REALLY want to get a good backup of what it has now - a fresh install of the latest 6.01 - and nothing else.
Thank you again.

Sorry I don't get on here much lately. Just seen your post.
Without knowing exactly what you did. I'd say you lost your unlock. If you had an unlocked sprint phone. And tried nougat. I believe i remember that upgrading to nougat was messing up people's EFS partition. And that's where the unlock happens. Did you make a backup?
I always tell everyone, the most important thing you can do is have a full working backup of every partition.
Hope that sheds some light
