Help with choosing right stock - HTC Desire 300

I need help with choosing the right firmware for me device.
Not sure if it safe to flash some other region without S-OFF and changing CID as I'm not super into this device or HTC (prefer Sony), so I want to ask You before messing something.
I got the device from polish division of Orange. Nor sure, but they don;t brand or simlock it.
In hboot menu I get:
Code:
HBOOT-1.18.0002
RADIO-14.11.36Q4.21
OS-1.10.401.4
It matches this firmware: 0P6AIMG_G3_U_JB412_SENSE50A_HTC_Europe_1.10.401.4_Radio_14.11.36Q4.21_14.31a.36.1LU_release_340631_signed_2_4.zip
However Settings->About->Software information->More there is:
CW: G3_U_JB412_SENSE50A EU_Sport_PL/83784
So It's unbranded or branded firmware? Is the one i choose match to the device?

[Q] Htc Desire - Trying to Un-Root it (Expansys Version)

Hello everyone,
I have a HTC Desire 18181 that i want to sell it, and therefore unroot it to the starting condition.
My info are:
baseband version: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Kernel version: 2.6.32.15-Froyo_bravo_vs Root at Athena #9
My current version: 2.29.405.5 Droidzone - Starburst 1.3.3.5
I tried many roms from Shipped Roms but i cant seem to find my version. All the roms i tested produce either the result that its not the appropiate rom or a strange error that reports that my battery is below 30% (its 90%!!)
Anyone can help, will be appreciated

Hi. Follow these steps and you will be back stock and no S-OFF or ROOT.
First of all get the latest RUU WWE 2.29.405.5. Extract the PB99IMG.zip file from the RUU: here it is how: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880268 -2nd post.
Also make sure you don't have a custom HBOOT (in bootloader the version of HBOOT should look like this if it is custom: 6.93.0001 and at the top should write Alpharev and something else) or you will need first to flash the HBOOT downgrader prior to running the RUU.
You will need to a Gold Card if your phone was branded.
1. Extract the PB99IMG.zip and put it on root of SD Card.
2. Reboot in bootloader (Volume-Down + Power)
3. It will automatically load the img and ask you if you want to install
4. Check Yes and follow onscreen progress.
5. Wait untill it finnishes
6. I think it will reboot itself, if not scroll down to the Reboot obtion and press Power button to select.
Follow this guide for Gold Card:

4. Do I need a Goldcard?
If you have a recent version of the RUU for your Device, available on Shipped Roms, you dont need a goldcard. This is the usual scenario for people who purchased their Desire in Europe, and so have an unbranded Desire. All Branded Desires need a correct branded version of the RUU, and any other RUU including WWE (Worldwide English, or European) RUU will not work for them. Also if an unbranded Desire user wishes to change RUU to a branded version, he will need a Goldcard. This is because all Desires have a particular software tag in the Rom, called the InfoCID. This dictates the Region code. For Eg. An Indian Desire is branded and has InfoCID of HTC__038. When you change a RUU to different region, what you actually do is reset the InfoCID setting. Changing the InfoCID setting requires a Goldcard.
5. What is a Goldcard?
It is a normal MicroUSB card specially prepared in such a way that its Sector 0 (which normally doesnt hold anything useful) is modified, so that it signals to the HTC RUU that the InfoCID may be changed.
6. How do I create a Goldcard?
Just download this tool (Credits and All Rights by [email protected]), and run it.
7. Can you tell me more about Goldcards?
Sure. I've already posted it for you. Read the FAQs in this thread.

[Q] CID query

Hi.
I used CID Getter (with a picture of a cupcake) from the Play store to find out my device's CID... and it came up "1111111" - what does that mean? What is the CID and what is it used for? Why do socks always come out the washer in odd singles?
Thanks - and sorry if I appear a bit n00b-ish - I am not and prbably never will be a Dev but I like to try and understand an overview of my device's workings.
One X, 1.29.401.7
That would normally indicate your device is Super CID - if you boot into HBOOT does it show as S-ON or S-OFF?
S-OFF - which I know means that I could (should I so choose) flash custom ROMs cos it doesn't check for the HTC Signature on them.
What does the CID do? What's it for? What's a Super-CID (although the answer to that last will probably become apparent before you answer it)...
you are one of the lucky ones that got a s-off device. you can flash recoverys, radios, roms on your device without unlocking it throu htcdev
OK, but what does the ordinary everyday CID mean? What is the purpose of the value?
its to identify whether your phone is brandet by a carrier or you are in a specific region. for example if you have a t-mobile brandet device your cid will be different than a non brandet device and your phone only accepts roms/ruus for you cid. with supercid you can flash any ruu

Basically HTC phones have a CID (Customer ID, I think) which identifies the region/carrier. For example, the European unbranded handsets in the UK have the CID HTC__001 whereas Vodafone UK is VODAF001 (or something like that).
This means that only updates intended for your device can be applied, otherwise you get an error.
Super CID (11111111) allows you to flash ANY ROM for ANY region onto your phone so is desirable for those living abroad but want to put a different regions software on it, or for someone with a branded phone to revert to the generic HTC firmware
Super CID, coupled with S-OFF, basically means you can do ANYTHING with your phone and have no restrictions at all
OK so having SuperCID and S-OFF STILL doesn't mean I have root access to my current OS install. How would I get that?
No, but it means it's VERY easy to do it...
You connect the phone to your PC in fastboot mode and then use fastboot commands to flash the custom recovery, e.g.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
You then use the custom recovery to either flash the root package OR a whole new ROM
Is your One X S-OFF? If so, you're lucky (and I want it)
Oh, right-O. Thanks.
Where would I get the custom recovery IMG file from? Is there a FAQ somewhere with all the fastboot commands in it? Do I connect to FASTBOOT using Putty or something?
p.s. yes it is.

I take it you have a review model then? If not how the hell have you managed to get an S-OFF handset!
The latest Clockwork Mod recovery is here:
http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.8.3.1-endeavoru.img
Download it, rename it recovery.img and store in your fastboot/adb folder
1. Make sure you have fast boot turned off in Settings>Power
2. Turn the phone off
3. Turn it on holding volume down to get to HBOOT
4. Press power to get to FASTBOOT
5. Connect to your PC
6. Once drivers are installed (they're part of HTC Sync if you need them) open a command prompt
7. Browse to your fastboot/adb folder
8. Run the fastboot command:
fastboot devices
9. If it shows your unit, run the command
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
10. Once complete, run the command
fastboot reboot-bootloader
11. Once the phone has rebooted, disconnect from the PC and press power to get back to HBOOT
12. Select Recovery from the menu using the volume keys and press power to select
13. It should then boot in CWM
To root the phone, power up as normal and download this file and save to the root of the SD card:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1046553&d=1336400579
Then boot into the new recovery and flash the ZIP file
Job done!
And it'll also explain why you have the OTA before anyone else the UK (my question on Elevate)
OK - my PC is Windows 7 so I don't have a "fastboot/adb" folder... where do I find the equivalent? (Or did you mean on the drive it maps to the phone storage?)
Oh - and thanks for not treating me like a n00b - it's something I've disliked about this place in the past.
fastboot/adb is what you download from Google (part of the Android SDK):
http://dl.google.com/android/installer_r18-windows.exe
Thank you very nicely
Keep the 1.29.401.7 RUU to hand as well
I've always been a bit flaky with understanding cid as this is my first HTC device. Sammy was no where near as complicated.
So what if we have an international one x but our ruu is Asian. I'm flashing roms with European ruu. Does that mean its bad? And im not getting full benefits? My original firmware ruu is on 1.28 Asian but my rom is 1.29 European.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
What you're saying is impossible - if you're running 1.29.401.7 and it is NOT a custom ROM then you have an EU handset not an Asian one
The ONLY time this is different is if you have an S-OFF device and you've changed from Asian to the EU one - they can't BOTH be on the phone at the same time
Basically - if your phone had x.xx.401.x on it out the box and is S-ON you ONLY flash RUUs that are x.xx.401.x
If you have an S-OFF device you can change from x.xx.401.x to x.xx.xxx.x as there is no protection on the bootloader

I'm talking about custom ROMs lol..........MY CID is HTC__044 so that should be the asian WWE firmware if I'm not mistaken.
I've unlocked bootloader and rooted and flashing custom ROMs that are based off the European x.xx.401.x RUU, I was asking if thats a problem. Asian WWE is x.xx.707.x RUU
Custom ROMs have no bearing on CID as they don't matter - CIDs only come into play with stock official HTC ROMs

Rru update

Hello chaps
Im a bit confused so im posting this in the hope that you fellas more experienced than me could maybe shed some light on my situation.
I have unlocked bootloader and custom recovery at moment and i have decided that although ICS is cool i want to flash some custom roms, so i decided to get my cid and check stock firmware to download appropriate ones in case i need them for serious recovering of the phone.
The problem is s-on, im aware that the rom has to match the cid and unlike my sensation xe i cant at present get supercid, however i was happy to see that cidgetter reported in the top left corner my cid was HTC__001.
Happy days, or so i thought, because my phone was an orange branded phone, unlocked, i assumed it would actually be an orange uk firmware i needed.
2 days later im struggling, so far ive attempted to install the following -
Orange Uk branded Ruu
HTC Europe (HTC_001) RUU
H3g UK RUU as im actually on 3 network
Nothing is working, so i reloaded cidgetter and examined the prop more closely, where i found a few instances of "WWE" which i see is actually ASIA, so i thought id try a ASIA rom, alas still nothing, it will not install.
What am i doing wrong, ive tried installing these htc roms on both custom and stock recovery, usb debugging is also on, everything checks out but i cannot get an RUU to install on my phone, having tried Europe, Asia and Uk im left wondering which RUU i do actually need to recover my phone in case of disasters, 2 days and my head is puddled with it all, i dont want to start customizing my phone until i know for sure that i can recover it.
Im not convinced that cidgetter is fully accurate, why would it report htc 001 or WWE when it was an orange uk phone, i have noticed theres also loads of info in there about carriers in italy, spain, germany and frankly, all over the world, but no indication whatsoever as to what the correct RRU recovery for the device would be.
P L E A S E H E L P
Because im ready to scream, there must be a way to determine what i need and i cant be bothered downloading every rru on filefactory because the site is so damn slow, takes an hour and half just get 1 of them.
Unless anyone has any links to a better server where they are stored like HTC maybe.
As a newbie to the htc im crying out for help here, and feedback would be most welcome and extremely appreciated.
Thanks.
Gaz
Did the phone have Orange branding/apps on it when you turned it on? If not, you have an unbranded handset so the x.xx.401.x RUUs are the only ones you need
Download the 1.29.401.7 RUU from the mirrors in the Shipped-ROMs thread
Why do you need it anyway? If the phone works then the only reason you need it is to revert to stock if you're sending it to HTC.
As a side note best way to flash them is:
1. Boot phone into HBOOT
2. Switch to FASTBOOT
3. Connect to PC
4. Run RUU
Thanks Eddy, top man
Its not that i want to use it, as i said its just in case of any mjor issue like soft brick or something whilst flashing a custom, just playing safe.
I think i have a feeling it could be my unlocked bootloader, i cant help thinking i may need to relock it to flash an RRu
Also correct, although my phone is orange originally, there is no orange logo on it and no orange related software on it, so im assuming you are correct in your findings and i shall give it a go.
Thanks button clicked, chhers for the info.
Yes, you need to relock the bootloader to flash an RUU on the One X
To confirm, when you first got the phone were there any Orange logos/apps on it when turning it on? If not, then you are unbranded
Update....
Relocked bootloader and followed your instruction
Got a bit further this time, it failed again this time at updating signature, the error report was -
Error 140 - bootloader version.
So i dont know what that error means exactlt but im still baffled by it, it wont flash the 401 rom either.
ok so this is what info i have -
Main cid - htc__001
endeavor_u_ics_40
ro.aa.rid - 1467
skulist - 401
bootloader - 0.94.0000
ro.carrier - WWE
ro.cid - HTC__001
Can anyone shed any light on exactly what RUU i need???
Speaking of the whole s-on issue, is there no way to firstly backup the build.prop and then manually text edit the cid to alter it?
This may result in brick is my only concern.

[Q] How to root wiht a build:1.31.405.1.cl269910 release-keys

I bought a use desire Z , and Ihave a problem with the sims unlock, someone tell me it easier for me if I root it, but i don't find how to do with my configuration...

Thankx in advance!!
Use the guide for rooting 1.34, it should work fine.

Hi here again!!
You should explain your roggers -> Bell simlock problem too.
Maybe you could have some help here too!!!
Does direct flash of a shipped ROM (.exe) could work?
Witch one to choose in this case?
Can't tell if you're asking a question or not.
If a simlock is active, rooting the phone will remove the simlock.
RUU's are only for the DZ, not the G2 (unless you count the very latest G2 update, 2.16.531.6)
Flashing a RUU (the .exe) will flash whatever stock rom is contained in it onto your device, if the version numbers and model id's and cid's all match (if you're S-ON)
if you're S-OFF, any RUU should run on your device, but will remove any custom recovery and eng hboot.
-Nipqer
Initially, my problem comes from the fact that I can't connect to the Bell network, with my phone to buy used, the guy who sale me told that is enlocked, he served under Rodgers before, however I have no message saying that my SIM is invalid when I insert my SIM or another of Telus. I have an X on the antenna, and only wifi works, I have manually configured the APN, replace the SIM, and spend hours to peel forum, Keno40 suggest me to Root, do my question we not sure that was the 1.34 work for1.31 build... excuse me if my text is a little low end, English is not my first language… If you have other idea to resolve my issue it will be great!

[Q] Installing ROM with different RUU

Hi;
Is it possible to install an Arabic stock ROM on HTC Wildfire S Europe (different RUUs)?
What should I do to install ROM of a software number on a phone with different software number?
I searched the threads but I lost in tutorials and couldn't find an answer.

Yes you can....... If you want to use an RUU you should have a locked bootloader an should have stock recovery
A better way is to just run the RUU till the first screen, close it, go to the temp folder (type "%temp%" in "Run" in the start menu) and search for a "Rom.zip", rename it to "PG76IMG.ZIP" and put in on the SD card and boot into the bootloader and flash it....... You will need a locked bootloader for this as well
But I read somewhere that if I want to flash a stock ROM with RUU the software numbers should be same.
for example can I install RUU_Marvel_HTC_ARA_1.47.415.1_R3_Radio_47.10b.35.3030H_7.47.36.10M_release_196164_signed.exe on a wildfire s with 2.26.401.3 software number by simply executing that file on my PC?
I have a wildfire S from the Middle East and I have flashed a European Ruu without any problems......the only thing that matters is that the variant is same(GSM or CDMA)
But there is various topics are saying you can't install a stock ROM on a phone with different CID version. You need to first s-off and change CID or use Goldcard.
I went for goldcard but it seems that the site which generates goldcard image is down.
What else I can do?
I need to install RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_ARA_2.26.415.2_Radio_47.23e.35.3038H_7.57.39.10M_release_262618_signed_2 on a wildfire s with 2.26.401.3 software number which is Europe.
Is there any complete tutorial? This phone isn't mine so I don't want to try uncertain way.
