Google Assistant for k425 - LG K10 Questions & Answers

So I have the AT&T variant (K425) of the K10. Online and on the box, it is listed to have 1.5 GB of RAM; however, the actual ram (listed in settings) is about 1.46. Google says that the assistant will require a phone with 1.5 GB of RAM. So my question is: should I expect Google assistant, or not?

Yeah most probably you will get it.

Lg K425 signal strength is 1 bar but only 5 miles from tower. Sound good?

The K428 is also 1.46GB and has assistant. So, I would say yes.

I recently got this phone, and it came with Google Assistant on it.

LG G4 language change in latest firmware

I don't own a G4 but I'm thinking of buying one and it came to my attention that in the latest fota LG removed Hebrew from all versions except the H815L model which is sold exclusively by one retailer in Israel.
Is this kind of action legal? Is there something that can be done (i.e legally forcing them to revert this course of action such as involving Google in this matter).
If this isn't the right place for this question I apologize
Yes it change automatically but doesnt matter i change it back to english.. Whats the problem..
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
I don't understand your answer and how is it relevant to my question. What changes automatically? From what I read Hebrew is completely gone from the language selection
I can confirm it... My device was bought from Cellcom and after the OTA update my Hebrew is gone.
the official retailer (Ronlight), said that if your phone is international H815 variant you can bring it to them + including the Purchase Reception.
they would take it for several days and place their rom on your phone.
not sure if its worth it...

That's exactly what I'm asking, is it legal or not? If Google decided that android supports Hebrew, is it legal for LG to decide to remove Hebrew all together from their devices?
Also, what about people who speaks Hebrew and are not living in Israel? They have no way to purchase a phone that supports Hebrew apart from going to Israel?

I was asking a rhetorical question. Like saying why WOULD it be illegal to remove or not add languages? They're not under any obligation to add every language there is.

I understood your answer was rhetorical, I just find it weird that basing your phone on some other company's OS let you change whatever they wish without any questions asked. I'm pretty sure they are bound to Google by some sort of contract. I suppose I need to go to Google help forums and ask this question there since it's not a technical issue but more of a legal question.
The language was there and now it's gone. Someone intervened to make it available only through the carrier.
It might be considered a gray legal area because it's made to try and draw funds towards that carrier and could be considered unfair competition / monopoly.

It's on a CDMA network that's why it has a PRL . I'd say its either on Verizon or sprint or even project fi. You can always call google with the person and verify what version it is
Even better, and doesn't require Google to call, is to ask the seller if they have the box. If they do, have them look for a SIM ID number - NOT ESIM ID number - on the box. If one is present, you have a Verizon device, as all Verizon Pixels have a nano SIM included in the box.

It is a pixel 2 xl, forgot to add the xl. Figures it was fine since its in the xl forum. Yes I know vzw can't unlock the bootloader that's why I'm trying to find out where it's from. The person who owns it isn't tech friendly, it was hard enough telling them how to find the imei. I want a google one. I already have one but want a second and its a good deal $400, with a ton of chargers and cases.
Download the Swappa App, it will tell you which version you have. Tap Identify Your Device at the top. If it's Verizon then it will be labeled, " Google Pixel 2 Xl - Verizon Edition.

XT2013-2 and VoLTE

Hi, does anyone have the XT2013-2 and can you confirm if it has VoLTE and VoWiFi?
YES!
Yup, it supports both.... Although do check with your Carrier once as well..... If you are an Indian user, then currently Jio and Airtel supports it.

Thanks for the confirmation. I typed in an IMEI from a XT2013-1 model and T-Mobile (United States) stated that VoLTE was not supported. I guess I would need to get the IMEI of a XT2013-2 in order to fully confirm.

XT2013-2 is the international version, if I'm not mistaken...? Getting a device from another region will most likely not work, since support is added on the OS level. Since the OS is slightly different, the support is also different. So there's a pretty high chance that it will not work, since that particular carrier has not been added to that particular version of the OS.
With that being said, VoLTE and VoWIFI (aka WiFi Calling) are generally supported on the XT2013. And I can personally confirm they are supported on the XT2013-2.
BUT:
1. support for each carrier is software dependent. So the fact that it works for my carrier doesn't mean it will automatically work for yours, especially if we're not living in the same region (EU for example)
2. the phone won't enable VoLTE and VoWIFI if the carrier doesn't support these services to begin with (which I think is quite obvious).
3. I'm pretty new to this VoLTE and VoWIFI thing, too, but, assuming the carrier does support those services on their side, they also need to enable them on your account. This is usually done by activating it on the SIM card. Once that's done, and if the OS supports those services for that particular carrier, the options should be activated automatically (usually VoLTE is turned ON by default) or at least made available in Setting (in the case of Wifi Calling). So you can turn them on for yourself.
So, support for VoLTE and VoWIFI is a combination of carrier and manufacturer collaboration. Can't work one without the other.

Thanks for the info. Would either of you be able to enter your IMEI into the T-Mobile checker to see what it displays in terms of functionality? Just looking for results of what is supported/what isn't.

Also, how do you like the One Action? The only reason I want to get the global version is because I want the Android One program. The XT2013-4 from the United States is not the Android One version, and I know how slow Motorola is for regular updates.
Where did you get that model# from? The only place I can find the phone is on Amazon and the "manufacture reference" is pagl0001us.
Also where did you read the XT2013-4 is not part of the Android One program? Everything I've read has said all models were part of the program and fully compatible with T-Mobile, including Motorola's own website.
The variant is on the box. The XT2013-4 in the United States is the single SIM version that also supports CDMA networks. It is not Android One.

It doesn't show anything in my case. Either there's a bug with their site, or...I don't know. It just spins the loading animation for a fraction of a second and that's it. No info provided.
Also, if you can, try to Edit your posts rather than always creating new ones. It's easier to read and follow, in my opinion. Just a suggestion.
So far so good. I like my One Action. The updates are really not that fast. That would probably be my only "complaint". But other than that, I'm pretty happy with it. Of course, your milage may vary. ) Since it depends on your expectation and your specific use case.
I don't expect it to make me french fries in the morning. It's a mid-range phone and the software definitely helps. Battery life it's been pretty good for me, too. I usually get 2 days out of it with moderate use. And three days with low usage. Anyway, if you're a heavy user, you should get at least a full day out of it.

Except for the Camera quality, everything is quite decent. However, if you're more into flashing recoveries and custom ROMs then you'll be left disappointed, considering it has Exynos chipset. And for the same reason, it quite difficult to get hold of a working GCam, with even basic functionalities.
Moreover, Android One is the major factor why I went ahead with this device. However, half of Feb has passed, and we are still stuck on December Security Patch! All in all, nothing's going right for Moto One Action at this moment
EDIT: @diggyphil Sorry for the late reply.. I tried entering the IMIE on the t-mobile site, but it doesn't show anything whatsoever..just load and refresh and it repeats the process.

Nah, I was thinking of just having this one as a backup. I have a OnePlus 7 Pro that is my daily driver, which will be a very difficult breaking up period when it happens (it's an amazing phone)! I had the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite as my backup phone, and it seemed to get updates every 1.5-2 months. I think they advertise Android One as monthly updates, but in actuality it is more like every 2 months.
Any chance you could validate your IMEI on the T-Mobile website and see what information it displays about the service? https://www.t-mobile.com/resources/bring-your-own-phone
Is there a secret code to turn on or off VoWifi on Motorola One?
There might be. And even if there isn't there are apps and ways to get access to that specific setting.
BUT, short answer is: if your carrier supports it, and if it's baked into the OS, you'll see the option anyway. If it's not there for you, it means you can't turn it on. And even if you try to force it, it would still not work, since it needs support from both the carrier and the manufacturer.

The strange thing for me was that VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling do not work on XT2013-2 with Telekom.de (Germany) on reteu firmware. I have checked on my mother's phone, which is the same model and it also does not show the options.
After flashing mine to RETAIL 10.0 firmware instead of reteu, both work out of the box.

I would suggest that the firmware variant you want to use is always in relation to where you're going to use it, and nothing else. EMEA (A4) for anyone in Europe, Middle East, and Africa. A repeated question is whether folks in the United States should still use the U.S. Carrier version even if they have a factory unlocked Pixel. The answer is always, if you're on a U.S. Carrier, use the U.S. Carrier version, so I would proceed with the same logic for A4 or the others.

I'm thinking it's just a very, slow rollout. Both the factory images and the full OTA images are still up so I don't think they would pull the rollout via GMS and leave the images up (unless there was a problem with that particular way of updating). But hey, you never know with Google

Question eSim on Chinese version with Oxygen OS?

Hello,
I'm a foreigner living in China and I'm very interested in the OP11. I noticed that the Chinese version doesn't mention the eSim on OP Chinese website, but that the international version has dual sim + eSim. To be fair I never see any Chinese version of phones with eSim.
I was wondering if once we switch the OP11 Chinese version to Oxygen OS, does the eSim is activated? Can you see it in the settings? Is that working?
Thanks in advance.

eSim requires a hardware component and I assume that it's not installed in the Chinese version to save money. So even if you had the option on a converted unit, it probably won't work

Thanks for your reply guys. I guess we need to wait for more development on the OP11 to discover if the eSim can or cannot be activated.
I remember when I had the OP5, at that time it was only 1 hardware version of phone, but just the software that changed.

As far as I know Chinese carriers haven't introduce eSim yet except for Apple watches, eSim would be of no use to most Chinese customers. At least the hardware is there, my guess is you will get fully functional eSim after converting to OxygenOS.

Now that they have added eSIM support to US models, I would suspect that the software will activate it, but don't quote me on that, and also the process of converting regions is much more dangerous now that there is no MSM Tool available so people who plan to do this should also be prepared to have to fork out cash to have the phone repaired in case they brick it.

More than that.
My post in another thread:
It's missing B71 as well as n71 and n25 which means poor performance on T-Mobile. It is likely missing 3.45GHz n77 as well because there's no reason to certify that on a Chinese device and T-Mobile is preparing to deploy that at the end of the year.
It's missing B13 which means no Verizon support. The omission of mmWave significantly impacts many larger Verizon markets too.
It's missing B14, B29, B30 as well as their 5G counterparts and likely is missing 3.45GHz n77 as well as mentioned above but unlike T-Mobile, AT&T has already been deploying this as a number of their markets they can't use the rest of their n77 holdings until 2024 (mine included).
Anyone buying these phones for US use will definitely experience problems.

Yes.
My mobile provider's app recognises that the phone supports eSIM but I haven't gone through the steps to test it actually works.
I can toggle the eSIM on/off in settings too. When I turn it on, it disables the physical SIM in slot 2.
I might have another play around with it later on and see if I can sign up to another phone provider, in the name of testing the functionality haha
Ok, so I've tried to set up eSIM on the converted China version and it doesn't work.
While the option enables and shows as a device feature, tapping on the Add button does nothing.
I'd say the hardware is disabled on the China version.
